Le jour de Noël la famille étaient réunie . . Autour de la table enfants , petits enfants , Janine et moi formions une joyeuse troupe de 26 convives en comptant les jumeaux.
Il va sans dire que le menu était particulièrement soigné, le dessert était traditionnel ( le plum-pudding flambé ) et les vins bien choisis par le maître en cuisine Janine qui ,la veille avait été entourée par quelques filles et petites –files ..
Comme d’habitude des chants, de la musique et des jeux étaient organisés par l’un ou l’ autre si bien que le repas dura jusqu’au soir tard. Les photos ci-dessous en sont qu' un exemple .
On était heureux d’ être ensemble. C’ est tout simple et tout bon.
Our daughter Véronique starts a game . The family is parted in teams. The teams have to find the name of a recent or old TV show for children or adult from the musical generic that she recorded on a CD. The winning team is the one who found first.
Notre fille Véronique commence un jeu. La famille est partagée en équipes . Les équipes doivent trouver le nom d'une émission de télévision, ancienne ou récente ,pour enfants ou pour adultes, d'après son générique enregistré sur un CD. L ' équipe qui marque le point est celle qui trouve en premier.

On Christmas day the family was reunited. . Around the table, children, grandchildren, Janine and I were like a joyful band of 26 guests( in counting the twins)
Useless to say that the menu was particularly neat, the dessert was traditional (plum pudding flambe) and the wines well chosen by the master in cooking Janine who the day before had been surrounded by some daughters and granddaughters to help...
As usual, songs, music and games were organized by one or the other so that the meal lasted until late evening. The photos below are one example.

And the 16 month old twins Raphaël and Yris enjoyed the day too Et les jumeaux Raphaël et Yris ( 16 mois) apprécièrent la journée ausssi

We are both blessed with beautiful families.
How Wonderful!!! I don't think many families gather at one table often, that is very special and then to prolong the time with games is such fun! I like guessing games much better than card games, my children like to play poker when we are together but I'm not a good poker player! Véronique is beautiful, she reminds me of the american actress Sigourney Weaver and the twins are not babies anymore, before you know it they will be guessing the answers with everyone else! ilym
Yes Marsha , we alternate eating and playing together : this excites the appetite !:-) and maintains the warmth.

That was a crowd....I enjoyed the pictures, and the twins are so cute!! They look alike, but one has dark curly hair, the other is a blond..
I'm also thinking that one is a girl....Am I right?

What a beautiful family Christmas. I too had a nice Christmas tho it was just me and Finney! I have down with some sort of ailment (flu?) since Nov. 19 and still having a time. I see the doctor again on Monday!

You have a beautiful family & table. We also played games at my home with the children, grandchildren, my parents, aunt, cousin and friends. I was too busy to take photos. So good to see your family.
Just look what you and Janine started! After you are gone and your children marry and have their families you can multiply those in your picture....oh, my! They will rent a theatre!!!

Que ça me rappelle les Noëls de mon enfance! Chez nous, ce souper était la rencontre de la parenté ne vivant pas trop loin et cela se passait toujours chez nous. Beaucoup de monde au rendez-vous. Le réveillon de la veille, enfin de la nuit passée était, lui, strictement une affaire de famille immédiate. Les jeux par contre, c'était pour après le réveillon. Après le souper du soir, c'était l'heure de mettre de la musique traditionnelle et de danser (gigues et autres danses 'de l'ancien temps'
).
Je regardais les couverts et j'avais le sourire en pensant à ceux qui nous disaient dans les manuels de bienséances de ma jeunesse comment déposer ses ustensiles dans l'assiette une fois terminé. Je n'arrive jamais à m'en souvenir et franchement c'est très bien ainsi. Il y des choses tellement plus importantes dans la vie, comme les gens, tiens!
I always enjoy seeing photos of your family gatherings. It is a rarity now in America, to have so many family members together and such a long table. Maybe someday Alicia and I can attend one of your meals. If you ever visit the US, you are welcome at our home!
