La tempête et l’ amour.
Storm and love
English version below the picture
Weeping willow in the storm . saule-pleureur dans la tempète 11fevrier 2007
Last Sunday it was the storm here in Amiens (North of France ) . Doors and windows were shaken. The rain crashed on their glass.
We heard the loud voice of the infuriated wind . The branches of the trees were twisted by the whirlwinds.
From the second floor of the house , through a window covered by raindrops I took a picture of this weeping willow
whom the branches were entirely curved by the blow . It resisted valiantly. .
I shivered. One feels oneself frail in such a storm . And I came to think of the storms of life .
We need to be reassured, to be loved at those moments. With love that we receive and give , we can resist better.
I wish it was a Valentine's Day for all .

Have I told you lately how much I adore your posts? I hope you have weathered the storm with love all around you. I know you have. Happy Valentine's Day, Michel.
We had a few wind storms over here in Vancouver not too long ago too!
Herez a beautiful quote for ya onValentinez:
"Nothing is more beautiful than the love that has weathered the storms of life." (has an amazing pix to go with it too)
I'll send it to you if I can find it online!
michel,
i hope all is well. the storm is dreadful. hide below the blanket to keep warm.
your friend,
aliah
One does not have to be frail when facing the storms of life. We must be like the willow, bending with the blows so that we will not break.
Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!
We are having big storms here in Illinois. Lots and lots of snow. It doesn't look like it's going to stop. Just in time to sit by a nice fire for Valentine's Day!
<3,
Aubrey
Yes...indeed.....With love that we receive and give , we can resist better. Well said.
We're getting hitting by a storm at the moment. Lots of snow and slushy stuff. Stay warm.
that's a beautiful picture! Is that your town outside the window? Gorgeous!!
I had heard that there was a tornado in France and was concerned about you! It looks like you got a pretty bad storm but I'm very glad that it wasn't any worse for you.
wow...Michel..you have such an insight on life! I love your thoughts! I am amazed at how you find things that relate to life! WONDERFUL!!!
May God keep you and your family wrapped in His love...that is my valentine for you(((((HUGS)))))
That's my husband in the picture in front of the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City.
We had a bad wind storm like that here in Minnesota last summer. It ripped a bunch of large trees down some of which killed people.
There is that sublime sense of watching the violence of weather. Does it teach us our place in the universe? Does it show us what really counts? I wonder...
Beautifully written, in both languages.
the wisest words of man...
Thank you for always stopping by. Yes, the little boy in the middle of my past post is Javon. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your family Michel.

A poetic retelling. Happy Valentine's Day!
I always look to the willows for the first sign of Spring. The willow has a springlike look to it, although winter is not releasing its grip without a fight!
Today's storm has snow, sleet, and freezing rain here. The wind is supposed to come tomorrow, to blow the snow into drifts. I should look to the neighbor's willow, to see if it echoes the dance your has done!
Happy Valentine's Day.
Hurrah for Tuesdays and your post
We've had a lot of storms this winter, fortunately I haven't had any damage to the house though. I loved your comments on my site re. the As - very clever Michel
I'm still keeping Marina and the family in my prayers, please God all will go well with her.
Marie
Happy Valentine's Day in advance to you and your wife!
Much LOVE and warm days to you, my Friend!
I agree Michel, wild weather patterns can be compared to our lives and how we deal with the problems and "storms" that arise. I love the photo you've taken of the willow tree being blown about in the wind!
A very happy St. Valentine's Day to you and Janine.
What a wonderful post! Weeping Willows are my favorite, I had one in our front yard that I climbed all time when I was younger. Do you have any Valentine traditions in your family?
When in the midst of a storm I am always so very glad to know that "this too shall pass".
May you and your sweet Janine have a wonderful Valentine's Day.
Karen
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY Michel, to you and Janine.
I am glad you survived the storm with no damages.
this was a very good description of a bad storm. I do not like wind!!!
We are supposed to have storm and wind tomorrow
That is a good picture. At times I am that weeping willow. Thank you!
A Happy Valentine's Day to you and Janine too!
