    Pâques familiales .
    Familial Easter

English version below the pictures  .

J anine and I were at church in the morning then the children and their families came for the meal around 1h  p.m. .
It always is very  comforting to have our children gathered around us even if some traditions seem to change at first sight and  for the   moment  .
Lets us catch a glimpse of the dining room during the meal . The grandchildren already have eaten and are playing outside under the sun .
Janine still made prodigious dishes and had selected old wines . . The ambiance was joyful and warm .

In the afternoon four of our children played cards . This is rather traditional .
However I have noticed that the girls were very busy with cards while the boys looked wisely at the camera . Does this mean something ?
You can think what you want  but I wouldn’ t !

                                                 _______________________________________

Afterwards it was the generalized soccer in the lawn mixing adults and children .
They were really excited by the game . Go the Blue !  ( blue is the colour of French teams in sports ) . It was funny to see .
I have no place this time to show the other games and the egg hunting .

  • Once again an entry that brings smiles. Janine looks no older than her children! It looks like you had a wonderful Easter, Michel. Thank you for sharing it with us. Christine

  • That looks very much how my Easter was too!  Family and friends.  But it was very cold here.  It's usually much warmer.  We had to bundle up in warm coats to go outside to celebrate the tradition of easter egg hunting!

    <3,

    Aubrey

  • The perfect Easter. What a beautiful day in every possible way. All the best to you... as always...

  • You have such a beautiful family--and Janine is the queen.

  • Lovely Easter Michel.....and family- making strong heart connections even stronger is what the holidays offer us.  What a wonderful family time.  I am smiling at the family football game, when we were kids at our grandparents we would get all the uncles and the kids and play football but north american football.  There were enough kids and uncles to make two very substantial teams. -g

  • Looks like a wonderful day for your lovely family.

I love it when you share your family pictures. We are all one family in Christ and I get to see some of my French brothers and sisters!

  • Very nice. I need to come up with my own family tradition...when I have a family of my own :D

  • Easter is indeed a fine time for family get-togethers.

  • wonderful!!! your family pictures make me smile!

    Peace, Michel

  • Beautiful - as usual. You have such a lovely family. This was our first Easter as Grandparents.

  • That must be your son sitting next to Janine in the top picture!  He looks just like you! The lady sitting across from Janine looks like her, must be your daughter!?

You have a wonderful family and it looks like your Easter was great!

  • So warm and friendly...

I just love the little pear tree!

My family is scattered across the country right now, so we could not get together..Hopefully, we can be under one roof sometime in June or July. It will be a celebration, for sure!

  • It seems that you had a wonderful day to celebrate the resurrection of our Saviour!!!  While it was cold here in Kentucky, we had a wonderful day as well.  My father came for dinner and we had a very relaxing time.  It was also a pleasure to share this day at church with our "other family".

I love the garden pictures and am glad that your tree has bloomed.  The dogwoods are blooming all over our property and are quite lovely.  I am thinking of adding a crab apple tree and an ornamental cherry tree this year.  I love flowering trees.  I am very excited that this year I will be able to start with a little landscaping.  I know that I can't do all I desire...that will have to come slowly, but that is part of the fun.  Something to look forward to.  It also gives a person a feeling of permanancy.  When you plan for the future I think it gives you roots.

    Have a great week.

    Karen

  • Beuatiful family, beautiful day.

  • Thanxs for sharing Michel! Alwayz a delight n' so heart-warming to see your family gatherings!

You inspire me everytime you show the stunted pear tree~I'm reminded of the importance of perseverance and patience in the pursuit of any goal!

As for your question: I do plan for family/children in my future...just not within the next few years..cuz therez no one in sight!

  • Quelle journee jolie! Ici? Neige. J'en ai marre!

    Amite!

  • I always enjoy seeing photos of your family, home and garden. They are all so lovely.

  • Michel! It looks like you had a wonderful time with your family.

The garden is looking wonderful Just when I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel we got more snow... So now I am playing the waiting game again hoping it goes away soon so that I can get the garden and the window boxes ready. lol

    Be safe. Ang

  • love the blog, Michel~!  the photos of your family are wonderful.  I love the garden shots, too.  whose job is it to trim that huge hedge?

what card game does your family play?  perhaps the girls are busy winning and the guys are hams for the camera?  lol

I hope you have time to share the rest of your photos.  it looks like you had a wonderful Easter.

