At the approach of Palm Sunday .
This week my wife and me will go to the cemeteries to ponder and pray in front the family graves . As the All saints day on the first of November . It is a tradition for us . Nice tradition since it allows us to feel again our parents , grandparents , uncles and aunts well living and to feel us being wrapped in their love .
Next Sunday will just be Palm Sunday . Many people come to the church with branch of box wood which will be blessed in sign of hope and life . During the Mass after the reading of the Passion of Christ the little choir that I conduct will sing a Bach' s Choral " Saint Friday " in polyphony then at the end the famous Canticle of Jean Racine by Gabriel Fauré ( 4 voices ) .I am not too much reassured but I hope it will be working .

I'm sure it will be very beautiful!
A great idea to remember family love and those faithful who have gone before us!
Sounds nice. I visit my husband's grave often.
A wonderful idea, Michel. Perhaps I'll do the same at my parents' graves. Enjoy the mass, I'll be at mass here, too. By the way, I love Fauré's work.
Our ancestors deserve all that little time and attention, we can give them... cheers...
We have palms here which we make into crosses . The children enter church waving the palms ,as we sing Hosanna Hosanna . We fast here on Good Friday and do not eat meat . Looking forward to the rest as its a holiday here on Good Friday and Easter Monday
bye Michal
It's good the pray and remember! I wish I cooould hear the chior! @-}-}--
That sounds wonderful!!
I think the choir will do a wonderful job. Amitié a vous, Bianca
I hope you'll have a great day, Michel. I used sing Hosana Hosana in the Church when I was younger. i sang in a choir...to me, it was a nice celebration to sing, hold the palm and offer it in memory of those who are gone.
Ooh! would love to hear that!!
Palm sunday? Oh oh, that means Easter is getting close and I've made no plans yet. I better start soon. It will be a small gathering... Too many in our family are at the cemetery, too.
I must admit I had forgotten about Palm Sunday, It reminds me of when I was a child and we were given these straw things. I really can't remember whether they were in the shape of a palm tree or a cross. I went to an Anglican school and used to have to attend Sunday School until I left school. Now I am an agnostic but it was nice to think about the church I used to go to, and envisage those pieces of straw. Why do you say be careful of knee replacements. They seem to do them all the time over here. I know some people they haven't worked on but when every step is agony, one thinks it is worth it. I have already had the knee looked in before, and this was the next progression. Trouble is my other leg is now also going the same way. Good luck with your choir and have a happy easter. Cheers Portia

This tradition is one my Mother does. Now that she ages, it seems that more of her friends and family have gone on. I find cemetaries to be a sad place.

Your choir sounds lovely and I'm sure your rendition will be spellbounding. What a treat for the parishioners - wish I was going to be there.
Hi friend!
In books and films love is so enormously romantisized (ooh...the spelling!), made so much bigger, so much more beautiful, that true love seems to be almost nothing.
Most people long for more when they experience love, just because of that. A kiss is a kiss....
I've never heard music coming out of the blue when I kissed. (And only saw stars because of breathlessness.)
We have to value feelings for how they are, not for how they are pictured in the films.
I read that....
i have a tradition similar to yours, i meet my family in the cemitary and we visits the graves of our loved ones...it makes me sad, but i like to remember being with everyone, and happier times. i'm sure you will do a great job with the choir!
I once got locked in a cemetary for 3 hours behind a large iron gate!
I was just sitting outside enjoying the first day of spring and thought of how beautiful it would be to hear that choir singing

my family is buried in so many places that I can't do that. I do like to remember the ones that I know...and the ones that I never met.
Your Palm Sunday mass sounds like it will be beautiful. Blessings to you and your family!!
Thats lovely Michel. Someday I too hope to be an ancestor.
I just had to come by and wish you a wonderful day!! Your comments make me smile!
sounds like a beautiful time...
With your prays and good thoughts, your ancestors must surely rest in peace.
That's a nice gesture, one to definitely keep.
Holidays start in early May for university students, but for the rest of the students, near the end of June is usually the start of holidays. Is that the same in France?
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my site. I love company. I also like cemeteries. I've been taking pictures of tombstones and putting them on a site called findagrave.com
sound like just the right things to do
I'll bet the music is wonderful. My husband was a minister of music for 16 years and the choir somehow always did better on Sundays that we did on rehearsal days and I'll bet your group is the same.
Monsieur....is a visitor to Paris allowed to obtain a driver's license temporariarly?