Yes, with love and support, we can withstand the storms of life better.
I wondered about you when I heard of a tornado in France. I'm glad you are OK.
Happy Valentines Day to you and your family.
Storms like that are scary! I am so grateful for God's company when walking through the storms of life.
Happy Valentine's day to you and Janine! Valentine's Day is my 20th wedding anniversary.
j'aime pas d'hiver. ca crains. creve...
Hello Michel!
When I was living out in the Australian bush, the family had she oaks around the house. I remember being outside, and going for a walk on the 60 000 hectaire sheep property and hearing the wind blowing through the branches. It used to scare the dickens out of me! I can still hear the sound in my mind, though now it does not represent fear, only a time long gone but not forgotten.
Love you your family sir!
Lily
Happy Valentine to you and Janine!
Happy Valentine's Day Michel! I got your message. Hope you and your family are well.
Is there no Valentine's Day in France?
We indeed do need to be loved all the time but especially in life's storms. Judi
a rattling storm humbles us like nothing else sometimes. the trees know to bend with the storm. happy valentines to you, you lover of life!
Happy Valentines Day Hope it is a great one, Judi
A whipping willow with tears. What a nice pictures.
We had the storm here in Bruxelles too.My colleauge, a girl was taken by the wind and throw some five meters, she flew like mary Poppins. It was not fun because she was hurt and had to stay home two weeks.
We saw him on a film taken by security. Incredible the force of the wind.
When the storms of life hit us, it is even worse. Sometimes we are ourselves the cause of this storms, and that hurts more.
Prayers help.

Carlo
Wind makes me just want to stay at home in front of the fire. If you remember we have a bad storm a few weeks ago that cause much damage. Hopefully a few more weeks it will be the start of spring, there are spring flowers coming out now here.
Happy Valentines Day to Janine and you
What an awesome picture. Nature is so powerful and yet so beautiful. You write so beautifully.
May you and Janine celebrate this Valentine's Day.
Love to you both,
Francoise.
so very true! happy valentine's day to you and janine!!!
hope it is a very happy loving day!
angela
Wow you sure had a bad storm and no internet or dish washer
I am not teaching History but learning it at university. Take care
Angela
In such a storm does it not seem comforting to be inside a sturdy house, safe from the elements? Always I feel sad for those who must be outside in such weather. Always the trees and the garden suffer from such intense weather. I hope you did not have damage to your tree.
May you and your wife have a lovely valentine's Day.
As ever, Carol Suzanne
What a beautiful post. Thank you. Have a Happy Valentines day.
Oh. I had just seen you on several of my other subs and on featured and thought I would come say hello... Hello.
Ang
As you can see on my site, we got a storm as well, and it makes me feel vulnerable. I am alright, tho, for I have plenty of supplies!
happy valentines!!
we havent had a storm for a while now... we used to have typhoons and everything during the summer... this year everythings been milder.. even the winters arent really cold.
A good Valentine Day to you and yours. Our stormy weather is to come tonight.
Thank you for the anniversary wishes, Michel. Dieu est bon!
RYC: Mais oui! Bonne journée à toi, Michel!
That was a wonderfully poetic & philosophical post. And an intriguing photo,I can see the limbs bending in the wind! That's a nice view out of the window, too. Happy Valentine's Day to you & your wife.
Happy Valnetine's Day to you too!
It is 3am in Taiwan right now
How do you put the little hearts after your name?
Happy Valentine's Day to you and your sweety.
True, Michel...the weeping willow has a wistful appearance, but it's vulnerablity and resilience is what makes it so beautiful. Do not shiver, dear Michel, you are very much loved! I'm relieved that you all weathered the storm, and you lived to tell the tale! Thinking of you, Love on Valentine's Day, Lowie
The French is so beautiful in this one. I understood about 60-70% of the vocabulary and came away with a feeling of what happened. The English version doesn't do it justice. Happy Day!
