Pendant que je tape ce blog il neige , et il neige beaucoup . Et pour un premier Mars c ' est exceptionnel pour nous ici à Amiens dans le nord de la France .. Voici sur la photo ci - dessus ce que je vois depuis par la fenêtre en ce moment précis . Du sel a été déposé dans la rue et dans une entrée pour faire fondre cette neige .
While I type this blog it is snowing , and it snows much . We are on the first of March and it is exceptional for us , here , in Amiens iin Northern France . Here is on the picture above what I see out the window at this exact moment . Salt has been put on the street and a drive way to make the snow melt .

Et voici ce que je vois depuis notre salle de séjour sur l ' arrière de la maison. C ' est le garage et
l 'ancienne écurie avec un aspect inhabituel . La vieille lanterne et la pompe qui ornent le mur en briques blanches apparaissent sombres On voit aussi une partie de la pelouse . Blanche .
And here is what I see from our living room on the back of the house. This the garage and the
ancient stall with an unusual look . The old lantern and the pump that ornate the wall made with white bricks look dark . We see also a part of the lawn with the trees . White !

Voici ce que je vois depuis notre second étage : la perspective sur les toits de mon bureau et de l ' ancienne écurie . On voit mieux la pelouse et les arbres . Le potager est encore plus loin caché .
This above is what I see from our second floor : the perspective of the roofs of my personal office and the ancient stall . We see better the lawn and the trees . The vegetable garden is farther hidden by the trees
Pour beaucoup d ' amis américains cela n ' a rien de surprenant mais pour nous c ' est un événement . Les autoroutes sont dangereuses malgré le salage on le sablage . Janine devait aller voir son père dans une maison de retraite à 80 km d ' ici . Elle ira demain .
Les services sociaux s ' efforcent de trouver les sans - abris pour leur offrir un abri pour la nuit . mais certains ne veulent pas et préfèrent se débrouiller seuls . Pourtant il gèle la nuit -( -6 ° C ).
Puisse le doux printemps arriver bientôt !
For many American friends this is not surprising but for us it is an event . The highways are dangerous in spite of the salt and rhe sand spraid on thm . Janine had to go to a rest home at 80 km from here to meet her father . She will go tomorrow .
The social service tries to find the poor people without house to offer to them a shelter for the night . Some of them prefer to manage on their own . However it is freezing on night ( - 6 ° C ) .
May the sweet springtime come soon !

Right, here on the Great Lakes we're in the 40th hour of constant snow. We're used to it, but come March we just want it gone...
Still, it can be very beautiful...
You've got so much snow!! We haven't had any snow or any rain. It's pretty odd for this area and they are already talking about drought conditions. Stay warm and drink lots of tea or hot cocoa!
It seems strange to see all your beautiful snow while my flowers are starting to bloom. We have had a great deal of rain this year. Our hills are green and the wildflowers are in bloom. I hope your spring comes soon. The snow is beautiful but it also makes driving difficult.
I saw it on television, snowing in Normandie and Picardie. Hier in Bruxelles it snowing and not snowing, the time never makes up his mind hier, but it is cold.
The landscape in amiens must be nice with the snow. Will you send more photo's?

Stay warm. We've had snow but not as bad as that.
If it snowed here it would be an event also! In my lifetime it has only snowed here once and it was so unusual that everyone stopped what they were doing to stand outside in wonderment...even as the thin layer of snow melted almost as quickly as it landed.

We are all worried about drought now that we are supposed to be in our rainy season and there isn't any! Yikes!

