L ' été de la Saint - Michel .

  Certaines personnes du Nord de la France appellent la courte période autour du 29 Septembre , l ' été de la St Michel . En effet nous avons souvent beau temps pendant ces jours - là ici à Amiens ( France ) . C ' est le cas cette année . J ' espère que vous sentez dans votre coeur un peu de la chaleur de la St Michel où que vous soyez . C ' est mon souhait pour vous .

  Michaelmas summer .

  Any northen french people call the short period around the 29th of September , Michaelmas summer . Indeed we often have a nice weather during these days here in Amiens ( France ) . It is the case this year . I hope you feel in your heart a few of Michaelsummer heat wherever you are . It ' s my wishes for you .

  Ce qu ' une fleur dit .

  A l ' entrée de mon potager se trouve en bordure un buisson d ' Asters . Je suis toujours obligé de limiter son expansion en arrachant une grande partie de son lacis de rhizomes . Noyée dans ce buisson envahissant il y a une superbe fleur blanche , une sorte d ' Anémone qui fleurit seulement en Septembre . Avant cela je ne vois rien , seulement les Asters et quelques feuilles fanées de Pivoine . Chaque année , depuis 15 ans , je me demande  :     " Poussera - t - elle et fleurira -t - elle ? "  Et soudainement chaque année en cette période elle apparait ,brillamment blanche et répond : " Je suis là , Michel " . Je dois dire que je considère cette fleur presque comme une amie . Elle me dit certainement quelque chose . Quoi ?  : " Je te remercie de m ' avoir préservée de ces Asters et de m ' avoir laissé en vie ?  Tu vois je suis fidèle depuis 15 ans ? La vie et l ' amour sont plus forts que la mort ? " . Un peu de tout cela , je pense . Je suis très sensible à cette Anémone spéciale . Chers amis , pourrais - je vous demander si vous avez une fleur qui vous dit quelque chose ?

What a flower says .

  At the entrance of my vegetable garden in the border is standing an Aster bush . All the time I have to limit its expansionism in taking out a big part of its rhizome network . Drowned into that invasive bush there is a wonderful white flower , a kind of Anemone that is blooming only in September . Before I see nothing , only the Asters and some faded Peony leaves . Every year I wonder : " Will it grow up and flower ? " and I waiting for it . And suddenly every year at this time it appears , brightly white , and answers : " I am here , Michel  " . I have to say I almost consider that flower as a friend . She certainly tells me something . What ?  : " I thank you to have preserved me from those Asters and let me alive  ? You see I am faithful for 15 years ? Life and love are stronger than death ? "  A little of all that .  I am very sensitive to that special Anemone  . Dear friends , could I ask you if you have a flower that tells something to you ?

  La framboise brillante .

  cet après - midi je bêchais à la fourche un coin de jardin où auparavant étaient les tomates . Dur travail car la terre était lourde . De temps en temps je m ' arrêtais et me redressais pour reprendre mon souffle . Je contemplais les 1400 poireaux que j ' avais repiqués il y a quelques temps . Soudain mon regard fut attiré par quelque chose qui brillait non loin de moi . C ' était une des dernières framboises illuminée par le soleil bas sur l ' horizon . La framboise parmi les feuilles vertes brillait ...brillait ...et rayonnait d ' une lumière rose éclatante . Petite merveille qu ' on ne pouvait voir qu ' en levant la tête et en regardant autour de soi .

  The bright raspberry .

  This evening I turned over with a furk a part of the vegetable garden where the tomatoes were before . Hard work as the ground was heavy . From time to time I stopped and stood up again to get my breath . I gazed the 1400 leeks I had transplanted sometimes ago . Suddenly my attention was attracted by something that shone no far from me . It was one of the last raspberries illuminated by the sun nearby the skyline . The raspberry among the green leaves shone...shone... giving a pink bright light . Little wonder that only might be seen in raising the head and looking around oneself .

Justice but not war .

  A week of silence in sign of mourning for the horrible events happened in USA might be the best to do .  And now ? Justice firmly must be done . To find the responsibles of the attack and judge them by a criminal international court of UNO . It will be difficult and long because these criminals are anywhere in the world . You cut a fanatism Hydra head and two are growing again . However the governments have to continue without stop to find them even if a long time is necessary .    But never blind war which would be a revenge . Those who ask that don' t know what it is : the total horror . More , the fanatism would be increased  yet . International army must be the arms of Justice only .    I think also we would have also to wonder why this fanatic islamism is growing and spaying so quickly and so strongly principally in East world . To attempt to find answers to that question perhaps would be a step towards peace in minds and in hearts .                 ps : exceptionaly I will only write my entry in English language ( very bad English language , forgive me )

Sans voix .

