English version below the pictures .

How much pleasant is the harvest time ! Coming back from some holidays in Brittany ( Western France ) I dug out a part of the potaoes , the ones that were ready . Although they have been a little hit by the frost at the springtime , I was rather happy with the production . ( photo 1 ) .As soon as they were taken away , I dressed the soil to plant 500 young leeks . ( photo 2 ) It is time and I have others to plant yet . I like this time when I prepare the young leeks before to plant them , sit on the gound under the cherry tree , in the silence and the scents of the vegetable garden .
Carrots are also full of promises . We already ate a few …. smelting and sweet ! ( photo 3 )
Doesn' t he seem to you triumphant this gardener at seeing his shallot crop ? ( photo 4)
Who said a long time ago : " …. People rejoice at the harvest …." ?

Your garden is truly a work of art. Well done.
Isaiah 9 verse 3
I love potatoes. Your garden is beautiful and fantastic.

Is it very warm there? Do you get enough rain?
Here it is so warm.
You look wonderful in your garden Michel.
I hope you are well
Rosemary
Tu me fais rever, mon ami!!! Quel magnifique jardin tu cultives!!
Bise, Lise
Lovely, Michel. I hope you and your family are thriving as your garden does!
your garden is beautiful, michel~! enjoy it.
wow! that is an amazing garden, michel. beautiful countryland. bonne chance avec les aventures et la production.

very triumphant indeed!! AMAZING garden!!
Hurrah for the harvest! Mommers and I knew the saying was from the Bible. And we should have guessed Isaiah (you like Isaiah and so do I.) A stew from the potatoes, carrots and leeks or shallots would be nice if you added chicken or beef. Add in some delicious French wine, of course!

Your garden is wonderful and you look so at home there.
Le jardin est tres tres bel.
J'adore les photos.
Cassie
Wow your garden has grown so much since we were there
. I really enjoyed my daily walks around your garden
. It must be wonderful to be able to pick the vegatables that you have grown and have a wonderful cook like Janine to cook them for you .
I am glad that Janine enjoyed getting her flowers yesterday . We left sending the flowers for a while since you were away and also to suprise Janine
I was amazed at how your garden had grown - stupid really, as my own is bursting with shrubs and flowers now. I hope you enjoyed some cherry clafoutis ( spelling ???? ) with the great crop you have had. I'm glad Janine was surprised with the flowers - just the reaction we wanted
BTW your spine doesn't look as " curved " now - have you been on a diet OR is it the result of gardening
Marie
someday i would like to have vegatable gardens like you.
Michel, what a beautiful garden! I can see how much of yourself you have put into it. We are enjoying our half-runner beans and tomatoes now. The corn will soon be ready. There's nothing quite as good as fresh home-grown vegtables, is there? Take care! Kaye
You do look triumphant!
That is such a beautiful garden and a beautiful harvest.
~Thoughts through the looking glass~ Enjoyed my visit here!Interesting post today!
Hope you are having a great day!

Happy farming Michel!
Gardening takes so much work, but your smile indicates that it is well worth the effort!
Your garden is beautiful! And look at all those potatoes! Leeks are difficult to grow.
Don't you love fresh grown vegetables???
The garden looks like the garden of eden. I hope you don't have a apple tree.
Bien à toi
Carlo
What a wonderful garden, nice & neat rows!! You must be a master gardener.
Michel, your garden is so beautiful. You must do a lot of work in it, to have it looking like that...
I could hardly believe all those potatoes. I could eat potatoes every meal they are so good, and there are so many ways of fixing them.
The carrots are also a favorite of mine. I love using them in stews, or boiled dinners.
I would say that you have every reason to look triumphant, with a garden like that.
I can see that you definitely have a green thumb.
Love
Edie Rose
Sorry, I forgot to ask. What is that tree that is above your potatoes, in the first photo? Looks like some sort of fruit.
Your garden looks wonderful! I bet all of those veggies will taste great too!
Michel...your garden is an absolute treasure to behold! I was so pleased to see that you posted pictures of your garden...which we have all heard so much about...no wonder you have been busy! Your hard work and efforts have paid off!