Oh Michel you ARE funny. First of all the property was not my parents. They live not far from me on a peninsula called Redcliffe. The property that I was on was for work. I used to be a governess to a 6yo and nanny to a 3 and 2 yo. I know that the property sounds large to us, but to them it seems to be rather small. When I was there not quite 20 years ago, people were complaining that it was getting too crowded out there....just like town! lol. You have to realise that there are properties here that are millions of hectaires in size.
Oh.....and they bred SHEEP there.......not ships. Big difference. Though they do have roaming around what is other wise known as 'ships of the desert' which are camels. They are left over by the explorers. Many have been put down because they just breed and are of no use anymore.
I hope that that cleared up some of your ideas.......chuckles. You made me laugh at the breeding ships thought. Not at you sir, but with you!
Please greet your wife for me.
Love from,
narelle
You are quite welcome Michel and a Happy Valentine's Day to you as well.
, your friend,
Yvonne
Thank You!
OH Michel, that is what i thought that you must have been tired. Thanks for the giggle anyhow!
love Lily
Oh.......is it too late to wish you and Janine a Happy Valentines Day?
Merci d'avoir partagé ton saule pleureur...
Ciao.
To be safe and warm in a comfy home during a storm is very important. We had such a storm yesterday. The wind howelled something fierce through the boughs of the maple trees in our front yard. It was exciting to watch the snow fall and see the wind blow it so hard. I was thankful I didn't have to go out into it though.
happy valentine's to you, also
xo
Valentine's Day for all -- with returned love from all, as well. What a lovely thought.
What an elegant way to capture the strength and beauty of a willow. Thank you for your comment. I am visiting America's east coast with my family right now -- it's our first time! My parents finally got to see snow, and they were excited. I will post pictures of my endeavors on my blog soon. Thank you for always remembering to share the wonders of life. Happy Valentine's Day~
I wholeheartedly agree. With love a lot of wonderful things can be accomplished!
Wishing you and your family all the best!
sometimes nature reminds you of the things you must weather in order to enjoy the beautiful sunshine. special people, family and friends and nice thoughts are our security blanket.hope you had a great valentine with much love to give and get around you.
with love from india!

The good thing about storms is, they always end. (We had a double rainbow here the other day. Just beautiful.)
In the face of a storm is it best to be strong and resist or bend with it like the willow tree? Thought provoking, Michel. Happy days to you.
Wow, I hope you won't have to experience a storm like that again for a long time, if ever. very dangerous.
I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day, Michel!
The storms are braved with love!!
Laurie
What did you and Janine do on Valentine's Day?
That is a beautiful picture, Michel. Thank you for posting it! I really enjoy coming over and reading your posts. They always fill me with thought.
I hope you and your family had a great Valentine's Day.
Marguerite
sitting by the fire of a warm heart..........that is the perfect way to handle any storm whether that heart belongs to us or a dear one. have a wonderful week, and I hope your sweet valentine and you had a lovely day together. -g
There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine's Day. Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". Other aspects of the story say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine. Judi
RYC: If you find out who Sarah is let me know. lol
Glad you liked the quote. Hope you had a great day. Your comment made me smile. Thanks for that. lol ANG
It seems as though the weather this winter has been unusually stormy for many all over the world. We have been fortunate. We have bitter cold, and some snow, but that is normal for our winter weather.
Hope you and Janine had a nice Valentine's Day. After all these years, Ken and I usually do not do anything special.
You and Janine will be celebrating your 46th anniversary in a few days. I will always remember that you were married just a few days before Ken and I were married. I think you and Janine have had as good a marriage as we have had. The four of us are truly blessed, are we not?? I will wish the two of you a wonderful anniversary a few days early.
Your willow tree reminds me that I often tell my working associates that to bend like a willow denotes great strength.
Oh, I love weeping willows! We used to have one in front of our house in Alabama, but it was uprooted by a hurricane several years ago.
And there is nothing to forgive... stop by my site when you have the time.
Yes I love willows, when spring comes the buds and pussy willows are like soft furry kittens. Even though natural asprin comes from willows, how many people have actually tried chewing willow branches?
