  • Premier jour à l ' école

    First day at school

    English version below the picture

    Photo Marina Fauquet          september 2005

For Manon ( 5 years old ) and Antoine ( 3 years old ) it was the first day at school last Friday . They were so happy ! See Manon who makes a gracious step of dance and Antoine who enlarges his smile in putting a finger at the corners of his lips .. I hope they always are as much happy the next years and school gives them the tools for a great achievement in all fie!ds of the human life .

Merci, Michel.

  • Oh, I love that beautiful and adorable picture of them! How totally precious they are!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us! ((((Hugs & Love))))

  • I have a similar photo of Thomas and Alice from my blog tomorrow as they started school today . Manon looks so happy to be going to school like his big sister

  • Hi Michel.. there is nothing better than seeing the eyes and smiles of little ones is there???  Glad they were excited about the new school year.  Today I will be going back to the Civic Center to assist young ones to register for school..Their little lives seem so very bleak right now. My heart goes out to them... con amistad , prissy

  • Lovely picture.  I remember my first day at School.  Loads of boys were crying.

  • Yes, I'm in band =). I play the clarinet, trumpet, and piano by ear. It's a lot of gun.

Aw, the kids are so adorable!

  • that last sentence on my post is actually from a sarah mclaughlan song called train wreck...i love it! sorry for the confusion!

  • lovely, adorable children with their sweet, innocent smiling faces! thank you for sharing!

  • hi thanks again for looking for me, i need 3 feves for a wedding cake for a friend in the united states, and no i do not speak french ,i am canadian so i took french in high school and can read a little french and pick out a few words but the french we were taught is pronounced differently  from the french here

    thanks wendy

  • So very beautiful

  • Oh, so cute! They are adorable! You're blessed.

PS: My French is improving. I didn't need to read the english translation below the picture!

  • They look so excited about school - may they always continue to be as happy ! I'm sure there were a few tearful mothers here today when their " babies " started school.  I taught in an infants school ( 4to7yr olds ) for a short while and remember mothers sobbing their hearts out making thier offspring weepy too. As soon as the mothers disappeared the little ones cheered up. Marie

  • Manon is the prettiest girl!! And Antoine looks so mischievious! What a great picture!

  • ILS SONT TRES MIGNON. AUJOURD'HUI EST LE RENTRE POUR MOI.

  • cette photo est tres mignonne!

  • Oh my!!! They are sooo adorable!

  • I like these pictures very much!

To me, it points out how we are often very much the same, even if we live in different parts of the world.  My children behave in the same way that Manon and Antoine do!

  • Comment mignon! Quels enfants adorables. Ils semblent si contents aussi. Dieu les bénissent toujours.

How cute! What adorable children. They appear so content too.  God bless them always.

  • as long as you teach them too   they will be fine humans   so beautiful   than you michael   magi

  • Michel--

    --Matt

  • Miles started school on Aug. 22. He is into his third week already. Your grandchildren are such little dolls.

  • adorable kids. the babies heading off to school. all the friends they will make and stories they will come home with. the beginning of amazing times.

  • First day of school. How special. I'll always remember my first day... and I'll always remember the first day of the kids who were on my school bus, when I was a school bus driver.

Such a special moment, in ones life.

  • The photographs on your site make me cry! I miss Europe so much and I look forward to this summer when I will get to go back. They are beautiful photographs.

  • What beautiful children, Michel!! You must be very proud of them! I, too, remember those firsts...first day of school, first tooth, first steps...on and on. They grow so quickly, do they not?

  • The cutest pictures!

And thankyou for the absolutely beautiful post on my site.

  • Oh, what a precious picture of the children, Michel!  Certainly they will learn a lot and have much to tell you.

  • Dear little children I do hope that the future will be kind to all these little ones just starting out in life the world seems to be changing so much one wonders where we are going Love Marjie

  • Adorable children and fortunate to be growing up in such a beautiful country.

