  • Julie a 20 ans . Julie is 20 .

    Julie a 20 ans .
    Julie is 20 .

                               English version below the pictures

On this month of May 2007 , my oldest grand daughter Julie  hit 20 .
This remember me , 5 years ago I blogged about her under the title of “ metamorphosis “ : she had just had  15..
So,  Xanga looks like a tool of measure of the flowing time .

The days and the nights ,  the months , the seasons give to us an idea of rhythm of time
but the idea of duration comes in seeing our children and grandchildren growing up .
This  is not an “exceptional thought ” but this is what Janine and I are living .
Julie‘s mother is Carole , our oldest child who is 45 years old . So life is going on .

I am going to slow down on Xanga because I have so many things to do at this moment

  • what a beautiful woman she has become... amazing, is it not?

  • she is a beautiful girl...you should be proud   Have a great summer, mon ami!

  • Julie is beautiful.  Julie est tres jolie....!

Yes, time is going by too rapidly.  I can hardly keep up.  I'm cutting down on Xanga also.  Trying not to write so many entries.  It's hard to keep up with people.  I don't know how you do it since you have so very many commenters.!  I can barely keep up with the few that I have.

Our great grandson is celebrating his very first birthday!

  • She has blossomed beautifully!! All your family and you are of the loveliest blossoms!!

  • What beautiful grandchildren. In the blink of an eye they grow. It seems all to fast for me, but what a treat to be able to be a part of seeing them become all that they can be. God 'bess them and keep them safe.

  • Ah, Michel, 20 is so much different than 15...one's wants and needs shift to adulthood...with the love and guidance your family provides her, she will not walk through life alone...you are blessed...please don't stay away for long, I will miss you!  *hugs*  Luv from Dallas, Lowie

  • She is beautiful! And your daughter picked the same name as I did for my own daughter.
I understand the slowing down on Xanga. I had to also. As one of my xanga friends says "Life is so full". We'll catch each other's blogs every now and then. Hope you are happily digging and planting in your garden and enjoying life.

  • She is lovely!

I hope you enjoy your summer. And thank you for all the kind comments.

  • The passage of time becomes faster as the years advance

  • Oh how lovely!  She has blossomed into a beautiful young woman.

  • Your granddaughter sure has grown!  I'm the same age as your oldest daughter.  I love seeing the pictures of your family because it helps me see where I get my dark eyes, dark hair, and olive complexion.  I think it's from my Mom's side, who came to American from France.  When I saw that pictures of your daughter-in-law who is struggling with cancer...she reminded me so much of my Mom when she was younger.  (I hope your DIL continues to improve.)  I bet you have work to do in your garden.    Right?

  • She's beautiful! Happy birthday, Julie!

  • What a sweet and pretty grand daughter you have.  I am so glad that you are close enough to see your family and share their milestones with them.  I love the tile work on the fireplace that she is sitting in front of....such beautiful detailing.

I understand about busy.  We are trying to finish up our school year and the girls and I are heading back to Florida for a two and a half week visit.  I have not seen my family in a year and a half.  I miss them and I think that now is a great time for a little vacation for us three girls.

I pray that your busy time will be a time of blessing for you and that you pace yourself so that you can come back and tell us of all of your wonderful adventures.

Take care and share our love with all of your dear family.

    Karen

  • amazing how fast kids grow. She looks like a wonderful person.

take the time for you and those you love.

  • You have a beautiful grand daughter! Happy Birthday to her.

I understand getting busy, it's that time of year for everyone. Hope you get a lot done this summer and have many enjoyable days. (hug) Ang

  • Yes Sunday as I saw my children, grandchildren(now grown) and their children, I saw the flow of time. Judi

  • Happy birthday Julie.

  • It's strange how we don't think of our children and grandchildren growing older. I still find it hard to believe that Julie is turned 50 and Paul will be 50 in July ! Where did the years go ????? Your Julie is very pretty and I think she is like Janine. I guess that the garden will be taking up your time now, if it's like mine everything is growing apace.  Enjoy your days " working " growing your own food. Marie

  • Ooooh! I like the purple that was in her hair. Very cool. That same year I had purple hair, I think.

