Petit bonheur ?

At the end of a meal .

At the end of a great meal at the restaurant you surprised yourselves  being  admiring the colour of the wine in the bottom of your glass .. And isn't it pretty this bloomed plant lighted by a lamp ? And what to say about this admirable bottle not comparable to any others ! My wandering look even gazed on the white faience of the mustard and salt pots … And all that was melted to give a kind of small happiness . Small happiness ??

  • Not small... "All is worth it, when the soul is not small" someone said... Not small, but real, genuine happiness.. Blessed is the one who´s able to feel bliss from the small things... Thank you, Michel.

  • It looks like a wonderful meal to me. There is something to b said when one takes the time to have a good meal. Bravo for you for taking that time.

  • It looks perfect. I would stay a long time, not moving, just sitting and sipping.

  • Yes perfect!  Is that flower kalanchoe, a succulent?  Yes, it is a lovely still life.  Life is good!

Oui parfait! Ce kalanchoe de fleur est il, un succulent? Oui, c'est un charmant calme vie. La vie est bonne!

  • It is so wonderful that you can find happiness in such a peaceful scene. Thanks for sharing your happiness, Michel.

  • ce n'était pas le repas que t'a plaît? :)

    Thanks,

  • Small happiness. That is what makes it all real and worthwhile.  Today I went outside and stuck my nose into my ginger plant's blossoms.  It is on it's last bloom now.  I felt as if I wanted to disappear into the lovely smell of the flower and feel forever what it felt like in my mind...Small happiness...thank you Michel {V}

  • It's great that even the littlest of things can bring you happiness.

Oh yes, the reason why I ended up taking courses in those fields was because I decided I finally wanted to choose a career working with children recently.  I guess the degree is a back-up.

  • This is more than small happiness with the right partner. I think this calls for more wine. I always check the colour of the wine before I drink it...but after? Nice idea.

  • You would like the Barossa Valley in South Australia, just outside of Adelaide. There are loads of wineries and some are extremely expensive ,a collectors item is Penfolds Grange, it is really to expensive to drink some of the vintages. When we first came to Australia, some weekends we would drive out to the wineries and have some tastes, not many cars on the roads in those days, Then we and our friends would share some bottles, as you had to buy 12, later you could buy just one. I think we became quite good pickers of wines. Then we would play cards till 3.00am drinking the wines as we could rest on a Sunday before work again on Monday. Now I never even drink a toast. I have gone off the taste, I gave up drinking as it went with smoking and I wanted to give that up. Now I can't bear the smell of either. I appreciate that people do like wine though, and the doctors say a glass a day is good for you.Cheers marjie

  • I love to find small gifts like that...a beautiful still life, Michel.  And beautiful thoughts.

And thank you for your kind and supportive words.

  • wonderful picture and the description made me believe for a moment that I was actually there!

  • this is nothing to be ashamed of Michel. just a small happiness to wish and work towards for all the world. thankyou for the sentiment.

  • Simple life..small happiness... happy most of the time ...That's wht I believe in!!

  • Many times a simple object will become interesting, even beautiful in our eyes.  Something causes us to see it in a different manner.  When I was a girl, our home had an apricot tree in the garden.  The sunlight would shine through the leaves, dappling objects with light and shadow.  I always found that espeically lovely.  Even dirt and stones looked different.

We have many fine vineyards here where I live, and excellent wines are produced in this region.  Our climate is perhaps more like France than the Napa Valley in northern California, which I think is more like Italy.

  • I love how you see the beauty and joy in everything you do!  You are an inspiration to me!

  • Absoluement! J'aime la vin. Veux-tu boire avec moi?

  • Lovely still life, Michel.

  • Tres jolie!  J'aime votre "blog"!

  • It is wonderful when simple things give us such happiness.

  • Aw you  honestly should be getting paid for these beautiful pictures Michel.  You do such beautiful work!  I think an evening with you would be most interesting indeed.  I do believe you might even teach our husbands a little about romance.  Have a great and wonderful day and a better tomorrow! ! !   Love and hugs! ! ! !   Valerie

  • Now that's living.  And with the right company, just heaven.

  • michel, yes, you are right. the image does look happy. it is a very pleasant photo! it gives off the impression of a happy memory.

  • That's a beautiful still life you've done! I think that if we put all of our bits of small happiness in one basket, it becomes a great joy.

  • Your picture reminded me of a painting that my mother had done.  A bottle of wine, a glass and a pair of ballet (I don't know if ballet is spelled right) slippers with a sheet of music.  One of her best works.  Thank you for the memory

  • Michel,

Again, thank you for your insights and comments.

I do the same thing as well. It's the same as the saying here we have: "To stop and smell the roses".

Life is hectic, but I try my best to cherish and relish the small things in life.

  • Oh Michel!  You remind us of the most important things so often!  I am not as much of an artist as many who read and comment, but I think the picture perfectly captured what a spendid meal and a nice time you had.

I think about the words, small happiness, and for me, I am reminded that there are few really BIG happinesses in any ONE life.  But those who see these small happinesses often, by looking for them... they are the truly happy people... because the 'small happinesses' are what makes us happy.  We only need look a short distance to find one any day of our lives.

         Thank you friend,

                        hugs,

                                 Deb

  • C'est rare que je bois le vin alors je n'ai pas vraiment eu cette chance...

  • Just checking to see if you had posted.  Have a great day and a better tomorrow! ! !   Love and hugs! ! ! !

  • Even though I do not drink, I understand wine is one of the best things to drink...

  • Les repas francais me manque!  C'est plus grand que les repas americains.  On peut pas trouver assez bon nouriture aux Etats-Unis!
