Hier Dimanche 18 Mars 2007nous avons rendu visite au père de Janine ( 94 ans ) qui vit dans un hôpital rural
dans sa ville appelée Rue dans le département de la Somme et située à 75 km d’ Amiens .Il s’ appelle Louis .
Pendant une paire d’ heures il nous raconta ses souvenirs de guerre quand ill était prisonnier de 1940 à 1945 . I
l était couché à ce moment – là mais en bonne forme .
Yesterday Sunday 18 March we visited Janine ‘s father ( 94 year old ) living in a nursing home
in his town called Rue in the department of Somme and located 75 km far from Amiens .
He is called Louis .
During a couple of hours he related to us his memories from the war II
when he was a war prisoner from 1940 to 1945 .
He was laying at this moment on his bed but in good shape .

Sur le chemin du retour nous avons pris l’ ancienne route conduisant à Amiens longeant la rivière Somme au fond de sa large vallée .
Sur les côtés de la route il y a une multitude d’ étangs . Je pris une photo de l’ un d’ eux au soleil couchant ave un ciel nuageux et par un temps venteux et froid .
Les vaguelettes de l’ étang et leurs reflets d’ argent , l’ arbre mort couché sur le bord me donnèrent un sentiment particulier .
On the way back we took the ancient route leading to Amiens that skirts along the river Somme
at the bottom of its large valley .
At the sides of the road there is a multitude of large ponds or small lakes .
I took a pictures of one of them at the sunset with a cloudy sky and a windy and cold weather .
The small waves on the pond and their glints of silver, the dead tree fallen on the edge
gave to me a particular feeling .

Nous entrâmes dans un village nommé LONG LE CATELET où nous nous sommes arrêtés .
Nous étions émerveillés par ce beau château construit au début du XVIIIème siècle . Il a typiquement le style de cette période .
Je pris la photo à travers la grille . Il est encore habité .
En fait à cet endroit se trouvait déjà un château depuis le IXème siècle mais c’ était un château féodal qui a été détruit .
Je pris aussi une photo de l’ église .Le clocher a été construit au XVème siècle . La nef est plus récente et est immense pour un village de 620 habitants .
Tous les villages de la Somme ont de belles et anciennes églises excepté pour les zones détruites pendant les deux guerres mondiales .
Il y a aussi quelques beaux châteaux .
We came in a village called LONG Le CATELET where we stopped .
We were amazed by this beautiful castle built at the beginning of the XVIIIth century .
It has typically the style of this period .I took a picture through the gate . It still inhabited .
In fact at this place already existed a castle since the IXth century
but it was feudal fortress that has been destroyed .
I took also a picture of the church .
The tower clock and the spire have been built at the XVth century .
The nave is more recent but it is immense for a 620 inhabitants in the village . .
All the villages in Somme have beautiful and ancient churches
excepted the places destroyed by the two world wars .
There are also some beautiful castles .

Ce Dimanehe après – midi nous avons vécu dans la mémoire
et nous étions heureux de sentir nos anciennes racines qui nous permettent d’ aller de l’ avant

and we were happy to feel our ancient roots supporting us to go ahead
