Rain on the window
Pluie sur la fenêtre
Rain on the windowEnglish version below the picture
Photo M.Fauquet 23 Janvier 2014
This night I was sat in front of my computer and I heard the rain lashed against the panes of the windows. I was rocked by this music that tended having a calming role in my mind. Then it stopped . I kept typing on the computer and then mechanically raised my head to look at the window become silent .
Outside it was night . Street and houses opposite were dimly lit with yellow light of a public lamp .
It is then that I saw all of these droplets, stuck to the window pane, shining like stars, small and large in the darkness of the night. My window was transformed into celestial vault . It was worth a picture, do not you think? .
Then I was intrigued by a curved lighted line that was absolutely unseen by the naked eye , even watching very carefully. I took more pictures : it was always present. I got up from my seat to be closer : still nothing. I then ran my hand against the glass and I have found it was ... it was ..... a very thin thread of spider silk stretched between the amounts of the window
What we learn from this tiny story? A lot of things probably in terms of our perception, on the discovery of things not necessarily visible in the immediate etc.. but better than that, it was a moment of emotion...
We have also our " starry nights " in the cloudy northern France, a bit different of the painting of Van Gogh .

I love it when we discover something like the spider silk and how it makes such an impression on what we see. Thanks for sharing that, Michel.
I understand, Char. You prefer the sweet temperature to the cold . Here we have a mixing of cold and wet . Not so good !
I see them,too.
I like this ... it is so poetic, and truly it has things we can learn from it. One small thing can make a big impression if we only will take the time to really see it.
Thanks for sharing this, Michel.
Love,
Carolyn
Amazing picture. I'm so glad you saw it and shared it with us.
Your own personal universe captured on the window! How fortunate to have been shown the wonder and beauty - even the spider was able to add to the creation!!
RYC : Yes, what a luck but with a bit of imagination
A beautiful photo! Yes, so worth it!
I love the rain...each tiny droplet is a joy to behold!
Spiders are so industrious and their webs are so strong. That just adds more wonder to the photo!
Love and HUGS to you and Janine!!!
just beautiful. thanks for sharing. i love coming and reading your posts. i have been lazy and need to do a blog also. ahhh.... love to you!!!
I miss not receiving xanga notifies as I have missed 3 of your entries. I had checked but had not seen new ones.
You write so well of things I can relate too. Driving is no more pleasure for me. Bus rides are hard on my back with stop/start and none go where I would want to go. It has been years since I rode one.
Today much of our highway has closed due to ice on the roadway.
I enjoy your observations of the life around you.
Beautiful.....
there has been plenty of rain here this winter with some parts of the country still flooded. I like lying in bed looking at the raindrops on the window.
The sound of rain is so soothing, wonderful for falling asleep. How nice that you can see the beauty in little things like this. So many people lack this ability.
Great post -I enjoyed your photo of the rain a lot--thanks for sharing it with us !!!
I love this post on so many different levels Michel. The window filled with celestial reflections, the silk thread on the window and the music that the rain made. I felt like I was there listening to it. Thank you for this beautiful description.
How lovely Michel. Ty so very much for your nice comment on my post of the pilings.
ice crystals on my window. I like your window better.
The things we ponder late at night. Thanks for sharing.
A celestial vault--what a lovely idea!
Greetings, Michel. It's been a while since I've been here. (I have been writing at my new blog, mostly, as I've not yet decided what to do with my xanga.) I've missed your stories and pictures. I wanted to come and wish you a wonderful new year. Of course I've not forgotten you!
x.g.
You share much with Van Gogh.
Simon friends are busy inspiring people. You did a very good job catching this composition of light in your window. Rainy night as a title?

Carlo
Ps. We are having a stormy night right now.

Rainy night like starry night . Good inspiration,Carlo!
That is so cool! Spiders are everywhere. Some in my house scream and throw kitchen sinks. It's much easier to squish them and throw into the toilet.
It does look like a starry night. Maybe when it's raining we can think of stars and dream about sunshine!
Good Morning, Michel. I was very impressed with a Black Widow spider in my early 20's. That spider bite made me paranoid about all spiders. lol My wife loves to tell me when she sees as spider on the bedroom ceiling. lol
It does sound beautiful with a little jolt of emotion.
Good thought. What are we all missing in life looking at the obvious.

When you describe as well as you do, I can picture in my mind before I see your photo...exactly as your camera captured it!
RYC: Do I understand you and wife are sick? If so...I hope you all are feeling better soon.
Yes. Janine has been sick lately. She got very high temperature during about 10 days until the labs finds the germ, cause of the infection and so the doctor could ordered the antibiotic appropriate ; She is fine now, since last Monday.
Thanks, Gail, for asking
Starry Nights will always be my favorite! As a child .. living on a farm that my mother thought was cut off from civilization (she was a city girl) I often lay on the grass in the yard and try to count stars. No famous manufacture of perfume could copy the smells of the combination of grass, new mown hay, the rush of water as it escapes the dam my brother made to try to catch the muskrat he had spied last week. Those smells always begin with the stars at night. Thank you, Michel.
Ty so very much for your comment on my photo of the ice on the outside of the apt building we live in.
Yes it is better on the outside of the apt building than on the roads.
Have a wonderful week.
At first glance it looked like a star chart.....
each drop of rain has captured light and turned into a star for you to enjoy, obviously the spider enjoyed the stars too indeed a magical moment...I'm so glad you shared this with us. Yesterday for a moment the sun came in our living room window for a moment, I noticed a small white dot suspended in the light, I too got up to inspect... the smallest of spiders had let himself down on a silk thread to warm up in the sunshine...I thought that was a neat thing too...this has all reminded me of Carlo and his friend Simon. Your raindrops also remind me of tadpoles! Thanks for your comments about my cousin...ilym
TY so very much of your comment on TD's suffering a dementia episode and have a wonderful week.
Ty so very much for your comment on my photo post entitled old and new.
I also wonder where they got the money for new sidewalks and street lamps when they need to tear down the old buildings that are decaying and rotting.
I love raindrops on windows and doors and trees... Your picture is so thoughtful and mysterious!
RYC: I am around but not commenting or reading as much as I used to because I am beginning my semester working on my BSEE and it's taking more time. My husband was called to be an elder last year and the amount of time that I am NOT at the computer is much greater now. I love what we are doing but it is eating into my xanga time. I still love you dear friend and I read your lovely posts as often as I can. <3 Rhonda
Nice idea for a picture, Michel. My husband and I and our sons are doing well. Thank you for asking.
RYC: I haven't made anything as big as a blanket in a long time. They are certainly a labor of love.
Those drops look a little like eyes to me!! The Universe is always watching us!
Here, there is only frost on the window.
I took great pleasure in the words you left on my poem. Thank you for that.
Gorgeous! I love the way your mind works.
I am not sure about the difference between coffee in the can and Starbucks, but I do know it is quite pricey.
I do enjoy a break there but not often.
Ty so very much for your comment on my photo post of Ali and her Daddy.
Une véritable oeuvre d'art naturelle et photographique!
Merci Michel du partage de cette beauté qui nous a tout de suite ici fait penser aux nuits de nos vacances actuelles à Lanzarote.
Amitiés ensoleillées
Yes, that's electrical engineering I'm studying...
I know you know something about that. It takes all my brain power at the moment. lol <3 Rhonda
