   Le 11 Août dernier , c ‘ était la veille de l‘anniversaire d ‘un ami canadien . Il vit près de Toronto et parle Anglais.
C’est un vétéran de la 2^ème guerre mondiale que je connus en 1944 en France . J’ étais un enfant de 11 ans , intrépide et patriote . J’ ai déjà raconté cette histoire par le passé .
Il parlait anglais mais devait pouvoir dire quelques mots en Français à cette époque.

 

  Donc le 11 Août dernier je téléphonais d’ Amiens au Canada pour lui souhaiter un heureux 90^ème anniversaire. J ‘ eus de la chance car mon appel arriva en plein milieu de la fête d’ anniversaire !!!

 

  Un membre de sa famille l’ a photographié pendant la conversation téléphonique au moment où il levait son verre pour me porter un toast ….en Français :  «  A votre santé , Michel ! « 

 

  En fait je suis fortement sourd pour l’ anglais parlé et je le parle difficilement !! Je ne suis pas sûr que nous ayons compris tout ce que nous disions mais le cœur y était .

 

  Voici donc cette fameuse photo de vœux d’anniversaire envoyés par téléphone et …photographiés . N’ est – ce pas amusant , étonnant et touchant ?

  The last August 11 was the eve of a Canadian friend ‘ s birthday . He lives near Toronto and speaks English.
He is a vet. of  the War II that I knew in 1944 in France . I was a 11 year old child , intrepid and patriot. I already have related this story in the past on Xanga.
He spoke English but probably was able to say some words in French .

 

  So , on the 11^th of August I phoned from Amiens ( France ) to Canada to wish him a happy 90^th birthday . I have been lucky since my call was right in the middle of the birthday party !!!

 

  A family member took a picture of him while he talked to me in raising his glass for a toast . “ A votre santé , Michel “ he said …in French what it means  ­­­cheer  !

 

   In fact I am strongly deaf for the English spoken and I speak it with difficulties !! I am not sure we have understood the all of what we are saying but it was said with the heart .

 

  Here is above this famous photo of birthday wishes sent by phone and pictured ( then sent to me via Internet ). Is not this funny ,  stunning and moving ?

Une famille seule dans la montagne

   Ma belle – fille Marina m’ a envoyé récemment quelques photos de leurs vacances qu’ils ont prises après le 15 Août .
Parmi ces photos une me coupa le souffle et je vous la montre .

Mon fils Jean – Baptiste aime la nature sauvage et il conduit sa famille en des lieux tels les montagnes . Sa femme et ses enfants suivent vaillamment .

 

  La photo montre cette famille , se tenant solidement au somment d’une montagne , dans la brume et le froid . dans le paysage grandiose des  Pyrénées . .
On sent les forts liens qui unissent  parents et enfants . A vrai dire je ne trouve pas de mots pour exprimer tout ce que je ressens en regardant cette photo .
Tout ce que je peux dire c’ est qu’ elle m ‘ a fortement impressionné . C’ est pourquoi j’ ai pensé partager avec vous

  My daughter – in – law Marina sent to me recently some photos of their vacation taken after the 15^th of August .
Among those pictures , one of them took my breath and I show it to you .
My son Jean – Baptiste loves the wild nature and he takes his family to places such mountains . His wife and children follow him valiantly .

 

 The picture above shows this family standing up steadily at the top in a mountain , in the mist and the cold ,
surrounded by a grandiose Pyrenean landscape( Pyrenees are mountains between France and Spain ) .
We feel the strong links that tie parents and children together. But to be honest I don ‘ t find the words to express totally  what I feel in watching this photo .
I can only say this has strongly impressed me . It's why I share it with you .

  Many readers ask regularly news about Marina .  Remember she found out she had  a pleura cancer a year ago . She got two rows of chemo ( the second  in June ) .
She reacted well and  the tumor has been  diminishing regularly and Marina gains again weight and strength . This picture is the proof .
She will have a third row of chemo soon  . Hopefully the tumor disappears completely after that .

  Beaucoup de lecteurs demandent régulièrement des nouvelles de Marina . Il y  a un an on a découvert qu’ elle avait une cancer de la plèvre .
Elle a eu deux séries de chimio ( la deuxième en Juin ) . Elle a bien réagi et la tumeur a diminué régulièrement et Marina a repris du poids et des forces . Cette photo en est la preuve .
Elle doit subir une troisième chimio prochainement . Nous espérons qu’ après cela la tumeur aura disparu complètement .

