  • Un enfant organisé

    An organized child .

English version below the pictures .

M.Fauquet March 06
He is taking caution to not overflow . Sure gesture

    Dur d ' atteindre la peinture !   Photo M Fauquet March 06
    Hard to reach the paint

We have at our home a kind of treasure for the grand children when they come .: a lot of old toys , of games , all sorts of books , , old Christmas tree decorations , coloured pencils , boxes of paints , paint brushes etc … They love to spraid many of them on the floor and enjoy to find the item that is for them a pearl at this moment .

So , last Wednesday , Antoine was waliking in the living holding one painbrush and two old rulers . I told him " You want to paint ? " .

He sat at the table and asked a paper . Then he started to paint without stop and made …a square ! The photos above show the seriousness , the method at work !I wondered how a 3 1/2 old child was able to apply himself with so much organization . He worked on his own and stopped only when the multicoloured square was ended

I thought in myself Antoine had the sens of work well done , with seriousness and organization . It is amazing how much in a so little time a child behaviour can say about what his future way of thought and action probably will be .

  • There is such beauty in this *moment* of a child. Thank you for sharing with us this treasure. ~Paloma

  • Wow, what a creative and clever baby!! I hope he didn't get too much paint on your beautiful table cloth there I agree, absolutely - he seems extremely organised and very good at planning out in advance what he's going to do

  • This post made me smile. What a lovely moment with your grandchildren!

  • The paintbox brings back lots of memories What a wonderful child Antoine is with his orgainisation skills, I love the way he has the rulers set ready to make the square. I hope he did not get too much paint everywhere esp on Janines table cloth

  • A born draftsman!

Antoine needs a book to sit on and raise him up.

  • Bonjour, Michel!

It is so good to see a post from you. And I do love to see pictures of the children. They are always so cute and precious! I just want to hug them!

He seems to have much determination to set a goal and reach it. That will come in handy when he is older most definitely. I used to love to paint as a child, I hope he continues to do that because it is so relaxing. You should keep that square he painted and tell him this story a few years from now when he will fully understand it.

Have a wonderful week, my friend. God bless.

  • A very serious artists, indeed! Your grandson is adorable, the serious look makes me smile.

  • he must be an artist genius!

you talking about old toys and books and treasures reminds me of going to my grandparents house when i was a child! i grew up with my mother but i was always at my grandmother's and some of my favorite memories were looking in her old cedar chest and finding treasures from the past.

  • The whole world know that French women are the best dressed . Janine could go and buy a similar dress now in our shops as they are full of spots. Well done for all that work changing your furnance . I hope it keeps you both warm now. I have just been watching the Paris-Nice race today and there was still alot of snow on the ground where they were riding today

  • I remember my son doing the same! Through a childs eye and mind!

    Karolyn

  • These pictures bring back memories of when my grandchildren were babies...Elena my middle child is now a teenager she has so many talents in the art field...everyone tells me She takes after me...Im so proud.  I too always have colored chalk and paint.  Color pencils and all kinds of paper around for any age child that may come to visit.  The two boys are into soccer and base- ball.  I  had my brother put up a hoop on the garage so they can play basketball too.  Thak you for sharing and bringing back fond memories.

  • yes

the way a child acts says alot about their future activities indeed

    Have a great day

  • welcome back! michel, as i have seen those pictures are really impress me.. that kid is very artistic hehe.. take good care! :)

  • Children and grandchildren are a treasure through them we learn much about life, through grandchildren we learn to fill in the spaces of life we missed while working hard to raise their parents.  Someday I will have grandchildren at least I hope.  When my son was small he loved to build to take wood and make things from it, even bar's of soap now he is in college learning a trade to become a builder.  My daughter loved to be a Nurse to anything injured especially animals and now she is a home health aid.  Sometimes we get a look into what their future may be when they are small and sometimes they change direction and search for something else.  Children are amazing.  I love the second picture of Antoine...very serious.  Gave me a warm smile.  Shirley

  • How sweet!

