During and after...
Pendant et après.
During and after..English version below the pictures

Tonte joyeuse Happy mowing may 2010 ¨Photo Janine FauquetWhat a pleasure to mow the lawn in front of the house , in the backyard and also the grass in the paths of the vegetable garden . A authentic pleasure ! The sound of the inexhaustible lawnmower is in resonance with the vibrations of your soul . You smell full breath the good scent of freshly cut grass . The machine is comfortable like a car excepted that the wheels are your legs . Well , this is a true happiness and you go on and on, light of heart, in singing a melody which came suddenly in your mind without special reasons and does not want to go out of your head !.
Oh! Non !
repos après la tonte Rest after the mowing June 2012 Photo Janine FauquetBut after it is another picture (taken of course by Janine who never miss the good occasions ) ).
What does this man do, sat on a garden chair at the middle of the lawn after the mowing ? He looks pensive .
Is he tired?
Is he admiring the wooded background of the backyard ?
Is he meditating ?
Does he take his breath?
Is he reading?Is he praying?
Is he thinking of his family and xangafriends ?
Is he singing inside himself “ come, ye sons of Art “ of Henry Purcell that he sang some years ago in a choir ?Is he sleeping ??? Oh! No !!
Such is the mystery of that picture like in some paintings of Leonardo of Vinci but I reassure you immediately this man despite the ambiguity of his posture does not make the pair with Mona Lisa !!

I like the tulips in your garden. They are one of my wife's favorite flowers (and mine as well). It is a good feeling to be able to sit and look over a job you've completed with your own hands. It is a good photographer who can leave you wondering what is in the mind of the subject of his (or her) photography. I hope your summer is off to a good start.
By the way, I see you have the little yellow flowers in your grass that we call dandelions. I enjoy having them as I think they give color and I love how intricate they are upon close inspection. I was surprised to see that you have them also in France. What do you call them in French?
How beautiful it is there with all of the green and life. Good job with that lawn mower Michel. I would say he is sitting at that table resting and perhaps reading:)
I don't get emails either anymore. Don't know what happened. You do mow the lawn in style.
It looks so beautiful and relaxing! A perfect atmosphere for reading and enjoying all that God gives us
Votre jardin est magnifique!
my mower is ancient and when I finish I usually sit and have a cold beer  Your garden is beautiful. My youngest daughter Sarah is coming to France next month, she is a wine consultant and will travel to Orleans (I think) and travel the Loire river visiting the vineyards that produce the grapes for the wine she promotes  She has a great job don't you think :heartbeat: ilym
Maybe you are just resting in the 2nd picture? We haven't had any rain for a long long time, so our grass doesn't need mowing.
I was pleasantly surprised to read someone else likes mowing the lawn--I like it, too. My mother used to tease me because, inevitably, when I was cutting grass I would start singing. It's the joy of living in the country, I guess, since there's no one to hear you (except your mother).
But I never did wear such a jaunty hat as yours!
g.
I think the man is in deep thought and resting after working in his yard--and what a beautiful place to meditate with his thoughts !
Oh I have tried to mow a lawn with an electric battery motor. You just can't do too big of a job with one of those devices.
The main problem with gasoline motors is that they won't start. Sometimes you need to take them to the lawn mower shop to tune them up.
Summer is coming and folks in the hills have to trim the bushes. Too much bushes will cause a terrible fire.
You have such beautiful property!
I enjoy mowing too. And of course you have to sit and enjoy the fruits of your labors.
Happy mowing. :sunny:
Your yard is so lovely, I can see why it is a pleasure to take care of it. I too love the smell of fresh cut grass. I think the lawn man is just admiring his work and maybe taking a well deserved nap!
Ahh, the simple pleasures of work, often lost on those who spend too much time sitting idle.
You seem to have a nice garden! Good to see you around again.
You always look so happy when you are out in nature! The tulips are so cheery!
First, that is a cool mower! Second, it still looks like I'm looking in the backyard of my childhood home and I think that man there is thinking of what he's going to blog about next. RYC: thanks for the confirmation with Pasteur. I'm finding that alot of Iowans are farming with non-GMO plants and keeping it natural. =)
There is few greater simple jpys in this world than gardening and tending the lawn. Thank you so much for posting photos of your daily bits and pieces. Since I can't garden anymore it is nice to see yours....
I admire you. You definitely know how to enjoy life.
That's the way the earth sings to you dear Michel. I know many many people, men and women, who love to mow the lawn. I did many years ago, and my lower back didn't like it. so I quit.