    ~janny

  • Gorgeous!

What I love is how close your family seems. I have a small family who most often can't get along long enough for dinner much less cards and soccer! So jealous (but very happy for) you guys!

  • :O)  I love when you share photos of your family!  I see that I am not the only one who enjoys being a small part of your life and your willingness to share it with all of us - your xanga family - is such a joy to witness.

What did Janine make for the family meal?  I see a few things there...le vin rouge, le pain, les pickles?  Ou est cette moutarde?  Traditionally, we make ham but this year I made a simpler meal...Cotelettes de Porc a la Moutarde et Le Gratin des Gratins! What a huge difference in making the gratin with real and unpasteurized milk and butter - a taste and flavor that is very much missing over here in the US!

We did not take pictures this year.  We were so busy with the children being in a play at church along with making items to pass out that symbolizes Easter and a scripture verse that went along with the items (nails, hand-made cross, sponge, cloth, rock, etc.).  It has been a busy few weeks and Easter Sunday came and went far too fast.

I am so very glad to hear your pear tree is blooming!  Do you have another pear tree close by?  I lost one of my pear trees and found another to replace it so that they will hopefully produce some pears this year.  If not, I will patiently wait for them to get better established but I can't help but dream about the beautiful fruit they will produce!  We also planted a plum tree (European variety and needs a partner as well that I will plant this fall) and a fig!  I loooove figs!  Our crab apples are loaded with blooms as is our cherry tree...

...you have shown such amazing patience and love for your 21 year old pear tree!  :O)  It is amazing that you and Janinie have been in that home for that length of time.  That tree is very much like us in that sometimes it takes some of us longer to become firmly rooted and established before we ever begin to really bloom not to mention start producing fruit!  You have shown a true gardener's patience as I think God must have to do for us!  I hope this tree produces delicious and sweet pears for you all to enjoy at the end of the summer!

My love to you, Janine and your beautiful family!

    xoxo Cat

  • Hello sure hope you had a wonderful ((((EASTER))) God Bless!!

  • Great photos Michel. The second one brought back happy memories of  preprandial drinks sitting in the sun! My family will all be together soon for the wedding - I'm really looking forward to seeing them. Marie

  • Great family picutres - I love em.   RYC:  Really France admires Churchill   Thanks for the prespective.

  • Family time together is always a very special time.  You enjoyed a lovely Easter with good food, games, activities and wonderful company.  Looks so warm there for the day.  Our Easter here was bitter cold with strong winds.  Warmer today but not warm enough only in the 60's.  Anything below 70 is cold to me.  Shirley

Maybe later you can add the Easter egg hunt picture's

  • As Mum says the photos bring back great memories of your wonderful house and garden. It must be great to have all the family around at Easter and we had such wondeful weather. Just hope the weather is good in 18 days time

  • PS It good that the Queen has been to commerate the battle at Vimy Ridge, I watch a tv programme about the battle the other night, sad at such loss of life

  • I think girls take playing cards more seriously than boys. Happy Easter.

  • I've said it before, but I have to say it again, you have a lovely family! And a lovely home as well!

  • Wonderful pictures, Michel!!! May I say how beautiful your home and it's decor is! What a loving, close family you have. You most certainly are a very blessed man. I love seeing your family together, and what fun you have!

Well it seems the stunted tree is a very determined little thing! It's looking very pretty with all those blooms and will no doubt live for many, many years to come.

RYC: Yes Vegemite is mainly a yeast extract based food. the taste is quite strong, so I really feel unless people are brought up with this, as most of us Australians have been, then it would be difficult to "learn to like it".

  • Such a joy to see your pictures and enjoy your lovely family.  Thank you for sharing.  I'm glad you could have family there for a wonderful Easter day.   Hugs and smiles for you and Janine.     Char

  • What a beautiful family!

  • what amazing photos of your family. You sure have been blessed.

  • Michel, so many of your posts bring a smile to my face. The warmth of your family togetherness just shines through. :) It sounds like a lovely Easter.