    Have a blessed day!

    Michele

  • It is a wonder to watch kids in activities like this.  I sit and watch the girls as much as I can because it's just facinating!

  • Wonderful pictures and he is so serious about his work.  He will be able to slow down and do the job right when he grows up already doing it, Judi

  • you have an adorable grandson... and so smart and focused for such a young age! thanks for the pictures!

  • Perhaps Antoine will be the next Piet Mondrian with his early painting skills! : )

  • How precious!  I have a series of photos I've taken of children and books.

  • Il est trop serieuse!!!

  • wow! that is organised! look at how he uses the ruler ;) perhaps one day he will be an architect

  • perhaps he will be an engineer?  or an architect?  such concentration :o )  precious memories.

    ~janny

  • That's a very organised child! Great photo too, he really is concentrating hard on that one.

Andrew buys toys, he keeps telling me they're for my friend's 2.5 year old so that he has something to play with when he comes over.  All the toys are kept in a large plastic box.  I think Andrew really buys them so he can play with them himself, he's such a big kid!

  • Oh my! He must be a child prodigy!

    Ilove the pictures.

  • Is his father (or mother) and architect or a draftsman?

I love it when a young child patiently explains their painting/drawing...often there are times when I can't work out what it is supposed to be and I will say - 'How lovely - would you like to tell me about it?.. "  and their logic and explaination of details tells so much about how the child understands their world and what it important in it.

Delightful photos Michel. Lovely to visit here Michel. Love to both you and Janine - Libby

  • I have kept certain pieces of art work my children have done, from when they were little. I also have collected a few from my nieces. Some day it will be from my grandchildren. He did very well on painting, what a cutey.

  • They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I agree. I love the way your grandchild seems to be enjoying what he is doing. I believe they can learn so much from doing things like this. It brings back so many memories of when my grandson used to visit with me. I would get out the paper and paints, then we would spend some quality time together painting pictures for each other. I really miss doing that with him. Sure wish that I had some pictures of those happy times.

    Good to have you back!!!

    Love Edie Rose

  • Oh my! That is the cutest thing I have seen today. Thanks for sharing. He it totally precious.

  • so cute! you can see the determination and concentration in his eyebrows.

  • very lovely post. I agree with what you said also, about the actions of a child today show what they will do later. very true! have a wonderful day.

  • Antoine might be a budding draftsman or artist in the making, Michel. I love these pictures of him carefully creating his artwork. It's a great idea of yours to have all those old toys and paints for the children when they visit you. I really feel these older toys have more meaning and provide more fun and creativity for kids. They get to use their imaginations more!

  • At first I thought he was painting the ruler. What a clever child he is, must of been a charm to watch him work.

    ~Jenny

  • yes...you will see
look at him again when he is 30 ;)
    perhaps an architect
we don't change much...what's there comes from a long time ago
what a lovely reminder for antoine...he will look back at this in the future and smile

    :)

  • We have a room in our basement for the grandchildren to play.  It has two televisions for watching movies or playing video games--or both.  A wall of shelving with toys, a big bin of clothes for dress-up, and a table for playing games or doing art work.  We do try to see that they do not become bored while they are visiting.  The older grandchildren---the ones in their late teens---sometimes get bored, though.  Then we get the trivia game out for us to play.  It is such fun.  And I agree that you can tell a lot about how they will grow up by the way they play.  I knew our oldest grandson would be very smart by the way he was so inquisitive when he was small.  He spoke in complete sentences by 18 months, and always asked "why" or "how" about everything.  He graduated high school at the top of his class, and is now in his last year at a prestigious university here.  He will be a chiropractor after 3 more years of school.  It is so interesting having a wide range of ages among the granchildren--ranging from almost 4 to 22.  And each so very different!  They truly are fun and a blessing, aren't they?

Antoine does loos as though he is taking his "work" very seriously.  I am sure you have his painting displayed proudly.  Our grandchildren's artwork is always displayed on the refrigerator.