Nous restons sans voix devant ce qui vient de se passer aux Eats - Unis . Nous sommes horrifiés .Toutes nos condoléances à nos amis américains .

Voiceless .

  We remain voiceless at seeing what it has just happened in USA . We are horrified . All our condolences to our american friends .

Chaque arbre a sa chanson .

  Le vent soufflait hier . Il faisait chanter notre sycomore et notre grand noyer . Je frissonnais à entendre le chant du noyer  Il y a aussi la voix des peupliers , celle des chênes etc ... Toutes différentes . Rassemblées dans la forêt elles forment un choeur harmonieux et mystérieux qui chante la vie du monde . Heureux ceux qui peuvent entendre chanter les arbres .

Every tree has its song .

  The wind was blowing yesterday . It made our sycamore and our tall walnut sing . I was thrilled at hearing the walnut ' s song . There are also the voice of poplars , the one of oaks etc ... All different . Gathered in the forest they become a harmonious and mysterious choir which sings the life of the world . Happy those who can hear the trees sing .

Solidarité humaine .

  Sunnyron vient de nous raconter une belle histoire simple et authentique . C ' est un bon exemple de solidarité humaine dans la vie de tous les jours . Voyez sa dernière entrée . ( cf Sunnyron dans sites I read ) . C ' est vraiment encourageant .

Human solidarity .

  Sunnyron has just related to us a nice , simple and true story . It is a good example of human solidarity in the daily life . See his last entry . ( see Sunnyron in Sites I read ) . This is really encouraging .

Rentrée scolaire .

  La rentrée est proche pour professeurs et écoliers en France , au Canada et ailleurs . Elle est déjà faite pour certains . Les intestins se nouent ou au contraire remuent ! D ' autres individus dépriment plus ou moins . C ' est le syndrome de la rentrée ! Et il n' y a pas que la rentrée scolaire . Il y a toutes sortes de rentrées dans les affaires industrielles et commerciales ainsi que dans l ' administration . ..Moi - même qui suis en retraite en ressens encore les effets . Donc je vous comprends et tente de vous encourager . Ayons aussi à l ' esprit ceux qui cherchent un travail . Autre anxiété ! Qu ' ils ne se découragent pas . Pensons aussi aux parents qui voient leurs enfants quitter la maison pour partir à l ' école parfois loin . Aujourd' hui il pleut sur Amiens . Dansons sous la pluie !

Beginning of classes .

  Beginning of classes is soon for teachers and pupills in France , in Canada and elsewhere . It is already made for any people . The intestines are knotted or at the contrary are stimulated ! Other people drag down moreless . It is the beginning of term syndrom !There is not only the beginning of classes ! There are all kinds of re - beginning in the industry and trade business and also in the administration . Although I am retired I feel again the effects . So I share with you and attempt to encourage you . Keep also in our mind all those who are searching a job . Another anxiety ! Don' t discourage ! Think also of parents who see their children leaving home to start to school sometimes faraway . Today it is raining in Amiens . Dance under the rain !

Le vin nous rend heureux .

  Comme vous le savez nous rentrons juste d ' un voyage dans quelques régions viticoles de France . En Charentes près de Cognac nous avons goûté le fameux Pineau des Charentes . Autour de Bordeaux nous avons visité les terroirs de Sauternes , des Graves , du Médoc et des Côtes de Blayes .  Le temps était très chaud ( 30°C - 35° C )  , aussi dans la fraîcheur des celliers des vignerons nous étions très bien et le vin était meilleur encore ! Je pensais souvent à vous . Je suis certain que vous auriez aimé cela .   Sur le chemin du retour nous nous sommes arrêtés en Touraine où se trouvent les célèbres châteaux de la Loire mais où il y a aussi de délicieux vins de Loire . Rechercher les bons vins conduit à visiter de belles régions . Je n ' ose pas dire combien de bouteilles nous avons rapportées . L ' eau est nécessaire à la vue , le pain nourrit le corps mais le vin réjouit l ' âme .

Wine makes us happy .

  As you say we have just come back from a trip in some wine - producting areas in France . In Charentes nearby Cognac we tasted the famous Pineau des Charentes . Around Bordeaux we visited areas of Sauternes , Graves , Medoc and Côtes de Blayes . Weather was hot ( 30°C - 35°C ) so in the cool of winegrowers cellars we were very well and wine was better yet ! I always thought of you . I am sure you would have loved that . On the way back we stopped in Touraine where are staying the well known Loire Castles but where there is also delicious wines of Loire . To search good wines lead to visit beautiful countrysides . I dare not say how much bottles we have brought back . Water is necessary to life , bread feed the body but wine makes the heart glad .
