I shouted to them to come
And they came so close
That I tapped their nose .
They looked so peaceful
During this dark nightfall
That I was thrilling
With a peace feeling .

J'adore les chevaux bien que je ne sache pas (encore) monter à cheval. C'est très bien écrit aussi. Je ne savais pas qu'on disait nez pour les chevaux, je croyais qu'il y avait un autre terme qui m'échappe.

Your blogs are one of the reasons I am resuming my study of French. I always try to read them first in French, then check the English to see how well I did. Today I did not do very well, but often I can read most of the blog. Reading them has encouraged me to attempt to improve my French. My French is not very good, but I would like to be bilingual if possible. I say "if possible" because the local college is a 2 year college and offers only two classes in French - which amounts to only 1 year of study. The second class is so far only offered in the daytime while I am at work. I will take the beginning class and then hope to be able to take additional classes.

I really enjoyed reading this today.
Do I have the words to comment on such a poem?? Such a picture?? I do not believe I could translate the emmotions I felt when reading your blog. It has the ability to take away worries. To show some of the peace the horses have found and bestow it apon the reader.
We have discussed what majestic animals horses are. I envy your ability to be able to see these horses in person. To be able to touch them and feel their presence. Truly breathtaking.

I'm not sure how to find the right words to describe what this photo means to me. I adore horses, and this is absolutely the most magnificant of photos. They seem to be posing for a surreal painting. Yes, it deserves to be painted or to have the photo displayed in a place of honor in a Musee. Marvalous, Michel.

The horses are ethereal and as beautiful as I first saw them, and the poem is still fresh in my mind. Your writing has that wonderful, lasting effect on me.
I'm glad to respond to your queries! To answer your questions: Basically, an AP English senior is a student in the last year of high school (similar to the thrid year of lycee in France) who is taking a class in "Advanced Placement" (hence the "AP") English literature. The book that we read in this class is a famous novel called "One Hundred Years of Solitude," written by the Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez originally in Spanish under the name "Cien anos de soledad." Perhaps you might know it by its French title?
By the way, I am hoping to start to read and study some French poetry on my own soon. I am thinking possibly Louise Labe to start off with, what do you think? Any suggestions for future poets?
Also, Michel, do you know the song "Porque te vas"? It's in Spanish but I know that it had been a hit in French. I'm just wondering because that song is currently stuck in my head!

Animals can bring you a lot of peace. When my brain is overloaded, it really helps to sit down with my cats. It's very calming.
