  • Oh, what a wonderful photo of the two dear ones in your life!  Those grandchildren are special, aren't they?

  • heh cute. well true... i find, especially now that my grandmas DEAD that quite a significant part of my life so far does concern my grandparents.. even if i dont see them so often...

  • Such a cutie!!!  The grandmother looks like she is having as much fun as he is.

Your statement is so true - we really do affect our grandchildren.  It reminds me to be very careful of the way I act around them.

Have a great day and a wonderful week.

    (((hugs))) and smiles

  • Bonjour, Michel!

What wonderful pictures as always! I think that it must be a great joy for you to be able to watch your grandson ride his bike. Imagine his joy when there will be no training wheels! Your grandchildren are lucky and blessed to have you and Janine, and I must say that you are blessed to have them as well.

In response to your last comment, Canadians do like turkey as do Americans. I think that I prefer turkey or chicken over anything else. Those two seem to be the most healthy. I find it very sentimental of you with the stone that you got while in Canada. What memories you must have and you have that stone with you to remind you of your past!

Have a wonderful week, my friend. God bless.

  • Those are wonderful! They make me feel like a kid again - I think I need to find my bicycle

  • I LOVE that photo of Janine launching Antoine.  You make me look forward to my own grandchildren some day.  I cannot wait to play with them.  You have a blessed life.

  • ah, c'est mignon.  Quand j'etais petite je pensais d'avoir une mission secrete.

  • I remember my first set of wheels - a two wheeled scooter which I pushed myself along the path on.  I then graduated to a two wheel big when I was 9.  Those were the days.

  • My grandparents imprinted me with many lessons. My grandmother was an artist and poet and I think of her often. She painted my portrait when I was 3, and encouraged my artistic tendencies. She died 5 years ago.

  • Votre petit-fils et mon anniversaire est pres! Mon anniversaire est le 30 juin. Je aura 18 ans!!

  • He looks so much like you!

  • Oh the joy of riding your tricycle.  Even after these many years, I remember the fun of  "driving" by myself.  What special pictures.

    Carol Suzanne

  • What adorable photos.

  • Great pictures! I have some of Carys birthday on protected. It seems llike we both put our grandchildren on Xanga at the same time! Antoine looks pleased to be riding the bike solo. My only little boy is 28 years old! This picture brings back some memories. Your wife looks like a patient and loving Grandmother.

  • Beautiful to behold.  I so miss living so far away from the grandchildren.  This Sunday is my grandson's first communion and I will not be able to be there.  Too many miles and we had planned our holiday.  I have sent a medal of St. Michael as that is his name.  The moments with our grandchildren are blessings and rewards

  • Indeed, grandparents do leave their mark on their grandchildren's souls.  I will always cherish walks along wooded paths with my Grandpa.  We'd reach a great huge boulder deep in the woods, and he'd lift me up to place me on my own personal mountain, then with his pocket knife he'd cut a small twig off a birch tree that grew nearby, break it in two, and together we would quietly chew on our birch while we watched and listened to the woodland creatures.  Grandpa Michel, with your reflections on life you have once again brought back sweet memories of my own for me.  Bless you, and your family.  ~ Paloma

  • Truer words have never been spoken. I'm thankful for the times I've had with my grandparents and I hope to be able to make that impact on my own someday.

  • We are planning on getting Alayna a bike for her birthday in July.  I hope she has as much fun on hers and Antoine seems to be having with Janine on his!

  • It doesnt get any better than this!

  • That is simply adorable You two seem like wonderful grandparents.

    Ranah

  • quelle chance d'avoir des grandparents comme vous ! :)

  • love his red little cheeks. precious. what's the weather like over there? have a good one!

  • The joys of grandparenting Hard work at times esp on the back !!! The next landmark for Antoine will be the removal of the stablisers   Being a GREAT grandmother is wonderful too, I wouldn't want to be without my two. Marie

  • "Grand parents leave their mark in their grandchildren ' soul"

That is for sure... it looks like you are making a lasting, positive mark

  • C'est tellement vrai et les photos sont superbes. Je n'ai connu que ma grand-mère, mais les liens qui nous lient sont des plus spéciaux. Dieu bénisse les grands-parents.

