La messe du jour des Rameaux est la plus longue de l’ année . En effet il y a d’abor la célébration des rameaux commémorant l’ entrée triomphale  de Jésus à Jérusalem au moment de la Pâque . Une foule applaudissait et agitait des feuillages , ( des rameaux ). Jésus restait stoïque car il savait le sort qui lui serait réservé le lendemain . Donc pendant la première parte on chante des hosannas et les gens lèvent leur rameaux qui sont ici du buis ( Buxus sempervirens : buis  toujours vert). Le buis béni sera porté sur les tombes l’ après –midi et il était de tradition d’ en accrocher aux crucifix dans la maison.

 The mass of Palm day is the longest of the year . Indeed there is at first the celebration of the palms commemorating the triumphal arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem just before the jewish  Paque. A crowd applauded et made waves with foliages t( the palms). Jesus was stoic , he knew his fate the day after . So in Amiens , in the first part of the celebration we sing hosannas and people raise their stems  of box with leaves ,(Buxux sempervirens :  Box always green ).
This box ,blessed, was put on the graves in the afternoon and it was a tradition to put a branch  at the crucifix in the house

Après ce temps commence la messe proprement dite où  lit, et où on chantait il n’ya guère le Christus factus est ( j’ ai mis les paroles en dessous  de la video .sur You Tube.   After this time the mass sensu stricto  begins.  Et ensuite on écoute debout l’ evangile de St Marc qui raconte la Cène, la trahison de Judas , l’ arrrestation de jésus après son angoisse à Getsemani , son interrogatoire avec supplice et finalement sa mort dans un suprême supplice: la crucifixion . et enfin la mise au tombeau .  Jésus nous a montré volontairement ce qui nous attend tous avec au bout l’ espérance de la résurrection. J’ ai cru bon ici de mettre Mystère du Calvaire  ( musique de Bach paroles de Rimaud et Rozier)

Then stand up to listen the long gospel  according Marc. He relates the last supper,the  Cene,the treason of Judas , the arrestation of Jesus after his terrible anxiety at Getsemani, his interrogatory with torture and finally his dead nailed on the cross  and at last his corpse put in tomb. Jesus shows voluntarily to us what was waiting for us  with at the end the hope of the resurrection. I though it was appropriate to place above the song "Mystere du Calvaire " ( music de JS Bach)

 Comme maintenant les familles et les tombes  sont dispersées nous faisons deux voyages avant  les Rameaux pour visiter tous nos défunts là où ils ont vécu et où nous les avons aimés. Et le jour des Rameaux nous visitons les tomebes à Amiens et proches environs 

Now many families are scattered on a country or in the world . We make two rather short travels to vist our dear departed , there, where they lived and loved us. We will have a special thought for our xanga friends who are now in the light of God:

Hier je rentrai un peu épuisé d’une séance de kiné . Personne dans la maison .Je devinais que Janine était en train de travailler dans le jardin. Il m’ est totalement interdit de faire quoi que ce soit depuis mon opération à la colonne vertébrale en Décembre dernier.
 j’ allais donc au potager et de fait ma femme était là , au travail. Elle était dans un beau décor de jardin de fin d’hiver comme une cerise sur le gâteau

Yesterday I came back home from the physical therapy, a bit exhausted. No one was in the house . I guessed Janine was working in the garden . It is totally forbidden for me to  do whatever since my spine surgery last December

 I went to the veggie garden . and of course my wife was there, working . She was in the beautiful décor of a garden at the end of the winter, like a cherry on a cake .

Elle avait planté un rang de 24 laitues achetées la veille, fabriqué un tunnel de voile pour les protéger des oiseaux, insectes, limaces et leur apporter des conditions favorables à la croissance. Sur la photo elle bèche autour du tunnel la terre où elle a dû piétiner .

On remarquera au fond de la photo les poireaux semés l’ an passé et aussi the le bout d’un tunnel abritant des carottes semées l’ an passé en été .

She had just planted a row of 24 lettuces bought the day before, made a tunnel of veil to shelter against birds, insects, slugs and to create the best conditions for the growing. On the picture above she is digging around the tunnel the soil where she  had been forced to step on,.

