Small and great spaces.
Petits et grands espaces .
Small and great spacesEnglish version below the pictures
La rivière Selle à Salouel The small river Selle in the village of Salouel
When I 'm relied on the parapet of the bridge I never get tired of watching the little river in a village near Amiens. Its clear water flows near the church and I am lulled by its soft music. I like to see it flowing between the flowered banks . I am experiencing diffuse sensations, leading to a sort of a meditation. And, I cannot help, I often think of the verse of Ezekiel: 4712:“On the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”

A large wheat field invaded by poppies that extands below the sky. un grand champ de blé envahi de coquelicots s 'étend sous le ciel Photo Carole FauquetBut I like also the large spaces where we feel attracted towards other horizons : I love the deserted beach swept by the wind and the immense fields of wheat invaded by poppies that extend below the sky. All of those large spaces draw the soul to the summits and help also to a religious meditation , where we feel at once nothing and all in the same time

I just love that little river, flowing by the church, and the plants are so beautiful!!
That lonely stretch of beach, looks so peaceful and serene...
And the wild flowers!! Well, I know it's wheat, but the flowers are so pretty!! Wild flowers!!
The horses and buggies are captivating, as they trot down the beach and find the joy of the smell of the water, the crunch of the sand and the joy of the wind in their faces....and I imagine the horses feel much the same! Such powerful emotions easily flow through us as we enjoy what God has provided....Truly, you capture images which transform my thoughts in such delightful ways! HUGS!!!!
Hello Winnie , I looked at the bottom of your comment and I do not see else than the feature reply . So T type this but I know it is not like on the ancient xanga ,the replies now remain here and are not sent like an e.mail
Oh, and flowers make me happy...all kinds of flowers! They just sing to me! I hope you have 1000 people tell you how quaint and beautiful your village is. Perhaps next summer I will visit as I finally received my passport! YAY!
Did you take the photo of the poppies in the field? Beautiful!
The photo with poppies in a wheat field has been taken by my oldest daughter Carole ( aka the duchess )while she was making a horse ride in the countryside some years ago
Beautiful nature does bring us to a quiet place and to having thoughts of a higher power. Your pictures are so serene.
You truly live in the land of milk and honey...the stream reminds me of the creek behind our house, I go there for meditation and merriment, it provides both. I've tried to growing poppies, but have had no luck...and there they are growing like wild flowers. I read Ezekiel, We are truly Blessed! ILYM
That first photo... so beautiful, so peaceful, and I absolutely love the photo of the wheat and poppies... "where we feel at once nothing and all in the same time" ... so wonderfully said.
Wishing you well,
Lynn
Ooooooh Michel! I just love that verse ~ and oh my, the beach with horse-drawn carriages! ~ what bliss! Poppies are one of my favorites ~ they look gorgeous amidst the wheat ~
Such beauty surrounds us in this world. All we need do is take a moment and open our eyes, drink it in.
Thank you for sharing these simple scenes
I even saved the poppies and wheat field to my computer so that I could enjoy them again.
you are welcome to use the poppies picture,John, to gaze at it at your leisure
The photos you and The Duchess took are stunning and beautiful!
Thank you for sharing them! They brought joy to me today!
We must always slow down enough to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us!:-)
How are you feeling, Michel!?
You are in my thoughts and prayers!
HUGS!!!
I absolutely love that last photo of the poppies in the wheat field!
Lovely photos all! I like to stand and listen to rivers bubbling - I find the sound very soothing and I am able to empty my mind of all my worries. I also love big open spaces like your wheat field in that last photo, and I think that's because there aren't many open spaces where I live.
I like that you first write in French with the translation below. It encourages me to try to translate for myself (though I've never learned French). With a smattering of French words committed to memory, combined with a little more Spanish, it's amazing how much of the gist of it I can figure out.
I wonder, do most of your countrymen appreciate the beauty of France, or do they take if for granted as so many of my neighbors do of this beautiful valley?
Such beautiful spaces Michel and I especially love the wheat field invaded by poppies.
TY so very much of your comment on my post of photos of lace along the riverbanks.
I didn"t see any spiders but did not walk close enough to see if there any up close either.
I love the beauty of the hanging moss in spring as the river breezes make it look like it is flowing in mid air.
Ty so very much of your comments on my photo post of the purple crocuses in the grass.
Ty so very much of your comments on my post about the rocking chair.
it is so comfortable and so sturdy and was such a good buy.
This is a beautiful post. God is all around us in the big and the little. He's waiting for us to slow down enough to notice Him and His creation.
Good Morning, Michel!! I loved the photos and narrative. The one about the brook was wonderful. There is restaurant in our Santa Cruz mountains that has a little creek going right through it with wild fish in it. I hope it is still there so my wife and I can eat there again.
Wishing you the best,
frank