  • We have a little Monet in the making! Hehe.

Why did Janine allow him to paint on her lace tablecloth? It could be ruined.

  • That reminds me of all the craft items my Gramma had for us to use when we visited her.  It was always great fun to see what we could make!  I still have an old plaster craft she helped me make, of a turtle (made out of a shell and a pipecleaner) by a pond ( formed out of the plaster and painted blue), with some greenery of "ferns" and leaves from some artificial flowers.

It's amazing that Antoine thought to use rulers for a straight line at his age!

  • How precious, perhaps he'll be a future painter .

Michel, I received your note and you are still on my protected list and I'm not sure why you cant view my page. In fact, lots of people are having problems viewing my protected postings. I know its a hassle, but all you have to do is to sign off and sign back in on xanga again.

  • I was told by my art teacher that I had 'trouble controlling paint' - ie it went everywhere. LOL

I hope Antoine continues to enjoy his artwork.

  • The fruit never falls far away from the tree.

What a beautiful moment to catch.

    He is the future.

  • I forgot to thenk you for the link to Smeeta. The spider and the corn are beautiful.

  • Sorry  Marie (  MSB ) . I unvoluntarily deleted your  comment .in cliking just at the side of your name . It was early in the morning ..... !!! But I could read your insteresting comment before . Forgive me my friend .

  • Bravo Antoine ====  Ron

  • amazing how intent the little ones can be--I wonder what he will work as, when he grows up? Any ideas Grandpere? Love to you.

  • My children were the opposite. They were never organized, and the teachers had to fight to keep them in their seats.

  • is he painting on tissue paper? hes notnearly tall enough for the table!!

  • I also have a house full of books and paints and toys for the grandchildren. After all, soon they'll be bigger and move on to other things. But for now, it's grandchildren space, and so happy to do it!

  • Hi Michel:  I left that Witch blog up until this morning, the reason I put all past blog's in protected is I take down all picture's because I have dial up Internet and it slows my site down, I must have the slowest dial up in the world.  Many of my readers complain it takes forever for them to open my site when I leave the picture's on plus it makes it harder to clean up my picture file having to go and delete all the picture's later and having to delete all the boxes in the blog's so I just do it as I go.  It was a fun blog to do and I learned a lot.    Shirley

    Annalisa

  • How deep he is into his project.   A genius of some sort I would hazard a guess.

  • Children always surprise me with how much they know and how mature they can actually be. I love seeing him painting! Art is SO important, and I think we need to pass it down to all children. It's a special part of life.

  • Isn't wonderful to have Grandchildren I even have Great Grand Children, Judi

  • Amazing! This is the first time I see someone painting with a ruler.
I think the table is a little too high for him. Hehe...
Do you have a photo of the finished painting?

  • In answer to your question: My son is the one playing the drums!

  • You really know how to capture some great photos of those grandchildren.  He is so very focused.  I believe that he will do well with whatever he chooses to do!

I am including a link that you may find of interest.  It's related to the Boggy Creek where we visit with our JouJou.

Have a blessed day(how do you say that "au francaise"?)

    votre amie,

    Francoise

  • RYC: Sure. My husband used to be in the US Air Force. One of the benefits from being in the military is that the VA (Veterans Affairs) makes sure you get a loan for a home. They (the VA) has to appraise the house to make sure of the value though, which is a safegaurd for them and for us.

  • Uh, it's so sad that you don't have American Idol, it's one of the best shows! As for the horses, they aren't mine. I volunteer with handicapped kids on the weekends doing horse therapy. Riding on horses helps them with balance and muscle control. So we do stretches and games while they ride, it's really cool! Well hope you have a good day!
    b.

  • He looks so serious It is a wonder  treasure of art to a child.

  • What a wonderful young man you have there! So serious! He will no doubt grow up to be a hard working man! I loved these photographs.

    Love,
    Debbie

  • How wonderfully exciting to know that there is a "Francoise jour" in France.    Is that correct?  Or is it..."jour de Francoise?"  Sorry that my computer is not set up for all the necessary accent symbols.. .  I am celebrating.  Merci!

    votre amie.