I thought you were on the phone, when I saw the second picture. The musings by Janine are most heartwarming. It is so good to see you back on xanga.
Love,
Zakiah.
Glad to see you back again. We are having such a heat wave in Tennessee. The grass is too dry to mow and we are hauling water to the flowers to keep them alive. Already almost seven inches below average in rainfall this year. Your garden is lovely and the smile on your face says it all. Take good care of yourselves for you and your lovely family are treasures to us all.
:heartbeat: Brenda in Nashville
Michel, mowing the lawn is a joy. Seeing the beauty of the yard is rewarding.
I would be astonished to see my husband mow so elegantly!
What IS the man doing in the second picture, eh? Perhaps a little of all the things listed?
Ty so very much for your nice comments and well wishes for TDs health Michel.
What a BEAUTIFUL lawn, dear friend! Love the smell of freshly-cut grass ~
Answer to fwren above : yes I like the smell of the freshly-cut grass as I like the smell of the hay .
We are low in rain here too. We are watering some of the pasture grass to keep it alive for the animals. I don't remember ever seeing it as dry here before. One of our neighbors remembers the creek drying up. That was before my time. Love the picture. It looks like a 'thinker' picture to me.
michel, welcome back to xanga. i always enjoy reading your posts. they bring smiles to my heart. you look so happy to mow your grass, and i am glad you are healthy to do that job. thank you for sharing with your xanga readers little bits and pieces of your life. i am enjoying the warmer weather here in pennsylvania, especially as i take my morning walks around our development (one mile). yesterday was our wedding anniversary, 30 years.
RYC to mcbery above:I noticed there was drought in various areas of the US . It becomes worrying for the pastures and the corn fields . Here in France it is not frankly the drought but the level of the underground water is lower than normal in various areas of France . Anyway we had a weird weather with inversion of months: dry in March rainy in April and a recent thunderstorm with violent rain last week not good for the vegetables.
Michel, I will show this to my son...it is his job to mow the lawn today. He does not feel about it as you do. Maybe he will learn to take a little pleasure in the job. But he is young, I'm not going to count on it! He does enjoy the extra money he gets for completing this job!
How comfortable it looks in your back yard. I like the picture of you resting after the mowing.
Here it is too hot to sit outside for me. Wouldn't be so bad but the humidity makes it so. Yesterday we broke the heat record for the day. My curtains remain closed to keep the sun out. I hate that, can't watch the hummingbirds that way.
RYC: Glad you liked my post. This photo of the pensive you in the garden is very good!
I love the instant gratification of mowing and cleaning! Great pictures!

TY so very much Michel for your comments about Td and our trips to the VA and for my sisters birthday.
TY so very much Michel for your comments about Td and our trips to the VA and for my sisters birthday.
What I always enjoyed about cutting the grass was that it gave me some private moments to think and reflect on life, without the need to engage other people.
If that were me sitting at the table, I'd probably be sleeping! ha ha...
Wonderful pictures, Michel. Thanks for sharing!
What a beautiful, joy filled entry.! I listened to the Purcell...also happy and upbeat. Do you sing like that? What a lovely tenor voice to be sure.
Yes, I agree. It's much better to respond to a person on their site. I don't get the emails either and would never know if someone replied to a comment that I made on "their" site.
The picture of your yard is inspiring...bright and cheery colors that lift the spirit.
I promise, I will write an entry ...it has been awhile.
When we lived in OH. I enjoyed mowing the lawn. Not in FL. It's very hot and humid in the summer and the grass is far different(very tough) from our Northern Lawn.
Love,
votre amie,
Francoise I don't see where I can have the opportunity to give you a mini! Picture of big bouquet of beautiful roses....that I will send you!
Here we go...Now it's official
RYC...Yikes did you bring all that cut grass into my site on your shoes?
I still have the old Look&Feel on my site but I expect to find it gone any day now. I like to use my own photos for backgrounds and I don't think it can be done with the new format!
Ty so very much for your kindness and support through this time of medical problems with TD Michel.
I agree with Aloysius Son, my greatest joy in life is having learned to love work. That said, your mower must be quieter than mine because I have yet to learn to appreciate the "inexhaustible sound". I wear ear plugs. I do like the idea of singing while mowing as underused suggested.
RYC: I told my friend, Steve, that I needed a picture for my Xanga friend in France. He was happy to help.
NO! Not Da Vinci. He did discover many things, but not the plastic chairs.
You do like the cut the grass? I hated to do it,and I am happy not to have to cut again. i hear all the little grass when approaching with the horrible monster full of metallic teeth.....(I4m joking of course).
