  • My garden shed excites my imagination/ painted in red

Mon abri de jardin stimule mon imagination
My veggiegarden shed excites my imagination

    October 5

    English version below the pictures

Vous vous souvenez que mon cousin René est venu  en mai 2013 avec sa femme Chantal réparer mon abri de jardin qui était en voie d ‘ écroulement . Naturellement,  j’avais peint aussitôt ce monument restauré

May 2013: my cousin René and his wife Chantal prepare a panel of wood to restore the shed.

You remember my cousin René came home with his wife Chantal to restore my garden shed which was near to collapse.. It was in may 2013. Of course I had painted this restored “ work of art

    Ah!Imagination !

A Chinese traditional shelter in my veggie-garden?? ( and the Sophora behind). October 6,2014

However we have had a lot of rain this year 2014 and on last Saturday I noticed the shed needed a new coat of paint and I made it. How beautifully white it was become again ! And more It seemed to me  that the  small shelter  looked somewhat like a little Chinese traditional house with the sweeping curvature that rises the corners of the roof! This is at this moment my wife Janine told me I had very much imagination. Is it true ?

To reinforce my impression, I looked at the  tree growing behind the shed? Do you know the name of the tree ? It is a Sophora . And do you know the French name?  Sophora or Pagoda tree !  Do not you think that all of this is a bit Chinese ? is not a good thing to know in my veggie garden there is a small building that recalls the old and rich Chinese civilization?

    Ah! Imagination!

    Painted in red

    English version below the picture

    abri peint

In order to please to some of my readers who would see my shed rather  painted in red to be a bit more chinese , I added some red !
I specify to one of my readers , the chinese look exists mainly in my imagination in refering to the tradition. Is not the imagination a great quality of mind ?
Like the philosopher Descartes said : I think   the shed looks chinese so it is chinese !!!!     This is an extension of  "Cogito ergo sum"  :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cogito_ergo_sum  .
Please , tell me if I have progressed in my chinese adventure !   :)

  • Your garden is beautiful and the tasks of working the land and the buildings is an on going project. I am glad you are still able to get out and enjoy the work ad play.

  • Hmm, it does look a bit Chinese. If you had painted it red it would look even more like a Pagoda!

  • If you would have painted the shed red, it would have completed the effect. :-) that and it would go well with the nice red leaves on the bush in front. :-)
and I agree it is very nice to have a thing which recalls the very ancient and regal Chinese civilization.

  • Ah! I see leaflesstree has already beaten me in the thinking the shed should be red. :-)

    • Thanks to leaflesstree and you Lynn for this good idea to paint in red ! i have a try to do. I have red paint. :)

  • I must have a good imagination too (or I'm impressionable) because I see the resemblance! The new shed is lovely no matter the color!

  • My wife finally had a shed built in the backyard. Very handly. Yours looks nice.

Hope your new week is going well, Michel.

  • A great addition to any yard! Whit or red, as long as there is a little slope to the beams on the top, it will be Chinese no doubt.
Love the bush with the red leaves in the foreground. Or, are they the Mandeville flowers? I envy your garden and your vegetables and your beautiful yard always, dear Michel.

    • The red " flowers " are in fact the leaves become red of a VIRGINIA CREEPER growing into a shrub of laurel

  • How wonderful that your cousin came and helped you repair your shed.
Your shed looks wonderful and so does your garden.
    Have a great week Michel.

  • Oh! The white hiding place!!! Love the secrets of the shed...oh, the wonderful tools are there! I miss my Michel....

  • I'm glad you like the idea of the red shed, and that you have the red paint. I look forward one day to seeing the new paint job, and you will have completed the vision of your imagination. :-)

  • Oh yes, imagination is such a good thing. You can step inside the shed and find a feather bed or a Chinese Dragon! :D Love the foliage around it.

  • Regardless of what color your shed is, it stands out as a work of art....Nice!!

  • TY so very much for your comment on my photo of the red rose budding and blooming. I didn"t know roses bloomed the longest and this makes me very happy.

  • TY so very much of your comment on my photo of the antique fixer uppers auto

  • I've never been to China but I would of suspected the color there would not have been white. lol

  • TY for your comment on my post about Paul revere from Paul revere and the raiders passing away. yes it is a loos when a bit of our past goes away.

  • "the old and rich Chinese civilization?" you really know much about Chinese civilization?
That shelter doesn't look Chinese to me. Please converse here because I don't check my mail.

    • I believe there is a misunderstanding . when I say "rich " I do not mean rich in money !!! :) I mean the chinese civilization is very old and developped much concepts, inventions ans ways of life for the humanity . I think of course of the ancient CHINA . This is spread all of the area such Cambodgia, Indochine. , Laos, Siam....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_culture.
I agree with you my shed is chinese only in my imagination stimulated by the corners of the roof and the pagoda tree just behind.
I improved my chinese traditional house below ! :)

  • Oh look at you! Have you actually painted, or are you experimenting with photo-shopping the picture?
I think it looks good, very good, and yes you have progressed with your Chinese adventure. :-)

  • The aid to my imagination made me smile! The red "paint" and added slight upturn of the roof really improves the illusion~

  • Do you have to take your shoes off when you walk inside the pagoda/shed? It looks very pretty with the red paint, and the red leaves of the vine.

  • Yes, you have a wonderful imagination, Michel. Never change!

  • I love your imagination, dear Michel! I so love to read your posts! You make me smile with joy and fun. I shall be reading back over your posts that I have missed. I did finally update.
