The latest image of the summer

It was at the end of August .

I dug an area of my vegetable garden to dress the soil before to sow lamb' s lettuce and white onions . Clara and Sarah ( both 4 years old )  , two of my grand daughters came in order to pick tomatoes . My wife took a picture of us .

Unfortunatly the Sarah ' s basket was too much flat and the tomatoes fell to the ground . It was Clara who brought the tomatoes at home . We have liked to see them with their baskets . I have thought to share with you this kind scene of the summer .

Now , here is the autumn with its splendours but also the big works in the vegetable garden , digging for example . But all of this is a pleasure ..

  • Beautiful little girls!  A girl always remembers the time that she spends with her grandfather.  Grandfathers are very special to us!

  • How charming!  Each season has its own delights, does it not?  The end of summer bring the garden harvest with such delicious fruits and vegetables.  You are correct, there is much to do in the garden in the autumn to prepare for winter.

  • they are all too precious.  how blessed you are!

  • Maybe Sarah had it planned all along to carry a flat basket so she woudn't have to carry tomatoes!

Do you grow turnip greens or okra in France or is that just a southern thing?

  • Ah! Les tomates! je l'aime!   Votre potager semble tres grand.  -Quelle partie de france habitez-vous ?

  • I love the way you depict simple country scenes....the garden the children....everything is so quaint.

I hope that in a few months I am picking tomatoes too!

  • Michel!

  • Your grand daughters are cute as buttons! I can tell you really love them...

  • ...Sarah and Clara with Grandpa ~ sweet photos! The girls are so precious. How nice they are the same age for companionship and friendship. My Grandson (also 4 yrs old) would be in heaven knowing them. He seems to prefer girls over boys for playmates. Thanks for sharing this bit of paradise. MuSe

  • Those pictures are absolutely lovely!  I'm so jealous of those girls   It seems they're growing up in such idyllic surroundings ~ they are so very lucky to have that security in this day and age

  • Very adorable granddaughters! And you are so ambitious!

  • What lovely pictures , do you grow any winter Vegatables . My Mum is still just visting sites at the moment hopefully in the winter she will start blogging

  • 90% of the pleasure is in the picking, I hope the tomatos were not too damaged from falling out the basket!  The photos are lovely.  Thanks for sharing that with us!

  • Splendid pictures    see you are having the same lovely weather as here  Cannot believe its now October   Ron

  • Oh these are wonderful scenes! Thank you for sharing the sunshine

  • Thanks for the comment on Julie's site - I'm still learning ! I could do with a Neil ! Aren't grandchildren great ? at least you can send them home when they get fed up. I have a big garden but it was my husbands pride and joy NOT mine so I now have a gardener to do the hard work. The garden still looks lovely because of the great weather we are having.

  • What a BEAUTIFULL picture of you and your girls! But of course all the Sarah's are beautiful...

  • Quelles belles jeunes filles!

  • The song on my site is 'Michelle' by the Bealtes.

  • Mighty sweet little girls. Oh the inocence of youth.

  • Wonderful pictures!!  I love the garden and it's wonderful when little ones can be there to appreciate it.  My grandpa taught me to grow peanuts, nasturtiums, radishes, and hollyhocks.

Thank you for all of your words and prayers during the past couple of weeks.  I truly appreciate them.

  • Joy love and appeciation for your lovely family{v]

  • They're such cute little kids! I live in Hawaii, so there aren't any seasons around here. When I was in Andalucia, the weather would be getting cool right now and the grapes would be about ready to harvest . . . I miss Spain. I've seen France before and I really liked the town of Arles.

  • They are very adorable you are lucky to have such wonderful grand children and to be able to enjoy time with them.

  • They are so beautiful.  Awww gardening I love it.  Unfortunately, this year my garden died off due to my health and not being able to tend it once I got it started.  I am glad you enjoy gardening.   Somehow I just knew you would.  You are so well rounded in your enjoyments.    Have a great day and a wonderful tomorrow! ! ! ! !   Love and hugs! ! ! !

  • Clara and Sarah are so sweet

  • The girls are soooo adorable. Gardening is great relief of stress.

  • I REALLY like the photo of you and the girls! Especially the way one of them is looking at the camera and the other is not. Bravo to your wife! It would make a great painting also.

