My wife Janine had surgery yesterday

   Janine  a subi hier mercredi 24 Octobre  l ' ablation d  ‘un  nodule cancéreux de 9 mm de diamètre situé un peu plus profond dans le sein gauche qu 'il n ' y paraissait à l’ échographie .  Le chirurgien était content de son travail . Il a aussi enlevé une marge autour de ce nodule si bien qu 'il a dû creuser un peu et que c ' était assez douloureux hier soir .

   Il a enlevé aussi les ganglions lymphatiques de l ' aisselle gauche . Analysés immédiatement ils ne présentent pas de  cellules cancéreuses . Il sont normaux . Bonne nouvelle .  D’ autant qu’ échographie et radio ont montré qu’ elle avait le foie et les poumons intacts .
.
  Aujoud ‘ hui Janine se sent mieux mais la chirurgie à l’ aisselle est douloureuse et elle aura une rééducation à faire pour le bras gauche . Elle est contente parce que le chirurgien lui a dit ce soir qu’ elle sortait demain  Vendredi matin à 11h .

  On ne sait pas encore  quel sera le traitement se sécurité qui suivra . On espère que les rayons suffiront

   Janine had a surgery yesterday Wednesday October 24 . The surgeon removed a 9mm sized cancerous nodule located rather deeply into her left breast . The surgeon was happy of his work . He told me he cut larger than the nodule to be sure it remains nothing . So he dug more and it was rather painful when Janine awoke yesterday .

 The lymph nods at the left armpit have been also removed . An immediate analysis showed they didn’t have cancerous cells  . They are normal . This is a good news !  Besides ultrasound and X rays showed perfect liver and lungs .

  Today Thursday Janine feels better but the cut at the armpit hurts when she moves her left arm . A physical therapy will be necessary . She is happy because the surgeon told  her this night she leaves tomorrow morning  at 11h am .

 We still don’ t know what treatment for the security will be following  . We hope a X rays therapy  will be sufficient .

  You will understand I cannot reply on a regular basis to your comments this week and even not to reply at all  . I have to be with Janine to help and assist her at any time . Thank you ..

My paintings !

     Récemment tandis que nous débarrassions la maison pour faire place à quelques meubles provenant de mon défunt beau – père ( nous avons fait le déménagement hier avec 5 de nos enfants ) , ma femme Janine trouva dans notre grenier un dossier contenant des vieilles peintures que j’ avais faites quand j’ avais 14 ou 15 ans .
   Je n’ ai pas peint depuis ces années 1947 / 49 . J’aimais peindre ou dessiner et je le faisais sans modèle ni photo à copier mais en utilisant simplement ma mémoire visuelle des scènes qui m ‘ étaient familières . J’ avais reçu quelques leçons de mon instituteur qui n’ était pas un réel spécialiste et enseignait bien d’ autres matières . Ceci explique l’ aspect élémentaire de ces peintures et leur faiblesse . 
Cependant elles reflètent le mode de vie en France en 1947 , resté rural et simple . Par exemple il y avait peu de voitures et les travaux des champs se faisaient avec les chevaux. Elles reflètent aussi en partie les intérêts d’un jeune de 14 ans à cette époque.

    Je les présente ici comme des documents et non pour leur qualité artistique.

     Recently while we were decluttering the house to make place to some of my late father in law ‘ s furniture ( we moved them yesterday with 5 of our children ) , my wife Janine found out in our attic a file with old paintings I made when I was 14 /15 years old .
    I have not painted since those years 1947 / 49. I found pleasure to draw or paint and I made it without model or photo to copy . I used only my memory and viewed in my mind the familiar sceneries . I had attended some lessons taught by the teacher who was not a specialist of art and taught may other matters . This explains the elementary look of those paintings and their poorness. 
   However  they reflect France way of life in 1947, remained very rural and simple . For example there was no many cars and the works in the fields were made with horses . They reflect also a part of what was in the mind of a 14 years old at this time

    I show them like documents and not for the artistic quality .

Rêve d’Afrique.
Dream of Africa .

   Je ne sais pas pourquoi j’ ai toujours été attiré par l’ Afrique noire . Probablement est –ce dû  à des lectures d’ enfance puis aux études de géographie . J’ étais fasciné par ses zones de climat , tropical , équatorial et leur végétation et leur faune  , par ses fleuves , ses lace et ses montagnes , le mystérieux Sahara .Je crois que j’ étais aussi impressionné par la joie de vivre et une certaine sagesse africaine

  Malheureusement cette Afrique noire a a été durement frappée par l’ histoire ( esclavage par exemple  ) , sa civilisation méprisée trop longtemps et ses richesses exploitées sans parler des maladies endémiques qui sévissent là – bas ou de la faim . Au fait connaissez – vous des Xangans vivant en Afrique ?
  L’ Afrique reste pour moi un rêve . Je n’ y suis jamais allé,  excepté en Afrique du Nord mais c’ est différent ..

 Je n’irai jamais dans la véritable Afrique mais le rêve est quelquefois plus beau que la réalité .

 Cependant  je persiste à penser que nous avons beaucoup à apprendre de l’ Afrique et que dans le futur ce continent aura une importante place dans le monde .

Those tree photos , taken by me today , are gifts from a friend who went in Africa in 1990

   I don’ t know why I always have been attracted by Black Africa . Probably the causes are in the readings in my youth then in the studies in geography . I was fascinated by its areas of tropical and equatorial climates and their  vegetation and their fauna , by its rivers ,lakes , mountains and the mysterious desert Sahara . I believe I was also impressed by the joy of life and a particular African wisdom .

   Unfortunatly this Black Africa has been sadly struck by the history ( slavery for instance )  , its civilization despised during a long time and its wealth used without speaking of the endemic diseases that rage there and of  the hunger. By the way do you know Xangans living in Africa ? 

   Africa remains for me a dream . I never went excepted in North Africa but this is  different .

   I wont never go to the deep Africa but the dream is sometimes most beautiful than the reality .
 However I persist to  say we have much to learn from Africa and in the future  this continent will become more and more  important in the world

J’ ai toujours connu ce coffret quand j’ étais jeune enfant avant la guerre . J’ aimais regarder les quelques photos qu’il contenait : des photos de la famille prises par d’ autres . Mon père eut son premier appareil photo en 1944, un Kodak à soufflet datant de 1913 . Puis ,  mes parents m’ offrirent un appareil neuf quand j’ obtins mon baccalauréat en 1952 . C’ était encore un Kodak a soufflet mais plus grand et plus perfectionné .Ce coffret contient donc les photos de 1944 jusqu ‘en 1956 date de la mort des parents . Je ne l’ ouvre pas souvent mais quand je le fais c’ est le souffle de la famille qui vient à moi et j’ éprouve en même temps un sentiment de tristesse et de douceur . Je viens de l’ ouvrir à l’ occasion de changement que nous faisons dans la maison .

   I always knew this chest when I was a tender young child before the war . I liked watching the photos that were into it: some pictures of the family taken buy others . My father got his first camera in 1944 , a folding vest pocket Kodak from 1913 . Then , my parents offered me a brand new camera when I got my baccalaureat in 1952 (  final graduation of High school?  ) . It was  again a folding Kodak but larger and with more  precision for the adjustments . So , this chest contents  mostly the photos from 1944 until 1956 , year of the death of my two parents  .I don’ t often open it but when I do it is have both a sad and sweet feeling. I have just opened it during the changes we make in the house .
