 Récemment j’ admirais la blancheur et l’ élégance   des lys , en ligne , au début du potager ;  Je me disais que cette fleur a vraiment une grande pureté de forme et de couleur. Cela  donne une idée de ce qu’ est la beauté dans sa simplicité .

 Et, juste à coté , je voyais les pommes de terre très prometteuses  d’une belle récolte : fortes tiges . feuilles bien vertes .  On voit mieux  la longueur de la parcelle sur la deuxième photo  . Je pensais donc  à la générosité de cette terre qui nous nourrit . D’un seul coup d’œil je voyais en même temps la  beauté et la fécondité de ce potager qui vous rend bien le travail fourni

 Et pendant que je contemplais  mon carré de pommes de terre , je vis arriver Janine. Ma pensée s’appliqua à elle : beauté , courage et fécondité. Je pensais alors au psaume 128 : «  ta femme sera comme une  vigne généreuse et tes enfants comme des plants d’olivier autour de ta table. »

  Recently I was admiring  the white et the elegance of the lilies , in a row, at the beginning of the veggie garden. I told myself :this flower really has both a high purity in the shape and color. This gives an idée of what is the beauty in the simplicity.

And just at the side and further I saw the potatoes very promising of a good crop :  strong stems and beautiful green. We see better the length of the patch on the second picture . So I was thinking to the bounty of the ground that nourishes us . In only one glance, I saw in the same time beauty and fecundity in a veggie garden which rewards our work.

  While I was contemplating my beautiful patch of potatoes, I saw Janine who arrived from the bottom of the veggie garden. My thought applied to her : beauty, courage and bounty and then I thought of the psalm 128:”  Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table.”

Et presque deux ans après , voici les jumeaux Raphaël et Yris mangeant en autonomie , assis côte à côte à la table . Ils ont bon appétit. Au menu artichaut, carotte, bœuf et  pâtes. On reste stupéfaits en face de la croissance rapide , les premières années de la vie . Janine prend souvent des photos pour s’en convaincre encore. Merveille de la vie.

And   almost two years after,  here are the twins eating on their own,  sat side to side in front of the table . They have good appetite.  At the menu : artichoke, carrot, beef and noodles . We remain amazed in front of the fast growing in the first years of life..  Janine often takes photos of them to be convinced of this reality yet. Wonder of life.

                                                                                                                      Cherry time

 

 

Hier avec ma femme Janine nous avons cueilli des cerises . Des bigarreaux . Cette année il y en a beaucoup . Les merles ne les ont pas mangées avant nous . L ‘ image présentée a été obtenue avec de réelles cerises scannées

C ‘ est un moment bien agréable que ce temps des cerises . Le temps est doux , ensoleillé . Une légère brise vous caresse et fait bruire le feuillage . On éprouve un sentiment particulier . Indicible . C ‘ est un moment de bonheur .

Cela me rappelle une vieille chanson française écrite en 1870 :” le temps des cerises ” . En voici le début :

” Quand nous chanterons le temps des cerises ,
Et gai rossignol et merle moqueur
Seront tous en fête.
Les belles auront la folie en tête
Et les amoureux le soleil au cœur .………………………………..”

Je souhaite , mes amis , que vous ayez connu un temps des cerises et que vous puissiez le connaître encore et toujours .

  Cherry Time .

   

  Yesterday with my wife Janine we picked cherries ., whiteheart cherries . This year there are many of them . The blackbirds didn’ t eat them before us . The picture shown here has been realised by scan of real cherries .

  How much pleasant the cherry time is . Weather is sweet , sunny . A gentle breeze caresses you and makes the foliage murmur . We feel a exceptional feeling . Inexpressible . It is a happiness moment .

  This makes me recall an old french song written in 1870 :” Le temps des cerises ” ( Cherries Time ) . Here is the beginning of it :

  "When we will sing the cherry time ,
  Happy nightingale and mocking blackbird
  All of them will have  a good time
  Beauties will have mad head
  And lovers , sun into their heart .
  …………………………………..”

