J’ ai toujours connu ce coffret quand j’ étais jeune enfant avant la guerre . J’ aimais regarder les quelques photos qu’il contenait : des photos de la famille prises par d’ autres . Mon père eut son premier appareil photo en 1944, un Kodak à soufflet datant de 1913 . Puis , mes parents m’ offrirent un appareil neuf quand j’ obtins mon baccalauréat en 1952 . C’ était encore un Kodak a soufflet mais plus grand et plus perfectionné .Ce coffret contient donc les photos de 1944 jusqu ‘en 1956 date de la mort des parents . Je ne l’ ouvre pas souvent mais quand je le fais c’ est le souffle de la famille qui vient à moi et j’ éprouve en même temps un sentiment de tristesse et de douceur . Je viens de l’ ouvrir à l’ occasion de changement que nous faisons dans la maison .

I always knew this chest when I was a tender young child before the war . I liked watching the photos that were into it: some pictures of the family taken buy others . My father got his first camera in 1944 , a folding vest pocket Kodak from 1913 . Then , my parents offered me a brand new camera when I got my baccalaureat in 1952 ( final graduation of High school? ) . It was again a folding Kodak but larger and with more precision for the adjustments . So , this chest contents mostly the photos from 1944 until 1956 , year of the death of my two parents .I don’ t often open it but when I do it is have both a sad and sweet feeling. I have just opened it during the changes we make in the house .

Janine m ‘ a suggéré de prendre une photo de mes différents appareils photos. Ils ont permis de capter de précieux moments de notre histoire et ils ont leur propre beauté .
J ‘ ai pris cette photo avec un appareil numérique Canon . Là est la grande révolution : Plus de pellicule . On peut prendre d’ énormes quantités de photos et les transmettre à l’ autre bout du monde. Le coffret a été remplacé par de gros albums électroniques ou non . Le photographe est débarrassé des taches techniques et son art consiste à choisir son sujet et son angle de vue . I peut aussi améliorer ensuite avec l’ ordinateur . . Et pour tenir compte du nombre industriel de photos , l’ art est de savoir chosir la meilleure , la plus expressive pour la mettre dans ….le coffret au trésor ;
Voici , ci dessous, cette photo des quatre générations d’ appareils ::.
- à gauche le petit Kodak à soufflet de poche de 1913 aux réglages manuels très simples .
- puis 2ème en partant de la gauche , le Kodak à soufflet acheté en 1952 : modèle 40 , 3, 5 .Le réglage est toujours manuel mais avec une plus grande précision .
- le troisème est un appareil beaucoup plus récent acheté en 1969 /1970. C’ est un: Edixa prismaflex LTL . Le réglage est toujours manuel mais toutes les indications sont fournies par l ‘ appareil lui-même par un système « through the lens »
- le 4 ème , le dernier à droite est ce qui se faisait encore récemment dans les années 90 et même 2000 : un Olympus 120TC superzoom : rien à régler . Tout est réglé automatiquement .
Janine suggested to me to take a picture of my different cameras . They allowed to capture precious moments of our history and have their own beauty .
So , here is above this picture of 4 generations of cameras
- on the left the small folding Kodak from 1913 ( Vest pocket autographic Kodak ) . The adjustments are rudimentary .
- the the second from the left is the folding Kodak bought in 1952 : model 40, 3,5. The adjustments are manual yet but bring a higher precision ..
- the third is a camera much more recent bought in 1969/70 . This is an Edixa prismaflex LTL . The adjustment still is manual but all indications are given by the camera itself by a system “ through the lens “
- The 4th on the right is what was made quite recently ( 1990 : 2000 : an Olympus 120TC super zoom : nothing to adjust . All is adjusted automatically .
I took the picture of the collection of cameras above with a digital camera Canon . Here is the huge revolution . No more film ! We can take enormous quantity of pictures and send them to the end of the world. The chest has been replaced by big albums , electronic or not . The photographer get rid to the technical tasks and his art resides in the choice of the subject and the angle of view .Also , he may improve the picture with the computer. And to face the industrial quantity of photos the art is to choice the best ones ,the most expressive and treasure them…… in a virtual or real chest !
