  • It's such a special day that first day at school..... They grow so fast.

  • All the schools here wear uniform , Thomas and Alice wear uniform just like that except for the hat  They had the school bags like that too with their schools name on

  • She is so cute. There is a look of great expectancy on her face. My children never had to wear uniforms in school, but she looks cute in it.

I want to thank you for your kind comments about   my brother. I really appreciate it. Take care.

  • Oops, I signed under the name from a site that I used to use. mountaingirl

  • What a beautiful girl!  Yeah, they grow up fast, don't they?  We only have uniforms for parochial (church) school and some private schools, but the public schools do not require them.  Cheers!

  • she is adorable

  • lovely photo...

  • what a pretty little darling!

  • awwwww.......  so cute!

  • nifty idea with translation.

  • She looks like an intelligent young lady in her uniform. I hope she will like it at school

  • I thank Julie (englishjuls ) who lives in Liverpool to have complemented my entry by her comment above .

  • She is precious!! I hope she enjoys her school & makes lots of friends. At 4 years old that is kind of young, is this Kindergarten??

In So. California, most elementary schools require a uniform of sorts.  Navy blue pants/skirts/shorts with a white shirt, either button down or polo.  I would imagine it makes things so much easier!!  Unfortunately, this was not implemented until long after my son had already graduated.  High schools though, do not do this including the private & parochial ones.

  • ...ah yes, Sarah, the lovely. She's so cute in this photo, Michel. The school bag is almost bigger than she.
...i wore school uniforms all through school, except university. I loved them. Never was there wonder to what I would wear and on weekends/after school, regular clothes were fun.
...wishing you a comforting day. MuSe

  • what a little cutie~!

  • A very adorable young lady!!!

  • So soon our little ones are no longer babies.  God bless.

  • How sweet she looks. When my children went to school in England uniform was optional ourt here it is compulsory I pity the poor folks they have to buy second hand the schools don't think of them.  12 grandchildren, any nearing marrying age yet. then you will get a tribe of Greats like we did.  . Thanks for pity I am such a baby were illness is concerned, I wan't to be strong forever and not know when I am going to die. Just not wake up one day. I would hate to be told as so many are, you have so and so and your time is limited, I have seen so many friends and family members experience that.Cheers Marjie

  • Thinking back... guess I had to wear a uniform through primary school (navy blue tunic, white blouse) and intermediary school (brown tunic, gold blouse -- yuk!). High school was uniform-free. -- Lise

  • She is an absolutely gorgeous child.

  • How tender .... what love shows in her eyes! Glad to have you back, dear Friend!

  • Glad you are back!!! What a great picture!  There are schools here that have uniforms and some that don't.  A lot of schools want to go to uniforms.  I have to wear one at work sometimes!!!

    Hope you are well!!

  • Il n'y a pas d'uniforme ici.  Elle est tres mignone!

  • Awww... so cute... she looks like a young adult already...

  • She does look so very proud and spritely.  What a joy children are.  They restore our youth   Grandchildren are such a blessing

  • Elle est tres adorable!

She looks like a smart girl!

    I don't know why I haven't received your last cpl entries! :(

  • Quelle Mignonne!  very cute uniform!  Will you be visiting her soon or she you?

    Clementine

  • Elle regarde ainsi grandie dans l'uniforme. Je vous connais l'aime!

  • Elle est tres adorable!

  • I'm so glad you are back. YOur granddaughter looks very smart in her uniform. And i can vouch for the education in teh U.K. Having studied there for four years myself, I love the education system, and i loved my uniform-i think it signifies equality and prevents unfair competition b/w students. I wish your grandaughter a very happy and successful education

  • awww...how sweet! she looks so cute in her little uniform! is the hat part of her uniform? my daughter's school wears a uniform..but no hat!

  • She looks ready for the world!!!

  • All I could think of when I saw her beaming face was...awwww.

  • vraiment adorable, vraiment chouette (?)

    she so cute, so adorable~~

  • Oh she is beautiful!  I even like the uniform!  You seem to have a very beautiful family! !   Everyone you show pictures of in  your family is beautiful.  Great job of you and your Mrs, between the two of you, you have done a very wonderful job, and appear to have even wonderful grandchildren.  I sort of wish our kids wore uniforms.  It would stop the competition of dressing better than others, and wanting to fight someone because you don't like the way they dress.  Michel, you have a great and wonderful day and a much more wonderful weekend.  Thank you for your wonderful comments on my site.  As usual, very much appreciated.  Much love and hugs! ! ! !

  • mignon!  that reminds me of the days when i wore a little uniform to school everyday.  est-ce qu'elle sait les deux, l'anglais et la francais?

(Your dear little Sara looks so big and brave.  I know that you are very proud of her)     zera

  • I love her hat and the artwork on the wall behind her.

  • Look at how precious she looks!

  • Have a great and wonderful weekend! ! !   Much love and hugs! ! !

  • Wearing that uniform her  proud  looking for sure

  • Michel, your grand daughter looks lovely.  I like the beret.  In England they believe that the uniform stops the children worrying about what to wear.  Yes, I will continue with Xanga.  I enjoy it very much but find it hard sometimes.  Best regards,  Tom

  • So beautiful and brave on the first day of school!  I'm sure you're very proud :)

  • What a darlin' she is. I love her tam.

  • Sarah is beautiful and very grown-up looking for a 4-year-old. I love your blogs, Michel, and I wish you would write more for us! This was a great statement about your granddaughter! She is now a little girl and is venturing into the world! How exciting.

  • Thank you Michel for sending me over to narragansett55's

We start school at 5 in New Zealand.

  • Michel, she is adorable!!!  What a lovely photograph!  I wish I hadn't had to wear a uniform, but hers is far nicer than mine was

  • very nice picture of your grand daughter.  Being grandparents is much fun I find, our grand daughter is almost 4 and will love school, she already likes to practice writing and drawing.  Having grand children gives us a chance to play again and share time and experiences(now with more patience than I had when my own were little)

  • She is so sweet!!  Some of our schools have uniforms and some don't.  My kids never had to wear them.

    m{eye}k

  • what a beauty!

  • She shines she's so beautiful! Ah the proud grandpa!

  • When I was in London I remember a group of young ones not much bigger than that standing inside the National Gallery discussing a painting like they were adults. I was amazed but hoped they gave them room to be children too. She's absolutely lovely.

    Brenda

  • Oh, the first day at school...they've been talking about putting kids in uniforms here in the States. Hey if I go to France can I crash at your place?

  • ISNT IT NICE TO SHARE  PICTURES OF OUR FAMILY.BRING,S  US ALL CLOSE NO MATTER HOW FAR WE ARE FROM ONE ANOTHER! HUGS FANCY

  • She's so cute, especially with that big hat.

  • michel, i'm happier now. all i can do is sit and watch him. hopefully he'll came to a realisation and change. other than that i can only hope and pray.

  • What an adorable child!

  • She looks so proud of herself. shes cute. Looks like her Grandpa.

  • Sarah is gorgeous! You must be very proud

I like that there is a place with french AND english. I live in the States, but I am Canadian, and I think that my abilities in French are not great, and French is more difficult for me than in secondary school (high school).

  • Sarah looks absolutely adorable!  Is she enjoying school?

  • answer to Cork : Yes she does .
