En Octobre dernier j'enlevais les dahlias avec désherbage en même temps<. Soudain je sentis quelques chose de doux glissant sur un de mes doigts .. C ' était un escargot qui explorait ma main avec vivacité. Pas de mouvement apparent: il glissait régulièrement sur ma main. Je pense que l'escargot est le seul animal qui se déplace par vagues de contractions musculaires sous le pied, facilité par le mucus qui aide à l'adhérence au support. Je rentrai à la maison avec l’ escargot sur la main . Janine prit quelques photos difficilement car l’ animal bougeait . J’admirais les longs tentacules porteurs des yeux , les petits servant au toucher . Ils sont reliés à des ganglions formant un cerveau simple La bouche est juste en -dessous . Finalement la tête est portée par l’avant du pied . Vous en connaissez beaucoup d’ animaux comme cela ? Et je ne vous parle pas des autres mollusques qui sont tout aussi originaux ( les calmars qui ont le pied sur la tête, les moules qui n’ont pas de tête etc ..)

Last october I removed the Dahlias with weeding simultaneously . Suddenly I felt some sweet thing slipping on one of my fingers. That was a snail exploring my hand vividly.No apparent movement of organs : he slipped regularly on my hand.. I think that the snail is the only animal that moves in waves of muscle contractions under foot, facilitated by the mucus which helps the adhesion to the substrate.I returned home with the snail on the hand. Janine took some pictures difficult because the animal was moving. I admired the long tentacles bearing his eyes, and the little ones used to the touch. They are connected to nodes forming a simple brain. The mouth is just below. Thus, the head is carried by the forefoot. Do you know a lot of this kind of animal? And I'm not talking about other molluscs that are as original (squids that have the foot on the head, mussels that have no head , etc ..
Mon escargot prit une pose pour monter le trou d’ entrée et de sortie d’air de son poumon . Oui l’ animal possède un poumon ,un cœur, des vaisseaux , un appareil digestif. Tout cela est enchevêtré et tordu car pendant le développement le corps se tord.. Le plus extraordinaire est que l’ escargot est hermaphrodite . Il possède un système reproducteur mâle et un femelle mais il n’ y a pas autofécondation mais accouplement. Un escargot injecte avec un pénis son sperme dans le vagin de l’ autre et vice versa ; Chacun pondra une grande quantité de petits œufs dans le sol . Vous voyez cette complexité raffinée et je me souviens des sueurs froides quand j’ avais autrefois à disséquer un escargot pour faire apparaître bien séparés et sans les détruire les différents organes . Et n’oublions pas que l’ escargot porte sa maison , une coquille spiralée qui grandit avec la croissance de l’ animal

My snail took a pose to show the hole of enter and out of the air from his lungs. Yes the animal has a lung, heart, blood vessels, digestive apparatus. This is all tangled and twisted because during its development the body is twisting .. The most amazing thing is that the snail is hermaphrodite. It has male and a female reproductive systems but there 's no self-fecondation but mating. A snail injects his sperm with a penis in the vagina of the other and vice versa; Each of them will lay a large number of small eggs in the soil. You see this refined complexity and I remember a cold sweat when in the past I had to dissect a snail to show well separated without destroying the different organs. And do not forget that the snail carries its house, a spiral shell that grows with the growth of the animal.
Je remis soigneusement mon escargot dans le jardin . Les êtres vivants ont une organisation très perfectionnée suscitant l’ émerveillement et le respect . Encore faut – il la connaître . La Création est une merveille et elle se poursuit.
I handed my snail in the garden. Living beings have a highly developed organization, arousing the wonder and respect. But this needs to be known. Creation is a wonder and it continues.

Course d'escargots

Dans les années 30-40 la plupart du temps les enfants jouaient toujours dehors, filles et garçons ensemble . Nous inventions des quantités de jeux pour jouer ensemble. Parmi ceux-ci il y avait la course d’escargots. Nous choisissions dans des endroits à l’ ombre des escargots qui semblaient bien éveillés et les placions en ligne sur un mur lisse . Le premier qui glissait le plus haut était le vainqueur et donc aussi son «propriétaire ». Le groupe d’enfants suivait avec impatience la course et chacun encourageait son escargot. Certains criaient de joie, d’autres étaient désappointés et méprisants et d’autres pleuraient de voir leur leur escargot perdant. Quelquefois les escargots étaient têtus et refusaient de grimper le mur. Imaginez !
Doux souvenirs.
In the years 30's-40's most of the time children always were playing outside, girls and boys together. We invented a lot of games to play together. Among them there were snail race. We chose in the shadowed places well awake snails and put them on a smooth wall in line .The one that slid higher was the winner and so the child " owner". The group of children followed with impatience the race and every one encouraged his (her) snail . Some shouted .of joy , others were disappointed and despising , and others were crying to see their loser snail. Sometimes the snails was stubborn and refused to climb the wall . Imagine !
