  Mon Beau - Père , Louis ( 94 ans ) souhaitait réunir toute sa famille : enfants , petits - enfants et arrière petit- enfants à sa maison . Il le fit le samedi 26 Août dernier . Il eut à sortir de l ' hôpital où il vit pour séjourner deux jours chez lui . Ses deux filles organisèrent le séjour , la réunion et le repas .. Je pris  ces 4 photos suivant les générations .

  My father in law , Louis ( 94 years old ) wanted to reunite his entire family : children , grandchildren and great grandchildren . He did it on past Saturday August 26 . He had to get out the hospital where he lives to stay during two days at his house . His two daughters organized the stay , the reunion and the meals . I took those 4 photos following the generations .

As you see we have also celebrated his birthday ( 94 ) and the Joe ' s one (6) with his red t. shirt
Comme on voit on a aussi célébré son anniversaire ( 94 ans ) et celui de Joe .(6ans )

  En regardant ces 4 photos beaucoup de pensées me viennent à l ' esprit à propos du temps qui passe , des générations qui se suivent , de la famille , du changement des modes de vie , des mentalités et aussi à propos de ceux bien aimés qui ont disparu . . Louis est à la fois la fondation et le somment de cette pyramide familiale . Il est maintenant le seul de sa génération . Sa femme est décédée en 1998 . Mais il est bien entouré par l ' amour de tous et il est le lien se la famille .

  At watching those 4 photos many thoughts come to my mind about time that does fly , generations that follow each others , family , change of way of live and mentality and also about the beloved missing ones . Louis is both the foundation and the top of this family pyramid . He is now the only one of his generation . His wife has gone in 1998 . But he is well surrounded by the love of all his ones and he is the link of the family .

                           Dimanche denier je suis allé avec Janine rendre visite à son père, Louis , qui vit dans un hôpital long séjour dans sa ville , RUE à 75 km d’ Amiens , près de l’ estuaire de la Somme . Janine et sa sœur vont le voir 2 fois par semaine. Il a 94 ans et souffre de bronchite mais en ce moment il va mieux . Il est toujours heureux de voir ses enfants et petits – enfants.Il ne se sent pas abandonné ,. J’ avoue que j’ avais le cœur serré de voir cet homme , physiquement  si diminué . 
   Quand nous l’ avons quitté j’ avais le besoin de respirer un peu . Nous sommes donc allés en baie de Somme au Crotoy . Il était 5 h 30 du soir . C’ était déjà le crépuscule  Il faisait froid , presque désert . Quelques courageux  marcheurs promenaient leurs chiens sur le sable humide , à marée presque basse On se sent si petit devant cette immensité , ciel , mer , sable  et dans le même temps on a le vif sentiment d’ exister . Un sentiment de durée aussi . C’ était apaisant bien que j’ en frissonnais .

       Last Sunday I went with Janine to visit her father Louis who lives in a nursing home in his town  called RUE , 75 km far from Amiens near le bay of the river Somme .( northern France ) . Janine and her sister visit him twice by week . He is 94 and is suffering of a chronic bronchitis but at this moment he is better but frail . He always is happy to have his children and grandchildren and he does not feel  left behind  . But I confess I was heavy – hearted to see this man physically so down .

   When we left  I needed to have a good breath . We went to the bay of the river Somme at Le Crotoy . It was 5 h and half p.m . I already was the twilight . It was cold and the place was almost desert . Some courageous people walked their dogs on the wet sand . The tide was half low .
  We feel ourselves so little in front of this immensity : sky , sea , sand and in the same time we have the deep feeling to be . It was appeasing even If I was shivering

Hier Dimanche 18 Mars 2007nous avons rendu visite au père de Janine ( 94 ans ) qui vit dans un hôpital rural
dans sa ville appelée Rue dans le département de la Somme et située à 75 km d’ Amiens .Il s’ appelle Louis .
Pendant une paire d’ heures il nous raconta ses souvenirs de guerre quand ill était prisonnier de 1940 à 1945 . I
l était couché à ce moment – là mais en bonne forme .

Yesterday Sunday 18 March we visited Janine ‘s father ( 94 year old ) living in a nursing home

 in his town called Rue in the department of Somme and located 75 km far from Amiens .

He is called Louis .

During a couple of hours  he related to us his memories from the war II

when he was a war prisoner from 1940 to 1945 .

 He was laying at this moment on his bed but in good shape

  Janine at moi sommes allés à l’ église le matin puis les enfants et leur famille sont venus pour le repas vers 13 h .
Il est toujours très  réconfortant d’ avoir nos enfants rassemblés  autour de nous , même si certaines traditions
semblent  changer à première vue  et  pour le moment . Jetons un coup d’œil sur la salle à manger pendant le repas .
Les petits -enfants ont déjà mangé et jouent dehors au soleil . Janine avait encore préparé des plats délicieux et choisi des vieux vins .
L’ ambiance était joyeuse et chaude .

  J anine and I were at church in the morning then the children and their families came for the meal around 1h  p.m. .
It always is very  comforting to have our children gathered around us even if some traditions seem to change at first sight and  for the   moment  .
Lets us catch a glimpse of the dining room during the meal . The grandchildren already have eaten and are playing outside under the sun .
Janine still made prodigious dishes and had selected old wines . . The ambiance was joyful and warm .

 Janine’s father was at the table like a president.