    Francoise

  • Thank you michel for comming to my site...Yoko Ono was John Lennon`s wife...she was not very well liked...I was being sarcastic.  Not to many people come to visit my site and some of them that use to, stopped comming by.  I forgot to mention that my Daughter Laura, mother of my three Grandchildren is an RN. She works in the Neonatal intensive care unit at the University of Michigan Hospital...Her job well fits her personality and how she was raised.  I am so proud of my darling daughter.  I got my Mothers talent in Art...She took me to the Art Museum many times when I was growing up.  I was one of my Art teachers favorites in HighSchool.  I dont know if we are born with it, or if its how we are raised.

  • Hi Michel,

My last post was from Feb. 25, but I sure do hope that you are able to see my protected posts, if not, I have to find a way to make it easier for my readers to see my site since I've been getting a lot of complaints about it. I'll try. But for now, all I can say is you have to log out and log back in on xanga again.

    Sorry for the trouble.

    -Mary

  • I am very late visiting, Michel!!
I love this blog today. You and Janine are wonderful grandparents to have these things for your grand children to work with. This is really something that they will remember forever and you have made a great influence in their lives!

Antoine has a great gift, I believe he is very intelligent! and he is very fortunate to have you as a grandpa.

  • OH! I pressed submit to early.

I hope you two are well and enjoying the beginings of Spring, maybe soon arriving.

Thank you for your kind words on my bloggie. Blizzie is doing much better but she will stay home form school tomorrow and rest fully. I am happy for that.

    Rosemary

  • You have a future artist with your grandson. I think it's great you provide and encourage your grandchildren so much.

  • He's so serious and the way he is gesturing he has the pose of an artist. Glad to see you back. Hope you are having a mild winter the way we are here in TN. It won't be long till spring thank goodness. I have a mild case of the lack of sunshine blahs. Take care...

    Love,     Brenda

  • Oh, what a lovely child!! I love the expression on his face. I have seen a documentary here about a French school that is an experiment. I wish I could remember the name. Anyway, the children had that look on their faces!

You are a proud grandfather, aren't you? I imagine you sometimes see your self in reflection when you look at him.

  • wow ... if i could concentrate like that i would be done with my work much sooner. that effort is very inspiring. here is wishing the boy many many many hours of fun filled water coloring! :)

  • Wonderful, Michel...I love children very much and this writing made me smile to see how determined he is and how organized as you say.  I would like very much to see a picture of his finished painting.  I have in my kitchen a picture my daughter drew for me one Mother's Day when she was six years old.  It is framed and is still my favorite...it warms your heart doesn't it to see this little one that is your grandson.  Many huggs...Sassy

  • thanx Michel...so sorry I spelled your site name wrong...giggles...I edited it now...thanks again...I received your message about the picture being a square.  Amazing 3&1/2 years old...he is a very focused child...great quality...have a good day...huggs...Sassy

  • Ce mec est tres cool! :D

It's pretty awesome that you took my advice. AntiVir is a good piece of software, but like I said, I didn't care for the UI (User Interface) back then :P

  • ryc: baby grrl is a pet-name for my daughter, a term of endearment if you will. she's feisty at times, hence the grrl part. haha. yes i love the middleastern and oriental art, and food, tapestries, fabrics. very beautiful and yes VERY old. thank you for your comment! you're awesome!

    Nikki

  • Such a beautiful organised child. Thanks for your kind words and your visit.

  • It is so very true that what we observe in the little ones form a pattern for their adult lives.  He is sure to be a well organized and together child until he reaches his teen years   I have found the teen years are like a glitch in the whole system!  Sending love to you and Janine Nancy

  • your pictures express his focus so well! you love your family so much. the love shows up in each photo that you take!

  • RYC. Same bat time, same bat channel. Is from a old batman show.

