Un feu dans le jardin .
A fire in the garden .
English version below the picture

I burned dry plants in the garden .last Friday at night . Sarah and Joe were fascinated by the fire .
I saw the blue smoke that was rising to disappear in an already dark sky and I thought of the year 2005 which soon was going to the end . But there were also those beautiful flames so bright and warm …….This sight made my heart warmer and this was for me the sign of a new year 2006 full of warmth , love and peace . This is what I wish for you , my friends .
MY BEST WISHES
FOR THE NEW YEAR !

Warm wishes back to you and your family. I hope that 2006 promises to be a great year for you!
What a beautiful comparison and sentiment. I echo it back to you.
I pray your new year is filled with love and happiness for you and those people that are near and dear to your heart!
All the best for you and your family in 2006 my friend.
My granny use to warn us if you play with fire you will wet the bed
sorry had to say that, I remember her telling us that often. Hello Michel. I hope your New Year is filled with love, happiness, much good health and some wealth but not more than you need wealth wise. I never celebrate the New Year other than the old tradition of eating cabbage to being money into the New Year, black eyed pea's for good luck and a dollar in your sock when you go to bed. I never stay up to see the ball fall did that one night and wasn't impressed. I am old and I need my sleep
Shirley
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to you!
I am reminded of the verse that says our life is like a vapor. I'm sorry I can not think of the reference.
bringing money not being money....it's hard growing old I make more mistakes
Thank you so much for your wishes Michel! We all have been so blessed by knowing you here on xanga!
Lots of hugs and kisses!

The best wishes for you and your loved ones in the new year too Michel.
Happy New Year.
i love the picture. burning is a fall tradition around here. ususally it is too wet this time of year to burn. happy upcoming new year - wonderful things and great success for 2006. cheers!
how very cool. Thank you for that wonderful wish. I wish the same for you!!
What a wonderful positive attitude in regards the new year coming. Did you roast marchmellows on those lovely flames?
Thank you for the pictures the thoughts and the wishes. My wish for you and yours is for a Happy, Healthy, Joyous New Year. (((hugs))) and smiles ~char
The fires purifies. The old year burns down and the new year will be born.
Very nice picture, sometimes a image says more then hundred words.
Bien à toi,
Carlo
I'm fascinated by fire too. lol Not a good thing.
Anyway, Happy Holidays to you!!!
here's to you, Michel. *cheers*
may your new year be a blessed one

Thank you for the well wishes and I hope that 2006 is the same for you and yours.
We had a little fire in the pit today ourselves. I didn't think to grab the camera.
What a great view and scene. I think fire draws us all in. Have a great New Year Michel...
Regarding your comment: It's a live web-cam of the Eiffel Tower. I like to see what the weather is like in Paris and I feel an attraction to the Tower. I'm not sure why.
I do think Paris is an amazing city although I haven't been there. I recently got an all picture book of Paris and it surprised me how big the city is.
And a very Happy and Blessed New Year to you too. I love to watch a campfire or fire place burn.
Very good idea to make the picture appear blurry to signify the old year fading, Michel.
Lovely picture and I wish for you and your family a wonderful New Year.
How very symbolic. It is nice to meet someone who sees the possibilities of tomorrow rather than the failures of today.
Nice to meet you.
Kat
I remember being facinated by fire when I was little, watching the different colors. I hope you have a wonderful 2006!
I am going to answer your comment on Ruth (richskitten) site. We have a tradition here where we build a fire outside in October or November and roast weiners (sausage?) and they are held over the fire with long forks or sticks. Then they will take a candy like puff ... it's like made of egg whites and sugar so it is puffy and covered with powdered sugar...and when they roast they should be a lovely brown outside and are gooey...soft and runny inside.
RYC Thank you for the compliment, Michel. It really meant a lot to me!

