   La vie est une merveille. Je sais qu’il est banal de dire cela. Bien entendu chacun de nous aime et admire la vie. Cependant il est des circonstances spéciales où cela apparaît de façon plus éclatante ..

Dimanche dernier 23 Septembre nous sommes allés chez notre fils Jean-Baptiste et sa femme Melody pour leur dire bonjour et voir les jumeaux( et aussi Manon 12 ans et Antoine 10). Nous étions accompagnés par notre cousin René et sa femme Chantal ( ceux qui enlevaient la mousse d’un toit de façon risquée ).

Vous vous souvenez des jumeaux à leur naissance, il y a un mois . Minuscules et pas trop expressifs pour le moins.
Un mois plus tard, quel changement !. Non seulement ils ont gagné en taille et en poids mais ils vous regardent et vous interrogent des yeux. Ils réagissent de façon adaptée. Voici quelques photos de notre visite de Dimanche dernier et vous pourrez apprécier par vous-même. Nous voyons tout particulièrement ici que la vie et une transformation incessante en un continuel mouvement.

   Life is a wonder. I know it is banal to say that. Of course each of us loves and admires life. However there are special circumstances where it appears more radiant.

On the last Sunday September 23 we went to the home of our son Jean-Baptiste and Melody to say hello and see the twins. ( and also Manon 12 and Antoine 10).We were accompanied by our cousin René and his wife Chantal (the ones who removed the moss from a roof, with risks ).

You remember the twins at their birth a month ago!Tiny and of course not too much expressive. for the least
A month later, what a change! Not only they have gained in size and weight but they look at you and question you with the eyes. They are reacting in a adapted way . Here are, above, some photos from last Sunday and you will be able to appreciate on your own. We see typically here that life is an unceasing transforming and a continual movement.

La Saint Michel et la St Raphaël
Michael's Day and Raphael' Day ( up date September 29)
  Célébrons ce jour de la St Michel le 29 Septembre. Ce jour est encore un jour d’ été , la lumière est brillante .
C’ est la fête de tous les Michel , Michelle et Michèle . Ce nom est celui de l’ archange Michel . Les anges sont souvent cités dans la bible mais trois seulement sont nommés ,Michel , Gabriel, et Raphaël .J ’avoue que j’ai toujours aimé ce jour de la St Michel.
Le même jour nous pourrons célébrer la fête de notre dernier petit fils qui est né il y a un peu plus d’un mois ( voir ci –dessus) . Hourra pour lui.
Fête on non la veille nous avons rentrés et stockés le bois de chauffage aidés par notre fils Pierre qui ajusta aussi la fermeture de la lourde grille en fer forgé. . Dans une maison il y a toujours du travail à faire . C ' est la vie!

Let celebrate Michael ‘s Day ( Michaelmas ) on September 29. This day is still a summer day . The light is bright
It is the celebration of all of the Michel , Michael , Michelle , Michele . This name is the archangel Michel ‘ s one .. The angels often are mentioned in the Bible but only three of them have a name : Michael, Gabriel and Raphael
I always loved Michaelmas .
And this same day we will celebrate Raphael ‘ s Day , since our latest grandson born a month ago(see above ) is named Raphael ! Hurray !
But Celebration or not, yesterday we stacked the wood helped by our son Pierre who also adjusted the the heavy iron gate which became hard to shut. A. house always needs works . It is life.

Hier ,Mercredi 12 Septembre alors que je réparais un mur en briques , ma femme Janine revenait du jardin avec quelques légumes dans une caissette . Leur belle couleur me frappa et je lui demandais d’en prendre une photo. Bien sûr ils ne sont ni gros ni abondants mais leur couleur me semblait excitante
Cette année le jardin a souffert avec un mauvais temps en Juillet . Nous avons eu trois tempêtes avec de violentes averses et même de la grêle ! Les pommes de terre et les tomates ont été abîmées et attaquées par le mildiou. Cependant nous avons eu des haricots verts stérilisés pour une part et des cornichons conservés dans du vinaigre à la cave .
   Les betteraves rouges commencent à grossir et les carottes ont été cultivée sous voile pour les protéger de la mouche de la carotte , petit papillon qui pond ses œufs sur le collet ce qui amène des « vers « dans la racine . Le céleri-rave et les choux sont satisfaisants. Au total nous avons eu quelques satisfactions avec le jardin mais la culture a été plus difficile que d’ordinaire. En ce moment notre sol argileux est dur comme du béton mais la puissance végétale est si grande !
   Mais plus que de la production , notre plaisir vient principalement pour nous deux d’être là en plein air, de vivre avec les cycles des saisons et leurs couleurs, de travailler la terre et de voir les merveilles de la germination et de la croissance des végétaux.