   

  My friends , I whish you had known a Cherry Time and you could know it again and always

Un repas familial à la Pentecôte  8 Juin 2014

Le 8 Juin dernier au Dimanche de Pentecôte  nos six enfants et leur famille étaient là avec nous . Janine avait préparé un excellent et copieux repas . Qu'ils sont précieux ces moments où toute la famille depuis les grands parents jusqu' au petits-enfants est rassemblée . L ' ambiance était joyeuse. Sans compter les jumeaux nous étions 22 autour de la table. Après cette vue d ' ensemble quelques scènes du repas sont proposées.

Last June 8th, on Pentecost Sunday all of our 6 children and their family were at home with us . Janine had prepared a big and excellent meal . How precious are those moments when all the family members from the grand parents to the grand children are gathered  . the ambiance was joyous.  We were 22 in including the twins who are not on the picture above. Après le repas un peu de sport fait du bien mais vous pouvez choisir de  faire un tour du potager ( au fond)

The twins  are quiet and are able to play on their own ( Yris on the left, Raphaël on the right )
Les jumeaux sont calmes et savent jouer seuls

But they love also to walk with their cousin and sister. 
Mais ils aiment aussi se promener avec leur  cousine et soeur .

And as always, at the end, a card game is organized  while others are working to declutter the table and to clean dishes,plates and cutlery. with the reward to feel useful to all the family?

Et, comme toujours, à la fin, un jeu de cartes est organisé tandis que d 'autres s 'affairent à débarrasser la table et à laver plats, assiettes et couverts avec la récompense de se sentir utiles à toute la famille ?

Ces bonnes réunions de familles vous réchauffent le cœur.

Le 6Juin on célèbre le 70ème anniversaire du débarquement des alliés sur les plages normandes . Nous les avons visitées il y a deux ans avec mon cousin René et sa femme Chantal qui vivent en Normandie . Mais j' ai des souvenirs personnels de cette annne 1944 et spécialement de Septembre

On September 6 we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the landing of the allies on the Normandy's beaches . We visited them two years ago with my cousin René and his wife Chantal but I have personal memories of that year 1944 and especially from September.

 

. En 1944 un intrépide gamin français de 11 ans accueillait avec enthousiasme l ' armée canadienne qui libérait la côte nord - ouest de la France où il vivait . Une batterie de canons positionnée non loin de chez lui tirait sur le Cap Gris Nez , forteresse où les Allemands résistaient . Il souhaitait participer, avoir un camarade soldat et vivre comme un petit soldat au milieu des canons . Il réussit et il était fier d ' avoir un grand camarade protecteur . Puis les Canadiens partirent pour la Hollande . Il fut triste . Il y eut un échange de correspondance après la guerre jusqu ' en 1948 où sa dernière lettre resta sans réponse .Le soldat canadien avait conservé cette dernière lettre dans son porte - feuille..

In 1944 an intrepid 11 years old french boy welcomed with enthusiasm the Canadian army freeing the north - west coast of France where he lived .

A battery of  guns located no far from his family home  was shooting  on the Cap Gris Nez , fortress where the Germans resisted . He wanted to participate , to have a comrade soldier

and to live like a little soldier among the guns . He succeeded and he was proud to have a big  protective comrade .

Then the Canadiens left for Holland . He was sad . A correspondence has been after the war until 1948 . But his last letter had not answer .

The canadien soldier had kept this last letter in his wallet ( cf above the facsimile of this old lettter published by the newspaper Toroto Star on Saturday december 29,2001.)

 

 

 

    Au printemps... 2000 il demanda à ses enfants d ' essayer de retrouver le " jeune " Français . Ils le firent et le trouvèrent . Une correspondance régulière via l ' Internet pendant un an et demi avec la fille aînée du soldat permit de retrouver les liens d ' amitié dans le nouveau contexte

  de chacun d ' eux , 56 ans plus tard . A le fin de Décembre 2001 l ' ancien gamin de 1944 traversa l ' Océan Atlantique pour être présent au 60ème anniversaire de mariage du soldat canadien à la veille du Nouvel An . Ce fut une énorme surprise pour lui organisée par ses filles .

Les deux camarades " d ' armes " se retrouvèrent avec une émotion indicible .Le jeune gamin français de 1944 , c ' était moi ,Michel et le soldat canadien s'appelait Douglas Bible venant de Toronto .