Your garden is so huge!!! What a lot of work it must be! Everything looks so nice.

y particularly red clay with cobblestones? wow... all those crops... here only a very small percentage own a field, and those fields are tiny. i cant even keep a plant alive for more than a year. good luck with it.
Ah I think it is a certain gardner that I know that rejoices. So tell me, why red clay AND cobblestones?

Vous avez le Pardis ici.....

I can't believe that is YOUR garden!!!
c'est TRES BIEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
your potatoes must have been amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmMMm...YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You will just have to help me with a garden after I move. I think I could enjoy my own vegetables, with your guidance, of course.
Your vegetable garden would keep you VERY busy, Michel! It does look wonderful, and I can't help but think how my father would have loved to have seen your garden, and spoken with you about it. He grew vegies, as you do! His garden wasn't as large as yours though. I always feel hungry after seeing the carrots and other fantastic vegetables you grow.
Beautiful pictures, here Michel.
I see similarities amongst those who are close to nature- simplicity, humility and generousity.
my husband's parents have an orchard of three different kinds of fruits.they are wonderful people, finding most of their joys in the soil and land.

Your potato crop is bountiful. I enjoy so much all of your pictures.

Beautiful vegetable garden
I should think you are proud to have such a fine garden. Well done Michel
Yes Michel...I can sense your joy just looking at the "gardener you" standing there!
Happy Harvest! Gardening in itself is a peaceful, relaxing activity!
Mmm...I'm hungry...those potatoes look good!
quelle belle jardin!
à propos, j'ai bien reçu ta belle carte. merci beaucoup!

A lovely garden indeed. Those new potaoes look so good.
How do you say in French... Zalors! ? What a BEAUTIFUL garden! I rejoice with you at this bountiful harvest!!! Our garden here is still not ready to harvest, as our Spring is late in coming this far north. So far we have many zucchini to eat, but not so much else.
We do not know how to grow potatoes! Do you have some suggestions?
Much love to you and your family. ~ Paloma
you are a gentleman farmer! fantastic!
omg i have a fascination with gardens! yours is beautiful! have a great day!
That looks like a large garden. Must keep you very busy, taking care of it. All we have are a couple large containers of tomatoes. You must have enough vegetables to last the winter!
Je suis le meilleur.
Vraiment. N'est ce pas?
WOW!!! What a beautiful garden! My grandfather's garden is simply functional. Your garden is functional and beautiful!
Thanks for sharing the photos.
There is a saying that one is nearer God's heart in a garden than anywhere else. I think it must be true. There is such enjoyment in working in the garden. It may be flowers or it may be vegetables, but all give a sense of accomplishment. I look forward to next year when I will finally have a place to grow vegetables as well as my beloved flowers. Even now I look forward to tomatoes fresh and still warm from the summer sun, as well as many other delicious foods.

Yes we were visiting each other's sites yesterday at the same time, Michel!
I thought this when I came back to my site, and saw you'd just been. I'm going to show Glenn your wonderful vegetable garden tonight, when he gets home from work.
Have a lovely weekend!
What a beautiful contribution to your site. What a blessing it is to anyone who wanders through during their browsing. I enjoyed the tour through your garden immensely.