Yesterday, Wednesday September 12 , while I was busy to repair a bricks wall, my wife Janine came back from the garden with some veggies in a crate . Their beautiful colour hit my eyes and I asked her to take a photo. Of course they are not big and abundant but their colours looked exciting to me
.
  This year the garden suffered with the bad weather in July. . We got three storms with violent showers and even hail! Potatoes and tomatoes have been ruined and attacked by the Mildew . However we got green beans that have been preserved for a part , gherkins preserved in vinegar in the cellar.
The red beets start to take some weight , Carotts have been grown below a veil to protect them against the flies that lay upon them giving worms in the root . The celery-rave and the cabbages are satisfying. At the total we got some satisfactions with the garden but the growing has been harder than usual . At this time the clay sol look a bit like concrete but the vegetal power is so high!

But more than from the production, our satisfaction comes principally from the pleasure for both of us to be there in open air, to live with the cycles of the seasons and their colours, to work the ground , to see the wonder of the growing of the veggies..

I wonder if you share my genuine amazement, perhaps a bit naive, of the simple beauty and taste of the produces of the ground and the work of man and woman

Arrachage des carottes

Samedi dernier, Janine était dans le jardin pendant que je réparais des volets « aussi jeunes que moi" . Elle m'avait dit: «Je m’en vais cueillir des mûres. . Plus tard, toujours perché sur mon escabeau, je réalisais, qu’il y avait un moment qu’elle était partie. Je suis allé avec l'appareil photo et l'ai surprise en pleine action. Elle arrachait des carottes pour la soupe et un ragoût. La première photo est floue à cause de la rapidité du travail. Vous savez le sol est un vrai béton, comme quelques photos le montrent, aussi cela nécessite un effort violent. La couleur des carottes était attrayante et le lendemain, Dimanche à midi, nous avons mangé un savoureux ragoût de boeuf cuit au vin rouge (Boeuf bourguignon) avec les carottes, le céleri rave et les poireaux du jardin. Il était accompagné d'un bon vin de Bordeaux.
Parfois, je me dis que je suis un homme heureux

Always something to repair or in maintenance

Last Saturday Janine was in the garden while I repaired "as young as me" shutters. She told me “I am going to pick some blackberries” . Later , always perched on my stepladder I realized it was a while she was there . I went with the camera and surprised her in action. She was pulling up some carrots for the soup and a stew. The first photo is blur because of the speed of the work. You know the ground is a true concrete, as some photos show it, so this needs a violent effort . The color of the carrots was exciting and the day after, Sunday at midday, we ate a tasty stew of beef cooked in red wine ( Boeuf bourguignon) with those carotts, celery rave and leeks from the garden. It was accompanied by a good wine of Bordeaux .

Nous sommes tellement heureux quand les petits-enfants sont là et offrent spontanément leur aide. Cela chauffe le cœur. Nous ressentons leur amour ; Et j'ajoute que le travail qu'ils ont fait n'est plus à faire! Comme ma grand-mère disait il ya très longtemps: «Beaucoup de monde, ouvrage léger»;
Et de plus, lorsque nous travaillons avec eux nous ressentons une ambiance de jeunesse qui est très réconfortante.
Toutes les photos ont été prises par ma femme Janine . Elle n' est donc pas sur les photos mais chacun sait qu'elle n' arrête pas de travailler dans cette maison . Elle est l' abeille , je ne suis que le papillon, presque inutile !

We are so happy when the grandchildren are there and offer spontaneously their help. This makes your heart warm .We feel their love. And I add the work that they made is no more to do ! Like my own grandmother said a very long time ago :”many hands make light work”;
And more, when we are working with them we feel an ambiance of youth which is very comforting
All of these photos have been taken by my wife Janine. So she is not on the pictures but everyone knows she does not stop to work in that house . She is the bee , I am only an almost useless butterfly.

The twins are doing well . Of course the parents have to adapt themselves to their rhythm during the night and along the day without forget the school rhythm for Antoine and Manon. Big work!
Les jumeaux se portent bien. Bien sûr, les parents doivent s'adapter à leur rythme pendant la nuit et le long de la journée, sans oublier le rythme scolaire pour Antoine et Manon. Gros travail !

Deux semaines plus tard .
Two weeks later

Cette photo a été prise par Janine Vendredi dernier 7 Septembre. Jean-Baptiste et Mélody tiennent les jumeaux : Raphaël à gauche , Yris à droite . Ils avaient deux semaines et ils son en pleine forme.Ils avaient regagné leur poids de naissance.
Période de bonheur mais physiquement dure : les nuits sont très courtes et ils essaient de s’organiser le mieux possile.

This photo has been taken by Janine last Friday , September 7. The parents Jean-Baptiste and Melody hold the twins : Raphaël on the left and Yris on the right.. They were two weeks old and in full shape. They had gained again their birth weight and even more .
Happy time but physically hard . The nights are very short . They try to find an organization , the best possible.