Carole -is that your daughter?
or is that a man spelling of Carol?
hey, my maiden name is Brooks and in school my sister and would chit chat and the teachers nicknamed us the Babbling Brooks.
I think that if you take the stones out of the stream that you would no longer have the melody.
we found the cowdog as a puppy and she did well with the rest of the dogs but then when she was a few years old she started to discipline and I told hubby we can't have her doing that(hurting her sisters) they are afraid of her. She wants to join in their play but she can't join them but I don't feel sorry for her since she did it to herself. She's about 7 yrs old and doesn't bite people just her sisters.
We would have never picked her for a pet cause we have to walk her everyday and we're not high energy people but she came to us at 4 weeks old. She was born under a shed next door to us and they picked up the mom we think. I went all over the neighborhood knocking on doors but couldn't find her family. So we were stuck with her.
sorry I just meant to tell you that I go to see dr. today! yeah!
The pictures are so beautiful! I am glad that nature can make us feel closer to God. It seems like God took such care to make it beautiful for us, and to make our souls respond to it in such a way.
I too believe in the power of spaces. It releases me and makes me feel free.
I accidentally came here! I am very old to be missing these posts. I shall be reading these often!!
in answer to your question about what is hung on the wire ~ just cloth strips ~ torn and hung just because ~ I think it is a currently popular way to decorate ~
about the white clothe strips torn and hung at the wire , do not you think Peggy they are a ancient meaning founding this tradition? Is it only to decorate?
Love
Each picture is in itself a reflection of God's Beauty. I am mesmerized by the wheat fields and the poppies, and the beach that speaks to me endlessly. Thank you Michel my friend. With your permission, I would like to save them in my documents, and hopefully be able to write some thoughts/poem in the near future.
You are welcome Zakiah to save the photos and I cannot wait your poem about.
Oh, what lovely photos you have posted. I too enjoy sitting along small river banks and listen to the melody of the day. The beach looks cold, but yet beautiful. Wishing you and Janine a pleasant spring and hope you have a bounty of flowers. Still cool where I live, so tulips and daffy slow to bloom.....all in good time and God's will. The best to you and Janine. <3
Oh, I love the poppy meadow! Love those verses too. There's something about going down to the river. I think we should go down there and pray.
Hope your week is wonderfully blessed!
hubby and I look at our pets as our children and we couldn't have one child hurting another child but we took them to raise and we can't dump our burden on someone else. She's our child.
I used to walk her until a few years ago and now hubby takes her everyday plus it is good for hubby to exercise.
so your daughter did take the photos?
Yes Jill this is muy oldest daughter Carole who took the two photos ( carriages in the beach and wheat fieelds with poppies). She loves making horseride in the nature and took sometimes photos.
The horse on the beach could have been Wenduine.
The fields with poppies are less and less....Farmers don't like poppies on theyr fields and they kill them with herbicides.
Amitie
Carlo
Good Morning Michel and TY fo your very nice comments on my post with the photos of the flowers in the planter outside my apt. I believe the flowers are mums and I was attracted to the bright colors.
Lovely photos! And I love the quote from Ezekiel.
I really love this post of yours, Michel! Such beautiful photos taken by you & Carole, too! I agree with your concluding statement: "All of those large spaces draw the soul to the summits and help also to a religious meditation, where we feel at once nothing and all in the same time."
God bless you, my friend.
Hello Michel and I hope you and your lovely wife are having a wonderful Saturday.
TY so very much of your prayers for Johnathan and his family.
RYC: I never run a fever, Michel, but my colds always go into bronchitis. Thank you for your good wishes! Yes, bravo to my genius husband!;-) Love, Carolyn ♥
Michel ~ I believe that the beach scene is the photo that most speaks to me. It should be a scene out of a wonderful movie, & then too it could be placed into a museum of great art! It makes me think serene thoughts.
RYC: Thank you for your kind concern, Michel.
I am getting much extra rest, as well as
the meds, because it does take awhile to
get over bronchitis. I hope you have had
a blessed Sunday. I am thankful for having
the Bible to read here while resting at home!
Love ♥ ,
Carolyn

when Dave puts me to bed at night and takes my 5lbs brace off my leg I tell him thankyou for taking care of me.
Sometimes we have to turn the a/c on and then the heater all in 24hours.
One Easter my brother came to visit from southern California and it was 105 so hot.
the next Easter my sister came from Lakewood,California and it snowed. LOL
Open spaces, the smell of sunshine and the humming of the little insects that keep our world growing. God's splendor! Love to you and Janine!
Such lovely photo's and I seem to recall the poppy picture, perhaps on Flickr?
Yes I miss the old xanga and the emails.
Your daughter's photos are phenomenal and indeed capture broad sweeping spaces and can almost touch the moisture of the sea.
Such beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing them. peace always
All are wonderful emotional photos but I find the poppies in the wheat especially intriguing. I haven't ever seen poppy fields.