    Caroline

  • It is wonderful that you had such beautiful weather for Easter, Michel.
    Here it was very cold!!
What a happy and very active day you had.
    You have a beautiful family.
Thank you for sharing these lovely pictures. I enjoyed them very very much

    Happy Spring.

  • Dear Michel, the sun was strong on Easter there?  It's been cold in Dallas, but today the sun broke through...the air smelled sweet!  Your boys are very handsome, perhaps they are posing for the cameras because they know how good they will look!  Someone needed to take a picture of you, dear friend!  I count 4 bottles of wine on the table, they all look red, and 2 bottles of sparkling water, too?  Very nice, it reminds me of my mother's table...tomorrow, I will post a picture of our dessert...night-night...oh, you are already sleeping

  • I enjoyed sharing your Easter.  How beautiful it is to be surrounded by family and what a good looking and healthy looking family ....

Janine looks so very young.  What did you have to eat?

Spring seems to be in full dress with the pear tree in blossom.  Is the cherry tree a sour cherry or sweet cherry.

    votre amie,

    Francoise.

  • It looks like a dream. We had nice weathear and that is already something.

The people at the table is full of love.

Beautiful blog full of love too. The floweres, the garden, the trees, the children.

  • Hi Michel,    Yes I knew that you knew Kel, Sal and Henry- I read your gentle comments on her site and came to meet you here.  -g

  • Your family table is almost beyond full. Full of family, friends, and love.

  • Thank you for sharing your Easter joys with us--I can see the tradional Easter pleasures are still the best  Ron

  • Michel! ryc: I am at the top of the US... I'm in Northern Michigan... the state that looks like a giant mitten, I'm at the top of it, surronded by water. I love it, but this year we have been getting snow in the spring, by the time the robins come back normally it is all gone... but I don't really know what normal is anymore. lol

Glad things are going well in your part of the world. Ang

  • what a lovely family and celebration ;)
it looks so warm there already...!
here we had snow on easter weekend...april!
it looks like you and your family had a wonderful easter
    xo

  • I enjoyed viewing your family pictures. It is always such a special time when family members can be together.

  • Quelles belles photos!

  • A lovely time had by all from the appearance.

Has the pear tree ever given pears?

  • Thank you so much for sharing your Easter festivities! It's fun to feel as if we are there with you, part of your family! When you mentioned that the children ate first (at "First Table" we used to say), I had to smile. My father used to pretend to complain about this. He said that when he was young, children had to wait til "Second Table" to eat. All the grownups got to eat first. He could hardly wait to grow up, so he could eat first, like the grownups did. But when he grew up, the custom had changed--the children got to eat first, so he was back to "Second Table" again. Poor fellow!
The little pear tree shows us the Hope that comes from the cross, doesn't it. I'll bet its offspring will be very vigorous--but I hope they don't wait so many years before they begin bearing fruit! Not everyone will have the patience of a Fauquet to wait for them!
Is the warm weather going to last awhile, now? Is it time to plant those seeds you bought earlier? I hope so.
    Joy

  • What a wonderful family get-together, Michel!  And such a beautiful family.  It looks like they all thoroughly enjoyed the holiday with you and Janine!  Wonderful memories for all, I am sure.

  • What a wonderful family holiday. You have a lovely family.  I t was far too cold here this year to have an outdoor egg hunt.  I am glad you had such nice weather.

    As ever, Carol Suzanne

  • RYC:  That's interesting about Churchill. -  thanks

  • Thanks Michel! I went and said Hello! She lives a couple of hours drive below me... It was very nice to see someone else from Michigan on Xanga!

    Thanks for the link.

Hope your having fun and enjoying life... Somehow I know you are! lol ang

  • You're right, racism is always bad!  But this problem of "Imus" is more general than that, it's this phenomenon in America of having "entertainers" and even "news people" who say outrageous, overly-opinionated, things, "sexual innuendo," race things, etc.  The TV channels should not put these people on the air to begin with.  And with Imus now off of some of the "airwaves" (but not all) there are still others, some even worse than him, who remain.  It's a cultural problem that should be solved.

  • Such a beautiful family, home and garden!!! Thank you for sharing.  I hear about springtime in Paris!!

