  • Formes et couleurs .

    Shapes and colors (2)

English version below the first picture

A friend made those drawings in order to send me his wishes at the New Year .
He writes :" I made it as a token of our friendship ". Everyone sees there what he wants , according how his spirituality or simply her interests at this time are . All of things are in the play of light , in the progressive variation of colors " .

The first drawing has been a little altered by a lack of pixels so he sent me a second one . I show both them .
I was very sensitive to this artwork that was dedicaced to me .
And I would want to know what you feel about or what symbols you find when you watch each of them or both them .?

  • What a wonderful friend to dedicate these colorful pieces to you! Wow, I can't believe I am first today. The first reminds me of the weather that nature can send our way, sun, lightening, sunsets, clear blue skies. The second makes me think of conception, cells merging and then rapidly growing with all the brightness of new life. But, then, I think about cells and weather alot. Ha!

  • wow, michel~!  these are just beautiful.  so colorful.  they make me happy just to look at them.

    i hope you have a wonderful, day :o )

    ~janny

  • hi, michel.  you have a chance to win a jem.  i just posted another question.

    *hugs*

  • psst...

    michel.

    over here.

I'll sneak ya a jem when nobody is looking.  ok?

  • In the first picture, I see life from the vibrant blue and orange. On the other hand, I also sense serenity from the blue gently fading into orange. This picture seems to embody a friendship that holds strong from both good and bad times, since there is a contrast of different colors and a contrast in shape (e.g. the softness of the orange curves that look like floating fumes vs. the sharpness of the blue lightning bolts.)

I love the various luminous and dark colors in the second picture. I can't really make an interpretation of it, but I get a sense of mystery and unity of harmonious, beautiful differences.

These two would look lovely on a wall.

  • Those are beautiful. How have you been? Hope all is very well with you!! Take care...

  • Very interesting!  In the first one I sense a feeling of energy, moving forward into the new year.  Its bright colors and vivid shapes promote a hope of better times.

To me, the second one is rather overwhelming - so many colors and everything very close together.

You have a very special firend.

    Carol Suzanne

  • I have to say I like the first painting the best even if its a bit out of shape . The colours on both paintings are wonderful

  • I think the second looks like a mind full of friendship for you and the first like the dawning of the New Year, with promise and light. BTW I thought you'd be much too busy with the kitchen work to find time to blog Perhaps you have finished now so how about some " before and after" photos ? I remember when we had our kitchen refurbished...... it was like Hell so you have had my sympathy this last week. Marie

  • In the first colorful painting, that is obviously done in digital, I find both a softness combined with a directness. It's as honest and bright, as you are.

The second is a symphony of rainbows that are melting together. It's like all of your readers...all of us from around the World, of different races, colors, creeds. Yet, it's a happy group of peace.

  • I see music in the first one to me. The 2nd is very chaotic but colorful..what a great gift...

(Si tu le permets, on dit: I made it *as a token* of our friendship.)

    Merci de la tienne, Michel.

    Clara

  • I love the colors in these pieces and I do have to say that I agree with Mystical2 about them. You're very blessed to have a friend that takes time to make such a beautiful symbol of your friendship.

    Dans l'amitié,

    Meghan

P.S. I hope I said that right, I've only been taking french for 5 months now.

  • The first one looks like the setting sun at seaside.
The second one is more deep, complitated meaning, like fields and trees and roads going somewhere or going nowhere, holes to hide.Nice landscape for Simon.

Napoleon III ...he helped the pope. Why the French keep nummering the kings and emperors? Well....not only the French. Confusing anyway all this nummers.

    Bien à toi

    Carlo

  • I like those colours and designs, as one can make them into what they want . I have peeled that piece of batik off your Xmas card and put it in a small frame, it looks very unusual, i like it. Thanks. Don't go and strain yourself with too much decorating and renovation Love marjie

  • From the first picture, I feel that there are days when you like to keep things simple and you don't do much.

However, in the second picture the mish mash of colours is showing the number of interests that you have and try to keep up - Also, would I be right in saying that in these interest, are they all connected with one another?

  • These are beautiful
The first one reminds me of water and the seashore, wind and waves. So beautiful!!
The second one looks like a flower.
Your friend is wonderful to give you these most beautiful works of art.
You are a good friend and certainly deserve them.

    Rosemary

  • In the first piece, I see blue energy surging around the shapes of the orange, which I think are the friendship.  I also see a blue orb of peace and love overhanging these shapes.  You are both in the world, aware of its expanse, and this friendship that you have makes you one.

I can't make out the second one as well but I see layers.  I see the layers representing time and events and on top, a vibrant life still existing.

It's wonderful that you were honored with these works!

    Hugs,

    Lisa

  • I agree, with the above comment! What a wonderful friend to have done this for you, Michel. I love all those colours, very vibrant and inspirational. The first one has a Japanese feel to it!