    Porte-toi bien, Michel.

    Clara

  • Wow. What awesome photos. You have such a beautiful life. And your grandson is such a cutie.

  • P.S. It's great that you got it on film so he can remember that you helped to teach him to ride a bike.

  • Wow.  Antione is so cute!! He looks just like one of the little ones my mom babysits.   Thank you for your wonderful comments on my last few posts.  I've decided to quit my job, it's a tough decision but I feel like God is leading me elsewhere.  I've learned to listen!

    Aubrey

  • Beautiful photos!!! It is plain to see that Antoine is having a great ride and enjoying every minute of it. I am sure that he will grow up knowing that grandparent's are wonderful people, who he will keep in his fondest memories.

  • What beautiful pictures of your petit .fils, I am new at being a grandparent and enjoying every moment. I had no grandparents but my husband had a wonderful grandmother, and he speaks of her with great tenderness, my children had no grandparents either and they used to ask why.. RITA

  • Such lovely photos its nice being a grand parent as we can teach the young ones. Take care Angela

  • le petit garcon est tres tres mignon!

Je ne parle pas beaucoup, mais j'adore ton 'xanga', et j'aime beaucoup les photos.

Je m'excuse pour mon francais mauvais.

    Cassie

  • awww....that's lovely! what a beautiful grandchild! and a lovely quote!

  • Awesome. You are right... grandparents do leave their grandchildren's souls. I do have many fond memories of my great-grandfather among the other grandparents... The only way I could possibly describe him in words was a happy, gentle soul. You remind me alot of him.

    -the rachael

  • Absoluement, monsieur!!

  • Yes, grandparents do leave their mark.  I'm sure you and Janine have influenced your grandchildren quite a lot.

I'm fine, Michel.  Thank you for asking.

  • Hi Michel! =) Thanks for your e-mail, it's really nice to hear from you. I must say your grandson Antoine is really cute~ what a handsome smart little boy! Grandparents are one of the kindest creatures on Earth, haha... remember my grandfather always bought me candies secretly even though my mother told me not to eat so many sweets! =P And my grandmother still cooks for me because she's living with me. She has the best knowledge of my favourite food!

  • How very true, Michel. Grandparents really do leave their mark on grandchildren's souls. This is a beautiful picture of Janine with Antoine! It would be wonderful for you and Janine to watch the children growing from childhood to adulthood.

    Another lovely blog from you!

  • Your pictures are always filled with so much love!

P.S. I do speak/write french, but not well, I have to admit...I guess since I live in Canada, we must all know some french. =)

  • Hahaha! That's adorable, Michel. You're a lucky man.

    In Friendship,

tu doit être très fier de l'Antoine.

  • Pictures can say a thousand words. I can tell this by looking at your photos and the smile that is crossing your grandson's face. Your site always gives me a feeling of warmth inside. Have a happy day, my friend.

  • Antoine is a big boy for his age. He has the style of Hinault?  He will win the tour the France one day? he looks like he will.

They keep you busy ,don't they?

  • What beautiful pictures!

  • random comment aww how cute it must be a joy watching your grandson ride his bike.

  • So heartwarming! I remember when I first had my bike with training wheels (I think I was around Antoine's age) - it was so exciting. (However, I've learned how to ride a real bicycle at age 12, around 9 years later.) He looks so proud of himself!

  • De très belle photos. Et oui absolument, les grand-parents laisse une très grosse marque sur leurs petits enfants. Je n'aurai jamais été la personne que je suis sans mes grand-parents. ^-^ Bonne continuation avec le petit!

  • Ahh, I love your photos!  You've inspired me to go out and get a digital camera [finally].  Thank you for sharing these moments of your life with us all.

  • You are so right, Michel.  I used to love to visit my Nana and Grandpa.  They didn't have a lot of money...but they always had a little treat for us.  I use to go over there after school....and they always had a snickers candy bar waiting for me.

