  • Background/ light in the house

     Notre paysage quotidien.
    Our daily background

      English version below the pictures

Our daily Background

    Entrée 2     2012  Décember 3 .  Closer. Viewed from the driveway . Vue de l' entrée .

When you walk or drive in our driveway, here is the landscape that you see and that is the background of our daily life. Trees and bushes offer their silhouettes on the grey sky just lightened by a pale sun. This gives a special ambiance. You feel like being in a wild place, in a wood and you heart is at peace. In the reality there are only some trees and shrubs before the vegetable garden which is waiting for you. But they are sufficient to create a background that recalls the origins and appeases you.

I know you are going to think “he has a simple heart and a nothing is sufficient to make him happy like his so simple present entry”. Can we think this man in a not too far past had to give orders, to think of new ways of teaching to publish for scientist teachers, to manage the education of a numerous family? Yes you can.  But, this man is conscious that the past is gone, that what he sowed is growing and now he has only  to taste the present time with his wife in the simplest way possible, in a feeling of gratefulness . Perhaps is it that the secret for wisdom and happiness?

On this happy music,  I highlight that yesterday December 3 was Janine's birthday.

                     Lumière dans la maison

          Light in the house.

     Jetant un coup d’œil là, je fus surpris d’y trouver des couleurs chaudes et une ambiance réconfortante, même dans une salle seulement habitée par l’antique  horloge donnant les heures  sans relâche;

    salle salon                                                                                            Photo M.Fauquet 7 Dec. 2012

Sometimes we get tired of the best things such this background under a weather almost always foggy and rainy and to say the all: grey during this season  . And guess where I found some light and some colours? In the dining room and the lounge abundantly lighted by the bow window

Throwing a glance there I was surprised to find warm colors and comforting  ambiance even in an empty room only inhabited at this time by the antique grandfather clock giving the hours without respite.

    Poinsettia

A red spot catches the attention. When we look closer we see it is the Poinsettia coming from Janine ‘ s birthday . It is like a sun, a star in the room! This is precious to have a corner in the house to enjoy the brightness during a rather sad season, in waiting for the  light of Christmas where the children and grandchildren will be there; at least at Christmas Day. It seems those rooms are waiting for this special  joy of Christmas. And us too

  • That sounds wise and satisfying to me. I hope that, one day, Hubby and I can do that and have such a background against which to appreciate nature.

  • the simple things in life are what bring calm and peace. Happy birthday to your lovely wife Janine. May you and your wife enjoy life to the fullest with your family and those things that bring you joy.

  • "But, this man is conscious that the past is gone, that what he sowed is growing and now he has only to taste the present time with his wife in the simplest way possible, in a feeling of gratefulness . Perhaps is it that the secret for wisdom and happiness?"
I like what you wrote here and to me this describes the ageing process beautifully.
I have planted my life in the past and now it is time to sit back and sow what I have reaped. Ahh the aging process comes so quickly while we are busy living and all of a sudden it is time to sit back and watch our grown children and enjoy their children, our grandchildren.
Your daily back ground is peaceful and calming.
Happy birthday to your lovely wife Janine.

  • cela me semble parfait!

    bonne anniversaire a Janine! =)

  • It is a little bare this time of year, but there is a stark beauty to it, too. The trees look lacy against the sky.

  • Happy Birthday to your lovely wife. I think as we get older we deserve to enjoy a simple life. It is great to wake up every morning next to the one we love and not have to rush off to work. Life is good.

  • A very happy birthday to Janine! I think being able to enjoy the simple things, such as the beauty of nature, and to enjoy this time with Janine is one of the blessings for doing so much when you were younger.

  • Happy Birthday to Janine. I really wish that I could live as simply as you do and be content with my life when I'm about your age.

  • You have a beautiful, simple, charming view here!

  • Happy Birthday to your lovely wife!! The beauty of nature is a sure way to remember God is good!

  • Many happy returns to both you and Janine! We can get so concerned with living for the future that we forget about the present. It's a good reminder to enjoy the daily details.

  • Happy birthday to the lovely Janine. How blessed she is to have such a poetic husband.

  • It's very rustic and simple, buy you, I'm afraid, have found the secret to success and happiness.  It lies in the simplicity of life.

