• Allons faire un tour au jardin . (4)     Le potager .

  
  

    Vous entrez dans le potager en passant sous un arc de roncier . Surprise : l ' allée n ' est pas droite . Elle serpente . Peut - être pensez - vous que le jardinier a l ' habitude de boire avant d ' aller au jardin . Mauvaises pensées ! L ' allée , en fait , évite les branches croissantes de deux vieux pommiers cordons . Donc elle tourne à gauche puis revient à droite pour éviter cette fois un long buisson bas de sauge de l ' autre côté . Puis vous devez franchir un goulot entre cette sauge et les groseillers rouges et blancs recouverts d 'un filet contre les merles . ( l ' an passé toutes les groseilles rouges disparurent en une nuit ) Enfin l ' allée va droit au grand cerisier ( bigarreau ) qui marque presque la fin du potager où vous pouvez aussi admirer une magnifique route de Lys et aussi regarder des buissons de ronce et de groseiller à maquereau . Il y a quelqu ' un là dans le jardin . C ' est moi . Je sème des haricots à l ' ombre du grand cerisier . Il y a 31 ° C aujourd ' hui . Avez - vous vu les légumes ? Non , naturellement ! Vous étiez occupés à manger les groseilles et à regarder les cerises dans l ' arbre comme les merles . Heureusement l ' allée fait le tour du jardin  Vous pourrez donc en revenant voir les laitues que j ' ai repiquées hier , puis les haricots bien poussés . Faites attention ! L ' allée tourne encore pour éviter cette fois un long buisson de framboisiers situé dans la bordure . De là vous voyez les oignons , échalottes , ail que j ' arracherai bientôt . Puis les choux pour l ' automne , 4 routes de pois que nous allons cueillir maintenant . Ensuite 4 routes de jeunes carottes qui espèrent échapper à la terrible Mouche de la Carotte et 5 routes de jeunes poireaux . La culture est en retard d ' un mois à cause des pluies incessantes du printemps . La terre n ' a pu être travaillée et on n ' a pas pu semer à temps . Après une route de tomates , voici le parc de pommes de terre . La récolte sera pauvre car elles ont été plantées tard puis elles ont été attaquées par le mildiou . Dur , le jardin potager ! En outre la terre est une sorte d ' argile rouge à silex très difficile à travailler . Mais quelle joie de produire soi - même la nourriture de base . Et je ne parle pas des émotions ressenties dans ce potager que je relate dans mon website ci - contre . Travailler dans le potager est comme un combat pour la vie .

Then you have to pass in a narrowing between that sage and red and white currant bushes covered with net against blackbirds ( The last year all the redcurrants disappeared during only one night ) . At last the path goes straight to a big cherry tree ( whiteheart ) that almost marks the end of the kitchen garden where you can admire a row of wonderful white lily and also look at a bush of blackberry and gooseberry . Someone is there . It ' s me . I am sowing string bean seeds in the shadow of the big cherry tree . Today we read a temperature of 31 ° C . Did you see the vegetables ? No , naturally ! You were busy to eat redcurrants and look at the cherries in the tree like blakbirds ! Fortunatly the path runs all around the vegetable garden . You will be able in going back to see lettuce I have transplanted yesterday , then string beans well grown up . Take care the path turns again to avoid a long raspberry bush situated in the border . From there you see onion , shalott , garlic that I will lift soon . Then : cabbage for the next automn , four rows of peas which I am going to pick now . Four rows of young carrots hope to escape at the terrible Carrot Fly , then you see 5 rows of young leeks . Agriculture is a month late because of the unceassant rains of the spring . Impossibility to dress the grown and sowing .  At last after a row of tomatoe you see the park of potatoes . The product will be poor since the potatoes have been planted late and the mildew has attacked them . Hard , the vegetable garden ! Besides the soil is a kind of red kley with many flints . It is very difficult to turn over and dress . But what a joy to product on his own the primary food ! And how many emotions I have felt in that garden which I relate in my website . Working in the kitchen garden looks like a fight for life .
