    La Chasse aux oeufs

    Egg hunting .

At Easter Sunday on the 16th of April 2006 in the afternoon a eggs hunting has been organized for the four grandchildren who were at our home . The first photo shows the beginning . Luis , Clara and Sarah rush towards the bushes . It seeems Joe , the youngest , already found one of them simply put on the grass . Lucky Joe ! We feel they are totaly motivated . Some of us pehaps remind of this happy time ?

Manon and Sarah tought logically eggs may be in a nest so they had to climb the tree ( where a hut had been built in a recent past . They climbed in the tree but it was complicated for those two girls because of the numerous branches around ( photos 2 , 3 )

    Photo 2  Manon

    Photo 3 Sarah

And here is the result ! Clara and Joe show the eggs they have gathered ( photos 4 , 5 ) . They look moved to hold into their hands those Easter eggs they have well deserved !! Perhaps will each of them and the others remember this happy moment at their grand parents ' s ?

    Photo 4   Clara

    photo 5     Joe

Que dire de plus ? Si ce n ' est qu 'il faut savoir apprécier les bons moments de la vie quand ils viennent .

What to say more except we have to taste the good moments of life when they happen .

  • i love the pictures! i love them so much! it brings me back to the days my kids would search out eggs. the fun, the search, the treasures! wonderful and thank you! i love visiting your place!

  • The joys of Easter.  We used to spend time with my grands when they were able to fly here free.  Now it is more difficult with the divorce but I have many fond memories not only of my grands but of my own children and their Easter egg hunts at my parents house.  The joys of children never quite lost within the adults Health and happiness my friend, Nancy

  • Bonjour, Michel!

I miss those days of egg hunting. I still recall my first Easter egg hunt when I was four years old. I had went to the Biltmore Estate(largest home in the world) in North Carolina and I was so sick. I wanted to participate in their annual HUGE egg hunt, though. I was moving at such a slow pace due to my upset stomach. This little boy saw me, looked in my basket and saw no eggs, and he gave me a few of his own so I could get a prize at the end of the hunt. I have never forgotten that kindness after all of these years. I know that your grandchildren will remember these good times with their grandparents! Afterall, I was also with my grandmother that day and I remember it all so well.

I am so glad that Easter was a great day for you. I enjoyed the pictures. Have a wonderful week, my friend. God bless.

  • of course they'll have very happy memories of hunting eggs at Grandpa's~!

beautiful pics, Michel.  thanks for sharing.

  • Simply adorable!

    Have a blessed day!

    Michele

  • Beautiful grandchildren, and a wondeful time for all, I'm sure. I also have fond memories of egg hunts at my grandparent's.

I heard from my Clara today. It would be inaccurate to say all is well with us, but she is speaking to me again. That is a start to fixing my mistakes.

  • We did not have an egg hunt at our house this year, but I remember many exciting Easters where it was the feature of the day!  Afterwards, it was even more fun to have an "egg fight".  Each person holds his egg and then taps it against his opponent's egg.  Whichever one cracks first loses, and the victor is refrigerated for another competition!

Cute pictures of adorable children!  I am sure they will keep many happy memories of the day!

  • They wear jackets. It is colder there than here. Sometimes it's cold here on Easter. I think we must have nearly the same weather. The children are all so sweet looking.

  • What a great egg hunt by your grandchildren Michel Your garden looks great as well

RE Mum's comment on my blog I received a medal for my serivce to Scouting the other week.

  • You've created wonderful memories for your grandchildren!  I'm sure they'll remember their entire lives.

  • Oh Michel, these photos are lovely, soooo beautiful. You are such a wonderful grandpapa.
Your gardens are very pretty and it looks like a park!

I hope all of you are well.
    ~Rosemary

  • I just KNOW your grandchildren will remember and cherish the special moments you create for them. Some of my best memories are those spent with my grandparents!! Wonderful, beautiful children! I know you are proud!

  • Awwww. I loved hunting for eggs when I was little. What little darlings you have.

  • eggs in the tree! now why did i never think of that! hehe

  • What clever girls to think of looking up in the tree!!!  Your grandchildren will have so many fond memories of their time spent with you and Janine...ones that they will tell to their grandchildren!  I know that you and Janine had a lot of fun in planning the egg hunt for the little ones!  Do you have a traditional meal that you serve on Easter?  Here, for most southerners, it is Ham with different sides.  I normally serve Ham, mashed potatoes or mac-n-cheese, green beans, sweet potato casserole, salad and a pie or cake.