I think we got part of your snow storm. However, it wasn't as bad as they thought it would be. Not good for driving.
I would love to send warm weather, but I will have to send warm thoughts instead... it is still snowing here... 8 inches plus. No sign of spring yet... but we can pray for it
I know its been very cold in France I was watching the rugby from Paris on Saturday and the reporter had many layers of clothes on as he was that cold
. I would love to get that much snow but because Widnes is sheltered from the East we do not get much

Coming from South Carolina, I never saw a lot of snow growing up. It would only snow about four or so times a year, and it would only be up to around two inches. Now in Canada, I am getting used to seeing and getting more and more snow. It is a big change for me, but I like it very much. It started snowing here in Toronto yesterday around 11am, and has not stopped yet! We are expected to get over 20cm. I believe the temperature is -8 degrees celsius right now. You, my friend, are not the only one being bombarded with winter weather right now!
I hope that Janine makes it to see her father soon. It is a disappointment for her not to be able to see him, I'm sure. If you must go out, please be careful and stay warm! Have a wonderful day! God bless.
it is beautiful but also alot of work. i lived in the snow for ten years. i do not miss it. and i can drive to it in less than two hours. wonderful photos.
It looks so beautiful. I know that it is cold and unusual for your weather this time of year. But I do love when snow covers everything like in your pictures.
I recently read a book called, "Two Old Women" that was an Alaskan Legend-it was so good and I thought of the book when you mentioned the homeless people living in this kind of weather. Perhaps you could find it in French? It is such a good tale.

The pictures are beautiful, Michel. We had snow here also on March 1. School started an hour late for most students and Katie did not have school at all since she only goes in the morning. Julie will be jealous of your snow and will be moaning that they never get snow. I would be happy not to have any more since we have had so much but can understand that it is a big event where you are. Enjoy it, it really is beautiful!! I loved all the views from your house, you have a lovely neighborhood! Karen

She ( Julie ) is a DARK shade of green with envy, she even told me about your snow when she rang a short while ago. As someone said ... snow is for Christmas cards ! I hope Janine gets to see her father soon and safely too. Lovely photos BTW... the way I like to admire snow - from a distance.

Le paysage est magique et très pur, vu de l'intérieur auprès d'un bon feu et buvant un breuvage chaud. Mais si on est dehors, ça devient beaucoup moins gai. L'hiver n'est pas ma saison préférée.
Je ne comprends franchement pas pouquoi nombre de sans-abri, que ce soit chez vous ou ailleurs, refusent l'hébergement quand il leur est offert par des conditions difficiles.

Looks like you have a little surprise for your first day of March
It is doing the same thing here right now, after getting another 10 inches a couple of days ago. I think it is a good idea for you to view it from inside where you have no danger of a auto accident. I try not to drive until after the storms are over and the roads are cleared. Good idea for Janine to wait before driving to see her father, it will be much safer..
I enjoyed your pictures. In the first one it appears that it is snowing quite hard. The one good thing about your storm, I imagine that it will not last very long there, and will soon be melted. Enjoy the beauty of it while it lasts.

Il neige beaucoup en Philadelphie aussi... j'en ai marre!
Mais la neige francaise, je la trouve plus belle. 
Here in Colorado Springs we are snow free and the day is bright and clear. Your photos are lovely. But I'm hoping very much for Spring and Jonquils SOON.
The snow is beautiful, but I don't think I would want to live with it. I didn't know that sand and salt is put on the snow, that is really interesting. I just wonder where the salt ends up. We have areas where salt from the ground has risen with the raising ground water levels and has made the land useless....nothing will grow in these salty inland environments. This is due to two hundred years of clearing our fragile land of trees. So the idea of deliberatly putting salt on the ground is a very strange one to me.
Autumn has started here. It is noticable only because the days are becoming shorter, and I now rise in the mornings before the sun. I hope you will get some nice Spring weather soon and that your vegetable garden will do well again this year. I imagine that once the snow melts it will be time to start work in the garden?
Very pretty! I've wanted snow this winter, but we haven't had any snow worth talking about. A little ice, but that's it. It snowed here today too, but only a dusting.

What a beautiful snow...big flakes! I like the second picture best with the red bricks and evergreens contrasting the white snow. It is still cold and snowy in Illinois, too. I am sending warm greetings to you both.