  • ton amie est très talentueuse!

  • In the first one I see peace... just a lot of mellow love and peace... in the second one I see vibrant life - full of energy and passion... what wonderful paintings!! C~

  • Wow, those are beautiful.  The first makes me think of beaches and deserts coming together.  I can't think of the feelings the second picture gives me, but it does relax me.  Your friend is very talented, Michel.  What is his career?  Is he an artist?

    -matt

  • Bonjour monsieur!

    K xo

  • well these are quite exquisite : the first one makes thinking of bird flying high in the sky and the sun shining right through it feathers ..... very high spirited.

The second one makes me think of a woman's hair tied up in a bun but braided with all kinds of colourful cloth.... the way i see it, it could start a new fashion trend among women !!!
    :)

thanks for sharing these with us.

  • The first picture represents to me dynamism and movement. The second one looks to me like a ring of people very closely linked together. This little exercise reminds me of those inkblot cards :)

    C.

  • fabulous art. really beautiful.

  • I am just looking to the color....and how much it reminds me of my home back in Hawaii.  Color in the flowers, color in the blue sky, color in the tropical plants.  I wish I could return to visit someday soon.....

  • The first one reminds me of a plane flying high in the sky.  I haven't decided on the second one.  Were you able to use the new link I sent you?

  • They're both vibrant and full of colors just as you are in life.  You also bring this out in the lives you touch - I know you have with mine.  Thank you for sharing Michel.

  • I really like the first one. Makes me think of racing in the wind towards the sun! The second one makes me think of ripping thru layers upon layers of gift wrap..or looking into something thru many layered barriers!

  • the first one has an open and optimistic feel to it... the other is deep and intense... the colors are forceful in the 2nd one..

it's good that your friend sends you their work to enjoy- if it is dedicated to you he must admire you as a friend..

  • Art is such a personal thing.  We all see what our minds bring to the painting or object.  No one ever sees art the same and it that not a glorious thing!  Many people enjoying beauty in many ways!! Love, Nancy

  • it is very interesting Michel!!!
How flattering to have an artist draw you something in friendship.

How d you feel about them?

    I hope you have a wonderful day..=)

    In friendship,
    Asnhoopla=)

  • I'm really glad that you enjoyed looking at my husband's little photo gallery.  We are going to enter our first show on April 30 and try to sell some of his pictures.

Oui, je me rappelle ton histoire.

    Clara

  • I promise Michel, I will have skating pictures one day soon.
I will let you know when I do have them.
    Rosemary

  • hmm... je pense, (the second picture) the artist uses very vibrant colors with a lot of life/energy and then darker colors in the back that may represent stability/calm... this may be what he sees your friendship.. thank you for sharing such an interesting entry... =)

  • I like the bright happy colors.  It gives a happy feeling during the dark winter days.

  • First: Someone playing a harp and symbol at the same time. Very oriental looking.
    The second:  Horse riding equipment.

  • i love the first one, it looks like a glyph charging forward. you are an awesome xanga-warrior! hi ho! thank you for your visits and wonderful comments at my site. you are special to me here at xanga. thank you.

  • It was very kind of your friend to draw and send these pictures to you in your honour: they are very well done! The first picture makes me think of summer, as it looks a little like a summer sky to me. The second is perhaps more like autumn, with all the leaves and their many changing colours. Will you print and frame these?

Thank you for your extensive comment on my site. I hope the renovations at your house are going well. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend, and I''l talk to you again soon!

  • The second one... it makes me think of emotions-- tangled up inside. I don't know why, but it does.

  • Very colorful indeed. I didn't get anything out of the second picture, but the first on puts me in mind of lovely sunrises here in Missouri, USA

  • Very cool!
The top image makes me think of a sky with a distant storm, lightening, clouds...far away enough that you don't feel the rain but you feel the beat of the thunder on your skin, and the freshened breeze the rain brings.
The bottom one reminds me of a child playing with a flashlight at night....leaving light trails burnt into the retina.

    :)
Thanks for sharing those with us! Very lovely.

  • Such creativity and to have it dedicated to you! What an honor.. Beautiful colors on both.. The first seems serene, like a sunset, and the second seems an abstract rainbow?? Not sure.. Enjoy the glorious weekend!

  • What a nice gift.   And a good way to begin the new year.  :)

  • How amazing! The first one brought thoughts of Oriental art to mind. A raising sun through blue clouds. Movement, yet with young emotions running throughout. The second one is ever busy with emotions, moving at a fast pace, never ending but gathering everything as it goes always learning. Much like life grows with each new experience. The first makes me think of how you may have been as a young man. The second one is how I've come to think of you now. An amazing person ever growing and giving to your friends. You are blessed to have a friend capture you with color. I'm sending lots of hugs for a great weekend.