  • these pictures breathe peacefulness and happiness ... beautiful.

  • thank~you for visiting my site to subscribe .. hope your time this day and night are peaceful and full of love's simple ways ..

  • The moral of the story: If you want to use a flat basket, pick flat tomatoes ?!

  • Sweet and adorable!!! What an excellent GrandPaPa you are to let the little ones 'help' in the garden! A lovely end of summer, indeed!

  • Lovely, lovely photographs Michel!

Thank you for all your comments! I appreciate that!

  • Very beautiful pictures - remind me of my visit this week to your wonderful nation. The weather was excellent - temperatures of up to 23 in the Loire Valley. We went to Rigny-Usee, Chinon, Saumur etc. The food and wine were superb as usual. There is so much in France which is better than England - especially the quiet roads! Tom

  • Elles sont si belles, adorables!

This year we didn't plant a garden really, we put in a small pond instead!

  • Your grandchildren are beauties but your hat is the most charming.

  • I too love the hat!  Lots of integrity

  • Clara and Sara are adorable, just gorgeous... Heheh and you're not so bad yourself!!

  • thank you so much michel. it seems that you're the only one who understands what's really happening. thanks once again. egocentric; a good word to describe her.

  • The most significant adults in my life, as a child, were the ones who spent time with me.  Your grandchildren will always treasure the memories of this time spent with their loving grandparents.  No amount of money spent on them could equal this.

  • Gardening is also a love of mine. Nice photos my friend!

  • Yes quite jealous! I actually have what might be referred to as the female version. Big floppy "Katherine Hepburn" type of straw monstrosity that has a long scarve connected to it that ties under the chin. Perfect garden hat or for going down the river with Bogart!

  • You live the life i wish for myself! I wish someday i will be where you are! *smilez*

  • now I wonder why do all the photos posted here do seem like painted portraits, Michel. You know what? They border the line of perfection!

    Have a good Sunday!

  • What lovely grangdaughters you have I have two also, but mine are younger still. There is always work to be done in a vege garden - it is time soon to dig in the compost and plant the summer vegetables here -I like to grow tomatoes, zuchinnis, capsicum, garlic, eggplant, lettuce varieties, snap peas, spring onions and beans. While you enjoy your autumn garden preperations, I will be enjoying my spring/summer preperations here in New Zealand

  • I suggest that next time you will give you hat to Sarah to carry the tomatoes, they will not fall to the ground them.

My pc has been confiscated the weekend by my daughter, sorry.

  • Your words, thoughts and grandchildren are all precious! The simple things seem to bring the most pleasure--and I am always happy at how well you express this.

My poor garden was overtaken by slugs and "escargot" in my absence, heh. I'm trying to convince them to live elsewhere. There will be fewer of them when the rains slow down, I hope!

So wonderful to see you and your family again!

    Much aloha,
    Linda

  • what a very sweet picture..

    rubymoon

  • I still adore those pictures.  I wanted to thank you so much for taking your time out and visiting my site, and wishing me well.  I will be going to dr this week about this ongoing headache and my back.  Hopefully then we can figure things out and get rid of this headache, and find out whether or not this really is rheumatoid arthritis in my back or not.  Have a great and wonderful day and a wonderful tomorrow ! ! ! !!   Love and many hugs ! ! ! !

  • Of all my childhood memories, some of my most memorable involve my grandparents, particularly my mother's father.

I'm so happy to see you are enjoying your grandchildren. Please, as a grandchild myself, know that every moment you share with them now will echo into their lives forever.

I live in his image, and model my character after him. He runs in my blood, but more importantly he'll forever be a constant in my heart.

  • What beautiful little darlings!

  • No digging here...it's raining...and not a bit.....

have a nice day and enjoy your photo's.

  • Look at those little sweet girls!

  • tres mignon

    merci!

  • Ici je suis!

I have been remiss and did not see the girls of summer before.  How charming they are with their baskets.  It is good to remember the fruit of summer when the season of work and preparation has come.  Thank you for showing these pictures.

  • You and the lovely women in your life!

    How lucky you are.

And indeed: there is much work to be done in the fall garden.

    I will take photos soon.

    Take care, my friend!

    Hubbard