At the background of the picture we can see two rows of  leeks sown last year and the end of a tunnel sheltering carrots sown last summer ?                 

A la fin nous sommes rentrés à la maison parfumée par l‘odeur divine des poireaux récoltés le matin  même et laissés dans l’ entrée de service.. Je dois dire que le spectacle du jardin avec Janine au milieu, le plaisir de voir le début des plantations et des semis , l’ odeur des poireaux frais et l’ air du potager m’avaient fait oublier la douleur lombaire. J’ espère pouvoir pendant le printemps de faire à nouveau ces travaux de jardin et autres,  peut – être avec un peu d’ aide..

La foi soulève les montagnes.

At the end we came back in our home perfumed by a divine smell of leeks harvested in the morning and left in the service entrance . I have to say that the show of the garden with Janine in , the pleasure to see the start of the planting and soon the sowing , the smell of the fresh leeks and  the air of the veggie garden  made me forget my lower back pain. I hope to be able during the spring to make the works in this garden and elsewhere , perhaps with some help .
Faith lifts the mountains.

 Faire la soupe

Après la récolte des légumes , Janine fait la soupe . Sur la photo ci-dessus la cuisson des végétaux ( poireaux, carottes, pomme de terre ) dans l’ eau avec un peu de sel  et feuilles de céleri dans une cocotte-minute est terminée Janine mixe le tout pour obtenir la soupe aux légume ou potage, liquide plus ou moins épais  avec un parfum inexprimable . Je dois dire qu’ en attendant le délice du goût j’ ai le délice de regarder la jolie fée de la maison en action dans une beau festival de belles  couleurs  riches en contrastes.

 After the harvest of  the veggies , Janine makes the soup . On the first picture the cooking of the veggies ( leeks, carrots, potatoes ) with water , some salt and celery leaves in a cooker pressure  is ended . Janine is mixing the all to make a soup that appears like a liquid more less thick with a inexpressible scent. This soup is called "potage " in French . I have to say in waiting for the delight of the taste I have the delight to watch the lovely home fairy in action in a beautiful festival of richly contrasted colors

Ceci est la soupe ordinaire aux légumes que nous mangeons presque chaque jour . Vous voulez un nom scientifique ? Disons ' pulmenti vulgaris " . A plate of soup . Une assiette de potage .
This the basic soup that we eat almost on a daily basis . You want a scientific name for it ? Go for "pulmenti vulgaris" . This being said Janine makes more elitist soups ( with asparagus, yellow pepper, squashes, pumpkins, tomatoes, leeks, onion of course ). Le soleil levant dorait le tronc du vieil érable et allumait le forsythia tel un buisson arden . J’ en avais le souffle coupé et j’en oubliais de manger le petit déjeuner  à regarder ce spectacle divin dans ma modeste cour . Je pensais que c’était bientôt mon anniversaire cette semaine. Ce magnifique décor n’ était certainement pas pour moi  mais j’ai pu apprécier le plaisir de ce bain de lumière 

 The sunrise gilded the trunk of the old maple tree and lit the forsythia like a burning bush. It was breathtaking and  I forgot to eat my breakfast in front of  this divine spectacle in my modest courtyard .  I thought it was soon my birthday this week. This wonderful decor  was certainly not for me but I could enjoy the pleasure of this bath of light

Pour répondre à cette question j' ai seulement trouvé deux photos . La première, ci-dessous a été prise en 2006. L ' arbre avait été élagué les années précédentes en 2005 ou 2004.Regardez l' épaisseur au bout des branches coupées et vous pourrez vous représenter comme elles étaient grosses. L 'une d'elles atteignait le toit de la maison du voisin. Si on utilise la photo comme référence les branches auraient atteint son sommet. L ' arbre était déjà là quand nous avons acheté la maison en 1986.

