    Painting the ceiling

    Peindre le plafond

English version below the pictures(  et avec version française )

Last Saturday, August 9th,  at the end of the day two daughters , Veronique and Isabelle ( Duchess ‘ s sisters of course ) , came back  home from vacation with the intention to stay during some days with the main goal to paint the kitchen ceiling . We have appreciated their kindness.. On the pictures the grandchildren are not there : they are playing in the rooms upstairs

On Sunday  10th of August  in the afternoon the two sisters took off the wall paper and washed the ceiling .  This has be done  carefully and quickly with a lot of laughters and jokes!

    4 styled

and in a very styled attitude! Isabelle looks like a greek statue!!

The two painters, Véronique et Isabelle,  holding their tool and wearing beautiful aprons . Ready!

    5 mise en peinture 11 août 2014
It is hard to apply seriously a bright paint!

5 prime patioire entre deux couches

Between two coats , a bit of ice skating with some grandchildren.

5 tierce préparation de haricots 11 août 2014

    And also preparing the green beans just picked in the veggie garden with Janine;

Monday, August 11th was painting Day. Two coats . The work has been well done . And it was their first ceiling!

Between the two coats , those ladies went in town for ice skating and also in the veggie garden to pick green beans they prepared with Janine, Antoine and Joe.

And later in the deep night a strange show could be seen  in the kitchen. A kind of ghost on a stepladder hung again the lampe at the ceiling and putting on the electric connections , lightened by spots of light which were  reflected on the shining ceiling . The art is anywhere . By the way,  am I really a work of art ?  :)

  • Hi Michel, I was just today, going to come by to ask where you've been. :-)
What awesome daughters to come do that for you.
So you were painting the ceiling and not 'painting the town red'? :-D That is good.
I recognize right off, two of Jeanine's aprons. :-)
Such energy the daughter's have to still be able to go ice skating with children.
What joyous life you have. You look wonderful happy in that first picture.
Did I understand you took down wallpaper too? So you still have to re-paper the kitchen? So industrious you are.
Nice to see an update from you.
    Blessings,
    Lynn

  • Wonderful photos! I especially like the two sisters in aprons ready to battle the kitchen! It is apparent they vanquished the job and the kitchen was made anew. It scares me that you were so high on the ladder reconnecting the electric light fixture. I'm glad it was a success - since you have lived to blog about it!

  • I was very impressed with the gals doing that. That is awesome, Michel. You are blessed.

    frank

  • such wonderful family times ~ :)

  • yes...you are a work of art!!! ilym

  • You are the best that art has to show to us Xanga people. You are an artist par excellence. How good of your daughters to come and paint the ceiling at home, and then take time off to help with the vegetables and go ice skating. Not only are you a work of art, but your children and grand children are also. Celebrate life. Much love,

    Zakiah.

  • Yes, you and your family are works of art. All of us are the work of the Greatest Artist ever. It was so nice of your daughters to help you like that.

  • Yes Michel you really are a wonderful piece of art as is you beautiful family.
    Your daughters are beautiful.

  • Yes, YOU are a work of art...a beautiful work of art, Michel! :-)

Ha! Looks like you made hard work fun with family! :-)

Bet you all had more fun than Michelangelo had while painting "his" ceiling! ;-) :-D

    HUGS!!! ;-)

    • Carolyn, I will tell my daughters they are Michael angelo(s) ! They are good in high ceiling painting . Next time they will paint figurative art!! :)

  • What wonderful daughters!! And the good thing about it, is that they enjoyed doing the work...

And yes Michael, you are a fine piece of art, all the pictures are great, but that last picture, really stands out....

  • How wonderful cooking aprons become painting aprons. :-) I love aprons and have only 2 now that don't go around me. lol

ryc: That was my husband Wil with the hat. I should not assume everyone knows who he is. Did you notice the bright red in the kitchen behind him? I did that many years ago. No way could I paint now.

  • Thank you so much for your comments on my posts, Michel ~ you are so right in your most recent comment ~ joy abounds when our grandchildren are around us ~ :)

  • 'Michel - angelo's' ;-) :-)

  • Michel's angels. :-)

  • What great fun. I loved painting my parents kitchen and dinning areas the last few times. Your family is so loving and fun. Thanks for sharing

  • Loved this post. What wonderful daughters to help you paint the ceiling. I've painted enough and know ceilings aren't fun to paint. Looks like they had fun doing it. Yes, our children can be angels in disguise sometimes! What would we do without them! God bless you with a wonderful week-end!

  • Great pics, especially the first one. Wonderful expressions, together with the gestures.

Knowing that there is such a family in France makes me happy.

  • What fun! What Love! So many blessings :)

  • Well done to the girls , I am not very good with a paint brush as paint goes everywhere. They do seem to have great fun painting. Thank you for the Ice bucket comment

  • ryc: Michel you must speed read. I'm sure I said I don't wear shoes IN the pool. The deck and locker floor are slick, I wear them there. Plus I don't want athletes foot so I don't go barefoot there. :-)

    • I am a bit confused, Bonnie , but it was so amusing to imagine you in your shoes in the pool!!! Excuse me;

  • Ty so very much of your good morning and good night greeting Michel and good night to you.

  • Ty so very much for your common ton my rose half in the sun and half in the shade.
You are so right-the simplest are the best.

  • Hello Michel and I hope you get the weather that you like.
I love the fall fog and the cooler days and colors of fall.

  • What a fun family project! Your daughters are just lovely.

I have not had any success in getting my account reinstated even though I've paid the subscription fee. I guess I'll just consider it a donation to a worthy cause.

  • ryc: Michel I have no special place for my insulators. https://www.flickr.com/photos/bonnieb/sets/72157612946795158/

Here you will find my windowsills with them. But here there are also Jim's well kept collection in cases. Few of mine have any real value, all of Jim's do. :-)

  • What sweet daughters you have. Loved the pictures.

  • Yes indeed, you are a wonderful work of art. I enjoy hearing about your life and your interesting thoughts on life!