  • Ah - 15 to 20 in the blink of an eye - this is truly one of the amazing wonders of life!  I remember being 15 and thinking that 20 would never happen - now I'm 40 and that happened much faster than I thought.

  • I was just looking through my old xanga entries today...amazing how time passes.  Blessings to you as you take a break!

    <3,

    Aubrey

  • Happy Birthday to Julie!

Take care of yourself Michel.....we'll be here when you come back!

    God bless you and Janine(((HUGS)))

  • Happy Birthday to Julie.  Enjoy your break from Xanga.  Hugs.

  • Your granddaughter is beautiful. Time does march on, but sometimes it feels like it is running instead, of marching.

  • What a great name she has I love the happiness in her face and she has grown into a beautiful young lady.

Enjoy your garden but hurry back to us soon

  • How they grow.    You will be missed during your break from xanga but I certainly understand.

  • Julie is absolutely beautiful and I am sure she is also brilliant in the mind.
Oh my you have a 20 year old GRAND daughter... you and Janine must had had your children like me, when we were 12 years old. Michel you are too young to have a 20 year old grandchild!!

I have also been slowing down with xanga. Many things to do and computer time makes me stiff. I need to move more and sitting at the computer is not good for the health.

Love to you and Janine and your beautiful family!!
    Rosemary

(Elizabeth and I are home now, Yay, life is great!)

  • So nice of you to come and 'visit'  me..* and oh..isn't this precious..how time passes and then we look back..and so much life has passed ...she is such a beautiful young lady...and she looks happy too*:) Happy 'early' Birthday to her * in case you are not here..I hope you get everything done that you need to..take it one by one..* be well...take good care ...enjoy your family  and take time to 'smell the roses'...while you are busy**Lee

  • Julie is a beautiful girl. Wow! You are very blessed with children and grandchildren and more.

Hoping you'll find time to post now and again.

  • Julie is a very pretty young lady who reminds me of you, her smile so much like yours I think.  It's garden time so I assume you will be out doors every day possible, planting and tending your garden.  Shirley

  • She is a beautiful young woman and looks very happy. All good things. Take care Michel.

  • Happy Birthday to Julie, she is indeed a beautiful girl!! Time does fly :) what i like is that your daughter Carole got to see Julie grow and evolve into this beautiful girl as she aged gracefully. My nephews have grown so tall now why i remembered it was not so long ago when i was cradling them in my arms while babysitting them. Enjoy your break from Xanga Michel.

  • Joyeuse anniversaire, Julie! A lovely girl with a lovely name. :)

Don't stay away too long -- we'll miss you!

  • The two photos side by side certainly show the passage of time, but in a good way. What confidence is shining from Julie's smile at 20!

I can understand being busy and slowing down on xanga, being that way myself ;) Although I still hope you don't stay away too long :)

    cheers
    Caroline

  • You can certainly see Julie is an older young lady now! She has matured into a woman. A very happy 20th birthday to your lovely granddaughter, Michel.

I know what you mean about having lots to do, and not much time for Xanga.

  • ah, elle resemble beaucoup a ma copine virginie !

  • Bon anniversaire to julie!!

  • Bonjour,

    *steph x

  • xanga catches moments in time, like soap bubble images that lasts longer because it doesn't go 'poof'. Thank you for sharing your granddaughter with us. :)

  • How quickly our children and grandchildren grow up.  I realized that our children are a similar age.  My daughter Beth just had her 40th birthday.  She is my youngest child.  Sarah will be 42 years old next month, and Jane will be 44 in December.  However, my oldest grandchild is not as old as Julie.  Laura (sarah's oldest) will be 14 years old next month.  My youngest grandchild Grace is 5 years old.  In between are Grant almost 12 years old, Becca age 10, Nathan age 9, and Megan age 8.  Becca (nickname for Rebecca) and Megan are Jane's daughters.  The other grandchildren are Sarah's children.  Beth does not have any children.

    As ever, Carol Suzanne

  • Charming, simply charming ---what a proud grandfather you must be    Ron

  • Another really lovely member of your family.  The photos do tell the story, no doubt about that.  Xanga is a diary for a lot of us.

