  •     Vendanges tardives

        Late grape gathering .

Yesterday , at last , I could pick the bunches of grapes from my only one grapevine . These white grapes were just ripened and rather good . I gathered two buckets . It always is moving to pick these grapes , product of the ground and the human work , in this case the mine . This has a particular meaning for me . Considering all the rains we have this year in North France ( Amiens is 150 km north from Champagne district ) I wondered if that dessert grapes would ripen . It did but it was a late grape gathering . Dear friends I offer you in mind a bunch of my grapes .

  • Well thank you Michel! We like grapes. In Dutch: druiven. Most of the time, when I buy grapes, our children make an attack on them. I let them eat...it is healthy!

  • Thanks Michel!

In my mind I will crush them so I can make wine!!!

  • Champagne, now that's my favorite!

  • Twenty years I waited for my vine to bear grapes

They look OK until you try to eat them   uuuuugh

  • Michel,

I am glad your grapes have rippened.  I have liked working with plants & had a garden in the past.  It is most rewarding. Now I have only a few small flower beds, in need of much work, but it is late in the year to do much with them now.  In spring, if I am still in the same place, I shall attempt to spruce them up a bit.  If I am elsewhere come spring, I shall see what I can do in that place.

I am sorry Mikey was not receiving your messages.  We do talk each evening, sometimes until late.  I do not mean to monopolize his time.  I just enjoy our chats so very much.  I am so looking forward to our meeting in 53 days!!! (yes, i count days now!)

I enjoy your writing, as I can sense a depth and wisdom in your words. I wish to meet you someday as well, if circumstance permits.  Maybe Mikey & I could make a trip to France. I have only been to France once, in 1988 for a weekend.  It was in early May for my 27th birthday.  I enjoyed it but the trip was too brief.

Have a great day!  I shall look forward to your next writing!

  • Thank you so much. I accept the gift every so graciously. Maybe a bit of a curtsy too. :)

  • If I were grape picking I would eat them all