  • Michel,

I agree your artist friend is very generous to you, to delight you with these expressions.  What I am able to see in the 1st one is  asian influenced, somewhat simple with the beautiful blue sky depicted (my sky here today is this same color of blue!!), the cloud is a little ominous....the streaks of blue lightening, the yellow sun.  I am not certain if the orange figure in the middle is a runner or running but I will continue to let it speak to me.

As for the 2nd one, I see a melding of color but not combining....each color is vibrant yet jumbled, not losing it's own identity as I am still able to discern each individual color: red, yellow, pink, green, blue, orange and a little black.  Instead of a melting pot, it is like a stew...you can still distinguish meat, potatoes, carrots, onions, etc....but all together in one medium......Society??....wishful Society??  Where each individual is celebrated with it's contribution, but not blended, not becoming something it isn't or shouldn't be.

...as I said, our skies today are a vibrant blue (it was raining yesterday), and the warmth of the sun should make all of our plantings feel like Spring is coming!!  Hope your weekend is fabulous!!

  • I love the vibrant colors in the paintings. The first one is my favorite but that may be b/c the second is not as focused on my computer. The first one makes me think of a beautiful sunset but yet, there is conflict there. It is like a day that is beautiful on the outside, but does not always go smoothly; however, the beauty of the day triumphs. The second makes me think of a person whose personality is full of many different wonderful aspects and all of them together create the final image of energy, enthusiasm and life. I like the way your friend expresses himself. Thanks for sharing these pictures with all of us. And thanks for your comments on my blog. Take care of yourself and have a wonderful weekend.    Blessings, kc

  • I see warmth with the red and light with the sun in the first one.  The second seems to say over and over with color a warm feeling.  Both are wonderful and caring with warmth.

  • Hey Michel, the first picture I see is so very beautiful and bright.  I see the sun and I see the ocean and the sky and through it all I see a man in orange walking and I get the feeling it is a part of you...a strong part...one that is stronger than the sea...your Soul...the second picture is so pretty and colorful and I see a dragon...a firey dragon...absolutely beautiful...the dragon to me says Miguel is full of love...why I feel these things I don't know...I just do...thank you for sharing such beautiful pictgures...huggs...Sassy

  • In the first one I see happiness and joy a bright sunny future. In the second I see a home and a xandel burning to guide us home. Hope all is well hugs .

  • how wonderful to have artwork dedicated to you! you must feel wonderful! the bottom image, i can't really say about because it is a bit hard to see...but the top image makes me think of sunsets and sunrises..

  • I have only learned to appreciate abstract art as an adult.  I think my mind had to mature to understand it.

The top picture reminds me of movement and dancing.  I think it is quite a rapid dance filled with happiness.

The bottom one looks warm and inviting, like a friend.  It's very welcoming.  It looks like your website.  It is a perfect picture for you.

  • I posted the comment on beachgirl for ya . Hope your able to get in to her site soon xanga been funny since the maintance work was done . God Bless my friend.

  • As always the paintings mean connection of all things and all spirits for good.love fancy

  • The first one gives me a feeling of soaring, of flight. It seems open and optimistic. The second one is intense and complex. It is momentum waiting to burst out or the complexity of inner thought. I like the first better than the second, but they are both wonderful gifts. You are very lucky. Thank you for sharing them.

  • The first one does have a spiritual quality.  I really like it.  The second one reminds me of New Orleans, LA Mardi Gras.  I love them both.  You have a very special friend.

  • These pictures are food for the eyes.  The first one is like an advertisement with its sharp outlines and clear colors though there is the gradient of orange in the background.  The second one is fluid, in constant motion and blurry throughout---my mind wants to focus on something sharp but the yellow is buried between the reds and greens. The images, when juxtaposed next to eachother shows the tension between energy and fluidity in motion.

  • They are beautiful Michel.

  • I have to apologize for not making my way to the comment box sooner for this blog. I have read it a few times and studied the pictures awhile, yet I could not find anything to be put down.

I have to admit that I have just come to terms with my fear of Contemporary art. I have had a hard time relating to such paintings as the ones above. I am trying to overcome whatever is in my soul that does not allow me to relate. Unfortunatley, it seems as if I have a long ways to go, because no feelings have come still.

Even though I cannot give opinions of the art itself I do want to say that it is very nice for a person to bestow his own works for you Michel. You must feel very honored to know that you have made such a mark in a person that they dedicate work to you. You are a very special person, and your friend obviously knows and apprecaites that.

    With Love

    Sarah

    sevgi

  • how wonderful!  i am by former trade a  designer & have since childhood had a love affair with color  it is a healing tool & these works dedicated to you are marvelous  in the first i see lightening coming throug a layer of conscience illuminating with sun light   in the second  the depths of a human brain in all it's colorful complexities  thank you  magi

  •  What cheerful  greetings. The second reminds me of a sea creature or a dragon. The first has an Asian look. The blue oval is a cloud, perhaps & the sun is sending out rays to banish it & make  everything bright.
