      Reading at night

When our grand - children are at our home my wife Janine reads to them a story every night . They like it . Then they fall asleep quiet and happy .

  • Despite the technological advances that we've made, there is no substitute for a nightly reading with children.

  • This is my favorite time of day.  Reading to the little ones.

  • What a pretty picture!

  • your grandchildren are beautiful fauquet! i used to love sitting up at night with my grandma reading me stories when i was little as well!!

Sorry for the grammar.  It's been years since I've composed in the French language, even though I can read it with fluency.

  • it's been quite sometime since someone last read me a story to sleep. normally i'll just on the light and read till i doze off.

  • what a wonderful way to end the day!

  • Beautiful picture.  Wonderful memories in the making.

  • How precious! And how adorable these babies are! What a grand-mother!

Thank you for your gentle comments, Friend!

  • What a great moment before heading to bed.  The photo is just priceless!

  • Ah, such a moment of happiness to make special memories for Clara and Sarah.  I always read to my children (Jane, Sarah, and Elizabeth).  Now I read to the grandchildren whenever I have the opportunity.  There is a short poem that begins, "There is no frigate like a book to take me to lands far away."  I may not have end of that line exactly correct, but it is in the spirit of the poem.  It was engraved on the fireplace in the children's room of our public library in the town where I grew up.

  • I have memories of many similar scenes.  Alas, they go and never return!  Nice photograph.  Tom

  • I use to love reading to my children , they look like they are enjoy it . Can your grandchildren that live here in England speak english and french

  • What lovely grandchildren. Enjoy!

  • I love to read to Alayna.  Now when we get to the end of a book she says "byebye" instead of "the end"

  • You have three beautiful girls! Sarah's face has changed just bit since I drew her. Does Clara suck her thumb? Girls, so sweet.

  • There are not too many greater pleasures than reading to children.  I make sure to read a story to my kids every night.

  • Those reading times are very special for kids and parents / grand-parents

  • What a sweet way to build a memory bank.

  • I used to make up stories for the children and tell them every night. This brought back memories. Nice picture.

  • Isn't it great!

Those moments are the best. The confidence of the children, the rest that spreads...

Almost every evening I sit at my girls bed, just like Janine. But we make up stories ourselves.
Sometimes that means lots of laughter. Like this evening....

    Have a nice weekend!

  • I MUST HAVE BEEN LAZY I MISSED THIS LAST POST PLUS OTHERS ON OTHERS SITE. I DID GO OUT YESTERDAY SO DIDN'T COME BACK ON. lOVELY PHOTO OF JANINE AND THE CHILDREN. SO 'AT HOME' WISH ALL FAMILYS WERE LIKE THAT. CHEERS MARJIEsorry forgot to turn caplock off.

All the world's children ought to have the pleasure and the good luck of growing up surrounded by good books and affectionate grandparents. Clara and Sarah are lucky.

  • Love reading to the grandchildren.  My favorite book is Winnie the Pooh...I read from the book given me by my mother...oh so very many years ago!  It is a little faded on the cover but the words still ring brightly   The pleasure of the childrens smile is the reward of gold

  • How incredibly sweet!!  Those beautiful grandchildren will have lots of great memories of their grandmother.

  • Awww Michel, the children are so beautiful and your wife is very pretty also.  You have a very nice family!  I thank you for your ever so kind comments on my site.  I love seeing your comments.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  Have a wonderful weekend! !   Love and hugs! ! !

  • Storytime! I used to love that. Unfortunately, as soon as I learned to read, my parents made me read for myself. I don't think they understood the purpose of storytime.

  • Vous avez une bonne vie.  Votre famille est tres beau.  C'est une jolie photo.  Your site makes me smile.  I don't know how to say that in French.  :)

  • My mother in law reads the children stories too. The kids like it It only occurs just a few times in a year that we have the chance to visit...according to the kids they'd rather like her around every evening...

  • Great moments. When I did that to my kids I used to have a book in my hand and just invent stories, great hours.

Strange use of language ,english, they say 4 years old when really are very young, should we not say 4 years young? Kidding.

    Ciao

    Carlo

  • Ohhh what a gorgeous photo, Fauquet!!  They are beautiful little girls!  I have vivid memories of my father reading the Lord of the Rings to the two of us when I was about seven ~ I'd cheat and take the book to bed with me and read on ahead, and get frustrated when Dad would start from where we'd finished last time so my brother didn't get lost in the story

And contrary to popular opinion, I wasn't a truly terrible child ~ not really.. I never really worried my parents as a teenager.  The only thing I did that gave them cause for worry was all my horse riding.. My brother and I weren't out drinking and doing drugs or anything like some of my parents' friends' kids, and I know my parents were relieved about that!

  • The one is obviously a story-girl, but the other...the other is dreaming of the silver screen!

  • I wish someone had thought to take a similar photo for me, of me reading to my girls when they were little.  My "baby" turns 18 this coming week...

  • Lovely picture! What a nice way to end the day.

  • what a sweet picture...Very loving..

  • What great fun they are having

  • To answer your question ~ allergies in Georgia at this time of year are caused by ragweed.  I have a sore throat, am congested, and feel like I can't breathe.  The "season'' lasts a few weeks here, then things will be better!  Thanks for asking, and have a great evening!

  • i still love it when someone reads to me :)

it's so very important for the children - merci!

  • charming photo

  • Reading to children is a great pleasure as well as a wonderful gift.  To help children learn the joy of reading and listening to good stories is very important and enjoyable work.