  At the spring ... 2000 he asked his children to try to find the " young " French . They did and found him .

A regular correspondence via the Internet during 1 1/2 year with the soldier ' s eldest daughter allowed to find again the friendship links in the new context ,

 56 years later .

At the end of December 2001 the kid of 1944 crossed the Atlantic Ocean in order to be there at the canadian soldier ' s 60th wedding anniversary at the eve of New Year . It was a huge surprise for him orchestrated by his daughters .

The two comrades " in arms " found again each other through in an inexpressible emotion .

The young boy of 1944 , it was me , Michel  and the Canadian soldier was named Douglas Bible  coming from Toronto

At the end of May, our youngest  daughter Isabelle who lives in Kent (England ) came here with her two children : Sarah and Joe . As soon as they were arrived they ran to the veggie garden to fight the weeds with my wife Janine . while I played with the lawn mower . I add: Isabelle succeeded to repair the lawn mower which did not work, all of a sudden.That was a pleasure to see them work with heart .

   À la fin de Mai, notre plus jeune fille Isabelle qui vit dans le Kent(Angleterre) est venue ici avec ses deux enfants: Sarah et Joe. Dès qu'ils sont arrivés, ils se sont précipités dans le potager pour désherber  avec ma femme Janine. pendant que je jouais avecla tondeuse à gazon. J'ajoute ici qu' Isabelle a réussi à dépanner cette tondeuse à gazon.C’ était un plaisir de les voir travailler avec cœur.

 

 It was the same when our son Pierre came recently  to trim the hedge of our front yard .

 C ‘ était la même chose quand notre fils Pierre vint récemment pour tailler la haie de notre cour devant

 

And also, after Easter on April 28 , our daughter Véronique and her daughter Clara working fiercely in the veggie garden,  digging a ground hard like rock or planting potatoes ( Clara with Manon and Antoine who were at home for some days )

Et aussi, après Pâques, notre fille Véronique et sa fille Clara travaillant avec acharnement dans le potager,  béchant un sol dur comme la roche  ou plantant  des pommes de terre(Clara avec Manon et Antoine qui étaient  à la maison pour quelques jours)

Or again our oldest daughter Carole ( the duchess) helping Janine to the cooking at Easter Day.

Ou encore notre fille aînée Carole (laduchesse) aidant Janine à la cuisine au jour de Pâques.

It is a pleasure to us to have caring children who come when they can( it is not always possible for all at any time ) to see us and bring help. We are grateful

C'est un plaisir pour nous d'avoir des enfants attentionnés qui viennent quand ils peuvent (ce n'est pas toujours possible pour tous à tout moment) pour nous voir et nous apporter de l'aide. Nous sommes reconnaissants

 

 

 

Le festival de Cannes du cinéma

The Cannes Film Festival

Le Festival International du Film de Cannes durant la semaine dernière à la fin le samedi 24 mai 2014. La Palme d'Or a été remportée  par le réalisateur turc Nuri Bilge Ceylan pour son film "Hiver sommeil". Bravo à lui!
Cela m'a rappelé que Janine et moi étions à Cannes pendant l'été 2008 et nous avons marché autour de ce grand palais de film (voir la photo Wikipedia ci-dessous). Comme nous passions à côté d'un escalier, j'ai suggéré à Janine à monter, comme une star de cinéma. Elle l'a fait, mais nous avons réalisé plus tard que ce n'était pas le grand escalier pour les étoiles, starlettes et célébrités .... mais un  simple escalier de service. Bah! un escalier est toujours un escalier, même sans tapis rouge

The International Film Festival of Cannes was standing all  last week until  Saturday  May 24, 2014. The Palme d'Or was won by Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan for his film "Winter sleep". Congratulations to him!

This recalled me that Janine and I were in Cannes during the summer of 2008 and we walked  around this great movie palace (see wikipedia photo  below). As we passed at the side of a staircase I suggested to Janine to climb it,  like a movie star. She did but we realized later that it was not  the Grand Staircase for the  stars, starlets and celebrities .... but  back stairs  . Bah!  stairs always are stairs   even without a red carpet  .