I am slowing for the minute also.  Not much happening here worth talking about.

Be well and enjoy whatever it is you do.

  • It looks like she has really blossomed over the past five years.  Kids just change and grow too fast!

  • happy brithday to her!

  • I am walking a parallel road with you.  You're so blessed to still have your wife.  My oldest son will be 46 this weekend and his daughter, my oldest grandchild, will be 20 this month.  Enjoy your break.

  • You have a very beautiful family.  I hope your daughter-in-law continues to improve and is healed of her disease.  Blessings abound

  • Julie is a very beautiful young woman.

Good luck with all that you have going on.

    Love,

    Your Friend Yvonne

  • My Magan turned 26 this month. Magan is my daughter's oldest child.

  • Joyeux anniversaire à elle! Elle est très jolie.

  • We shall miss you, come back soon and take care.

  • So many changes.  I will miss you, but if I feel the need, I will send a letter off to you.  Missing you already. - Rachel

  • You seem to tend so many "gardens" the most meaningful would seem to be your family... thank you for sharing their beauty.

  • She has a very warm look and she is beautiful.
What a wonderful age to be.
Xanga took the place of the season to follow time.
    Time passes.
Have a great time with your activities and don't worry about us (readers).

    Amitiés

    Carlo

  • Yes, the seasons come and go, and we grow too (whether it's growing up or growing old). Julie has blossomed beautifully.

  • She is very pretty. You have a beautiful family!!

  • Happy Birthday to your Grandaughter...time rushes along...lots to fit in, so keep coming back to Xanga when you can

  • I read your last that Marina is better.  That is wonderful news.!  I commented on this already but came back to respond to your comment on my latest entry...I found the link to the lock you gave is absolutely fascinating.  I have never seen a clock like that.

I had written all about clocks just about a week ago(where we bought our new clock) If you have time, check it out here: http://www.xanga.com/josaju/589390600/inside-the-clockmakers-shop.html   Too bad you're not closer.  Maybe you could fix that old clock.  However, it needs a whole new something or other.  I guess they don't make the motor for that clock anymore so it would involve quite a bit to fix it up.  It's not nearly as unique as the one you posted.

    votre amie,

    Francoise

  • Thank you for your kind remarks.  I have all the hope in the world for an improved life for Joseph and the girls and me.  It will take continued efforts, but it is worth it all.  God is faithful when we come to Him and seek His directions and help.

    Love to the family,

    Karen

  • I added captions for you. I did it just for you. I hope you enjoy.

  • "The idea of duration comes in seeing our  children and our  grandchidren growing up" I belive that IS an exceptional thought. And I needed a reminder in that today. I'm afraid that the deep-down Patricia sometimes gets lost in the role of mother and wife, so, you words are encouraging. Thank-you.

  • Pink hair was not quite what I wanted. I went to the store got a nice brown and put it on. I do not usually dye my hair just put some streaks in the front but not pink. lol. I went to the orientation today it was eight hours. They also did drug screens. What a hassle to get a job. But guess I am with the right agency they really care about the older people. So they are very careful who they hire. Judi

  • Happy Birthday Julie!

What a beautful young woman!  I know that you all must be so very proud of your children and grandchildren.  Is the student hat a part of the uniform Julie must wear for university?

Is it not amazing to see the changes our children...grandchildren...even ourselves make.  Do we not all go through a metamorphosis in our lives?  Our look and shape may change on the outside as the years go by but hopefully there has been a greater change within ourselves too.

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes!  I am enjoying being 40!  :O)

I hope that whatever it is that takes you away from xanga is something that brings you much joy!  :O)  We will miss you and will look forward to hearing from you when you can!

    Love to you all!

    xoxo Cat

  • She is so beautiful  indeed.

You have good reason to be proud.

How is your daughter in law doing??????

  • Oh how nice to see you* and how sweet of you to leave such a nice note to me.thank you* I see what a kind and loving person you are as well...I hope you are getting done what you need to and relaxing too** take care..have a wonderful day..hugs..Lee

  • ps..glad you liked the bluebird and of course the strawberrries! :)

  • Your grand daughter is a very beautiful woman. And you must be so proud of her. Yes it does show us the passage of time having kids and grandkids. To me it is so great to see a part of me going on. Don't stay away to long but do what you have to do. Take care.

