  • In a misty wood in Kent (England)/ and Happy Thanksgiving!

Dans un bois brumeux dans le Kent (Angleterre)
In a misty wood in Kent(England)

    November 24th

    English version below the picture

In a misty wood in Kent (England)

The troop progresses slowly in following a trail.
What were they doing in this wood ?
Were they looking for Robin Hood?
But it was not the forest of Sherwood.

The three last hikers have a particular posture .
The tall red hair one is my daughter Veronique. Why was she laughing like that ?
In any case there was fun in the air.

Nearer, my other daughter Isabelle looks attentively in the depth of the grove.
he is a great observer and not any tiny mushroom escapes neither to her sight
nor to her basket. Trees and wild flowers speak to her.

But at the foreground what is this young English lady doing?
With her posture she looks like she is a defender.
Perhaps is she a triumphant British guard
or, perhaps is she drunk of wildness and expresses her happiness ?

If you have some spare time , let go for a walk in the woods.

  • A walk in the woods - no matter the place or time is made fun when enjoyed with friends! I would like to go for one more geocaching jaunt before the weather turns brutal.. alas, today is raining with a howling wind. No time to be outdoors - the dog is even reluctant to go out!

  • I love the way they are all wearing boots... so much more practical than us americans. :-)
I love going for walks in the woods, just for the leisure of it.
I love the way Europeans are so good at finding the wild mushrooms to eat. It seems to be an ordinary thing. When my daughter was in Italy visiting with relatives, the father took the children to go and get mushrooms for dinner... my daughter went along for the walk and was amazed at how they know which ones can be eaten. Americans are so out of touch with nature... so used to everything coming from the shelves of grocery stores. I would like to see this changed here in the states.
I also watched a program once that showed how this 70 year old lady in Italy went out and picked wild asparagus, came home and cooked it in a bit of olive oil for dinner each day. I would like to live like that. Simple.

  • Nice poem! It inspires me to go for a walk in the woods, but I live in the same corner of Indiana as Murisposis does, and as she said, the wind is howling. I really don't want a tree branch to fall on my head. I read your poem in English first, and then in French. My mind is getting lazy.

  • There's not much better than a walk in the woods ~ :)

  • This looks like so much fun. You have beautiful daughters.

  • TY so very much for your comments on my problems with my iPad and apple.

  • I would certainly enjoy being with them.

  • They all look completely at home and could be a merry troupe from the Sherwood Forest of old! :-)

    • The idea of merry troup came to my mind too but in the story they speak of merrymen and in this case it was principally women . The expression of merrytroup is quite suitable. Thanks Nancy.

  • Haha :)

  • I must take more walks even if it's coat weather! Good for the soul. Enjoyed your poetry walk. :-)

    • Yes Miriam walking in the woods whith a group of hikers was my pleasure and at this time I was a connoisseur of mushrooms

  • This is so beautiful, Michel! The photo of the walk and your words! :-) Looks like they are having fun! :-)
I love walking anywhere...but the woods and the beach would be my first two choices! :-)
    HUGS!!! :-)

  • awww Michel ~ Happy American Thanksgiving Day to you too! Eat a piece of pumpkin pie with us ~ :)

  • Bravo! Love the poem and the description of the young ladies.
Yes, it is time to give thanks, just like every day of the year.

  • Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving day too. I wonder, does France have a day like that? I guess every day should be Thanksgiving, shouldn't it?

  • Thank you for the Happy Thanksgiving wishes on my WP site!
    HUGS!!! :-)

  • Ty so very much for the Thanksgiving wishes.

  • Ty fo your comments on my photos of cat tails.

  • I wish I could of joined them. As a child I spent much time walking in woods. Either with a sister or friend. As I aged I often went alone and I miss those days.

Thank you for your Thanksgiving wishes Michel. Just the 3 of us here now.

  • Other people like woods and mountains. I prefer beaches and oceans.

  • I haven't gone for a walk in real woods in quite some time. Maybe when we go Christmas tree hunting next week?
    Love, Christine

  • Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes. :-)

  • Good Night, Michel from the Capitola, California, USA, Western Hermisphere Mall while I sip Starbucks coffee and my wife and daughter shop and hop int Maul Mall.

I loved the story telling and photos--a most enjoyable read.

  • There is nothing nicer that a walk on a cold day to lift the spirits. Its a misty murky day here yet again. Your " man cave " looks very comfortable.

  • love the thoughts and the photo. I love how you see the world around you.

Sorry I haven't been able to blog. Money is tight and I wasn't able to renew so I can post again. I should be able to get the money to pay in january or februrary

  • Re you question on my post ~ "Queen Post" is the type of trusses used to build the bridge, as I understand. Another one in that town had "Town Lattice" trusses.

  • Change that "you" to "your" ~ ;)

  • Thank you for stopping by on this Thanksgiving Day in America. :-)

  • I enjoyed the picture and your comments regarding each of the three ladies!
Yes, here in America, we are having our
Thanksgiving. We will be eating ours at 5:00 p.m., with Mom, my brother Don, Mike, & me.
One of the things for which I am thankful is friends like you, Michel! I pray that you are feeling well, and that you have a great week ahead. :-) Love, Carolyn

  • Thank you for thinking of us on this day Michel. Thanksgiving is a special kind of day. Thank you for the comment on my "He said, She said" post. Now I have written a sequel to that.

  • The woods look magical.

  • Ah to wander the forests and wood with such a lovely troupe! just the beauty of their form in the open air amid the branches and leaves speaks to the core of what it means to be alive!

An inspiring photograph accompanied by such an inspired poem. You are blessed.

  • It is very cold to walk in the woods here. I got your comment on my blog, but I can't post because my subscription needs paying. They never notified me so I sent a message to the help@Xanga people. There is nowhere I can find that tells me where to pay, and I have no reply from them yet because it was a long holiday weekend here. I have a new post ready as soon as they let me back on. :(

  • Had a quiet Thanksgiving. Turkey and pumpkin pie all gone. Had time to reflect on what we have to be thankful for. Now onward with Dec. A skiff of snow and it is very cold. Monday a.m. it was only 8F. Later in week will be better with warmer temps, but weatherman says freezing rain :O .

I'm hopeing that the mild winter continues. Hubby waiting for surgery date and it has to be this month. Jan 2015 I see orthopedic doc and have left knee replacement on Feb 18th. The right knee replacement will occur later in the year. Hope all is going well for you and Janine. Christmas is around the corner. Time to remember why we celebrate Christmas. A walk in the English forrest look inviting and enjoyable. Yes, I picked out your red-headed daughter right away. Michel, you and Janine enjoy the festivities of Dec. Love Marilyn

  • PERHAPS SHE IS A MARTIAN LADY TELLING US TO KEEP AWAY FROM THE PEACEFUL WOODS AND LEAVE THE MUSHROOMS BE HAPPY.
PEACE SHE SAYS SHOWING HER FINGERS.

    AMITIE

    CARLO

  • TY so much for your comment on my post about TD's dementia episode and my son.
I am blessed Michel with two wonderful sons.