  • bonjour.

i happend to come upon your site by lovelywishes.. and i love your story about grandparents and grandchildren and treasure every moment of there time with you.. because recently i have lost my grandfather in december of this year and there is not a day that goes by where i do not think of him and always being there even when he was sick to support me in everything i do. and now that he is gone i never really knew how much i would actually miss him so as i look back i remember all the good things that i had with that wonderful man.

thats wonderful , take care and god bless

    Lanah

  • As always, beautiful photos Michel.  And you are right about grandparents leaving their mark, I will never forget my grandfather and I still quote some things he used to say.

  • C'est magnifique! Grandson is a beautiful boy!
I love the steep rooving, is that prevalent in France?!
    Hugs to you!

  • Well, I love to travel in general....some of these places are for World Youth Day and the Pope...a trip I should have made earlier....Grandparents are the best!

    ~*Sazzy*~

  • "The Legacy" then is put into your grandchildren and it continues on down the line.  The pictures are wonderful, Michel!  I hope you are enjoying the spring.  It rained here today, but the leaves are coming out more and more each day.  Take care, Rachel (Aslans_daughter)

  • Sometimes when I think that I'm not that important to the grandboys, I remember how important my own grandparents were to me.  I think it's true, Michel.

Antoine is so cute!  Chase is just one month younger.  It's funny that you and I both have grandsons that are the same age.  We're experiencing the same things at the same time with them.

    Hugs,

    Lisa

  • Training wheels! At 3? Wow, he is advanced! I didn't get on a bike with training wheels 'till...I don't remember, but I was much older than three! He is very adorable. Keep it copasetic. Peace.

  • My mother has a photo of me like this. I was on a blue bicycle and it had training wheels. Ah the memories of childhood.

  • Bonjour Michel! Petit Antoine est très doué, et Janine se semble une trés bon enseigneuse.
Le vélo peut s'appeller le vélo à grande vitesse ! Je te souhais un très bon weekend. Amitié xoxo

  • On their souls and in their genes. What a beautiful grandchild, and a lovely photograph  that he will have to remember his loving grandmother by always.

  • :) Yes, I do work hard, and if you are wondering... I wish I took a vacation. I am hoping to take one to see my father down in South Texas on the coast this summer. I can only hope though because with work that produces a lack of money... It makes it hard :)
    Thanks for subscribing :)

  • Michel,

So good to hear from you, and I am so happy to find the time to read your blogs, even from many, many days past.  I love your pictures!!  Your home & surrounding areas show me how beautiful France is, and someday I hope to be able to visit your country.

In the meantime, your family gives me hope that someday I will have beautiful grandchildren as you do, and I hope to instill upon them the love of family, friends and flowers!!

Have a great week, and thank you so much for your kind friendship.

  • aaawwwww!!! I love watching people teach kids to ride bikes. So cute!

  • Merci, for your wonderful comment, and glad you shared such insight!
Regarding grandparents--I feel badly for my daughter. One of her grandmothers died 2 years before she was born (my mother died at age 62, of alcoholism), and her other grandmother won't even acknowledge her, as she was born 'out-of-wedlock' (an old, terrible term, but that's what the grandmother thinks). Trisha's father has only seen Trisha-possibly 4 or 5 times since she was born, she is now 13 years of age. So, not only does she not 'have' grandparents, she basically has no father, either. She is missing so much, and me, being only one person, can't do more for her, for that which is missing. I feel sad for her.

  • while im only 16. i think this is an amazing site. its beatiful. and tender and sweet. thank you.

  • How lovely! Of course, your blog is always absolutely lovely. Your joy in life and your pride in your family is beautiful to see.

Thanks for your concern. I am OK. I am working 4 jobs which does not leave me much time for anything at all! I hope to be back to my blog soon.

  • We used to live in the country and had a huge vegetable garden, but now we live in town and have only a small one. It is about 10 feet square. And the vegetables have to share their space with flowers and herbs. So this year we have two tomato plants, two peppers, beans, and strawberries. The rest we have to get from the market. It is still a pleasure.

  • just stopping by to say hello until you return.