I think God made things like the willow for medicine. Pain causes crying and the willow is the antidote for pain. I think I will try to go exploring next sunday and try to take some pictures of the willows in the Los Angeles river. Thanks for reminding me of the willows...
Right now, I sort of feel like that weeping willow tree, being blown about in the wind. I spent Valentines Day alone and snowbound. Today the wind is gusting quite hard, while my friend is in Maine trying to cut up a huge, fallen pine tree from someones yard. I worry that others may fall while he is cleaning that one up. You are right, a storm can make you feel very small and insignificant. I like the way you relate the storm to life.
Wishing you and Nadine a great week! I hope to catch up on your other blogs soon.
Love
Edie Rose
i hope your valentine's day was good, michel. i'm feeling better. don't worry. i've met the boy. how it'll turn out, i do not know. let's wait and see. i hope you wish me well.
Thank you for the wonderful wishes - Have a great weekend Michel
Salut Michel!
~Anne
I like weeping willows. I planted one in my front lawn - at our old place. RYC: I like Mozart myself.
I was so happy to see your comment, for my grandparents would put ashes out. They lived in the city and we lived on a farm so we didn't have ashes!!
Would you believe that Ash Wednesday is next week? How the year is flying by!
Thank you for coming by and for the kind remarks. You made me smile!
Love
Bev
I love how you do that! You make us look at things in such a different light. :O)
Have you ever read Pilgrim's Progress? I had Lillian read this when she was in the 7th grade. She chose to read the orginal version because she loved the way it was written. The children and I are reading a slightly different version of it at night before going to bed. Pilgrim's Progress is such a wonderful allegory that pertains to our storms in life. Even though it was written in the 1680's...I love how the journey of life still relates to today.
I love that your weeping willow tree is large enough to over reach your 2nd story windows! Weeping willows are one of my favorite trees! I love how they gently sway in the breeze - even in the smallest of breezes the branches catch it and wave their arms. We planted one beside our home here last year. I remember as a child climbing in a weeping willow tree and hiding within the branches. When we moved here to Kentucky, a climate much more favorable to the willow trees, I could not wait to plant one in our yard. For now...only the birds can enjoy the branches but I often think about how it will look 50 years from now and what child might climb up into it and hide within it's branches. :O)
I hope that you had a wonderful valentines with your sweetheart! ;O)
Love to you all and continued prayers for Marina...

It was a quiet, easy Valentine's Day here Michel. We are surrounded by snow, up to 2 feet on the ground, but when you have no where to go, and you are warm and cozy in your home with the ones you love, all is right with the world. No "awake" medication for me today, but I didn't really need to be that sharp today. It'll be a restful weekend. I hope your weekend is wonderful!
ryc: Valentine's Day here was quiet-I have no sweetheart, yet! Thank you for the compliments!
, Laurie
Bonjour Michel
Bon week-end
I don't like storms they scare me. The treasure is making the dollar coins but I don't think there gold most likely gold plated and they can be used same as a dollar paper bill. I think they would like to get rid of paper money.
Shirley
I forgot.....I ate a lot of that peanutbutter enough to make me a little sick but not enough to send me to the hospital so I was lucky.
Hmmm...interesting question you posed. Would I still climb a tree?
It is amazing the transformation that has taken place within me even just in this past year of moving here. I have always been a city girl but with a country girl heart. For those who know me and know my dislike for bugs and such and the thought of getting dirty would have deterred me from doing many things. Part of that, I believe, was due to my mother not allowing me to get my clothing dirty. I was not allowed to do housework, cooking or gardening. Boy has that sure changed! I have always loved gardening but now it has turned into a passion to learn more about the soil and the plants themselves...what makes them grow...the condition of the soil or conditioning of the soil...weeds that are growing around and what they can tell me about the condition of the soil/plant (weeds are a great indicator of what is lacking in the soil!)...and even the bugs tell us about what is going on. I have had to allow myself to get down into the dirt and yes...my boots get muddy as does my clothing and I actually pick up a bug or two to look at it.
But would I climb a tree?
It is funny that before I had children, I did not have any fear of heights. Getting up on a step stool now makes me get a bit wary about the few steps up and I can't imagine what climbing up a ladder to pick cherries would do.
