Cherry time
- English version below the picture
Le temps des cerises
Cherry time
Indicible .
Cherry Time .
Yesterday with my wife Janine we picked cherries ., whiteheart cherries . This year there are many of them . The blackbirds didn’ t eat them before us . The picture shown here has been realised by scan of real cherries .
How much pleasant the cherry time is . Weather is sweet , sunny . A gentle breeze caresses you and makes the foliage murmur . We feel a exceptional feeling . Inexpressible . It is a happiness moment .
This makes me recall an old french song written in 1870 :” Le temps des cerises ” ( Cherries Time ) . Here is the beginning of it :
"When we will sing the cherry time ,
Happy nightingale and mocking blackbird
All of them will have a good time
Beauties will have mad head
And lovers , sun into their heart .
…………………………………..”My friends , I whish you had known a Cherry Time and you could know it again and always

I wish we had a cherry tree, but we don't yet. I did pick strawberries this morning. I took a kitchen chair with me so I could sit and pick part of the time, and also use it to steady myself when I got up after being on my knees. I will make strawberry jam this afternoon. What do you do with your cherries?
With the cheries my wife makes jam, clafoutis, pies and wine
Mornin Glorie...We have cherry trees that make small tart cherries and mostly the birds eat them, we do not have the big nice ones like your whitehearts, I think our climate is not cold enough in the winter! I love the song, it's like your description of Cherry time...what a glorious time indeed! ilym
Haha, about scanning the cherries. I never would have thought of it.

I love your poetic expression of the cherry time. It is just how I feel about all the gifts God gives... all of nature to behold, to feel, and to enjoy. I always envy you your life.
Many blessings,
Lynn
My Grandmother would let me climb her cherry tree and eat all the fruit I could hold. Good memories.
There is nothing quite as tasty as a cherry off the tree that is sun warmed and juicy! I hope there are some cherry pies in your future!
This is not what you meant, Michel, but I used to have plastic cherries hanging from my mirror in my new car when I was in high school. I did not mean anything by it. My folks ran a fruit stand and I used to help pick cherries as a little boy.
The song sounds so quaint. I don't think we have one here.
You are blessed,
frank
mmmm ~ cherry pie!
Thank you for the cheery cherry wishes, Michel!
This is such a beautiful, sweet post! I wish I could "rec" it!
I wish you many more cherry times, Michel!
The words to that song are so beautiful! Sigh!
When I think of summer, I think of fresh cherries, tomatoes, peaches, melons, squash and so many other fruits and veggies! I love my summer garden!
HUGS!!!
Why not a post about your up coming summer garden?
We have an old cherry tree in our yard that actually needs to come down someday. The birds were very happy with the cherries from the tree. Not so much anymore.
I like the scan of the cherries... Have a wonderful cherry time, my friend.
Love -- Carolyn
Beautiful song, and such lovely words from you about the cherries. They are poetic and made me smile Michel. I love cherries. I don't have any fruit tree in my yard, but my friends do, and I get to eat some of them.
I think I do know of Cherry time here in Texas but we call it Watermelon time and it's sweet! LOL
My grandparents have a sour cherry tree and I can't wait for them to be ready to eat!
I wanted a cherry tree and instead they sent me peach trees because of a crop failure! I guess I'll just try again. I already had a peach tree!
Yes, donkeys bite. Sometimes they just want attention.
Ah Michel scanning cherries, a wonder it didn't squish them and leave you juice on the scanner. lol
ryc: They manager apologized he hadn't gotten pork on to cook early enough. It is a new place and the portions in this country are just more than I need. Some places have a senior section on their menu. Not this one. So I had a meal the next day.
Oh how wonderful to have a cherry tree. We buy them pitted and frozen to make home made smoothies in our blender.
TY so much of your kind comments on my posts about my sons graduation and the breakfast.
To be so honored by ones child as he honored me made my heart fill with joy.
Our property is so small, we have no room for cherry trees....But I do remember being able to pick cherries, and eating them right off the tree....Fun times....Truth be told though, I don't think I want to go back and relive my childhood, I'm tired enough, lol!!
Those cherries look so, so good!
Somehow cherry time seems so much more romantic than orange time. Maybe it's because cherries are here and then gone so quickly while oranges hang on the tree, impervious to the birds and insects, for six months or more.
Yes , There is a romanticism at the time of picking the cherries, under a joyous sun and when a light breeze makes the tree's leaves sing . And as you say this time is as much precious as it is short
Nous chantons avec vous l'heureux temps des cerises
Il y en a beaucoup aussi dans notre région cette année.
Vive le mois de juin et ses trésors!
Amitiés de Nidau, AM/J
I have some good recipes that use cherries. What do you do with yours?
As I have already said above , with the cheries my wife makes jam, clafoutis, pies and wine
TY so very much for you recommend on my photos of feeding the gulls at the ocean.
I am not the person feeding the gulls, and that is not my car.
The gulls always leave a mrs son my car so I stay as far away from them as possible.
I would love to have a cherry tree, but would not like having to fight the birds.
this reminds me of many years ago going to a cherry farm and picking loads of cherries. I think we had 4 or more boxes full. We went home and ate them, cooked some and canned them and the rest we froze so we could eat them on the hottest days.
You can see I am stalking you as I read backwards in time. I love your photos and stories, and oh my, how the grandchildren have grown.
I remember cherry time at my grandparent's house in Germany. They had one red cherry tree in the back yard and a yellow cherry tree in the side yard. It was so much fun climbing up into the trees. They are still my favorite fruits.
Love,
Christine