    My love to you both!

    xoxo Cat

  • Michel,

The man in the video was debating with the woman about her viewpoints on God. She was telling him that God was punishing America for all of the sinning that takes place in our country. The footage that they showed was taken at a funeral for a young man who was serving our country and died in Iraq a few weeks ago. There were people, who were members of her church, protesting with terrible signs outside of the cemetary. The debate between the men and the woman on the show consisted of the men telling her that she was very wrong for handling this situation in this manner and that she should be ashamed of herself.

I, was very disgusted by the way that the woman was talking. I believe in God, and am a Baptist, but I am a lot more free with it. I allow people to hold their own beliefs and I do not discriminate. I guess she didn't read the part in the bible that says "love thy neighbor".

Hope this explains it a little more to you!

    Ranah

  • They are memories they will cherish forever, lucky children, and lucky Michel.Life is made up of moments.

  • Michel, I am always happy to see pictures of your beautiful grandchildren.  They are having such fun!  We have egg hunts here, too.  We use the plastic eggs and fill them with candy for the children.  On Saturday we color eggs and then eat them for breakfast on Easter morning.  It is a treat, the children only eat the whites of boiled eggs so I don't normally make them-hate to waste the yolks.  But for Easter....a treat!  I am not blogging these days but always check in on old friends.  I'm glad all is well for you and yours!  Karen

  • or... perhaps I spoke too soon.

  • J'aime bien quand tu parles de tes petits-enfants! Très mignons! Le nom "Manon" me rappelle le film Manon des Sources (1986). Tu connais? Ce nom est tellement beau, comme la fille qui s'appelle Manon est belle!

  • The children look so happy and making them happy is so much what we are all about this will make a wonderful memory for you and them. Judi

  • Hello Michel:  And who was the easter Bunny who hide the egg's???  I truly miss those day's when my children were home and we did so many fun activities but I have all the memories and await a grandchild someday.....someday!  Shirley

  • Ahhh!  What fun!  It has been awhile since the girls have particpated in an Easter Egg Hunt.  I'm sure next year it will be fun to have a little something for the grandbabies.  I am glad that your grandchildren have such a wonderful Grandpapa who thinks on these things and wants them to have good memories.  You have a full heart, Michel! One filled with love and joy! - Rachel

  • What fun!  I loved watching my girls hunt eggs.  It does bring back some good childhood memories!  Your grandchildren are adorable!

  • !!!! that's lovely!!! your grandchildren are such a blessing :) and you are a blessing to them too! ;)

  • We took Sam to his first egg hunt this year, too!

  • What wonderful memories for  you and the children and what fun for all. Lovely pictures Michel as always.

  • Wonderful sharing, beautiful grandchildren.

  • Great photos, Michel!! All the children look so intent in finding those Easter eggs! I love this egg hunt tradition, and wonder when it began in history? You've described the day so well here, and I'm sure your grandchildren really look forward to visiting your home.

With regards to my description of "razor blades" in my throat. It's only an expression I made up. Because it felt like I had very sharp razor blades scraping my throat. It's not an official expression. Thanks for your good wishes!

  • I've been wanting to tell you, Michel, it's a really pity my mother never got to meet you online, as she would have loved speaking with you. She learnt the French language when I was in high school, and had many French friends. She was fascinated with the French people and their culture, and I know she would have loved you!

  • your grandchildren are so lovely!! and i guess eggs hunting must be a lot of fun..though i've never tried before :P ..

    love,

    ann

  • I look at my life and surrounding and it makes me not want kids. I read your blog and i change my mind... Oh... wonderful!!! All of them

  • When our children were small it was such a wonderful tradition to search for eggs as that is what my husband and I had done as children. Big kids wont be in it but I bet when they bring their own children to us in years to come it will be back in fashion.Just like your family were doing. Michel I have to ask were you a teacher? cheers love your postings.

  • You captured some very special moments with those beautiful children and I know they will always remember the treasured time with grandparents.

How nice of you to take the time to give them the good memories.

    votre amie,

    Francoise

  • Be sure, Michel, they will remember this for ever! I still remember the eggs hunting at my grandmother's garden when I was less than 6th... The eggs were into some primrose shrubs, and the primroses were red, yellow and pink... Ehhhh, what beautiful days.
    Ciao.

  • What great pictures!  I remember a few of my egg-hunting Easters as a child, but actually remember more of those Easters when the Easter bunny duties were shared by several of us adults, and it was SOOO much fun watching the little ones find those eggs.  They always had such innocent looks of surprises to find them in the grass or in a branch or hidden under a dead leaf or....  They're so cute and funny!  Thanks for sharing your precious moments!!

