Charms of the end of summer / Still and again good crops
Les charmes de l'été
Charms of the end of summerEnglish version below the picture
Photo taken on September 12, 2013 by Michel Fauquet
In that mid- september the scorching heat of summer has gone . Some days we still have sun but more often we have the changing sky shown in the picture.. Finally is it possible to enjoy this unsettled weather instead of to be permanently cooked by the sun ? I think so . This leads us to a kind of uncertainty, origin of interrrogations that stimulate our mind and keep awaken our intelligence since we have to do the effort to adapt ourself to get the best behavior like someone who has to find his way in the mist. So we can reject regrets of summer to taste the up coming season to embrace it fully without moderation!. With new projects.
And is not it wise to take the weather as it comes?

Belles récoltes encore et encore
Still and again good crops.English version below te pictures
Nice crop! Belle récolte
Nothing is wasted ! Rien ne se perd. Click on the photo to enlargeLast Saturday I was staying in front of the crop picked by my wife Janine after a simple tour of the veggie garden.
I tell myself : Wow ! there are still many things to harvest and this looks good and let guess some delightful dishes to come . Indeed there were : red beets, parsley, gherkins, green beans, tomatoes, blackberries, plums and apples fallen on the ground .
As soon as she came home , Janine prepared the apples putting out the rotten part ( due to a biting by an insect ) to keep the sane part in small bits to cook or to make compote.
She makes the tour of the garden almost everyday ,so she prepares the winter in sterilizing, in freezing such an ant. Nothing is wasted.
invader gherkins Cornichons envahisseurs
Nice celeriac, Madam! le beau céleri-rave, Madame !After this enjoyable sight I went pay a visit to my veggie garden . It was a true show . The gherkins still in bloom and fruitful invaded the territory and take over the lettuce and the green beans . Further it was the same for the squashes that ran through the path
I could not stop to admire the majestic celeriac . All is enjoyable in the garden . Vegetal life is still strong at this end of summer . And soon we will have to climb the ladder to pick the apples on the trees . And in October –November we will start the first tillage.

What a lovely photo! Also a very lovely scene.
such a nice and green area and so serene looking. I want to go have tea
The weather has been changing here too. On Monday it was very chilly but yesterday it was hot and sunny again. Until the thunderstorms came, anyway. Your garden still looks very nice though.
i like
The asters are still blooming so it is not yet time to say good-bye to summer. I enjoy the cooler nights and the still warm (not hot) days. Before we know it the sweaters and coats and boots will have to come out of storage. The changing seasons are good - I have to admit that a forever summer would be boring.
Yes we have still flowers in full bloom : geraniums, goldenrods, heliopsis helianthoides , Dahlias .... and we have also fruits .
Hi Michel, I want to hold on to ummer as long as possible as flowers in full bloom and fruit ripening...am involved in a fruit rescue group here so picking tons of apples and others such as plums and pears.
yes made it to xanga 2 due to premium member, but i seem to have lost many of my custom modules, i had before so not certain if this is just part of the transfer?