  • Lately, I've also been able to use Xanga to measure my life. Julie is beautiful at any age.

  • Joyeux Anniversaire to the beautiful Julie!  She shares her given name with a mutual dear friend of ours, doesn't she?

I'm looking forward to seeing you back once you attend to your business.

  • Dearest Michel,

Thank you so much for your comment!  You are so sweet!  :O)

Breaks - whatever they may be - are a great time to reflect, take note and to read up on things we normally would not find time to do.  It is nice sometimes to just do that on occasion and not feel like you must post a blog or respond to comments.  :O)  I think we adore you and your posts - they mean so much to so many of us that you would be greatly missed!

Love you dearly...La Belle of Louisville!  :O)

    xoxo Cat

  • Hello Michel
We are leaving for Williamsburg, Virginia to go to Christina's graduation from college.
We will leave very early tomorrow morning and return home on Monday.
Christina is graduating from The College of William and Mary.

    I hope you have a wonderful week-end!!
    Rosemary

  • What a beauty!  And I just happen to have an unmarried 23 yr. old grandson!  He is the son of our oldest son, age 46!  Lots of things in common.

Enjoy your "vacation" from Xanga.  I have cut back a lot, too.  I need to spend more time outside or on other projects, rather than sitting here with my computer on my lap!

  • Happy birthday to Julie! She is a lovely young lady.

  • Happy Birthday to Julie. She has become a lovely young woman. I am sure you are very proud.

Enjoy your garden and your time away.

    Blessings
    Melody

    Hugs, Annika

  • Lovely girl, Michel. She is beautiful. I know what you mean.... my daughter turned 25 this past Friday and it just doesn't seem possible. Soon she will be married.... and then..... well, i'll try to enjoy each new adventure as we get to it!  :)   Have a good one.  Blessings, kc

  • As they say first things first. How does your garden grow. Is the weather good. Judi

  • I am glad your fine.   I am also glad your Daughter in Law is doing a little bit better.

Hugs to her this week while going through chemotherapy.

Were you asking me where I live?   Well I live in Florida near Alabama.

Yes those quizzes definitely have me pegged quite well.

  • Hello, I hope this is the right place, I am looking for Michael. Please forgive this intrusion into your Blog, but as we have a mutual friend (Becca.) I thought I could get away with it. This young lady is indeed a work of art all on her own. Hope she has a great Birthday.

    Nice to drop in,

    Tim.

  • My apologies in my last comment I referred to Michael, should have been Michel.

    Tim

  • i hope she had a lovely birthday ;)
    time does fly, doesn't it?!

    enjoy your garden labours :)
    xo

  • Actually I started my new work on Saturday. It was very pleasant. Judi

  • Marina has been on my heart so much the past two days or so. Please let her know that sisters and brothers around the world are lifting her to our Jesus and asking Him to heal her.

May the Lord bless you and your entire family during this difficult season.

    With love and prayers,
    Julie

  • bonne fête julie!

  • This is such a pleasure in life to see our children grow.......I look forward to the time when Grandchildren can also be in our lives.

  • Julie is very beautiful! I am doing very well, and am in love!!!!!!!
    Laurie

  • Bon Jour!  I have really missed reading your blog! Hope you will pop in from time to time and share pictures of all the fun things that you and Janine are doing! My best wishes to you both! We are all doing great here. The critters are enjoying the summer weather!

  • Salut!

  • Yes, the years accelerate as we grow older! Was her birthday the same as  mine..15 May?

  • RYC: It's funny because I hardly ever use my mobile phone, to call people! I really only use it as a camera. The market in the meadow you mentioned was actually in the primary school grounds - the playground. Most of the markets here are held in school grounds on Sundays.

  • Just here to say hello my friend Michael.

  • amazing how time flies. i agree that xanga is a way to measure time as it keeps the threads that are ephemeral alive.

your kids and grandkids are all beautiful!

  • Hi, Michel. Thank you for stopping in. -Audrey

  • ryc: Si tu as enseigné quelqu'un tu as atteint un objectif. Did I write that correctly?