  • Such fun!! Such good memories!!! And such great family that enjoy each other so much!!  You are helping to make memories that will last all their lives. (((hugs))) to you, and Janine, too.   Char

  • Notice how little Joe's eyes are looking at you wherever you stand in the room    Full of mischief

    Regards  Ron

  • How nice the yard looks, and a fun time for the children. It appears those are real hard boiled and colored eggs. So many hear buy plastic eggs and fill with candy.

  • hehe... i can't imagine how hard it must be to have to climb trees to find eggs!!

  • Tut,tut Michel !!!!  I dashed to my PC on Tuesday to read your weekly blog - nothing ! I was devastated as you always post on Tuesdays However I'm happy now   Lovely photos of a special time. My GC are all too old to hunt for eggs now but still appreciate chocolate eggs   Marie

  • That looks like so much fun!

  • La vita e bella.

    Buon giorno a tutti!

  • such beautiful children!

  • Aye, how true (I am referring to the last line). God bless you and your lovely grandchildren!

  • What intelligent girls to assume that eggs would be in nests in the tree!  Your yard is a perfect setting for an egg hunt.  Please, what kind of bush is the pink flowering bush in the right of the first picture?  It is most beautiful.

    As ever, Carol Suzanne

  • Oh, Michel..

They certainly will remember these moments!!

How blessed they are to have such grand-parents!!...

    Blessed indeed!!!

    A hug,

    lucy

  • Bonjour mon ami...

    Merci pour votre "comment"

Anyway(my French is klutzy) JouJou and Jolie are good friends ...the 3rd Sasha .???  I wrote about them today.  Your question inspired me to write.

    votre amie,

    Francoise.

  • RYC Jazz the kangaroo can come and go from the farm as there is a water reserve close by but she always comes back because she was hand reared. I am not sure why Jazz was brought to the house as a joey it is usually because the mother has been killed. There is quite a mob that know they can always find food and green grass around the farm house.Jazz is the tamest and is not frightened of the farm dogs. She likes a pat and likes being around people but has the freedom to come and go. Regarding your other comment I guessed you had been a teacher because you said your industry was education and I am also a teacher and I just sensed the way you spoke that you continue to teach. Cheers I enjoy reading about your life.

  • Hi Michel!  What a wonderful picture!  I have so many great memories of my family having Easter egg hunts for us.  When it rained, we had them indoors.  Thanks for sharing such sweet glimpses of life with us.

You asked how my husband doesn't end up paying the bills.  I don't know if he has a job or not, but anyway, I cannot afford a lawyer to go after him...so I am doing the best I can to try and pay them...and try to prevent my credit from being destroyed.

Oh well, thanks again for sharing your pictures.  In the midst of the turmoil which seems to be my life of late, it's wonderful to see loving families enjoying times together.

    Have a great day!

    Your Massachusetts Friend,

    Paula

  • Not only will they remember, Michel, but they will do the same for THEIR grandchildren. You and Janine are such wonderful grandparents....They are very fortunate!!

RYC I am so glad you got your card...it was my pleasure. I would love to see The Sainte-Chapelle someday!!!!

  • It's wonderful to take photographs at these times.  Last Easter I was staying with friends in Melbourne and it was such fun putting out the eggs and watching the children look for them.  This Easter I visited a friend in Sydney and her 2.5 year old son was more interested in the easter egg box I gave him (it was a rectangular box with a picture of a train on it) than the eggs that were inside.

  • Thoroughly enjoyed these pictures of your grandchildren. You are right, the happiness must come from within, it will never be found outside of ourselves. Laurie

  • Lovely pictures of a lovely time.

  • Oh, they are so SWEET and Beautiful! Love the pictures and
the eggs are stunning! What a FUN day to share!

  • Looks fun!

  • Grandchildren and an Easter egg hunt - - -  indicating that weather was  nice enough for it to be enjoyed.

The fun can be felt even here.

  • what great fun!!! i can remember the excitement of egg hunts as a child! it is not quite so fun for my daughter though because she is an only child and there is the lack of excitement of being the one to find the most eggs....but when she was younger we still lived in america and had all her cousins to hunt with..so at least she has some great memories of the egg hunt!

  • The lovely egg hunt. What a nice memory for me. When my children were small, we did this for them.

  • Grandparents are great decorators of eggs and hiders of eggs.  I have been told that one good thing that we older folk can do is hide our own Easter eggs as we cannot remember where we put them.