  • How wonderful that your Easter was spent with your family, enjoying each other's company! You had beautiful weather for it too. I love the pear tree blooming too, reminding everyone of rebirth.

  • RYC: You are too nice...

  • Tres belle!

    ~yvette

  • J'aime c'est photos tellement!! Famille!!
    Merci pour tes bon mots!!

  • Everyone looks so happy... you are truly blessed Michel.

  • Salut Michel!
Si tu as compris un seul mot, bravo!

Salut!

    Anne

  • Feel like I've spent time with you and family now

  • Sounds like a wonderful meal, as we know your Aperitif are wonderful along with your wines

  • ~Sigh~  What a wonderful meal Janine and to cook for so many!  Amazing!  :O)  Michel...thank you for sharing your menu...it does sound so wonderful!  I am sure it was a pleasure to make for everyone and knowing that everyone would be together sharing a meal made with loving hands made it all the more!  :O)  Would Janine be open to holding cooking classes?!  I know that I do not speak French with the exception of a few words here and there but just to be able to watch...I know I would learn so much!  It might be a good thing I am not within driving distance!  I think I might be at your home many many times!  There would be so much to learn from both of you - you both are truly amazing people!  It has been such a joy getting to know you both!

    xoxoxo Cat

  • Thank you, Michel, for commenting upon my labor of love...and letting the narrator know as well.  Indeed, the saga continues and unlike a novel, it is a true account according to my recollections...so read on

    In Christ,

    GraceAnn

  • Oh my goodess! I want to come to your house for Easter dinner next year. Mmmmmmmmmmm!

  • What a wonderful menu for your Easter meal.  Janine is a marvelous cook.  Everything sounds so delicious.  What a lot of work for her.  Do the children bring food to fill in?

You asked about the "dome" in my pictures.  It is a new stadium for playing football.  Juls said she knew what it was right away.  Of course, she and her brother, Damon, love our football.  They wanted to come here a couple years ago when their favorite teams were playing each other----about 40 miles from here.  But they could not find any rooms in the nearby area.  Would have been fun to see them.

  • That menu sounds fabulous!

  • Hello Michel! It's always a pleasure to come and see your slice of life.

  • Thank you for posting the elegant Easter menu... someday I hope to prepare a feast of that level of delight... RYC a bento is a single-portion japanese takeout meal.

    Anne

  • wow....Michel......looks like you had a wonderful Easter with your family....I am so happy for you! lovely pictures!  God bless you and Janine and your wonderful family((((HUGS))))

  • Party time!  How beautiful.  And speaking of parties ...

RYC:  I would say that the difference between an "open house" and a "party" is that you don't need an invitation to go to an open house.  It's LIKE a party -- drinks and hors d'oeuvres and conversation -- but you're free to come in and partake, whether we know you or not, whether you've been specifically invited or not.  Some come for a few minutes, some come and stay for the whole two hours.

  • I read your menu.  It's always been known that the French celebrate and enjoy wonderful meals.!   I think we Americans can take a lesson from that.  Not only does the food sound absolutely delicious but eating with those that you love...What a wonderful combination.

    Thanks so much for posting!

    votre amie,

    Francoise...

  • Bravo Janine ----that was quite some meal.   Ron

  • Wow, you have a big family. You all look so happy and having a grand time. I'll try that Easter Menu next year. But I think it's expensive. hahaha.

  • hello michel! thank you for the lovely menu! i was near drooling reading that!! it's almost time for dinner so i'm really excited to read that menu! hehe thank you!!! have a wonderful rest of the weekend! i love the proxy server! unfortunately i still cannot post pictures onto xanga but hey! at least i can upload them onto yahoo to show everyone! i am uploading all the lovely pictures of the flowers now!! hehe stay happy and healthy! i see you have so many fans!!! you so popular, michel! i can see why!! ok! angela p.s. did you know my name in hawaiian is anela? i like that too!!

  • Michel, the book's topic is about when we put people ahead of God.  Somehow in our minds we begin to "fear" people instead of God.  They become big, obstacles to avoid, in our lives.  It could be because of things they know about us, or because we have placed them on a pedestal in some way.  In our minds we "need" them.  The line that sticks out from the book is "need people less and love people more".  By "love" it means to show God's love to everyone (enemies included).

