La dernière image de l ' été .
C ' était à la fin du mois d ' Août .
Je bêchais un coin de mon potager pour préparer le sol avant de semer mâche et oignons blancs . Clara et Sarah , deux de mas petites - filles qui ont toutes deux 4 ans arrivèrent pour cueillir des tomates . Ma femme nous prit en photo .
Malheureusement le panier de Sarah était trop plat et les tomates tombaient à terre . Ce fut Clara qui les rapporta à la maison . Nous avons aimé les voir avec leurs paniers . J ' ai pensé partager avec vous cette gentille scène de l ' été .
Maintenant voici l ' automne avec ses splendeurs mais aussi les gros travaux dans le potager ., le labour par exemple . Mais tout cela est plaisir .

It was at the end of August .
I dug an area of my vegetable garden to dress the soil before to sow lamb' s lettuce and white onions . Clara and Sarah ( both 4 years old ) , two of my grand daughters came in order to pick tomatoes . My wife took a picture of us .
Unfortunatly the Sarah ' s basket was too much flat and the tomatoes fell to the ground . It was Clara who brought the tomatoes at home . We have liked to see them with their baskets . I have thought to share with you this kind scene of the summer .
Now , here is the autumn with its splendours but also the big works in the vegetable garden , digging for example . But all of this is a pleasure ..

Beautiful and precious little girls. I can just "picture" them havesting those tomatoes with their grampa, leaving a nice memory for them to share with their children some day.

How charming! Each season has its own delights, does it not? The end of summer bring the garden harvest with such delicious fruits and vegetables. You are correct, there is much to do in the garden in the autumn to prepare for winter.

...Sarah and Clara with Grandpa ~ sweet photos! The girls are so precious. How nice they are the same age for companionship and friendship. My Grandson (also 4 yrs old) would be in heaven knowing them. He seems to prefer girls over boys for playmates. Thanks for sharing this bit of paradise.

Les photos sont charmants et tous ensembles avec les mots - evocatives (?) ... j'ai jamais visiter la france sauf pendant l'hiver et j'adorais le paysage du pays dans ces mois froids. et possiblement c'est que tout le monde adore la france dans le printemps et j'aime etre un peu different (meme si je suis stupidement ca pour pas de raison) des autres.

Thanks for the comment on Julie's site - I'm still learning ! I could do with a Neil ! Aren't grandchildren great ? at least you can send them home when they get fed up. I have a big garden but it was my husbands pride and joy NOT mine so I now have a gardener to do the hard work. The garden still looks lovely because of the great weather we are having.

Wonderful pictures!! I love the garden and it's wonderful when little ones can be there to appreciate it. My grandpa taught me to grow peanuts, nasturtiums, radishes, and hollyhocks.

They're such cute little kids! I live in Hawaii, so there aren't any seasons around here. When I was in Andalucia, the weather would be getting cool right now and the grapes would be about ready to harvest . . . I miss Spain. I've seen France before and I really liked the town of Arles.

Very beautiful pictures - remind me of my visit this week to your wonderful nation. The weather was excellent - temperatures of up to 23 in the Loire Valley. We went to Rigny-Usee, Chinon, Saumur etc. The food and wine were superb as usual. There is so much in France which is better than England - especially the quiet roads! Tom

The most significant adults in my life, as a child, were the ones who spent time with me. Your grandchildren will always treasure the memories of this time spent with their loving grandparents. No amount of money spent on them could equal this.

Yes quite jealous! I actually have what might be referred to as the female version. Big floppy "Katherine Hepburn" type of straw monstrosity that has a long scarve connected to it that ties under the chin. Perfect garden hat or for going down the river with Bogart!

What lovely grangdaughters you have
I have two also, but mine are younger still. There is always work to be done in a vege garden - it is time soon to dig in the compost and plant the summer vegetables here -I like to grow tomatoes, zuchinnis, capsicum, garlic, eggplant, lettuce varieties, snap peas, spring onions and beans. While you enjoy your autumn garden preperations, I will be enjoying my spring/summer preperations here in New Zealand 
I suggest that next time you will give you hat to Sarah to carry the tomatoes,they will not fall to the ground them.
My pc has been confiscated the weekend by my daughter, sorry.
Your words, thoughts and grandchildren are all precious! The simple things seem to bring the most pleasure--and I am always happy at how well you express this.
My poor garden was overtaken by slugs and "escargot" in my absence, heh. I'm trying to convince them to live elsewhere. There will be fewer of them when the rains slow down, I hope!