  • Oh, Michel, they are simply adorable! I just have an overwhelming urge to hug the stuffing out of both of them! I hope they will enjoy school and develop a true love of learning that will last throughout their lives. I am so glad I was able to teach my daughter to appreciate the value of a good education. Even now, I find I receive as much pleasure watching her work through her college courses as she enjoys taking them. She has threatened me, though, that she is going to make me pay half the cost of her textbooks, as I spend as much time reading them as she does!   Have a wonderful weekend, my friend. Nancy

  • School is definately a milestone...  I love the pics of Manon and Antoine.  They look so excited!

  • Hey Michel!!! Im getting more and more settled and have decided to return to xanga. I have missed reading your blogs especially :)

Your grandchildren are adorable. They are obviously very happy and optimisic at what the school year will brimg for them. The picture unleashes those memories I have of my first school days. All the unexpected things that could happen in a school year!!!

Unfortunately, I will not be able to go back and catch-up on your previous blogs. BUT I couldn't help but see the picture of you in the garden with your carrots. It is an excellent picture. Full of peace and greatfulness. It is a picture I would have imagined of you, sitting so content in your garden :)

    Love,

    Sarah

  • They are so cute!  I hope they love school.  Alayna starts next year!

  • The children are so beautiful! I hope they have a wonderful year at school and learn to really love education!

  • They are delightfully and perfectly cute!

  • thxs keep in touch, cute kids

  • everytime i comment on any of your blogs, I scroll down a large list. you
connect to the world easily, I see. perhaps due to your simple thoughts?
that most in life ignore so easily!

as you can see, i am busy analysing everything except my thesis!
    ;)
the topic is public-private partnerships in India's children sector.
am nowhere near my topic currently-swimming in my thots!

  • Grandchildren are our reward for being there for their parents way back when!!! They are adorable, Michel.

    A bientot, j'espere,

    Sara

  •  Aww how adorible God Bless you and yours my friend .

    http://ann.sh33pie.com/cry911.gif

  • Manon is posing so daintily---as a little girl should.  And Antione-----well, he is a typical boy.  Have you heard of the old rhyme " Snips, snails and puppy dog's tails--that's what little boys are made of"?  Antione looks like that, with his making a funny face.

The other half of the rhyme is " Sugar and spice, and everything nice---that's what little girls are made of".  That seems to fit Manon, too.

Our grandchildren are our treasures, aren't they??!!

  • I love it, they look so happy! (Wish I was that happy to be in school).

It's nice to see someone want so much for their children, sometimes it seems so lost nowadays.

    -the rachael

  • Oh, Manon looks so sweet! Haha... Antoine... well, he looks like a typical cheeky little boy! Hee...
I hope the French education system is a lot less maddening than ours! May they have much joy in learning...

  • Hello Michel! Thanks for coming by and visit my page! Aww.. that was so sweet, uncle hehe :D Have fun and take care! :D

  • c'est mignon :)

    à cet âge - on aime encore l'école :)

  • lol! I adore those children. Being in France must be great.

  • aahhhh..you must be proud, Michel...  It must be nice to see a second generation coming from you starting something so important in their lives! I know what it is, as I am a teacher

Thanks for the birthday wishes and the card, Michel. It is very important to me to be remembered by such a nice friend as you.  God Bless and have a nice weekend!

  • I took your advice and wrote something about your flower. I hope it is ok with you but I had the flower you posted in mind when I wrote it. It's on my blog.   Love, and Blessings, kc

  • They are adorable.

  • What a great picture of your grandchildren. The first day of school was always so exciting for me. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful pictures with us.

    Paula

  • Thanks for your comment on my New Orleans blog. In answer to your question, the reason they cannot say how many have died is because the city is still mostly under water and will be for about a month. They do not know how many bodies are under the water. Also, because New Orleans is below sea level, it is not possible to bury the dead in the ground. Above ground burial is used in almost all cases. Many of those burial sites opened up during the storm, so until the water recedes and they can examine the bodies, they will not know how many are people who died during or after the hurricane and how many are bodeis from the cemeteries. It's really very tragic. The one good thing is that they think the number who died is much less than the original estimates.