  • Answer to  hesacontradiction ; Yes Ann simplicity of life , simplicity of heart are secrets of happiness .

  • Good attitude!

  • RYC: Merci for all of your comments, Michel. I forget that you don't get notification when I reply to you, so thank you for your always thoughtful remarks.

  • Hello Michel and Ty for your comment on my post about the sink hole. Yes the road that the sink hole is on is the road we take to won. There is another route into town we can take but it is over an hour one way and through the old logging trail roads that have been black topped.
Today on December 4, 2012, there is one way traffic on the road, and they are still working on getting it all fixed.

  • I wish for just such a simple heart.

  • The simple life is the best life! I love your photos of what you see around you. I grew up in the country, and I need green growing things around me to be truly happy!

  • RYC:  I'm not sure why she sent it to me, unless she just forwarded it to everyone in her email.  Actually I'm impressed with myself considering I did watch it and I'm not hunkered down in a corner somewhere, being a basket case.  I guess it shows alot of character and how I presevere and adapt to my environments, which is all about survival.  Yay me!  It did present an opportunity to open a discussion because even with my religious and philosophical background, I still don't know the answer to this question: on how or why we are chosen.  Does it mean I have a destiny to fulfill, because there have been many, many close calls in life and I'm still here.  Many times I shouldn't be living, but I'm still here.

  • I am already two days too late to congratulate you for Janine 's Birthday. I didn't see your blog until now.
It is amazing how the landscape changes in the winter. Your garden is a special place.
The big tree looks like he is praying.....reaching to God.

    Amitié

    Carlo

  • Answer to  @ hesacontradiction   above :about chosen or not ..You reach the mystery. I do not think God wants someone to be hurt in an accident or to be diagnosed with cancer . He loves and saves our souls.. For me accidents and illnesses or most of them are aleatory and God helps us though those trials to welcome us later .
But our intelligence is limited . The true scientists know that .. Jesus already said in Luke 17:33 " two women were grinding at the mill . One of them wil be taken, the other left " . To ponder !
And as you says " carpe diem " in the best way possible

  • Ty so very much Michel for your kind comments on my post about the social worker appt.

  • Happiness should be simple.

  • Thanks for the birthday wishes for my Mom. Yes, I'm sure Babs has posted pictures of her in the past.

I think I read that book, 3 Men in a Boat. Didn't they have a dog instead of a beautiful woman? Maybe I'm thinking of another book.

  • Ty so very much for your comment on my post of photos of fall color still hanging on the trees here.

  • I loved your comment. It was poetic and so is your post. Thank you for the uplifting words. @mcbery -

  • RYC:  Thank you so much for the multiple minis!  You are right and I have reached a mystery.  I wish that I was the type of person to let things go, but I just can't do it until I figure out how they work.  It's really a sickness.  My life has been complicated by multiple close calls and some that science can't figure out how I got out of those situations.  This was all after my boyfriend died when I was 17 too.  I really need to get this book published so that you guys can understand my life better and why I continued to study relgion and philosophy long after I was out of college.  I realize that the answers may not be there for me to know yet, and funny enough, I was watching a tv series yesterday (since I'm disabled and can no longer work, need to find something to do with my time) that was providing answers that I asked 15 years ago, or so it would seem.  I do know that God won't present answers until you are ready for them, or else you won't understand them.  This brings the great question: what is my purpose now?  What is my destiny that I need to fulfill?  Is this why I've been saved to perform this task and if it is, why do I keep getting hurt and causing me great pain, because I'm about to chock the living day lights out of my doctors because they don't talk to each other and keep passing me off like a hot potato and not treating me!  (I'm really going around in circles with my doctors and had to file some complaints and threaten to hire a lawyer.  I really hate playing that card because then they think I'm a trouble maker, but they have wasted a year and half of my time this time! )  Always appreciate any thoughts you have on these topics.  That's why I love the internet! =)

  • Having visited your home I know how wonderful and warm it is. Happy belated birthday to Jaine, hope she had a wonderful day

  • Ty so very much for your comment son my post Now This Is love

  • A happy belated birthday to Janine.
Also, the interior of your home is so lovely. Those moldings are incredible, and that royal blue colour--not to mention the clock... We just found our own grandfather clock, but it's in a sad state and will take some time to restore.
Ah, Michel, your pictures make me impatient to get our own house in order!

