Reprenant son souffle ,
l’ humble travailleur de la terre
regarde sa récompense
étalée à ses pieds :
Une belle récolte de pommes de terre !
Dur travail pour avoir cela !
Ne vous semble – t -il pas un peu trop fier de cela ?
Rêve - il du son victorieux du cor ?
Non il n’ est pas vraiment fier ,
Il est heureux
Heureux comme un roi ,
dans une sorte de bonheur ineffable .
mais éphémère ,
ll aura à recommencer ,
année après année .
Leçon de vie !

the humble worker of the land
looks at his reward

A beautiful crop of potatoes !
Hard work to get this !
Doesn’ t he look a wee bit too proud of this ?
Is he dreaming of the victorious sound of the horn ?
No , he is not really proud ,
he is happy ,
happy like a King

in a inexpressible happiness
but for a short time long.
He will have to begin again ,

year after year ..
