  • Louis ( 94 ) réunit sa famille .

    Louis ( 94) reunites his family .

My father in law , Louis ( 94 years old ) wanted to reunite his entire family : children , grandchildren and great grandchildren . He did it on past Saturday August 26 . He had to get out the hospital where he lives to stay during two days at his house . His two daughters organized the stay , the reunion and the meals . I took those 4 photos following the generations .

Et avec ses beaux - fils   )

    Louis avec ses arrière petits - enfants  . August 26 , 2006
As you see we have also celebrated his birthday ( 94 ) and the Joe ' s one (6) with his red t. shirt

At watching those 4 photos many thoughts come to my mind about time that does fly , generations that follow each others , family , change of way of live and mentality and also about the beloved missing ones . Louis is both the foundation and the top of this family pyramid . He is now the only one of his generation . His wife has gone in 1998 . But he is well surrounded by the love of all his ones and he is the link of the family .

  • What a large family you have!!  And an attractive and beautifiul one too!

    Happy birthday Louis!

    <3,

    Aubrey

  • It must be such a blessing to your father-in-law to be able to see his great-grandchildren. Some people don't live long enough to see their grandchildren.

  • As always, another great post. These pictures remind me of similar photos with my great-grandparents.

  • Happy Birthday Louis and many blessings to you and your beautiful family!

Michel...I love how you posted this...what a beautiful tribute to the patriarch of the family.

I must ask...who made the birthday cakes for your father-in-law?  They are beautiful!

  • I hope these stories can turn into a real book thanks for the kind words.
Time indeed does fly and the generations go on. Judi

  • Time certainly does fly!!

  • He has a beautiful family.

  • Louis is a patriarch indeed.  Lovely blog.

  • He looks very happy.

  • Its truly a blessing.

  • What wonderful pictures to share. How proud and distinguished! Thank you for sharing these, Michel.

  • What a super family, I often wonder about the new generation, waiting waiting before they have a family, and so much will be missed  and lost in terms of learning from the wise great ones.

  • Beautiful photos of a very happy family. This gathering will be one that even the youngest will remember for the rest of their lives so Louis will never be forgotten. I think that family gatherings are important to the fabric of our lives, drawing us together in good times and bad times.  Thank you for sharing this special day Michel. Marie

  • j'aime le gateau! :D

  • you look so young in your photos! you can pass as one of the grandchildren too. heheh...

Your granddaughter Manon is so beautiful. Will she be an actress or a model when she grows up?

  • A beautiful blog on family.  Everyone has a smile and their face's show happiness and love from Louis, daughter's, son in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  A very bonded family a love that will flow from generation to generation as it should.  Shirley

  • What a lovely family! You are blessed. Thank you for sharing the pictures.

  • This was just the best blog ever!    Thank you for sharing your family with us, Michel, it was wonderful to see them all. How wise it was of your father-in-law to call everyone together. Those are the best kinds of memories to have.

  • Oh, Michel.  These are such precious pictures.  What a wonderful looking family.  I think your father-in-law had a wonderful idea to get you all together.  Was everyone able to be there?

Looking at the pictures, Janine and her sister look a lot alike-----but Janine looks much younger!!  And you look very handsome, indeed!!

  • Soon he will be a great, great grandfather.

  • I always love that idea.
Getting a big family together, spending a day and just seeing everyone,
whether you know them well or not, who's related to you.
In practice it never seems to work out for me,
but it's so wonderful you've all gotten together.

  • That is so cool, having all those generation together. What a special day in time.

  • What a lovely blog.

  • What a lovely Blog.

  • That is a wonderful thing for a family to do. It honors Louis, and the family as well. Happy Birthday, Louis!

  • I do notice the family resemblance.  These pictures will be "treasures" in years to come!  -Rachel

  • Thank you, Michel for taking the time to look at my photos and commenting. You are kind.
    Sheryl

  • That is how I want to be! My family (elders) is not close and never will be. But, I intend to change that with my own, both natural and adopted. Maybe someday that will be me sitting in front of a cake with all my loved ones near.

    Hey...I can dream!

  • Wonderful pictures

  • Your life story is always like a breath of fresh air! Thank you. You inspire me.

  • 94 years old!  wow!

and such a lovely family he has.  he must be very very happy.

  • I love to see generation pics.I have some with five generations on them.Your family is lovely!