  • The simple things are the things that last. The beauty of creation belongs to the rich and poor man alike, and the one who takes the time to enjoy it is rich indeed.
You've done a good job of making the place you live into a beautiful place and of capturing it for us to enjoy as well.
I hope Janine had a wonderful birthday.

  • Michel! Just wanted to say thank you for your kind words (and nudge!)...I posted a new entry, and I'm catching up on you!

    --Pam

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANINE!
Michel, you and Janine have built a lovely home and family. It is good for you to sit back and take it all in and enjoy it :goodjob:

  • And that's why I love you dear friend Michel. Your simple heart and the beautiful thoughts and the illustrious past that has made you such a great scholar, are all reflected in the beauty of your grounds, and the bright and sunny rooms of your home. I wish you happiness always. Many happy returns of a good birthday to Janine. My father also was born on that day. :heartbeat:

  • A beautiful poinsettia it is too! Happy Belated Birthday to Janine.

When I see your blue walls I am reminded of the color my older sister chose when she bought a house. I love all your windows, glad though I'm not the one to clean them.

  • Yes it was a sad and disturbing day in the State of Washington when the 'pot' legalization and sam-sex marriage was passed.  Sometimes I feel that our country (USA)  is becoming a Godless country with very low morals.  I also see hints of dictatorship slipping in our laws or lack thereof.  I remember well, what my German Aunt had to say about living under Hitler and the lack of everything.  A friend that lives about 60 miles from me says growing up in Germany during WW2 was horrible.  She was hit with shrapmetal on the way to a shelter.

Now on a much happier note.  Wishing Janine A Very Happy Birthday.  Hope your day was special.  Michel, you and your lovely wife have a wonderful weekend.

    love,  Marilyn

  • Joyeux anniversaire Jeanine :sunny:

  • You have a beautiful home and grounds. Understand so well the feeling that you are waiting on the joy of grandchildren.

The use of the smallish rotor is in an oil refinery; a 'cracking operation' where they reheat the crude inject it with some other element and reformulate the molecules to what they want. The motor is driving a high speed compressor used to inject something into the oil. (probably hydrogen)

  • Ty so very much for your comments on my photo of td and ali

  • Happy Birthday to Janine (December 3). Your background is one that is an ambiance of wildness, woods where one can experience peace and awe. Inside the beatiful colors truly brighten the room. "But, this man is conscious that the past is gone, that what he sowed is growing and now he has only to taste the present time with his wife in the simplest way possible, in a feeling of gratefulness . Perhaps is it that the secret for wisdom and happiness? " Yes, you understand the secret for wisdom and happiness.  Thank you for checking my posts and for comments. ~~Blessings & Cheers!

  • Happy Belated Birthday to your Janine.
Michel, I just love your beautiful view of life and how the world goes by. Simplicity is the best way to enjoy life. I am so fortune to follow you here. Though I am hardly updating but I try my best to update myself here.

  • A happy belated birthday to Janine and a joyous, blessed holiday season to all of you! <3

  • RYC:  I am 36, but I'm disabled now.  We've been calling it "retirement" for a nice spin on it.  It's all in the perception.  I'm trying to go back to college to do a computer job, but with my disabilities, it will make it difficult and right now, I can't do it.  It will take a lot of rehabilitation due to the injuries to my neck and my muscle diseases and then we still have the recession going on and since I have to have accomadations provided, this will  make me last on the list to get hired.  It's discrimination, but it happens and there is only so many jobs I can do with the mild brain injury.  I have to make sure that it's worth investing the money to be able to make money.  I'm supporting my husband in becoming a general manager, so I stay busy with him and two teenage girls.   They did botox to the neck and shoulder muscles today and I can move them now without so much pain!  The doctor told me that I was really messed up and if I needed anything to give him a call.  He loaded me up with some different meds to help with the pain and I'm back in physical therapy 3 x's a week.  They have a new patch to push steroids into the trigger point and I look like the bionic woman!

  • Sometimes I think those who have had a career where their minds were constantly needed to make the changes they were in charge of...have the greatest appreciation for the simple things in life.
They have been earned by many years of toil. What better reward in our retirement than the joy and comfort of our own dwelling. Happy Birthday to the lovely Janine.

  • I love the peacock blue color on the walls!