But would I climb a tree?
Last year I would have answered probably not. This year? Yes Michel! I think I would! :O)
xoxo Cat
What a beautiful picture. I love to watch storms. I was born on a stormy day.
hello cher michel!!! hehe

RYC: The movie was fun. I'm not sure how they caused people to fly up in the air. It was an amazing sceene..
Your tree survived the storm as did you and your family. God watches over the ones who love HIM.
Morning Michel! Hope life is treating you well!
Ang
I LOVE YOU!!
Hello Michel,
Happy that you stopped by to say hello.. Hope everything is going well in your home. Continuing to pray for your daughter-in-law!!
It is 3:20pm on Sunday afternoon. It is probably evening in France...
Hope you have a great week!
Christy
really? chinese new year is also celebrated in your town? that is wonderful!
With so many comments, I'm surprised that you missed me. Thank you for caring enough to ask of my wellbeing. Fortunately things are going well. I have been just very busy. I have missed not being able to visit my xanga friends and haven't had the time to post...though much is going through the brain. Next week I have jury duty...one day or one trial. Blessings to you my sweet friend.
Do you have a special place in your home to meditate?
I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day.
May you be kind enough to leave a comment in this xanga?
To greet her birthday ^^...

Bonjour!
I'll be back...
thanks for the good word.
Patricia
Wow, that sounds like it was quite the storm. That is an amazing picture you were able to capture out your window.
It certainly is a blessing to be surrounded by loved ones during the storms of life that come to us all.
How are you Michel? How is your daughter-in-law. Judi
Storms have a special kind of beauty. And even more beautiful when they end. Last week we saw a double rainbow. One complete one, and half-circumscribed by a fainter one. Unbelievably extraordinary.
Storms can be amazing and scary at the same time
I neglected to come here yesterday to wish you a Happy Anniversary! I hope you had a wonderful, romantic day. I am sure your 46 yrs. have flown by as quickly as ours have. God has blessed us with wonderful spouses, hasn't he, Michel?? Cannot remember if I came back here to say ours is on Thursday, the 22nd. You had asked me about that. Guess my mind is not what it used to be! Because our anniversary is in the middle of winter, and the weather is usually not very pleasant, we don't usually do anything for our anniversary. I never want to go out into the cold!
This is a tad late but better late than never. Happy Valentine's, my friend.
Michel, Today I have time to read your entries. You write about the storms...we are having them here, too, but with lots of snow. You write about the books. I also have some very old books from my father. One book is the journal of a soldier in the American Revolutionary War who was captured and taken to England to spend time in prison there. It was printed in 1854. Another is an old one volume encyclopedia printed in 1831. The information known at the time is quite interesting and often quite incorrect. During the storms it is nice to be able to read a good book. I hope the chemotherapy is helping your daughter-in-law.
Hello Michel.
Wonderful tree there. Here in North Texas, many of the trees tend to be ugly. Glad its not the case in france
ryc: I might choose most of those, but above all Agape. Its the creator and progenitor of every other kind of love.
tc my friend,
Ren
We get storms like that once in a while and it's very scary! I feel sorry for anyone caught in such a storm!
Pilates is a form of exercise where you get in certain postions and hold them and stretch. They seem easy but sure could find muscles I never knew I had before. Judi
She is beautiful in both pictures. Judi
funny i should be reading this now we are experiencing 60 mph winds here in the mountains of Virginia as i write 14,000 in my city are without electric power ~ your willow has a green aura to it looks as if it's getting ready to bud blessings
I have a cork screw willow tree in my back yard. Like the weeping willow only the branches grow in cork screws and interior designers use them for decoration.
As for storms, we have one going on tonight. They say we may have hail in the middle of the night. Mother nature is her wildest in Tennessee in the spring. She brings us wind and tornados with lots of thunder and lightning. I have a downstairs closet under the steps that I have to climb into at times ha. I have had a little roof damage in years past. (I hate these storms too)
Love, Brenda
(Hope your Valentines Day was lovely)