MOA is for Mall of America. I did not know if you knew this. This mall is several leavels. It has a amusement park in the middle of it. With a roller coaster and everything.

  • He may just become a famous painter one day. He seems to have the desire and focus! very cute pictures!

A very Happy Birthday to you this weekend, Michel! I hope you have a wonderful celebration!

    Cheers!

  •  Hope you have a great weekend God Bless

  • Now how did I miss this blog?! I absolutely love the second photo. It makes me smile. This serious artist. My C. paints with water and no paint and is satisfied. Soon she will need paint.

  • Wonderful pix, and belated Happy Birthday to you!

  • Bonjour!  Merci!

  • merci beaucoup, mon ami! Out of pain come boundaries, and much wisdom. Love to you, Michel.

  • regardez-vous commente: Thank you, I did see your comments to my poetry--thank you, dear friend.

  • Hi Michel:  I answered your question, the blog is on a protected post so you will find your answer there   Shirley

  • of course he's organized...he's your baby!! bravo

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUUUUU!!!! Have a wonderful birthday, Michel.

  • When it comes to art we each have our own ways to express ourselves.  I think it is interesting that your grandson is putting his own "tone" into his work at such an early stage. I know your grandchildren are a joy to you and your wife!  -Rachel

  • It is nice that you take so much time with the little ones. Sadly too many people use a tv or computer to keep the young ones quiet, rather then allowing them to express their talent on paper.

    Hugs,

    Cowgirl

  • We kept all of our kids' old toys and our grandchildren play with them when they come. They enjoy them because they are different from the toys that they have today. Our kids enjoy watching them play with them, too.

Your grandson is a very beautiful child. It's fun to see how intently children can work on something, isn't it? Our grandson Jake colored us a picture for Valentine's Day. I will put it up on my site in a day or two.

    Happy Birthday tomorrow!

  • Hi Michel.  Nice photographs.  It reminds me of my parents.  They have all our old toys stored for my brother's boys when they come over.  Our  choirm has missed a lot of practice time since the choir leader has been sick for a while now.  Hopefully we will get back to practice soon.

    Paula

  • Each time I come back and look at the pictures of your grandson I am touched by such a focused little boy, Judi

  • Such a wonderful experience for a child to be given the opportunity to create and make decisions for himself. Such wonderful grandparents you are to provide the time and the equipment for him to do this. He is very lucky as this type of creativity has much to reward it as he grows. Too many children are rushed through childhood and are not given this time to think and devise.

  • I had to return and visit these photos for a second time.

  • RYC James is my late husband's brother. He started coming by when I told him he could store his antique Buick in my garage rentfree. He comes weekly to check if there is anything I need done and in the summer takes care of the lawn. When I go on a long trip as I did last summer when Terry was ill, James comes here and stays for the cats love him and we feel it is safer since I live in an area of high crime rate. Right now he is in Florida visiting a sister. There were ten children in the Crook family....four girls then Leland, my husband, then three girls and James and one last girl. Mom Crook had to work hard to keep them fed and clothed tho Dad Crook was a hard worker as well. Mom said she baked a cake and a pie each morning to fill their stomachs! Mom Crook's sister was her midwife when Leland was born, the first boy. Her sister went to tell Dad Crook and said, "You have a boy, now that is enough children!" Dad was not very happy to hear that.

Michel, thank you for the lovely comments! I wish you a lovely weekend as well!!

    Bev aka Maxine!

  • ***Happy Birthday Michel***

  • You Alice and I all have March 12 as our Birth date.  Hope you have a wonderful time tomorrow.  Happy Birthday.

  • What a cute boy Antoine is.  Maybe a future fine artist!  I think you have a photo gift too, Michel!  Thank you so much for your compliments on my work.  I thank you for your suggestions as well, I'm always trying to come up with new ideas of things to take pictures of!  Have a great week!

