Parmi le photos qu ' une amie du Canada m 'a envoyées récemment , celle - ci m ' a paru particulièrement apaisante . C ' est la photo d ' une petite - fille préparant une boisson à sa grand ' mère . L ' affectueux dévouement de la petite fille est suggéré par sa posture .
En plus l ' ensemble de la photo , les contraste des ombres et des lumières met en valeur les personnages . Cet effet de clair - obscur . m ' a fait penser tout de suite aux fameuses peintures de Rembrandt . Avez vous aussi remarqué la diagonale qui structure ce tableau ? pardon , cette photographie . Cette construction , les effets de lumière , le jeu des couleurs et l ' attitude des deux personnages forment un ensemble qui laisse une impression d ' harmonie et de paix .
Cela incite aussi à la méditation .sur notre monde .

Among the pictures recently sent to me by a Canadian friend this one seemed to me particularly peaceful . It is the picture of a grand daughter preparing a drink to her grand mother . The grand daughter affectionate devotion is suggested by her posture .
More , the whole of the photo , the contrasts between shadow and light advantage the pictured people . This light and shade effect made me immediatly think of the famous paintings of Rembrandt . Did you notice the diagonale that structures this painting , pardon , this photography . By this construction , the light effects , the colour game and the attitude of the two people , the general effect of the picture gives an impression of harmony and peace .
This may lead also to the meditation on our world .
Up Date two : Clémentine , our 12th grand children born yesterday is doing very well . Needless to say she is wonderful .

I looked at the picture again after you mentioned the diagonal light and there is a line between the dark and the light!!! What a cool picture! Makes you want to look deeper into all pictures.
This picture made me think of my own grandmas and the love I feel for them.
What a restful picture! The love the granddaughter has for her grandmother can be seen. The composition if excellent. The colors do remind one of the richness of the masters of another era.

When I saw the picture I thought directly of Rembrandt, but ther light of Rembrandt was not electric,was warmer light, not the cold light we see in the photo. The world of Rembramdt was a world created by him. In the photo we see reality.
What is the difference?.
A very important place in this picture is taken by the remote contole of the TV. iWas this a choice of the photograph or was just a coincidence?
Answer to carlo : I am glad you have thought directly to Rembrandt like me . But it ' s a Rembrandt of the year 2002 !( and in photography ) . To every period its technics .

Hey Michel! I know those people!!
You are correct, they do look peaceful. I am glad mom went to the get-together because the girls love to have her present for these things. It is much more fun to have the WHOLE family for holidays and special occasions. Mike and I will arrive there on Christmas if all goes as planned. I am looking forward to seeing them.
Take care of those 12 grandchildren. I know they must love their grandpa and grandma.

The photo made me think of Rembrandt too. My monitor displays everything very dark, and at times makes colours appear far different than others see them. Grey is a dark brown, for instance.
But although I couldn't see there was a second person in the photo, it has the mysterie of the great painters!

that really is a sweet photo. the only critique i'd offer (i know, i'm such a pill) is that the composition could benefit from cropping the left slice... but certainly, i don't wish to take anything away from the image itself.