With those heavy coats, it does not look like Easter...too cold.

  • This year I did not have the opportunity to have my grandchildren with me on Easter for an egg hunt.  They had other places to be for the day and I had church and a dinner, so we went separate ways.   I missed all the picture moments with them in their Sunday School clothes and with little baskets to use for egg gathering.  Next year must be better planned to allow for us to be togther!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful grandchildren pictures!

    Hugs,

    Deb

  • I so admire Manon in photo 2. She is looking like an angel!!!

  • Good Morning

  • What a great family activity you have it there! Your grandchildren's so adorable..

  • great moments Michel...

  • thats so sweet!

i held an easter egg hunt at my church for the kids i teach

    <3ashera

  • Good photos again I do like to see your Grandchildren. I thank you for your comments to me I think maybe i have multiple personalities, so each day it is one of us  writing ,as i do change a lot and write a lot of different ways. Seeing the word for eggs made me remember a car treasure hunt we went on many years ago and we were given a list of things to find it happened in Australia and one of the last thing was this Oeuf thing ,so we pondered,  and eventually decided it was a leaf,  of course it wasn't, and to make matters even worse ,we were one from last to finish the course not being used to the places out here in those days ,we would have got a booby prize but another couple went for miles out of their way just to win it.. Still at the end we all met in a field and had a Barbecue .our kids enjoyed it ,and so did we , Love marjie

  • I'm really happy for the children! How I would love to join in the fun too!

  • RYC: In the year 1966 it was very unusual, in this neck of the woods,  to have a baby at home. I had every intention of going to a hospital to have the baby. It just didn't work out that way.

  • Good morning! For me it is still the early hours after midnight. Apparently I don't sleep enough =)

My Clara has made it clear now she's upset with me and not speaking to me any more. I can only hope that she will someday forgive me. Because I have always been at Xanga only for her, I may not visit this place as often in the coming days. I tell you so that you will understand why, if I vanish.

  • hi, michel! I am a teacher. But I lost one of my jobs this year. I support myself and that makes a lot of difference. I went through some not nice times lately, but now I am better, I believe Thanks for all the comments and your friendship as well.

  • RYC. No I never met my penfriend, I have pictures of her with a Kaola Bear on her holiday in Australia. I have a precious necklace she had sent me just before she died.

    RITA.

  • I never live in the past but memories of days gone by come up when I go to familar places.  I had such a good time on my walks the last few days. I love getting out and going around the neighborhood.  I live in such a beautiful place and I am so grateful. Judi

  • This is the best part of Easter! I saw children at the Art Museum gardens looking for eggs in Philadelphia. The children are so cute and delighted about finding the eggs.

  • how sweet Michel!  your grandchildren are beautiful!  Thank you for your comment and making me feel better!  Love to you and Janine((HUGS))

  • I don't remember looking for eggs when I was small.  It is possible I did, and just don't recall it.  When I was a teen,, though, we hid eggs.  For my brother-in-law.  He grew up in an orphanage, and never got to hunt for eggs.  So we did it for him in his 20's.  We were VERY inventive.  I remember one year when he couldn't find one egg.  It is because we turned a chair over, and removed some "stuffing" and put the egg in the chair and replaced the "stuffing".  I think that was the last year we did it, because we could never top that year.

Your grands look like they had a wonderful time.  They will have such wonderful memories of Easter with their loving grandparents!!

  • I have to say I love the top picture of the kids and that YARD..WOW!!!!!!

  •  aww how sweet children make life worth living such gifts from God

Thank you for your sweet commet God Bless

    (((((HUGS)))))))

  • Living in the moment and experiencing the joy is good part of what life is all about. Judi

  • Springtime in France must be gorgeous.  The pictures are so inspiring.  I remember "April in Paris"(the song)  How far are you from Paris.  You take wonderful pictures of your grandchildren.  Perhaps that's because they are so beautiful...

  • My oldest who are 20 and 21 yrs old colored eggs this year, with me on Easter. It was fun it was like when they were young.

  • I always treasure the words you leave--so special!   Laurie

  • Hi Michel:  I am wide awake much too early so I will pay the price for loss sleep at work around 4 AM as I did last night.  The Xanga Tool Lock is used to keep people from typing your site into the address bar and reading your blog's those without a xanga site, sadly I feel a need for this.  You may have to sign in to your site again to visit me and I am sorry if that is a problem but I feel more secure with this tool in use.  Shirley

  • you always have the most beautiful pictures.  Thank you for all of your well wishes!