  • Thank you for showing us all these marvelous photos of your family. What a great family Louis has got and he is lucky to have a great SIL like you . I have to agree with some others here that the birthday cake looks wonderful. I hope I am right in thinking that the man behind the lady in white t shirt is your son as he does look very much like you.

  • so many generations!! what a special day!

  • What wonderful family photos, Michel. Louis is grand age, and looks so proud with his family around him. I like the way you've shown the pictures, with each generation standing with your father in law.

  • Faces like flowers growing in abundance. What a lovely family.

  • I am glad I was right he is just as handsome as his Dad

  • I think Janine and her sister look a lot alike!  When my Great-Grandmother was still alive she once said at a family reunion that when she and her husband first got married and started having kids she never knew what "a mess" she had started.  Of course she was kidding about us being "a mess"....I think

  • Wow... this is really amazing! I'll soon be giving birth to the first great grandchild. I wonder how Aaron's (maternal) grandmother feels about it. She hasn't ask me about the pregnancy although I see her almost every week.

  • a beautiful family. thank you for letting us share in the reunion.

  • Mr. French (the fish)says hi.
    he's still alive!!!!
    I think he's almost as disorganized as I am.......What a messy fish.
especially as he was a butler in the previous life....:)

And here is a picture of a carwheel.

  • He looks truely blessed and loved.

  • I love this post. My family get-together at my grandparenst house is exactly similar :) as they say in america ... Rock on!

  • Thanks Michel,

The source - money, power, wealth, entertainment .. all else that should come secondary. Such as the pictures you've put up - a wonderful family.. love, joy, and happiness and all that can be experienced in it - those are the things that should matter. And those are the things that should be spread, rather than war and hatred. .

    Good Afternoon to you,

    Renny

  • You're right -- I'll try to put up a photo of me operating the radio.  It will be at the station I go to in Puerto Rico, since those are the photos I already have.  I suppose I should have a photo take here too.  Good idea.

  • Hi,
You are invited to review and comment on my new book Science, World, and Faith. I have posted its complete text on my blog http://www.xanga.com/henryjackson

  • Your family looks great.  Bonjours!

  • How nice to be able to have a family reunion.

Michel. I repaired my pipes very well. The flood in the shower was a good thing, for we now had much water coming from the douche.

  • Hi Michel!

Thanks for checking in on me from time to time. I'm back and doing well. Many many changes ... some good good, some ... well just changes. You'll be seeing more of me around. Thanks for your friendship!

  • Interesting idea, I should get video -- with audio -- and upload that to somewhere, have a link on xanga to it.  That'd be pretty neat.

  • Wonderful! Take notes on what he says.

  • Thank you for leaving a comment. My profile picture is of my younger sister and I, 40+ years ago!

I think I've fixed the subscription problem I was having, so you can try it again and hopefully it will work this time.

  • That is so beautiful.  There are not many of us in our family and a reunion is very small but the love is very big!

  • Michel, this is beautiful. I absolutley adore family photos. These photos tell a lot... in the faces. lovely people gathered together and there is love here

  • How wonderful that you were able to gather everyone together!  Sometimes that is so difficult.  Now you have some wonderful photos as remembrance!

Wonder if some day Joe, the six-year-old, will remember that day as he has pictures taken as the patriarch of his own family?

It is interesting to see our places change in life through photographs.

  • Sometimes people do not like the people who help them but to have a grateful heart is important I think in this world. Judi

  • Hello.

Nice family photos.  How are you doing?  I am just trying to pay everyone a visit, while I have some time.  Sorry I haven't been on here much.  I have been devoting a lot of my time to my son, beings he is in Football, now, and then this past week, the Sweetcorn Festival was going on, which we were busy with that.  Things are slowing down a bit, for now.  Ha!  Hope all is well, and hope you have a great day!  It has been beautiful weather here.  What is the weather like there?  Take care.  God Bless.

    ~Kim~

  • I love group photos~!  your family seems to be so good about snapping them.  beautiful, beautiful family, Michel.

  • Louis is one blessed man, to be so rich in family and surrounded by so much love! I enjoyed seeing these pictures, showing all the generations together in one place, celebrating life. Everyone looks happy and well! And I hope Louis is around for many more years to come. A belated happy birthday to him (and to young Joe as well)!

Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

  • Thankyou Michel, for your kind words. They certainly are of comfort. :)

  • Thankyou for your visit Michel.........but alas, I can't claim ownership of the story.  I found it on the internet.

Prawn ~ a crustacean boiled and eaten........otherwise known as shrimp in America

  • Wonderful photos, and special celebration.

