Une de mes belles - filles , Marina , lit une histoire dans un livre pour enfants , le soir avant le coucher . Ses enfants , Antoine , 2 ans et demi et Manon 4 ans et demi écoutent attentivement leur mère dans une ambiance apaisante . Puis ils iront dormir calmement ..Heureux sont ceux dont l ' âme a été imprimée par les histoires lues tendrement par leur mère ou par les premières prières ou encore par certaines chansons que leur mère chantait quand ils étaient petits .
L ' influence d 'une mère n ' est pas mesurable .

One of my daughters in law , Marina , is reading a story in a book for children ., at night before bedtime . Her children , Antoine 2 years and half old and Manon 4 years and half old are listening to their mother attentively in a peaceful ambiance . Then they will go to sleep quietly. Happy those whom the soul has been printed by stories read tenderly by their mother or by the first prayers or again by some songs sung by their mum when they were little .
The mother influence is immeasurable .

How true...I still remember when my Mom sang and read to me. I used to listen to her when she thought I'd already gone to bed. She would be kneeling by her bed, parying, asking God to protect me, to guide me in my life. I'll never forget it.

That reminds me so much of when my brother and sister and I were young and my mom would read to us. We always fought over who got to sit on her lap, or at least be in the best spot for seeing the pictures.
Also, my mom would wake us up each morning with a song - each of us a different song. Sometimes I would pretend that I couldn't wake up unless I heard that song.

I used to read to my children as well. It's wonderful to see that people are still doing that. So many adults are 'too busy'.

Ther is nothing so calming as a story, or even better night prayers, to get children in the right mood for sleep. When mine were samll it was Frank's job to read the bedtime story while I tidied up.

In my case, my true mother was my great aunt. She raised me. It was her voice at night that soothed me rather it be just speaking to me, telling me stories, praying, or singing to me. It is those memories that I shall cherish forever and always.
I have a burning question. You can speak both French and English, I know. Which do you use in your home? I know that is random, but I have been wondering for quite some time.

What a touching picture! A site I do love to see. Robin and Chase read together every night. I love to watch them intereact and enjoy the books. Jak eon the other hand has not taken to being read to. He does however, enjoy sitting on the floor looking at the book himself alot. Sometimes if I am lucky he beckons to be in my lap and I oblige happily.
I am also glad that you had such a delightful surprise for your birthday. What a sweet family. It is obvious that you all share a great love for one another.

Ma mère est une mère exceptionnelle aussi, comme ta belle-fille, parce qu'elle a aimé m'enseigner beaucoup de choses. J'aime ma mère beaucoup. Et mon père aussi! Ils ont lu beaucoup de livres à moi. Quand j'étais plus jeune, j'aimais le livre que s'appelle <>. J'apprenais beaucoup de mes parents.
J'ai une histoire drôle: Ma mère parle Tagalog, une langue principale des îles Philippines. Elle ne parle pas français, elle ne parle pas suédois, et parfois je l'oublie. Aujourd'hui, quand je suis allé avec elle au marché, elle m'a demandée si je trouverais du pain. Je n'ai trouvé pas le pain, et j'ai dit à ma mere, <> en français. Mais, ceci se produit souvent (quand je parle en une langue autre), mais jamais en français! Elle a dit, <>
Désolé! J'ai aimé le livre que s'appelle "Cinderella." Et, j'ai dit à ma mère, "Je ne l'ai trouvé." Ma mère a dit, "Your French must be improving, but what did you say?"

About the Saint of Italy, I must say that I don't know if there is a official Italian Saint. Italy is a patchwork of lirrle states and there are a lot of Saints to represent Cities, REgions,Provinces, parishes etc. I think Italy is a country of the Madonna's too. The cult of the mother mixes with the cult of the Mary, the mother of God.
I was looking at the most celebrated Saints in Italy and the top is Saint Anthony, I was surprised, as I thought St.Francis will be a topper, but there are a lot less celebration for Sant Francis.
In Sardinia the Patron is Saint Efisio and he not know nowhere else in Italy really. In my town is Saint Maria Maddalena ( Again a lady) is she really a Saint?

We had a very intense practice last night. I'm so tired. The children's choir is singing tonight....so we do get a rest today....then onward to Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The mother influence is indeed immeasurable. Whole worlds of imagination are opened by reading stories and telling tales. Antoine and Manon are so intrigued by the story! Antoine looks a little bit concerned.
Chase loves his stories-Robin reads to him every night and I read to him in the afternoon.

Oh, what a lovely, peaceful scene. I don't remember my mother reading to me when I was a child, but I have read to my daughter since the beginning of time ... I still do, sometimes, although she is now 23. She just smiles, shakes her head and indulges me!
Yes, we are indeed lucky to be living in Beautiful British Columbia; although Ontario offers even more beautiful scenery than we are blessed with, our mild weather is like having our own little bit of heaven.

Je m'appelle Jennifer, mais je préfère Jen. Mon nom sur Xanga est le nom d'un joueur d'hockey, qui s'appelle Peter Forsberg. J'adore Peter Forsberg. Il vient du Suède. Il était le meilleur joueur d'hockey dans le NHL (dans le monde!), mais il ne joue plus en Colorado.
Mon père veut apprendre le Français. Je l'aiderai à apprendre le Français. Ma mère a besoin d'apprendre l'Espagnol, parce qu'elle est une infirmière. Il y a beaucoup de patients dans l'hôpital qui parlent l'espagnol. Elle sait déjà un peu d'Espagnol, parce qu'il y a des mots en espagnol qui sont en Tagalog aussi.
That's such a telling picture in so many ways. A Mothers love and Care. The Love and attention of a child. Lovely. I remember myself and cathy spending hours and hours, night after night reading to our two when they were younger. They are all to "big" for that sort of thing now though.

I was shocked to see that I did not comment on this blog, I know that I was here and did read it. That is such a sweet picture. Your daughter-in-law is beautiful and I bet she is a great mother. It is easy to see that the children are really enjoying being read to, they are so absorbed in the story. It will leave them with many happy memories.
You asked if the snow is gone-it is still here.
But it is warming up some and slowly melting, there is some bare ground around now. I do see some crocus peeping out of the ground, so spring is finally trying to make an entry.

What a beautiful picture! I already miss mine being this young. It is always wonderful when they are sleepy and ready to be read a story. I still enjoy reading to Josh and Katie at night. Leah is older and never really enjoyed being read to, except when she was very small. Instead, we enjoy "special time", with a cup of tea or just time to talk.
