Smartphone learning.
Apprentissage du smartphone
Smartphone learning
English version below the pictures
You remember that our children offered to Janine a smartphone as a Christmas gift. Until then she used a basic cell phone and was become the queen of the SMS. But using a smartphone, it's a change of world and you make a giant step in mastering new technologies
Our son Pierre teaching his mother Janine
She needed help and lesson to use this new communication tool. Our second son Peter came last Monday to teach her the basics of using. I must say that she learned very quickly and I am in awe.
Probably you are wondering what I think of smartphones. A little story will suffice. A few times ago I was in a doctor's waiting room. We were four. Three were playing with their smartphone in silence and me , I was there, necessarily dumb looking at them. Without any doubt, communication is improving! ! All of wonderful tool needs a good use.

Good for Janine, learning new things keeps our minds alert! Communication is improving, however I do miss the days when you could have a conversation without someone having to check their phones. What about you Michel, will you get one of the smart phones? ilym
Perhaps, Marsha ,once to come
I am not that fond of using phones (for the most part) but carry my Kindle Fire around... very smart, but not a smart phone. Then I can read books, play games, do internet stuff like emails, Xanga, etc.
I love to see pictures of you and Janine and your other family! God bless you all with a wonderful 2015! Love ~ Carolyn
One of my sons gave me a smart phone and for the first month I had it I called it anything but a smart phone. Actually it wasn't the phone, it was me. But I, like Janine, am learning. Hoping you will have a Happy New Year full of blessings.
Hugs and love, Char
The smartphone is a tool - it is used or misused by people. It isn't about the phone but rather the manners of those using it.
What a great gift! I'm sure Janine will love it!
) I questioned their intelligence!
HA!
Good thing there are always kids around who can explain the new tech stuff to us well-seasoned-ones!
I love my smart phone! When they sold it to me (smart phone sold to dumb woman
What you shared about being in the Dr's office. That bothers me, too. I like to chat with people. And to see everyone constantly on their phones or checking their phones is weird and rude. Hard to get used to.
HUGS!!!
My opinion is that this you who make this phone smart, Carolyn.
I'm not fond of the smartphones either. I use mine for basic talking and messages. It's good to learn new things at any age. Keeps us young.
RYC: Thank you, Michel for your sweet comments re: my husband and my picture, and also re: the new post. I usually use my laptop computer to do my blog posts, because it is easier to do so. I have done short blogs with my Kindle.
Are you thinking about getting a Kindle?
Love ~ Carolyn
I got my Dad, age 91 yesterday, a smartphone a few months ago. He loves it. He has some trouble tapping the right numbers and letters and accidently deletes apps. Sometimes he plays with my phone and adds new games that I don't necessarily want to play...but I laugh and enjoy him
"Je suis Charlie", What does it mean?

You will get the answer to your question<;
Thank you, Michel, you are so kind!
I am praying for you, your family, and France today.
(((HUGS)))
This is what is hard for me... the children, they think they are doing such a great favor buying this technology for their parents... what they don't see is how much nicer it is without this technology. I was just thinking the other day that I guess they have no memory of ever being without, so they know no different.
I got a smart phone for my mother and a lap top for my father. To go with I laminated How to guides for the basic usage. As they want to do more I make new pages. Now they can do most of it on their own. And my Dad can email his friends and people can talk with my mom when she is out running around helping her friends.
another story, I took my kids out to eat at a nice restaurant. There were 2 other families there. First family kids and parents were all submerged in their devices, smartphones and game consoles. Second family kids were running amok and the parents were submerged in their phones every once in a while hissing or talking meanly to their kids to calm down. Then there was us. We were conversing, laughing chatting and having fun. As other people that were there on dates or just by themselves could be heard commenting about my kids and me. The comments were good. I am teaching my kids moderation in all things, food, drink and electronic devices.
Thanks for sharing a bit of you live with us.
Janine is still young at heart.
I don't have a smart phone yet, or an IPad. I'm lucky to know how to use my cell phone, computer, and camera. My kids try to explain things to me, but they do it so fast, and I forget so easily. Oh well.
Now here is a concept...a son LOVING and assisting his beautiful mother. How nice! He is patient and kind, and she learns quickly from her UNSELFISH adult child.Duly noted!
You're both looking good!
My how things have changed since we first met on Xanga!
I really like my smart phone. It's like a small computer. I'm not good on texting though.
I forgot to add:
HAVE A BLESSED NEW YEAR.
Let's keep in touch.
Hi Michel, Sorry it is wet where you are today. It feels so much colder when it is damp. Sometimes I have to go out into the cold to come back in and feel the warmth. I think it gives the body thermostat a jolt of reality.
When I just stay inside it just keeps feeling not warm inside.
I trust that your healing and recovery from surgery is still going well.
Peace and blessings on your day,
Lynn
RYC about my daughter Sarah. She works for a wine distributor called the Country Vintner, a fine wine importer and wholesaler, My son-in-law is the Wine and Vineyard Manager at Sunset Hills. Last year they leased a vineyard of their own and will bottle a Rose' and a Sauvignon, their wine will be labeled as Walsh Family Wines - they continue to work for the distributor and Sunset Hills also. I never knew how much work went into producing a bottle of wine, they both love their work, I am so proud of them! ilym p.s. I should do a blog about their work!
First of all, a very happy new year to you and the entire family, Michel! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
I know very little about Smartphones, so I applaud Janine in her gaining knowledge of how to use one. Perhaps one day she'll be able to teach me!
Cheers!
Michel -- I awoke this morning to the breaking news of not one, but two hostage situations coming to an end. I am relieved that this terrible episode is over, and glad that the suspects are no longer able to hold all of France hostage. My thoughts have been with you over the last couple of days, and sincerely wish for peace in the days to come!
There is a down side to all this technology. People no longer talk to each other.
Also more medical problems with posture.
The iPhones have an incredible technologie but my
Fiingers are too fat for it.
It is incredible what you can do with it.
I was also in a docter wating room. No iPhone, but people did no talk to each other either. Reading some magazines.
Amitie
Carlo
Ps: I have missed this blog.