 

Coïncidence: samedi dernier mon cousin René, vous savez, celui qui parle aux phoques sur la plage(  http://fauquet.xanga.com/2012/04/21/my-cousin-and-the-seal-seals-song-and-sea-lions/?cref=topblogs) m'a envoyé quelques photos de ses vacances avec sa femme Chantal sur la Côte d'Azur et surtout de leur visite à Cannes. Nous voyons enfin sur la photo ci-dessous le célèbre grand escalier et son tapis rouge  que Janine avait manqué. Sur la photo suivante nous voyons une équipe d'acteurs et le réalisateur d'un film populaire français. Prestigieux et glorieux!

 

CoIncidence : last Saturday my cousin René , you know, the one who talks to the seals on the seashore ( http://fauquet.xanga.com/2012/04/21/my-cousin-and-the-seal-seals-song-and-sea-lions/?cref=topblogs)  sent to me some photos of his vacation with his wife Chantal on the  French riviera and especially of their visit in Cannes.We see at last on the picture above the famous large flight of stairs and its red carpet that Janine had missed . Then we see a team of actors and director of a popular French movie . Prestigious and glorious !!

 

 

Il m'a envoyé aussi une photo de sa femme Chantal debout sur un escabeau pour mieux voir les artistes et le grand escalier rouge. S'il vous plaît ne pensez pas qu'elle est au sommet de l'échelle pour crier: "Moi aussi je suis une champione et mérite une palme, la palme du mérite féminin" Mais non, elle était seulement  en admiration devant ce spectacle exceptionnel. Quels bons souvenirs !

He sent  to me also a photo of his wife Chantal standing on a step ladder to see better the artists and the large red stairs . Please do not think she is at the top of the ladder to shout: " Me too I am a champion and deserve a palm , the palm of the feminine merit "  But no she was only in awe in front this exceptional show. What  good memories!

This big Yucca does not ease the access to the hedge , certainly not!     Ce gros Yucca ne facilite certainement pas l 'accès à la haie!

 

Never hair have  been so carefully trimmed. Those hedges are lucky to be worked by an artist.

Les joies d’une grand-mère
The joys of a grandmother

Lately we had at home some  grandchildren that my readers know well. My wife Janine is doing a max to make them happy and by this way she is herself happy and becomes sometimes incredible .
 I gathered three mini reports to make a short funny video  ( 2 minutes ) . You will not regret to watch it !!

- first part ( recorded  by Manon, 14 year old next July) : Grandma at the bowling for the first time of her life and she won!  Please applaud the style of her play .

-Second part: I put there two photos of the grand children Manon , Antoine and another Clara ( almost 16) who were planting potatoes in the dry ground : Clara digs , Manon improves the hole and Antoine puts carefully the precious tuber in the hole! The second photos shows Janine and our second daughter, Veronique who are  digging the rock ! (the ground of the veggie garden)

- third part : Janine is doing the musical education of the 20 month old  twins, Raphaël and Yris, starting by the rhythm .  Please increase  the sound of the video and of your computer because the music is not loud )..

Such  are the joys of a grandmother in April-May.

 

 

 

Dernièrement, nous avions à la maison des petits-enfants que mes lecteurs connaissent bien . Ma femme Janine fait un max pour les rendre heureux et de cette façon, elle est elle-même heureuse et devient parfois incroyable.
 J'ai rassemblé trois mini reportages pour  faire une courte video amusante de 2 minutes . Vous ne regretterez pas de la regarder !

- Première partie ( enregistrée  par Manon , 14 ans Juillet prochain ) : Grand-Mère au bowling pour la première fois de sa vie et elle a gagné ! S'il vous plaît applaudissez le style de son jeu .
- Deuxième partie . J'ai mis là deux photos des petits-enfants Manon , Antoine et une autre Clara ( près de 16 ) plantant  des pommes de terre dans le sol sec : Clara creuse , Manon améliore le trou et Antoine met soigneusement le précieux tubercule dans le trou . La deuxième photo montre Janine et notre seconde fille , Véronique , qui sont en train de creuser la roche !( le sol du potager)
- Troisième partie : Janine fait l'éducation musicale des jumeaux( 20 mois), Raphaël et Yris , en commençant par le rythme . S'il vous plaît augmentez le son de la vidéo et de l'ordinateur parce que la musique n'est pas forte) ..