Have a good weekend.  I like the menu.

    Rachel

  • Bonjour Michel,
Ton paques sembles heureux.
    -Sara

  • Your menu in your other entry sounds fabulous.

I've started commenting on people's blogs in Xanga, but am not sure if I will put up a post as yet.

  • Your family gathering looks like a time for laughter and joy when it does heart good to be with those you cherish. Such wonderful pictures you share with us Michel. Merci.

  • Our Easter looked more like Christmas morning! We had 2 inches of snow that fell the night before. This weekend we're expecting a storm that is going to hit the entire eastern seaboard... the New England states will be hardest hit. It's April! Aren't we supposed to see some sunshine and a bit warmer temperatures? Your Easter celebration looked lovely. And yes, I am looking forward to traveling to Phoenix. The heat can sometimes make my MS symptoms increase, but I'm hoping that because there isn't so much humidity, that I'll be alright. I'll have to post pictures upon my return!

  • Happy Week-end Michel! You do not have "message" so I will leave this note in your comments.
I have just a few pictures up from Easter day but nothing as splendid as your lovely ones.

I hope the air is warm and sunny. Here we are getting rain soon.

  • Hello Michel. Andrei is not my husband. He is my sister's boy, he is 9 years old (she adopted him from Russia when he was one year old)He is a very nice boy, very sweet. My husband is Rex and he does not always like it that I put his picture on my blog because he works for the US government and he worries I guess. so if I put his picture up I will not state it... someday.
it is raining a lot here now however I just planted some flowers!!

  • Lovely family photo and I see your blue wall we discussed when you saw my blue wall in my Christmas photos.  Lovely room and perfect for your Easter / family meal.  I looks very quiet with the children already gone from the table.  I am not sure just where they would fit but I know if it were a have to case grandma and grandpa always have lap room for the little guys.  The lovely red hair is to die for.  Red hair is my very favorite and there is no red hair in our family so it will never happen unless from another line.

I read your menu and it sounds so good.  I love lamb in about any form.  My daddy wouldn't even cook it in his house.  I love the Greek sandwich "giro" and I used to make a lamb stew but haven't done it for a long time.

Our dinner at Bunny's was good, we stuffed a fresh pork roast into the cavity of a chicken and roasted it with potatoes and carrots and onions all around the side.  It was very yummy.

  • So nice of you to come by with such sweet comments. Thank you* and oh my, what a meal you all had..sounds wonderful* a large amount of people, and the children...what a beautiful day ..and "The ambiance was joyful and warm " how can you top that..* just beautiful...take good care and have a fantastic evening*...Lee

  • Wonderful family time!! Much love to you and your's!!

  • read the menu and had to comment: champagne and cheese and rhubarb pie would be a delightful meal all by itself!

  • It looks as though you and your family share a wonderful family Easter!

Sorry I haven't been around much of late. I'm out of the country at the moment but I'll be back at my computer soon. Take care for now, mon ami!

  • My Easter was fine, thank you.  It was spent with my husband's family, and there were - let's see - 21 of us.  It was a pot luck (everyone brought a dish)  and I brought a triple-layered cheesecake that turned out well (no cracks!).  It was far too cold to be outside that day!  It snowed, and was actually colder than it was at Christmas!  The youngsters hunted baskets inside.

What an interesting (and tasty) menu you had!  We had:  ham, turkey, broccoli casserole, a pasta dish, green beans with almonds, potato salad, a fresh vegetable tray, and coleslaw, along with homemade rolls.  There were cakes and pies and the cheesecake for dessert.  No wine, though!

My computer is balking at downloading the pictures, so I will have to try again later.  I remember that pear tree!  Unfortunately the snow here has killed all the blooms and first leaves of our pear tree this year.  Hope you are having better Spring weather!

  • Michel:

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your family at Easter time. It appears that you had a

wonderful time. Our family gathered together at Easter, too.

It's wonderful when the entire family can be together on any holiday.

Our trees are blooming right now, too. So beautiful.

  • RYC:  Actually she was unable to enter the apartment for just a few hours, so she had dinner with some friends.  That's what was worrying to me, the fact that she was back in the apartment before anything had been done to the furnaces except to shut them off completely so that they had no heat that night!

