  • The Fauquets multiply their wishes

    Les Fauquet multiplient leurs vœux

                                                                                         English version below the picture

Photo taken by Anne - Marie Muller  December 2004 Germany

I received recently this photo from a friend . This picture has been taken in an open market in …Germany . See all of those packets of " Fauquet " piled !! This gave me the idea of multiplication . So I send to you 12 times for the least my wishes for Christmas …!!  Count the packets .

What is there in those packets ? a cheese produced in Northern France , very fragrant and tasty : the Maroilles . You can see small samples above the boxes  in a plate . On this photo the Maroilles is labelled " Fauquet " , name of the factory founded in 1925 . I specify we have the same name but we are not in any way related . In France there are many different families called Fauquet . This name is frequent..

People love the " Fauquet " and fauquet and his wife love you and wish you a happy Christmas .

When we came to the US, when I was a little girl, my gramma used to send a letter to "Johan de Leeuw, USA" nothing else on the envelope... they would find my family in Maryland. There were not a lot of de Leeuw's in USA. In Holland there are hundreds Of course this was a long time ago....

I wish you a very lovely, Joyous Christmas and very best wishes for the New Year
I really enjoy reading your blog.

  • Hi!
For those of you who don't know: An earthquake struck Sumatra on Sunday morning registering 9.0 and causing a tidal wave that devastated most of the countries in the Indian Ocean. Sri Lanka is the worst hit with 12,000 presumed dead and still counting and two million at least displaced.

We need aid. We need food, clothes and bottled water. We need you to help. Red Cross and Oxfam are helping but we have local efforts here that you can all contribute to as well no matter where you are in the world.

Please help! Please visit this URL for all the info on how to donate: http://www.xanga.com/item.aspx?user=LadyKiadri&tab=weblogs&uid=177992304

Every little bit helps. Please pass on that URL and the donation info to all the people you know. Thank you, Marisa.

  •  At first I thought someone had sent you all that cheese and wondered how you were going to eat so much of it. But on reading it again, I see that it's at a market & not in your kitchen. I wonder if the cheese is as sweet and mellow as yourself?

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2005 to come.

  • We LOVE cheese! And we love the Fauquets, also!
And now that the Holy Season is passed .... Wishing you HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May it be filled with all the Peace of Christmas - every day!

  • Eating Camembert now, and listening to Debussy!!!

  • That's pretty cool! I hope you both had a very very wonderful Christmas.

  • Très intéressant.

  • It's a wonderful discovery, isn't it? How lovely your name is associated with this well-known cheese
