O Snowdrop!
Ô perce-neige
Ô snowdrop!English version after the French text
On this afternoon at the end of January 2015 I was surprised to see the snowdrops already showing up. I remembered I had posted about on Xanga in February 2003. . Already 12 years ago ! I had saved my old entries on CD . I thought It would be good to post it again. The problem was to extract the photo from this old CD : I had to print and scan it.

O Snowdrop !I know you for so many years ,
At the same place you do appear .
Of the winter , you have not fear
And in time you always are here ,
Sempiternal .In spite of this so hard winter
You are blooming your white flowers .
We believed you were dried and dead
But every year you rise your head
Immortal .I admire your tenacity ,
Your humble and simple beauty .
Do you tell us hope and peace above ?
Are you the sign of the nascent Love ?
Eternal .Michel Fauquet

Oh, Michel, such a lovely poem. The snowdrop is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I'm glad, also, that you enjoyed the Irish song and pictures.
Hugs and love, Char
Oh, so beautiful... both the words and the photo.
ryc: Jack Ma was born and raised in China... native Chinese. One of the english speakers, a woman he was showing around, said his name was hard to pronounce and could she give him an english nickname to call him by... the story is that she said her father is called Jack, and her husband is called Jack, so could she call him Jack... and he agreed. He says this with such humor when he tells the story... such joy in the man from humble beginnings and many trials and failures. He never gave up. It is really just a joy to hear him speak.
Wonderful!! It is a testament to your grasp of English that you can do justice to the poem in English from the original French (which I'm sure sounds like music!)
A beautiful poem, and beautiful flowers. I think it will be at least another month until we see snowdrops here.
MIchel!!! I did not know somehow that you wrote poetry---beautiful.

Oh, such a wonderful and warm paring of poem and photos, Michel! Especially on this cold winter day!
Hope, peace, and love...yes!
HUGS!!!
Love the flowers and poem. I don't have any snowdrops but we have some crocuses that are usually the first to pop up. So glad spring is coming! God bless your week with beautiful things.
Thank you for the poem and pictures. I grew up daffodils were the first to pop above ground and they grew wild. To hot here to grow them. I was in shorts yesterday.
What a beautiful sight, mine are just pushing up through the soil,I love this legend about them:
A legend about the origin of the snowdrop tells us that after being expelled from the Garden of Eden, Eve sat weeping. An angel comforted her. Since the Fall, no flowers had bloomed, but snow fell ceaselessly. As the angel talked with Eve, he caught a snowflake in his hand, breathed on it, and it fell to earth as the first snowdrop. The flower bloomed and Hope was born.
where would we be without hope! ilym
Thanks Marsha for this legend about Snowdrop . This intrigued me and I made some researches to discover there were various legends from various countries. Very interesting .
Yes, where would we be without hope?
En avons vu de toutes petites cet après-midi également. Les premières de la saison
Vive le printemps annoncé!

Yes , Nancy, It feels good to find again some ancient posts of xanga . And sometimes , the inspiration still is the same 12 years later.
You were among those who commented this poetry in 2003 .
Good Morning Michel
TY so very much of your kind comments about TD and his stint surgery.
Oh man I can not remember which area of the heart the arteries were plugged in.
The stints were successful and we are grateful.
Still a bit of fine tuning to do but he is so much better.
You're able to write poetry in English? I am humbled and impressed!
Absolutely worth a second post!
re your comment: The plant (corn stalk) is made of metal ~
Snowdrops are a hobby among some gardeners (the galanthophiles). I wouldn't mind taking it up myself. I like how they can spread all through the understory of a habitat. If I had property I'd install a bluebell wood and a snowdrop garden.
You teach me, Neil. I did not know there were collectors of snowdrop and blue bell called galanthophiles ( from galanthus the latin name of snowdrop). They make beautiful patches of flowers, white and blue , in the winter and at the beginning of the spring.
ryc: Michel if one forgets to type in their name usually anon shows. Do not worry about spelling errors. I do it all the time now.
Some how you missed Wed post http://mizbee.net/Patchwork/Jan/30Jan_2015.htm

Ty so very much of your wonderful words of caring and yes it has been a whirlwind week and we are so happy to be home again.
hugs..... my xanga membership ran out today.
Michel, love those beautiful snowdrops. I have very few over the years and haven't been able to find any in our area to purchase. We've had mild winter, little snow, so must go out and look to see if at least one is growing. Spring about 7 weeks away.. and the beauty it brings. I'm getting ready for my big day on Feb 18.....I have lots of hard painful work ahead of me after that date. Then I get to do it all over again in late fall. Knees to wear out. Must have good knees to continue to garden. I bet you garden will be beautiful this year. You and Janine enjoy what Mother Nature has to off us. Yes, I did enjoy your poem very much. You have a wonderful way with words. Love, Marilyn