To answer to this question I found only two pictures . The one above was taken, in 2006. The tree has been trimmed the previous years in 2005 or 2004 . Look a the thickness of the end of the cut branches and you can figure how big they were . One of then reached the roof od the neighbor's house . In refering to the photo the branches reached the top. The tree already was there when we bought the house in 1986

Finalement l' arbre était encore trop haut et, étant de plus en plus vieux devenait fragile . Je n' étais plus très rassuré pour la maison du voisin en cas de tempête. Nous l' avons donc tronçonné ce qui nous a donné du bois pour la cheminée. Cependant nous avons conservé une bonne partie de la base du tronc  et avec les nouvelles pousses cela a encore bonne allure( voir la première photo ) sans toutefois avoir la splendeur du passé. Plus, les champignons commencent à l' attaquer. Nous verrons ce qu'il en sera.

Finally it was still too high and  older and older became frail and I was not too reassured for the neighbor's house  in case of storm . So we cut it by fragments and we got wood for the fire place . However we kept the basis of the tree and with the new banches  it still has a good look (see the first photo) but not the splendor of the past . More ,mushroms start to attack it ? we will see what happens.

En rangeant mon bureau je me trouvais confronté à un  tas de papiers anciens. Je devais  jeter  de façon impitoyable des  documents que j’ avais élaborés ou utilisés  autrefois . C’ est ainsi que j’ ai retrouvé cette photo envoyée comme carte de Noël et Nouvel an . Un visage aimable et souriant. Un regard franc . L’intérieur de la carte était écrit à la main en français et c’était signé Sara Shanks. L’ enveloppe n’ était plus là donc plus d’ adresse . Sara devait être parmi ces nombreux amis de Xanga  d’il ya 6 ou 7 ans.   C’ est si triste d’ avoir eu tant d’ amis dont on a perdu trace .
  J’ aurais aimé retrouver cette Sara Shanks qui à l’ époque avait manifesté tant de prévenance en envoyant à Janine et à moi une carte-photo et nous souhaitant la bonne année .
 Avez – vous déjè rencontré de telle situations ?

Peut-être la connaissez-vous Sara Shanks   comme elle est sur la photo ?

Tidying my desk I faced a bunch of old papers. I had to throw without mercy  a lot documents that I had developed or used before.. In doing this  I have found this photo above sent to Janine and I  as a Christmas Card and New Year. A friendly and smiling face. A frank look. The inside of the card was handwritten in French  and it was signed Sara Shanks. The envelope was no longer there so no address nor year. Sara would be among the many friends Xanga of 6 or 7 years ago or more. It is so sad to have had so many friends that we have lost trace.
   I would have liked to find again  this Sara Shanks who at the time had shown so much kindness by sending to  Janine and me a photo card and wishing us a happy  year. Perhaps you know  Sara Shanks like she is on the photo?

J’ ai retrouvé Sara !
 I found again Sara!

English version below the picture

 Enfin avec facebook j’ ai retrouvé Sara Shanks  assez rapidement Lundi soir vers minuit heure française. J’ ai mis sur facebook la même entrée qu’ici sur Xanga  et elle répondit en français comme sur l’ancienne carte de Noël. Bon français écrit, même physionomie : sans aucun doute c’était elle. A première vue ce n’était pas évident  parce qu’il y avait plusieurs Sara Shanks ou Sarah Shanks . Et maintenant c’ est Madame  Sara Rush-Shanks. Elle est mariée et a trois enfants ,et, comme dans un conte de fée toute la famille apparaît heureuse.

  Je suis soulagé parce que cette photo-carte m’intriguait depuis tant d’années  mauis j’ abandonnais  toujours la recherche de l’ espéditrice. Mais hier soir je suis allé de l’ avant et j’ ai réussi. Qielques amis m’ont aidé sur facebook . Facebook n’ est pas un site pour bloguer  mais un site social efficace ( pour le bon usage )

I found again Sara !

Finally with facebook I found Sara Shanks  rather quickly last Monday around midnight (French hour ) . I put the same entry on facebook as here on Xanga . and she answered in French like on the  ancient Christmas card .   Good French writing, same look , without any doubt it was her . At first sight it was not so obvious because there were several  Sara Shanks or Sarah Shanks . And now  this is Lady Sara Rush-Shanks . She is married and she got three children  and like in a fairy tale all of the  family looks happy.

 I am relieved because   this photo-card intrigued me for so many years but I always gave up to find again  the sender. But yesterday I went ahead and succeeded .  Some friends helped me on facebook .  Facebook is not a place for blogging but is a social site efficient ( for a good use.)