  • I enjoyed the pictures of your family and the generations.  My father died in 2004, at age 93, and he was the last one of a family of 8 children.  My mother died in 1985.  I agree, time flies so quickly -- too quickly.  When we're young, we want to be older, and when we're older, we wish we were younger (physically), but have the widsom we've gained through the years!

  • What a great reunion, and the cakes look YUMMY!

  • Thank you for your comment. My video is of my pinwheels in my garden. (they look like propellers) There's also some clips of the Beatles's music video 'Free as a Bird.' I was trying to be artistic, it's just a fantasy.

  • What a beautiful family.  Now I see where Janine gets her vitality and good looks from.  Well, you all look well and happy but I particularly like the smiles of happiness on the faces of  those beautiful children!

    votre amie.

    Francoise

  • Makes me want to have a family... Makes want to have a story...

    Thanks for the birthday wishes.

  • Yes, I am British, living in the middle of the UK.  We have family living in France, so I enjoyed your snippet of French life.

  • Ahhh, family. What a great way to celebrate life.... by celebrating with those around you that make it important. Family is the foundation of a loving group of people. Laughing together brightens our outlook. Family is knowing that you will always have someone close by that loves you.   Blessings, kc

  • what great pictures and such a historic moment! hope you are well!!

  • RYC: Yes my post was talking about fasting from a thing, or habit.

  • She was born deaf,  this surgery allows her to hear.   What an amazing miracle.    Thanks for the well wishes.

  • yes,i crocheted the pants =) i'm crocheting more now for winter!

  • Yes, it will have been an accomplishment when I finish in February. Have a wonderful week, Michel.

  • what a wonderful reunion it looked to be!! i am sure that it made him happy to have all of his relatives near!!! a perfect day!!

and yes, you are right...i am doing much flying art these days! I suppose it is because my spirit is free and wishes to fly away with the fish and hats!

  • Wonderful to see a family united!

ryc: I did put a tick in 'enable comments' but it wouldn't work, first time it's happened.

  • Such a wonderful family collection of generational photos! Yes I speal a very little French...I have spent more time in France than any other single country or area besides the area I live ( Southern California) My friend wrote..He is doing well ..happy and had dental work done!! Currently renovating his "seven roofs" and improving his flower and vegitable garden..No post cards this time! This time a poster announcing his lecture to raise funds for a local charity! I also recieve an entire packets of photos of his gardens...improvements in his properties and he looks very happy!!

I may secretly post his photo I found on line..on my blog and you can see his visage...he stands in the back..( humble man with wonderous words in his books) he will have on a black..rain coat off to the lft of the white sign...

Last year he planeted pois de semain flowers (?) in his rockary  in my honor..of recieving my first letter ...now he seems to have flowers everywhere...He is happy and that is very good* I hope you are well!..((Wings))

  • What a wonderful idea he had. I'll bet everyone was glad he wanted to have a reunion once they were all together. We had a family reunion a few years ago. Everyone said we need to do this more often. With all our busy lives, it's hard to do ~ but what a pleasure it is when we make time to do it. My children met relatives they would have otherwise never seen.

  • Happy Birthday to Louis! What a large and wonderful family he has been blessed with.

  • RYC thank you, Michel! You will be in the first mailing!

It is lovely to have these reunions. Our family enjoyed one a few years ago when my eldest niece had a party at her house on the lawn. It was lovely. My sister was still alive so those pictures mean a great deal to me! You family is lovely as is Janine....you are simply handsome!

  • ryc: I agree, we must learn from the past to make a better future!
    Love, Laurie

  • That is good that your Father-in-law has reachd this age and has all those children who could visit him I am afraid my own family are so spread out in this large Country we now live in that I seldom see any grands or greats they are all busy coping with life and children I do not know how man7y greats i have from my 12 Grandchildren Still that is modern Australia nothing like when I was young and we had big family gatherings Cheers Marjie

  • And the fact, Sir, that give so much of your heart everyday, and even consent to make you blog in English.

You are a very special man, and if you can reach out into the universe, feel me. You are one of the most very special souls I have touched. Thank, you, Sir!

  • What a wonderful memory for the family. Time does fly, and we must love our families while they are with us. Happy Birthday Louis. Thank you, Michel for sharing such a special celebration with us.

    God Bless you all,
    Melody

  • What a wonderful family time! Your father-in-law is very blessed to have such a loving family and I am sure that all of you are blessed to have him with you.