  • Hi, Michel.

I was so glad to hear from you, and the picture is so precious!!!  How cute!!!

Yes.  There is nothing like family gatherings.  We do know how to have fun.  My whole weekend ended up being the best yet, this summer.  Hope yours was enjoyable, as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  It is always great hearing from you.  Take care, and God Bless.

    Love & Friendship,

    Kim

  • Smiling, as always, at my visits here.  You've reminded me of Scrappy Doo's first day at Doggie Obedience School.  Funny how my mind works.

  • Ha ha ha!  Aww!  They are so cute!  I love seeing their child like innocence!

Oh, and I did call Paul, yesterday.  He didn't answer so I left him a message.  I hope he calls back!

  • Michel, You are so lucky. Your grandchildren are wonderful.

  • Hi Michel!

To answer your question, the entertainment center is for the house. It's a stand with a space for the television, and shelves to hold vcr, dvd, satellite receiver....and some of the movies we have.

Choir is starting again on Wednesday. Good thing I sat and reorganized my music on Sunday. We sing every other Sunday. The first big feast we will be preparing for is the feast of Christ the King.

    Have a great day.

    Paula

  • Oh but Michel I always dream of it!

    ~*Sazzy*~

  • The children are precious!

  • Cher Michel,
Tu me manques!
J'aime bien tes photos! Et le fleur, anemone, quelle jolie!

    Amities,
    Clementine

ps-il a deja passe ton anniversaire, non? JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE! :)

  • Hi(bonjour)

I noticed your comment on another site and I thought I would stop by and say "hi".  I could really brush up on my French by reading you.

Those are the most beautiful children.!  How well I remember my own children leaving for kindergarten.  It was only yesterday...

Time is passing by too quickly.

  • I can understand now why you will be away for a week or two with all the working harvesting in your lovely garden . It must be great eating the food that you have grown yourself . Take care while you are away as always you will be miss . Say hello to Janine from us as well

  • I think Antoine likes to make people laugh!  (I laughed to see his funny smile!)  The first day of school is a bittersweet day.  We are happy to relax a little, but our lives are boring without the excitement of being with children.

Reviens vite!

  • You're right, I can read French better than I can write or speak it. But I hope to change that soon!! I'll arrive in Paris on the 24th, and then I'll travel down to Bellac sometime that following week. I can't believe that in just 2 weeks from now, I'll be teaching English in a French school!!

  • I just realized your grandchildren (?) are close the ages of my girls. Ariana is 5 and Elizabeth is almost 3. Would you suppose Manon would like an American penpal?

  • precious children!

  • Thinking of you, Michel! Look forward to your coming back soon?!

  • Beautiful children and what a fantastic flower. Will miss you but do what you need to do, see you when you get back  God Bless

     Love Dorothy

  • Your grandchildren are so beautiful! I love that name Manon!

  • Nice to hear form you today. Gods speed in what ever you are doing. I will look now and then to see if you have had the time to come back to your xanga. God Bless

  • So precious, the Grands....I hope you are doing well. Staying busy is good, but we miss you these days.

  • This picture is the empitamy of perfect innocence!  What a beautiful duo!  They will no doubt one day soon be wonderful entertainers with lots of loved ones standing by their sides!

    Hurry back my dearest friend!

  • Hello michel, thanks for your comments in my guestbook! I received your questions very late because I didn't go and get my guestbook.. hehe.. The second picture reminds me of my riding the boat someday.. I feel like I'm flying away from my home.. :D Thanks for the sweet comments, michel! :D

  • such beautiful and happy children, I too hope they keep this happiness.  My grand daughter loves school also,  so we hope it will always be a place she enjoys going to.  She loves learning, even plays in her work books at home over the summer vacations...

  • Adorable children! I hope they keep the same enthusiasm for school when they start getting home work :)