I've actually never experienced snow in all my years of existence. It looks amazing and so "clean". I probably wouldn't be used to it though and would need twice as much winter clothing as other people!

how pretty! we don't get much snow here in alabama, but i did see a decent amount when i was in pennsylvania once =) be careful if you get out in the weather.

alors vous me demandiez l'autre fois comment vous pouvez afficher-diffuser une vidéo sur votre Xanga. C'est très simple, surtout en ce qui concerne les sites comme le mien : il vous suffit de bloquer-copier-coller l'objet virtuel en question dans une de vos rédactions d'entrée comme n'importe quel texte ou image et vous pouvez vérifier le code HTML par vous mêmes en cochant sur la page d'édition HTML.
Ce faisant, il vous est facile de repérer l'adresse initiale d'où la vidéo est stockée, et à partir d'elle vous pouvez rectifier les codes aux alentours selon vos besoins. J'avoue que ma méthode n'est pas des plus sophistiquées mais y'a pas grand secret non plus. Le recentrage de la dernière vidéo en date a emprunté les codes de tabulation (TABLE align=center TBODY, etc...). Donc dès que j'ai une vidéo qui me plaît, je repère la source, puis je reproduis à peu près à chaque fois les mêmes codes sauvegardés au préalable.
Le XV de France ont été épatants à Twickenham alors qu'ils traînaient au score durant la majeure partie du match, mais malheureusement les gallois ont fait le même exploit sur votre pelouse ! Quel audace et courage pour revenir au score ainsi ! Faut dire que durant la 1ère mi-temps, défaut habituel, les français se sont trop occupés à faire le beau jeu sans pouvoir concrétiser dans les temps forts. Le match fut un délice à regarder du point de vue technique, les Bleus ont mieux joué que durant les deux matches précédents...L'ironie du sport !
Et enfin, en ce qui concerne votre entrée, c'est une bien jolie ballade que vous nous offrez-là. Il fait bien frisquet mais de la lumière reflètée par la couche blanche émane certes un effet appaisant.

Oh my, I love those kind of snows. Not the dangerous street part, but the beauty of it. It was bitter cold here in Midwest USA yesterday, but no snow. We have gotten very little snow this season. The folks on the Northest coast are getting it all.

Obviously, I am not making site visits or blogging right now, so I cannot really expect people to be visiting me. My life is very hectic at the moment. I am hoping that it will slow down a little soon!
I sympathize with your snow! When you are not accustomed to it, it is hard to handle. We have snow on the ground now, too, and very cold temperatures, but that is normal for Minnesota at this time of year. We have another 2 months of the possible snow season. Usually in March we get about 10 1/2 inches of snow, This year we have less than usual so far this winter, so we shall see what happens between now and spring!

Be careful when you shovel...the medical experts say that shoveling can be dangerous for he heart. How warm is it normally in Amiens in the month of March? I like very much the heavy iron gate. How long have you and your family lived there?

oui c'est vraiment un vrai hiver pour tous !!
il y a 15 jours, un sans abri a dormi devant notre porte au 5eme étage ... (la porte de notre immeuble ne ferme pas toujours correctement); je l'ai entendu s'installer (avec sa bouteille!) vers les 1h du matin et pouvais distinguer son ombre au travers de l'oeil de boeuf ... que faire me suis-je dit ? J. et le concierge (sans doute) dormaient du sommeil des justes et j'ai pensé que ce pauvre hère méritait aussi son sommeil pour une nuit "grand luxe sur notre palier avec radiateur et tableaux amcolours
" on pourrait toujours aviser au matin ... vers 7h15 lorsque J. sortit pour le bureau, il venait de s'en aller par l'ascenseur laissant flotter une légère odeur de cigarette ...

What a treat even though it also means extra work and the need to be very careful when driving. Many parts of America do not get snow or only get it on rare occasions. When I lived in New England there was much snow each winter. It was always beautiful. The cycle of seasons brings new delights with passing time.

