  • Horse riding in Jura mountains

Randonnée à cheval dans le Jura

    Horse riding in Jura mountains

    English version below the pictures

The folds of the mountain are made of limestone and clay ,  much covered with forests .

my oldest daughter Carole , the Duchesse who has  not fear of nothing  made a ride,  horseback, in the Jura mountains  during four days in July  . She was with other riders and among them, her Knight . Four days in the mountain ,  through the cloud; under the showers ; and also some sunny times. This mountain was the Jura that stretches in France and Switzerland. The riders were not at the highest sommits of course  but in an area looking like folds with up and downs  determined according the rock : limestone or clay and crossed by deep valleys called cluses

    Pause

Jura mountains are very interesting for the geology . The rocks and the fossils found here have been used as a geological period scale for Europe and the world ( Jurassic period ) and also to call rocks and similar fossil system with the name Jurassic too; This is in the Jurassic rocks the rests of the dinosaurs has been found

A place to pass the night and at the side a very old building.

Carole was admiring the diversity of the landscapes , the abundance of the forests , the cliffs and the deep valleys  but also the cheese and wine of Jura which they enjoyed at the place where they have to pass the night with  the horses too . The place had a part of very olf building.

I think that all of  this gives sensations deeply printed in your soul that we cannot imagine

  • what a wonderful beautiful ride to have been able to take and with the one she loves. Moments that are priceless and last in the memory for life.

  • Greetings Michel, :-) What a joyous experience. Do they own their own horses?

  • Hi Michel---I sure loved these photos. I am to afraid of horses to do that and being out that long would scare me.

Nice to see there are people who can enjoy this part of life.

  • I love the photos of the Duchess and her Knight mounted! Carole's horse has a very expressive face and is so delicate in her build - very dainty! I think it would be a real adventure to take such a long trip on horseback! She must be in her element - the smiles tells all!

    • about the attitudes of Carole’s horse she looks like she begs a pat to be comforted after a hard effort

  • How beautiful......the horses, the scenery, and the people.

  • Gorgeous photos!

  • I felt like I could smell the grass and the mountains. Love the scenery, and the smile of the duchess. What a splendid building that is!

When we were in Switzerland one time, we stayed on Lake Jura, in hotel called the Jura. I wonder if this mountain pass would be anywhere close to the lake. The hotel is probably gone by now. It was a few decades ago that we were there.

  • What a nice trip that must have been.
I was much saddened to learn about our friend Gilbert's passing.

  • OH! What wonderful memories they made! :-)
    Such an amazing journey! :-)
The Duchess and her Knight are a beautiful couple! :-) The Duchess' horse is gorgeous!
    :-)
    HUGS!!! :-)

  • I must agree with all those who have commented. Such a wonderful trip.

ryc on flickr: The stray cat was not soiling my mat at all. He laid on it constantly so we couldn't go out our front door.

The city in their wisdom think he will do fine on his own without care and feeding. It is part of the 'no kill' shelter program. My heart aches for such cats.

  • They look so happy and are having such a wonderful adventure.
Your daughter is lovely and her knight has a beautiful smile and they both looks so happy.

  • Beautiful!! Seeing nature at it's fullest, enjoying the scenery along with the horse ride, and spending time with your own special Knight in Shining Armor, makes it seem magical!!

  • Looks like a gorgeous place to ride. Lovely horses... I don't think I've ridden a horse in about 40 years.

  • Such a joyous time to be out in the mountains AND on a horse. Oh, I envy them. I loved riding everywhere I could.

  • Good morning Michel and Ty of your comments on post of the colorful bouquets from the floral shop up the road.

  • TY for your comment about my post joking about running over people in the aisles at Walmart. It takes great patience for me to go there.

  • My favorite post so far!!

  • What a beautiful place to ride!

  • The world is beautiful as are the people in it! XXXXOOOO

  • I keep coming back to this post to enjoy the pictures and imagine what a wonderful time they must have had. I've always dreamed of cycling through France but riding the back roads on horseback sounds like even more fun.

I have figured out how to renew my Xanga subscription via Paypal so I should be able to post again as soon as my account is reinstated. I'm assuming it will be automatic. If not, I'm not sure how to reactivate it. Now I need to do something fun to write about.

  • looks like a lot of fun.....

  • What a perfect holiday for the Duchess and her Knight. Your grandchildren are growing up fast as well Michel , I like what you wrote about grandmothers spoiling their grandchildren.

  • Really enjoyed being taken along on the journey, it looks fun! The whole experience would've been enjoyable, especially in such a beautiful countryside.
Of course, the horses are so handsome!

  • TY so much for your comment on my post about Robin Williams death being determined suicide.