You are right, the year 2005 is coming to an end. I wish you all the best for 2006, may it be bright and happy with friends and family.
Best wishes.
That is a great thought, I love it. Nice metaphor, burning the old and letting the new rise up. I love a good fire as well. I love the way the flames seem to dance to the hissing & popping sounds. Not to mention the warm feeling of the fire.
I wish wonderful things & good health for you & your family in the coming year
Pam
PS don't worry about Melanie....she is doing fine. Year end is a very busy time for her at work and she has some time off and no internet at home...she will be back soon, I will pass the word on to her that she is missed.
Hi Michel: I really don't know what Granny meant, she had many sayings. I guess because kid's are drawn to watch fire for some reason. Granny was a wise woman really she raised her 5 son's after her husband died one son was my dad she survived very hard times so I always had respect for her and deeply admired her even her saying's like the fire she was something else.
That was a good use of symbolism in the blurred photo. I hope you're enjoying the holidays!
Yes, the children are always fascinated by fires! I wish you and yours a very Happy New Year.
I forgot Michel: Check my "Protected" posting
Fires are always nice. That's something your grandkids will remember.
I am looking forward to 2006.
Sarah is growing up.
Buring yard trash is my officially favourate activity. I am a minor pyromaniac. I can see two more in-training to enjoy setting things alight, if only with their smile.
Happy New Year!
May this upcoming year be filled with God's love, joy and peace for you my friend!
Debbie
what a cute picture! and i love the effect of blurring the picture to show the fading of 2005.
I very much hope that the new year is a good one for you, my friend.
Michel, I wanted to send a quick note to let you know we are back in our "new" house after the fire on June 14. We moved in December 1st. Tonight was the first night that we had the computer hooked back up to the Internet. I hope you are well. I think I sent an e-mail too. I will write more later. It is very late and I need to get some sleep.
Take care! Rachel (Aslans_Daughter)
y do u have to burn the dry plants? neways,. happy new yearr!!!
What a beautiful way to putting the way that the year is closing Michel. Wishing Janine yourself and the family a wonderful new year
Hello Michel. Thanks for stopping by. In answer to your question. Dad is the father of the child that I was counselling. His father was very abusive. That is why the child and his mother were in the shelter. His father was not supposed to know that they were there to prevent him coming and hurting them again.
I love your site. The picture in this blog is lovely.
Happy New Year!
Hi Michel! I hope you had a wonderful christmas with your family. Thanks for always sharing such wonderful photos with us. I wish you a 2006 filled with happiness.
Paula
best wishes to you too!
Hypnotic fire-plumes of blue, billowy smoke-like a painting. Wish you all the best for the new year, Michel!

bonne année à toi et ta famille

2005 brought some sadness but on the positive side I met a wonderful Xangan friend and his charming wife- what more could I ask for.

From the King James Version
James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
I knew it was there somewhere. ;^)
Happy New Year, friend!
Very nice pic. You have an interesting blogring!
I'm from your blogring. My posts are protected so you need to sign into xanga first
See ya,

I'm always ready for a good campfire. However, when I was a firefighter, I also saw the destruction that fire can cause.
Have a Happy Safe New Year.
oh you have written another entry.
YAY!

All good wishes to you for the new year and beyond.
We aren't allowed to burn our gardens here; we have to mulch them. I like the analogy of the burning to the end of the year. I hope you have a wonderful 2006 with your precious grandchildren.
I sure hope you all have a wonderful 2006! I wish the best for you and your beautiful family.
Love,
Livia and the critters
May your family enjoy all good things, dear Michel. You bring joy and peace to the hearts of those who correspond with you. And your exquisite wife and children, and their children, bring joy every time you share their beauty with us! Love and light!
Warm wishes for the New Year to you and yours too
Quelle belle image cher Michel !

Jeana and Terry are the couple that my daughter Beth lives with. She helps care for their seven children. I will post the molasses cookie receipe on my next blog. Best wishes for many blessings in 2006 for you and your family.

You asked about the feet on the cushion in front of our chaise. Carlo and I share it, but he says it's my special chair.
I love looking at the photos of your grandchildren.
I've always been fascinated by fire and the beauty the flames make. It's an amazing site and I'm sure they loved spending this moment with you. Your brilliance and knowledge is something they'll always remember and hold close to their hearts as will all of us you've touched so on xanga.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you for your greetings !
Its was a very nice surprise; its always great to hear from you.
Grerat
Great comparison!

a resolution is kind of a promise to change a behavior in the new year...most people choose to quit smoking or lose weight...and probably 1 in 50 actually follow it through
What are those kids burning?
Beatuiful my friend God Bless
HAPPY NEW YEAR'S
this time in my comment i used a website tranlsator. but usually i dont do that. so first it is in french and then english because i'm just stupid haha.

I've noticed your comments on other sites...I thought I would check you out. I'm glad that I did. Your site is beautiful. I will stop by often(and brush up on my French)
A wonderful New Year for you!
Fran
I have been privileged to watch "The March of the Penquins" on DVD with closed captioning. It was made by a French crew and company. It is awesome. Have you seen it? When I think of the wonderful things that have come to us from France, I am so grateful! Most of all, I am grateful France gave us you!
In response to your comment, un peu.
Happy 2006 for all of us. May the year be full of better health for all of those we love. May our children be happy. Wish they could all be the age of those who enjoyed the bon fiire....and that their ills could be fixed with a kiss and a bandaid. Lots of love to you and Janine and all of your lovely family. Your friendship is a joy!
Love, Nancy & Bruce
bonne année!
i have moved my xanga to http://eveymcbeal.blogspot.com/
a new year, a fresh beginning!