Those were really nice pictures, Michel. Thanks for sharing them. It's a very nice neighborhood. Please be careful in the snow....and don't overdo with the shoveling. How are your choir rehearsals going? We got our programs for Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday. We on ly have two more practices before Palm Sunday. At the last practice, the entire tenor section was sick. I hope they are better for the Holy Days. How is all with your choirs?

In America a woman can be addressed as Miss (Mademoiselle) or Mrs. (Madame) or Ms. which doesn't depend on marital status. Is there a word for Ms in French?

I absolutely love the pictures.... and I am so very jealous! We didn't get any snow this season and I am very disappointed. Maybe we should trade places for a day or so because I am enjoying 60-70 degree temperature and playing in my garden. I have onions, garlic and brussel sprouts growing outside and other things are planted. The trees are budding out and bulbs are starting to bloom. These are the first signs of Spring for us. But I hear it is cold in Italy and that is where I will be in a few days. We leave Thursday for a 10 day trip. We do stop in France but only to change planes. I'll wave when we fly over.

Oh my gosh, that is so beautiful! You're so fortunate! It's been raining a lot (by that, I mean A LOT! Like three years worth of rain or more) here, and it's dreadful. Actually, it's not tha bad, but I miss snow dearly. It never snows in where I live, and that indeed IS dreadful. Well, thanks for sharing that with us.

Oui, c'est très important d'avoir quelque overture à l'est parce que le Soleil le rèigne et il a beaucoup d'influence sur les hommes dans la maison en particulièr. Mais on peut corriger cette imperfection par poser un "yantra" de soleil sur le mur. Si tu es intéressé, je peux t'envoyer qq liens sur l'internet. Une peinture avec les couleurs chauds est aussi une bonne idé! Bisous et bonne soirée!

We have 13 inches of snow on the ground at our home right now. I sure am ready for winter to be finished. I need spring time with flowers shooting out from the ground. I want to see green grass again. Ah well, soon ...............

Were having strange weather here also. March is coming in like a lamb here. Its about 70 to 74 degrees and windy today. Its beautiful. It gets lighter here, stays lighter longer now and we've also seen the robins. Spring is coming and so looking forward to it. Hope all is well. Take care and your welcome. LOLOL

My friend, I feel your pain. We are getting more snow than usual in Mannheim and Heidelberg, also. Denise is in Fulda, which is in a bit of a higher altitude, so she's used to all the snow they get. I'm not! She keeps trying to teach me to ski, but I'm just not that excited about it. Snow simply isn't my thing. It's too damn cold!
While skiing this past weekend, I had managed to make it most of the way down the mountain without falling too much. I had stopped, and was talking to Denise when this little girl about as tall as my knees came from no where and ran into me...fast. Skis, sticks, little girls and Derrols went everywhere! Quite an adventure. Thankfully, she was ok. Not me! I smacked my head pretty good, and had a pounding headache and dizziness. Everything's okay now, though.

That is a very nice neighborhood you live it, from what I see in the pictures. Nice yard! And pretty in the late snow, too. I am hoping to see spring, too, when all will be fresh and new again. Until then, I enjoy the snow while it is here.

the dress wasnt too terribly ugly, but it was so greasy and dirty that i feared that i would catch a disease wearing it!

haha! its not my dress and its so old they're afraid the fabric will fall apart! the only thing that holds it together is the grease!

thankyou for your kind words - we have weird weather here also - I think the tsunami has something to do with it & also global warming though it does look like global chilling where you are.....it is always hard to imagine snow in the city for me....
I remember going to England with my mum - we woke up and it was snowing outside - incroyable!!! zut alors!!!! and then we thought to go out sight seeing not thinking that services would be delayed because of snow - they were - we waited very long times for transport while stomping in the snow to keep warm - but oh! the prettiness of it all!

Oh, la France semble comme Indiana. Il neige aujourd'hui, mais pas beaucoup. Le temps faisait beau, il y a deux jours. Le temps change rapidement.