My feet prefer comfort to fashion these days so my shoe wardrobe is much-reduced.  One pair of "good" tennis shoes, an older pair, 2 pairs of dress shoes (one black, one brown), sandals in white and black, a casual pair of brown leather shoes, and a couple of pairs of fun sandals do the job for me.  It's no strain to my (much smaller) half of the closet!  : )

Have you counted your shirts lately?  : )  Of course, I included dress shirts, T shirts, casual shirts, flannel shirts, light sweaters - it all adds up!

  • My MOUTH is watering from the menu! UMMM looks good, can I come for dinner sometime?

  • I love the first picture. A wonderful Easter at the Michel Estate!

  • What a lovely Easter scene. It did snow heavily here over the Easter holiday.

RYC: the Canadian Shield (or Precambrian Shield) is a large area of exposed bedrock. The Sheild starts about an hour north of where I live and extends northword around Hudson Bay and into the Arctic regions. It extends westward into the Canadian North West Territories, covers much of Quebec (90%) and Labrador to the east. It also covers areas of Michigan, Winsonsin, New York State and Minnesota. It doesn't affect the weather (that I know of). Low lying areas are muskeg swamps, while higher ground is not suitable for crops because the top soil--if there is any at all is very thin.

Snow here in April is not unusual, but melts away very quickly. It is not unusual to have very warm weather now too. We can count on warm weather now until November, although I do remember once it snowed November 1 and it stayed--mother nature is fickle!

  • The menu is worth three Michelin stars.

  • Dearest Michel...why can't we comment on your Easter dinner menu?  Okay, I'll do it here!

I love the leg of lamb...for years my family had that, but haven't for a long time...do you help with the cooking, or is the kitchen strictly Janine's domain?    How have you been, and your daughter in law?  I planted some wildflowers yesterday...hope they grow..I don't have a "green thumb", like you!

     Luv, Lowie

  • Just because a kitten walks with a limp, that doesn't mean it will not run some day. And that is the kitten I will choose every time. As with the pear tree, just because it is stunted, that didn't stop it from eventually bearing beautiful fruit. Aren't you glad you had the patience to wait? Perhaps growing up in the shadow of the cherry tree cross allowed it a special blessing! It looks like you had a lovely Easter, Michel. Having grown up an only child, I envy your children and grandchildren these wonderful memories. God bless, and thank you for sharing your beautiful family! Nancy

  • The cheese plateau must taste good.

You were right about the immigants from the maghreb.

  • amazing and beautiful...your roots go deeply and from it grows the most beautiful lives. and that menu! now i'm hungry!
    merci!

  • i wonder if the girls were playing against the boys in the card game ... in which case I'd guess the girls were probably winning ! ;)

keep well. its always great to see your posts even when I can't make my own.

  • Your Easter entry and your meal menu is a delight to the soul.  I wish we had the opportunity to have our children at holidays.  They live far and diverse and we never can have a true family holiday.  Two families that have grown in different ways and lives.  It was so wonderful to have his and mine during the past time.  They were happy to meet each other Blessings and love to all of you!

  • Sounds yummy the Easter dinner. Judi

  • Beautiful photos Michel. You have such a lovely family and i like your dining room! But what i love best is the menu you posted on your above blog, absolutely delicious!! I enjoy a family gathering ..with my family that is not ..not the extended ones

  •  How wonderful to share special days surrounded by family like that. Thank you for giving us a peek into your celebrations, I'm always envious. And I enjoy seeing your garden waking up after its winter nap. The contrast of the trees is intriguing. Here in Cleveland, we had a snow storm over Easter weekend, so the sights were very different!

  • Magnifique famille Michel
    tout le monde est là
4 générations avec Monsieur Louis :)
Quelle belle fête pour vous tous !

    amitiés à tous

  • Why do they call them french fries? Should be Belgian fries...but in the States they don't know Belgium, it is to small a country for them. One day they will call them Bush fries or G.W.B fries.

  • It looks like a beautiful day...  happy easter... happy summer...

  • I found several groups that are sharing information on herbs. Lucy is quite a bit better this morning. I am feeding her by hand flax seed oil and cottage cheese with raw honey. I read it helps cancer in people and cats.  I have seen a turn for the better. Judi