Le 20 Juin 2007 nous quittions par bateau la ville fortifiée d ‘ Aigues mortes (Eaux Mortes) construite au XIII ème siècle par le Roi Louis IX connu en France comme saint Louis.
Nous étions sur un des nombreux canaux de la Camargue, zone marécageuse dans le delta du Rhône.

We left by boat on this  June 20, 2007 the fortified town of Aigues -Mortes ( Dead Water ) built at the XIII th century  by the King Louis IX known in France as Saint Louis . We were on one of numerous channels of this wetland called Camargue between the arms of the delta of the river Rhone flowing into the Mediterranean Sea.

Le bateau s ‘ arrêta un moment contre la berge du canal et le batelier sauta dehors en tenant un sac. Dans la pâture près du canal ne se trouvait, pas trop loin ,un troupeau de vaches.
Il appela les vaches mais une seule vint. Elle avait une cloche accrochée au cou. Aucune autre vache n’ est venue . Une voix féminine dans le haut - parleur nous apprit que cette vache s ‘ appelait Rose .
L ‘ homme avait apporté des carottes et Rose se régala avec. Un taureau a été toléré. Il était timide . Regardez l ' attitude de Rose . Toutefois  Rose le laissa manger quelques carottes mais pas trop longtemps.
Puis le taureau s’ en retourna au troupeau. La Reine Rose resta seule à manger les carottes !.

  Etait – ce un comportement naturel ?  Ou un piège à touristes ? En effet tous les touristes dont nous- mêmes riaient dans le bateau !

  Mais avec un œil scientifique je crois qu’on peut voir là un bon exemple de dominance dans le comportement animal. Les gestes et postures sur les photos sont significatifs.
Cela conduit à de nombreuses questions sue le déterminisme et les conséquences favorables sur l’élevage du bétail, en semi liberté.

 

Addendum : Saviez – vous que la ville de Saint Louis aux USA ( Missouri ) fondée en 1764 par des Français a reçu ce nom en mémoire du roi Saint Louis , mort en 1270 , 5 siècles avant.
Ce roi était très aimé en France .

 

 

The boat stopped a moment near the bank of the channel and le waterman jumped out holding a bag.
A herd of cows was not too far in a pasture at the side of the channel. He called the cows but only one came..
There was a bell hung at its neck. No other cow came. A feminine voice by the speaker told us this cow was named Rose. The man had brought carrots in his bag and Rose enjoyed them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                             



   

 

 

  A bull was tolerated. It was shy . Look at the gesture of Rose . However Rose let it eat some carrots but for a short time.

  Then the bull went back to the herd. The Queen Rose remained the only one to eat the carrots !

  Is this weird behaviour natural ? Or a tourist trapping ? Indeed all of the tourists and among them, us, were laughing in the boat!

  But with a scientist eye, I believe we can see here a good example of the dominance in the animal behaviour. The gestures on the pictures are significant. This leads to many questions about the how and the favourable consequences for the prosperity of cattle breeding , in half free mode .

 

  Addendum: Do you know the town of Saint Louis in the US (Missouri) which has been founded in 1764 by Frenchmen received this name in the memory of this French King Saint Louis  (dead in 1270, 5 centuries before) . Les amusantes attitudes d’un chef de chœur

  On m ‘ a demandé le 28 Juillet dernier de diriger un chœur pour un mariage. Pendant la répétition une choriste malicieuse prit plusieurs photos de moi .
J’ ai ri en voyant ces photos . j’ ai aussi été surpris par les changements rapides de physionomie et d’ attitudes qu’on peut avoir quand on conduit un chœur .
Elles traduisent bien les variations de l’ état d’ esprit et l ' émotion.

  I was asked to conduct a choir for a wedding last July 28. During the rehearsal a mischievous singer took some photos of me .
I  laughed at watching those photos . I have been surprised by the quick changes in the physiognomy and attitudes that we have when we conduct a choir .
They express well the variations of the state of mind and the emotion .

   Finalement nous avons bien chanté et nous avons senti la joie de chanter ensemble et d’ avoir communiquer ce plaisir aux mariés et aux invités .

   Finally we sang well and we felt the joy of singing all  together and giving pleasure to the new married and their guests .
     A good time of life to remember .