What a beautiful, peaceful setting, Michel! I'd love to sit there and breath!
I do take the weather as it comes. And I appreciate each season.
HUGS!
Beautiful photo. It captures the changing season. It's still hot here and I'm looking forward to cooler weather.
beautiful yard.....we have warm sunlight with cool breeze...
Did not realize I wasn't signed in.....
Glad the summer heat is over. Hope the cooler weather is welcome and slowly cools into a beautiful fall.
What a beautiful spot! Looks just right for a thoughtful meditation.
About the sub, I think you're right. Maybe they used it in the Great Lakes? To think of going underwater in a metal coffin? No way! I'd rather drive it down the road!
The yard is looking beautiful
The gardens prepare themselves
for the changing of the guard
soon to be no longer watched over
by the scorching rays of the sun
but covered by the blankets
of winter's frigid snows
thus the onset of autumn
prepares the leaves and flowers
for the changing of the guard
with the onslaught of hard frosts
falling fruits and festive gatherings
of friends and families at
autumns end.
For now though, for a few days or
weeks, if the sun is so disposed,
we celebrate the last warming rays of the ever watchful sun until next year's
spring.
This comment poetic shaped sounds good to my ears and goes well with the weather and the season. Thanks John.
38º F where we are this morning ~ brrrrr!
beautiful.
Wow, so beautiful! I would love to sit there and read all day
In response to your question on my post... I guess someone new could still subscribe to xanga 2.0 through the crowdhoster (fundraiser) sign-up. But it would not be an automatic account creation and there are already a lot of complaints, especially from Hong Kong users, where users claim they have contributed to the fundraiser but still don't have their blogs back. I expect that new user growth is just about 0 and will stay that way unless xanga goes back to providing free accounts - which would rightfully anger many of those who were told they had to pay to blog.
What a beautiful spot to rest and watch the seasons pass, Michel.I am also ready for the coolness of fall. Oh, but that means the leaves will fall and I will have to rake them up!
Ah, I do look forward to autumn. The weather here in South Florida doesn't get cool (I mean cooler) till late October.
Would love to sit and have a glass of iced tea or coffee with you.
I wonder if I could put a picture in a post? I don't know how here.
Soo pretty!!
Dear Michel
I love your yard and the garden. This is a beautiful picture.
I received a mail from Janet that you couldn't get to my blog. I don't know the reason for that. I clicked on your name when you had commented on someone else's blog and was able to come here.
I hope you will be able to see my posts.
Love,
Zakiah
Hi, Michel
I had rather gripe about fall coming. lol My front free is losing leaves faster than me losing my remaining hair.
I did see Mid West winters in the USA---lots of snow and freezing weather. The weather is very mild where we live now along the coast in California.
Lovely photo.
Have a ver nice Sunday,
frank
Lovely picture! I am not quite ready for summer to end.
I am still trying to figure out this new Xanga platform. I hope to put up a blog soon!
Good morning! Love the assortment of fruits and veggies! Beautiful bounty! http://jaynebug.xanga.com
lovely, lovely vegetables ~
Marvelous bounty from your garden! There is always work to do but the reward is great!!
Mornin Glorie...you are right about the moon on my post, I'm thinking that would be a faux pas on my part =/
However your garden is a true delight, I wonder if we looked at your hands would your thumbs be green?
I think they would....ilym
We are expecting some very cold weather tonight so some of our plants will have to be brought close to the house but I think most veggies are done producing...It is sad to see the end of the growing season. Your vegetables look so beautiful and boutiful..
I love veggies from the garden
Michel, your vegetable garden and its produce are a sight for sore eyes. What a pleasure to have a beautiful garden like this.
All the work in the garden is paying off in wonderful food.

What a gorgeous garden!! You are very productive and Janine is efficient!! I wish I knew how to do all that canning too. My pears will be coming ready to harvest in another month or so.... <3
Gorgeous produce!
I still find the changing seasons somewhat miraculous. It always seems like the hot summer will never end, or the bitter cold of winter, but then it does. I think it's because I grew up in the tropics.
I had to look up celeriac. I've never eaten it. It sounds from the description like jicama, a root grown in Mexico.
Hello Michael!! September here has brought changes in weather too....More rain, less sun....Cooler weather, though some days still will....
By the end of the month, it'll be more cold, less warm, even with the sun....
Your garden makes me wish I had one!!
I hope my next crop of raspberries look that good
Beautiful wife lovingly preparing a beautiful autumn harvest. Life is good when there is such love around.
Almost missed the update Michel. When you combine posts I get lost. LOL
Oh, Michel, I am so happy. I used the link you sent me and here I am on your post!!! I so love your pictures. It is as tho I am there (I wish I were)
Thank you my friend!
Love
Bev
Wow! Such great looking fruits and vegetables. I only planted a pineapple this year. It should be ready next year. The banana trees are blooming well right now. The bananas are small but sweet and there are many. We can't grow apples here - too hot. I have family who live in the north of the US and they send me some apples every fall.
Hugs and smiles,
Char
Lovely as always. I like your description of Janine as an ant preparing for winter. I hope, when I have the time and space for a garden, I'll be an ant, too.
g.
The summer has been good for the vegetable garden. I can see the result in your beautiful pictures.
Wonder if Jeanine is going to make a apple pie.

That's a nice bounty from the garden.
Am holding on to summer so thanks for all your fresh veggies. on another note this transition to xanga-2 is abit of a pain in time and effort but you always give such encouraging comments1
What a terrific harvest! It all looks so yummy. And I can imagine the good meals which will be made of them.
The scene with the table looks like a lovely place to sit and have a cup of tea or conversation. How peaceful.
Quelle merveilleuse récolte!
Bien méritée!
Mille bravos à vous deux
Amitiés, AM