    <3,

    Aubrey

  • This is for March 12th:  Happy Birthday Dear Michel, Happy Birthday to you.  God has blessed you with another year and with your blessing we all are also blessed.  May your birthday be filled with gifts you enjoy, smiles, love, many hugs, laughter and above all may your family gather around and enjoy this special day with you.    Shirley

  • Merveilleux petit bonhomme d' Antoine !

    Joyeux anniversaire !

    & Amitiés de HK

  • Heureuse Anniversaire, Michel! Granted, the spelling may not be correct. I do try to speak a little French every now and then. The equivalent of seven years that I took should be applied at some parts of my life! I hope you have a wonderful birthday full of love and laughs and many celebrations.

I am so glad that you got your invitation. I certainly wish you could come, but I completely understand why you cannot. Do know that you are always welcome to visit here, because I would love to meet my favorite Xangan face-to-face one day!

  • Michel, Happy Birthday and many more. Hope this is the greatest year ever, Judi

  • Aww, always gray there, yikes that must be difficult.  With very little sun, I would be depressed; during the winter, I am, even more so--but I have my SAD lamp, which helps so much.  Love you, and thank you for your visit!

  • Although I don't really understand a French.

I just want to wish u a very happy birthday!

  • Bonjour! Happy Birthday! (Visiting from Laurie's site ) Very sweet pics! How awesome to see such a young artist at work Have a wonderful day!

    Christine

  • I often wonder where that concentration goes when the children become teenagers. I think it takes a vacation for a while, because I have seen it come back later in the 20s. Happy Birthday dear friend Michel. I hope it is a good one with lots of family and friends. Judy

  • bon anniversaire!

  • Happy Birthday!

    (came over via soonaquitter's site)

    enjoy!!!

  •   H  a P  p Y          B  i  R t  H  d A y    !!!!!!!!!!!

You share the same day as my Dad   March 12 .

Best wishes for a great day!  Celebrate your life and family!

  • I hope he enjoys painting his whole lifetime. Happy Birthday, Michel

  • Those are nice pictures. ^_^

I was told it was your birthday, so Happy Birthday. ^_^

  • Joyeux anniversaire à vous -

Is that right? I went to a free online translation site....

    Happy Birthday to you!
    Happy Birthday to you!
    Go to my blog
Because we have a surprise for youuuuuuuu.....

  • Livia said it was your birthday: "Joyeux Anniversaire" - and many more!

  • Bon anniversaire Michel !

  • Joyeux anniversaire, Michel!

  • I am quite behind on reading blogs, and I must appoligize.  What enchanting photos of your grandson.  That level of concentration is remarkable in one so young.  I think he has some of your artisitic ability.

    Best wishes to you,

    Carol Suzanne

  • We do the same thing with our grands.  We have a space in the basement with an art table.  I could see that beautiful lace tablecloth getting stained with paint though.  I hope you took precautions as well.  We use wax paper to protect beneath the art.  Happy birthday to you too.....Mr. Fauquet.  You certainly are a special individual.  I hope someday to meet you in person as many xangans have made you a part of their family.

  • Haappy Biirrrthday tooo yooou,

    Haappy Biirthday tooo yooou,

    Haappy biirrrthday Dear Michel,

    Haapppy birrrthday tooooo yooouu!!!

I almost missed your special day, because I almost did not come on the computer today. So glad I decided to come on for a few minutes, I would have felt real bad if I had missed your special day. I have known it was your b-day for the past month and was just waiting to wish you a happy one.

I hope that you had a really special day filled with all the things that you enjoy. Wishing you many more happy ones.

    Love Edie Rose

  • Oh my goodness! He will surely enjoy the work of Piet Mondrian! Seriously, this demonstrates a real natural aptitude for the arts!
Still! Have him follow the footsteps of Henri Matisse, rather than Pablo Picasso - A legal degree is good to fall back on when the galleries are unkind

A good week to you sir!

  • This is beautiful! It's nice to see a child playing with something like paints and rulers to create. It's a wonderful sight. You are truly a great grandfather to provide this to your grandchildren. They will have many happy memories of being able to play at your home.

    Happy Birthday to you also.

    Meg