Bien à toi
Carlo
:sunny:
RYC: i'm currently in Lido Italy, and the picture of the beach was taken here..
Answer to Banyuls above : No the mower doecs not work with an electric motor ,it is a motor like the car' s one working with gasoline .
I love to see the photos of your yard and garden...and you! I love the vines and flowers. Janine does a good job with photography.
Your garden looks wonderful Michel , we have just come back from Ireland were everywhere is green. Although we had better weather in Ireland than at home. I am looking forward to watching the Tour of France which starts on Saturday , of course this time its going to Boulogne which I am looking forward to seeing again. Hope this warm weather is not to uncomfortable for Melody
About where we get most of our electricity? It comes from coal, most of it, I think. I also think nuclear would be great but our government is so bent on 'green' that it hampers any new power plants from existing. In the end who will pay for that with 'energy prices that will necessarily skyrocket'. (Obama's own words!) I think the America of we the people should find another planet and leave all those politicians here to fight over energy and pay the bills!
RYC - our daugter Sarah speaks a bit of french, more than I do for certain , wouldn't it be grand if you two met in the wine country  She works for a distribution company called "the Country Vinter" she does enjoy her job very much and I occasionally enjoy her benefits also :lookaround: have a great weekend Michel, the temperature is suppose to reach 106* here today :sunny: ilym
I have never seen someone so happy to mow! You look very sharp doing it, too! I'm glad your lady took the pictures...I'm inspired to do the same the next time my husband mows. Good post!
A man at peace with his endeavors and his world!
RYC: That is me in the picture and enjoy this because I really had to talk myself into this. I don't think I'm photogenic at all, but I also did the photo for the Sierra Club, favorite places to promote clean environments. My daughter took the photo and she is pretty good at taking them, but the sunset (I thought) was just perfect. Funny about that spot. It's in all of them except the really bad ones! It's a pretty cool special effect I think. I had to google what photosynthetic energy meant exactly, but I see that France had a hand in this! =) Nice!
Your garden, as always, is lovely. So many varieties of plants! It must be wonderful to take a quiet moment & relax in such a beautiful place. And I agree, the smell of fresh cut grass is one of the nicest anywhere, an instant reminder of summer.
Ty so very much for your comments on my post and photos of our apt complex community garden.
Ty so very much Michel and yes humor is good and I also think it is healing.
You took a break from xanga, too! I don't feel as bad.
I need to get back to reading all my favorite xanga people again. Thank you for your very nice comment...Transitions are hard, and I have stumbled a bit...but every day is better!
Your friend,
Pamela
Merci beaucoup. The song is a Spanish song (Hijo de la luna= Fils of the moon), song by Meccano, a spanish group.
I like yoours 'Bonsoir la lune' too. i remember the song 'Au clair de laune Pierrot.I love it. La Lune is for sure a good friend.
Many songs about the moon of course.

I forgot to say that there is a french version of this song. Hier boven is the link.
Such a beautiful day. I love the photos.
As always, even the simplest of things brings you great pleasure, and if it brings you pleasure, then it brings me pleasure. We enjoy the variety that life brings us. Here, in Michigan, we are having extremely hot weather. It is hard to enjoy the outside, and yet, in the early morning and the late evening I go outside to see what my little garden has done. It is then that I can notice the moon, or the sunrise, or some such thing that reminds me that there is a world beyond. Enjoy your time, Michel. Give my best to Janine! In friendship - Rachel
You make mowing seem like fun! I like watching people mow, while I sit in my hammock with a nice glass of bubbly water.
It looks like the man is talking on his cell phone.
The ceramics factory in my post is now exporting to Italy! They have another store next door that features traditional European designs (with prices to match). I found that very interesting.
There are so many flowers surrounding you! How lovely! & Janine did capture quite a good picture! Thoughtful! (Also, nice hat!)
Hope all has been well!!!
Answer to thankee above : Perhaps you have invented the mowing sightseeing
Michel, you yard is beautiful .. I sure wish I had one that looked this lovely. In the building I live in, our yard is very small and nowhere near as pretty! You and Janine do a wonderful job in making your yard look so nice. : )
Debi
What a beautiful garden. It gives you not only the joy of tending it, but rewards you with good food. I don't know about the man sitting in the lawn chair, but the man behind the mower does seem to have a Mona Lisa smile.
If you were in a painting, I'd hang you on my wall. You are a wonderful, inspirational man whom I want to remember my whole life. You have a beautiful spirit.
Thanks guys, for sharing this conductive accumulation.
