      Fendre des bûches

    Splitting  logs

     English version below the picture

It is heavy this wood splitter maul, do you know ? Il est lourd ce merlin, savez-vous?                                   photos Janine Fauquet Octobre 2014

At the end of October you still  have the leisure to admire the last flowers in bloom ( see the previous entry) but you feel also the coming cold . It‘s why after the dream among the beauties of the  garden you have to work to prepare the winter .  Janine already lights the fireplace at night . We have logs of wood but to start the fire much  thinner logs of wood are needed . Lately after the salute to the flowers I started to split some logs .

Here is the man in action. He looks strong . Yes, but who knows? Perhaps is it only an appearance, for a short time  Whatever, what is to be done must be done .  Is  not a good rule of life. To apply when we can.

  • Hard work Michel but so worth the wonderful heat from your fireplace.
Nothing more cozy than a fire in the fire place to warm the heart and soul.

  • Ty fo your comments on my photo of Ali looking at the bug on the ceiling, and yes her nose looks good. She is doing good and I need to do an update on her.

  • Splitting wood is hard work! You are doing good in more ways than one. :-)

I agree with the stability of the world. There are a lot of angry people being inflamed by angry people. Scary and sad because life can be beautiful if we make that choice.

    Hope your Sunday is wonderful!

  • Good Afternoon, Michel You are a hard working man.

My wife loves our fireplace and is already using it.

  • I did a little of that this summer but I found my back isn't as strong as it used to be. It's good to see you're still around. :)

    • Glad to see you, too, Mark.
I split the logs from time to time and during a short time . I have also back problems but for me , they handicap me for the walk but doesn't bother me to dig out the ground or clip the hedges or split the wood. Weird, don't you think.?

  • Good morning Michel and Ty your comment on my photo of the wilting, dining dahlia and it's beauty.

  • I'm so sorry I got so far behind. It is more difficult to be every where every day that I want to be. Not just on the internet, but here too.

I see you listed so many of our friends now gone. Thank you for including our son.

  • Nice to be prepared for winter..... Great pictures too. I remember too our lost Xanga friends..... They are missed.