  • Time feels like it goes faster as we get older, right ? Congratualtions to her.. and a Happy Birthday.

    Yvette

  • Salut Michel!

    Anne

  • Isn't it amazing to see the "babies" grow to be such beautiful young people! I hope Julie has a wonderful life, and that she enjoyed her birthday very much!
ryc michel--I would be devastated with guilt if I believed that my remarks about the silly "30-second rule" would cause you to eat your meals off the floor!
Of course, I know you're joking, and I'm SURE Janine would not bop you with a frying pan, although it is a mental picture that assailed my mind when I read your comment!
When you post pictures next time, I will be checking with a magnifying glass to see if there are any lumps on your head, just in case!
(Thanks so much for the good joke!)
    Joy

  • Thanks for your comments, I havent been sailing on the boat just bobbing in the harbour...it is winter here and not really sailing weather so perhaps in the summer.

Yes you are right the 3rd is Elliot and his is going to live in Paris very soon. He has a French Visa and is going to find work....I hope it works out for him as he wants to improve his French and have a different experience.

I am very sorry to read about your daughter in law and the lung cancer. I wish her all the best and good health soon. It must be so difficult for your son and their children.

    All the best
    Yvonne

  • Lucy died on Monday. I was really sad. But at least she is not hurting anymore. I will be going to work full time on Saturday. Judi

  • Twenty years old.. my oh my... She is a beautiful young lady.

Michel, thanks for stopping by my site. I have you and your family in my prayers at this time. Illnesses can be overwhelming, at times. I am going to pray for health and for comfort for those who are ill and for those who love those who are ill.

Today is Friday. Have a relaxing weekend.

It is ok to slow down on Xanga when you are busy.

    I'm thinking of you.

    Christy

  • She is lovely and you have much to be proud of as the grand papa. I often wonder where time goes.

We all hope you won't stay away too long. Sometimes juggling too many balls in the air can smack you in the head with one or another.

I am coming back with my site and hope to have pictures up soon. I just bought a digital camera and have to learn how to use it and put pictures on the computer. My son has agreed to help show me how. So maybe soon you can see what's going on in Nashville.

Take Care Michel, Love to you and yours,

    Brenda

  • Just saying hello.  It is Memorial Day weekend here and our aim is supposed to be respectfully thinking of those in our armed forces past and present.  We have good weather for parades in our area.

    Have a nice weekend.

    Ciao.

  • Thank you(merci) for your comments.  Yes, I am so glad that Val is home and on the road to recovery.  As you know too well, things can happen so unexpectedly.

I agree that brave people who fight to protect their country and their values of freedom, liberty and fraternity....are to be remembered and honored.

    votre amie,

    Francoise.

  • Dear Michel...missing you!  Hope your weekend was peaceful, and that the things you have to tend to don't pile up too much!  You must have already sproutlings from your vegetable seeds in the garden, yes?  Love you, Miss Lowie

  • Isn't this wonderful, Michel?  You have announced you will be slow for this posting and your comments continue.  This is such a beautiful blessing.  "Beautiful" because it is obvious, but of course, all blessing is beautiful.  Julie is a darling looking young lady and, indeed, we can "see" time and what it does, through our children and their children.   Blessings, dear man.

    GraceAnn

  • Your granddaughter is very lovely! I always enjoy your blogs about your family. It's nice to see how proud of them you are and how much you enjoy them.

Both of my children and two of my grandchildren have birthdays in May, which makes May a very busy month for us!

  • Happy belated birthday, Julie. I love looking back over my old blogs to see how my kids have grown. To see how my friends and I change so much and not at all. Enjoy your abundant life and we will be here when you get back.

  • soo lovely! time does fly, michel. why do they wear students' hats? happy birthday to julie!!! where does she live?  you're going to slow down on xanga, huh? you're so busy and i'm so impressed!!! ok, i need to update my blog too! loveangela

  • I like the lumaire word. Thanks.

    Amitiés

    Simonville

  • It seems that we both decided to slow down on Xanga at the same time, my friend!

  • Les enfants grandissent si vite... TROP vite!