Happy New Year Michel! Best wishes to you and your beautiful family!
Thank you for the beautiful image, Michel. It is raining here--in gusts. I'm not used to rain. Usually it would be snowing at this time of the year. So it gives me great pleasure to visit your site and stand outside in the crisp autumn air with your grandchildren, enjoying the garden and the seasons of the year, and seeing pictures in the fire!
The best of New Years, and many prayers for you and your family!
Hi .(Bonjour)
I'm going to write a sentence...no. I'm going to TRY to write a sentence "au francaise" I don't have the little cedilla(is that what you call it?) on my typewriter. Would you be so kind as to correct my attempt .. I know that's kind of a bold thing to do, to make you teach. I won't do it often...Just once in a great while, if you don't mind. Francoise...
"S'il vous plait" That does sound clumsy. And...perhaps childish. I know that there is a better way to say it.
wow...what a way to describe the ending of one year and the beginning of another....what an insight you have Michel!!!
Praying that you and Janine and all your family have a wonderful New Year!
Hi Michel: Wishing you and your family a fun time bringing in the New Year. My site is in "Protected" for now.
Shirley
Meilleur voeux, mon ami!!

I wish you, Janine, and your family much happiness and much love in 2006!
C'est formidable! Happy New Year to you, I understood most of what you wrote in French. Yay! For 2006, I hope to learn much more, and I think I will.
Thank you for you comments and wishes. I also extend a Happy New Year for 2006 to you and your family.

Happy New Year to you and your family, Michel.

Fire refines and purifies!
Thank you so much for my Christmas greeting ~ your card was one of the cutest designs I received/ Happy New Year and blessings of the same ~ kiss Janine on on the New Year on my behalf!

Hi Michel. I was just reading your comment and you ask why I title my site Life with the Kiwi.
Hy husband was born in New Zealand. New Zealanders call themselves Kiwis (I guess this is after the national bird of New Zealand - a kiwi. There is a picture of a kiwi bird at the top of my site. Anyway, that's where I got the title from. That's how I got my name pjskiwi from. I was going for pj's kiwi. Since you can't have apostrophe, I got pjskiwi, which works too because pjs are my initials.
Paula
HAPPY NEW YEAR MICHEL, TO YOU AND YOUR DEAR ONES!!!!!!!!!!
A HUG,
LUCY
A beautiful post and dedication to the passing year Michel.
I prefer your send off the year - smoke to the skies. Here they send bullets.
A bientot.

ryc about the bassoon, Michel. I have not played it for many years. I sold it after I was married, and when I tried to see if I could at least rent another one, the music store laughed at me. I guess bassoons are too expensive to rent out.
Mozart is, of course, wonderful! But his concertos for the different instruments are meant to show off their range and flexibility, and of course they only do that when the player is an artist! I was going to say he was cruel, but no, only skillful. How could he have known the limitations and challenges of every instrument in the orchestra? I doubt very much he had played every one of them, although I know other people who can, so maybe he could too.
I play the piano a little, and now have settled for giving the piano away, and playing on a little keyboard. It is satisfying, but there is no deep rumble of the bass, which is the sound I most like to make!
Thank you for asking a question which gives me much pleasure to reflect on and answer. I hope your New Years Eve is proceeding with good food and company and much hope and love!
monsieur michel you must forgive me. my french is very rusty.. i hope you and your family have a very healthy and happy 2006!

Happy New Year, Michel!
By now, it is New Years by you. I wish you and Janine a wonderful, healthy 2006.
Dearest Grandfather Michel, I consider myself blessed to have made your friendship. I send up prayers for you and your wife, your children, your grandchildren, and on into the generations. May we all share in a peaceful, loving world, together as one family, always. In God's grace. ~ Paloma
Awesome photo!
Happy New Year! <3
What beautiful sentiments, Michel ... as the plants return to nature through ashes, the year burns away, as well; the plants to be replaced by new and vigorous growth ... and 2005 with a new and, hopefully, dynamic year. Your blurring of the photo is a brilliant touch!
Wishing you only wonderful things for 2006 - peace, joy, happiness, good health, contentment, love, friendship, new adventures and more good fortune than you can count. Take care, my friend, and may God richly bless you in the coming year, as I have been richly blessed in knowing you. Love, Nancy
Happy New Year to you and yours!
I hope your holidays were lovely. Happy New Year! I hope this one brings us all a needed peace. I like your symbolism with the fire. I think you must have a touch of poet in you too.
Love and a New Year Kiss,
Brenda