  • RYC: Nothing to worry over, but I thank you for your kindness. It's just been a rough couple of weeks and a year that started off on the wrong foot. Tomorrow is another day, no? Have a wonderful day, Michel.

  • Thanks for the link about the spaghetti.
I think the size of the spaghetti has a important role. I did it with thin spaghetti and guess...they di break in two parts.
All spaghetti are not the same,I suppose.

  • very sweet!

  • Ah Michel thank you for the link to your Brittany Photos. I do recall some of them..alas not all. They look even more beautiful now that I recalled in Aug. I may have to be content with photos of Carhaix because my friend mainly lives in Cleder now, near the sea and estuaries. He does not want to be a long distance landlord it is about 90 km away I think? ..But it does sound so magical to have a tower full of archives in the last standing part of an Abbey dating back ( found Roman beams) from the 13th Century. I don't know which sounds more  exciting the Tower with its history or the books and documents in the archives !! I love both deeply. We shall see how things go in several areas..stamina, economics and determination...Keep the good wishes coming that I may see "the tower and it's precious continents" before it must be sold..Thank you! I pray for his good fortune and photos in any case! Apparently there is a plot of land in Cleder where there were repeated sitings of the Virgin Mary over the last 30 years or so ending in the 1990's at some point..a friend of his grandmothers land or something related and only two farms over!! That too sounds interesting and I think I should research it on the Internet. Several miracles were reported to have occured there over the years. It is interesting I think that when the woman who owned the land died..the sightings stopped ( if I read it correctly) ..We write in long hand not on the computer to one another..so sometimes it is hard for me to read. But I now have a nice collection of beautiful stamps..Each letter bears a theme..Artists, Fruits, Famous Landmarks of France and other countries, Composers etc..It is a happy thing to recieve such letters. We correspond in English in defference to my linguistic limits:)

RYPost above: Such beautiful children! One can sense the Spirit Flying Free within them as well* How wonderous and green everything is there. I live in an area that is actually Mediterran in Climate and View..so lush green yards are not as common here..I love the garden those very magical children were hunting in as well! You have such a wonderful way of appreciating life in every moment and sharing it with us as you live it. I see most of the eggs are blue..is that a common thing or just something that happened this year?

  • Father spent a couple of hours here today and I showed booklet about the wonderful church and he said he has been there!!! I talked about you. He wanted to know where you live. He visits Paris about once a year. This spring he went to Rome. He said he climbed to the top of St. Peter's Basilica and it was a very long climb, but so worth it!! I asked him what he liked best about Rome and he replied that it just felt wonderful to be there. I think that is what I would say were I able to go there. Have you visited there?

  • Beautiful memories Michel,   our grandchildren are raising children of their own and some of the great grandchildren are too old to hunt eggs,  and some of them too young to hunt.   Pity there are no inbetweens . . . . .

Manon and Sarah,  such beautiful little ladies.

    Thank you for your comments,

    In friendship

  • Bonjour Michel! Merci beaucoup pour tes commentaires, que j'ai lu maintenant. Nous sommes bien arrivés et ne nous sentons bien en pays tropical. Je t'écris depuis l'ordi de BB_AM. • Beautiful pictures and wonderful memories for you and yours.  Lovely to see the spirit of joy in the children as they run hunting the eggs.

8 cats here, but 2 are roaming toms.

  • How fun! How thoughtful of you to organize something fun and entertaining for you grandchildren. Belated Happy Easter to you and your family Michel.

  • The children are precious! And I am happy to see that your tulips have bloomed. We are too wet and muddy here so far!

Yes, a sad May Day, but we shall enjoy a weekend together and that is all that matters really.

    Allison

  • Good Morning and hope you have ablessing day hun

  • Yes, I say feminine-although I'm not real girly-girly.

  • Michel,
toujours autant d'emotions dans tes Posts...Merci...as a mom it makes me cry with joy....

    Mimi

  • I will use heavy gloves and safety glasses when I do the tool work, Michel. I don't want to lose more than just my hearing!!!!

Our children were at mass last night and Father was stern, but loving. They were so sweet when they folded their hands in prayer!

  • YEAH I know i think there are hardly any children who don't like to build their own shelters ....be it doll houses or tree houses..........your refreshing post bring back memories of childhood!!:)

    best*

  • I think I learned this weekend that it is better to live in memories. I took my nephew the story I wrote last December on my site. I hope he likes it. Someday he will be old and have stories as well!