Your garden photos are wonderful, especially the potatoes! I think your garden is especially bountiful this year. And your harvest will be bountiful as well.
It's been a LONG time... I just wanted to stop by and say hi
Wow. That's a beautiful garden. <3 And yummy, too... :]
Oh my goodness, that looks so lovely and so delicious! Brings me memories of the garden my mother (raised on a farm) used to raise in our backyard. All I can remember is that we had lots of fresh corn, green beans, peas.. and even when she stopped doing a full garden like yours, she always had tomato plants outside. My parents have since moved from the house I grew up in, and she doesn't garden as much. But she does keep quite the collection of flowers going!
Maybe someday, since I have a pretty large backyard, I'll develop a green thumb and get my own garden of vegetables going.
Much love, Michel!

bon weekend avec euh .... plein de soleil
dans le coeur tout au moins
Your garden is magnificent, Michel, and the gardener brilliant!
Some of my best memories of my dear papa are of times we spent working together in his garden, nibbling on the bounty of nature as we went. Such a sweet man, this is where he was the happiest. Living in an apartment, I miss the chance of working the soil ... makes one feel a part of nature. Take care and enjoy the rest of the summer.
Nancy
Your garden is beautiful! It looks like you have food for a whole village. We did not plant a garden this year and I miss the fresh vegetables.
ooh! look at the garden!!! that's really neat! I wish I could grow a garden, but I live in an apartment, so it's a little hard to do! haha. Hope all is well with you! have a great weekend!
Your garden is not only fruitful, but beautiful as well. All that green! It's amazing how much you fit into such a small space. Enjoy all that your hard work has wrought.
Wonderful garden..... rejoice at harvest you have quite a crop.
The kitten is better. Eating well and a little terror running around the house. Think I'll keep him.
"Doesn' t he seem to you triumphant this gardener at seeing his shallot crop ? "
Yes! And well he should!
Your garden makes me wish I had more yard in which I could grow more vegetables and fruits. I will have to post my tomatoes that are growing so large now & some of the cherry picking time with my whole family helping. Tomatoes & the cherries are all I have grown this year (other than flowers). Next year, maybe I can plant a few green beans (white half runners) and some green onions & potatoes. I just need to till the ground up in a corner of the back yard. YES! That is what I shall do, Lord willing, next year.
You are and inspiration Michel!
Love,
Deb
your garden is indeed beautiful. my father planted a simple vegetable garden, no flowers, and i helped a little. it was planted late, so not much fruitage yet. some squash are growing and soon zucchini, green beans and peppers. the tomatoes are green and coming along well. the best part is eating the food you have worked for- it always tastes better! you will indeed have that joy!
Growing your own food is such a wonderful thing...we are of nature and when we are one with the planting and growing it fills the soul with a special joy
what a beautiful garden and beautiful crop, I am in envy of such healthy dirt and growing things... I hope you enjoy the senses, sights smells and breezes in your garden... It is good you have a good size family to share all your harvest with... Gardens are good for the spirit, in my opinion and your kind spirit shows in your smile...
go eat beef and have a heart attack old man!
Ah, that is so peaceful. I think I need a garden, too. Maybe I need to move to Europe first, then I can be a triumphant gardener

I like what you have to say.. It's a really beautiful garden.
I hope someday when I retire I can work on a small farm or a garden.
What a wonderful garden! You should be proud. I wonder what kind of wonderful food you will be making with your harvest. Thanks for your encouraging words, my friend. Theyt mean much to me.

Again your descriptions do it so much justice. Love and hugs ! ! ! ! May you and Janine have a great day anda a wonderful tomorrow ! ! ! ! May you both sleep with the angels and wake up fully rested and ready for a brand new day ! ! ! !
That seems like a big vegetable garden. you're lucky
And i'm glad you enjoy working in it. In the city here, I barely have a few potted plants that survive in the apartment!
Thanks for your comments. I hope you've had a great summer.
anu
(I got my postcard from Chateaulin ~ thank you ~ that was nice!
)
Lovely! Btw, how long will the crop last if you leave it in the soil? I've never seen a garden like yours... all my produce come from the shops!
Tell me more so that I can share it with my students.
Hi Michel. That's a great looking garden you have going there. You should be proud. It's nice to have you back here.
Paula
I don't garden, but I'm vaguely acquainted with the satisfaction that comes from planting and harvesting. My late wife Marvis was a fantastic gardener. I used to help her, with the planting and with the eating. So I remember.
Thanks for your nice comment.
The picture on my site is of a small bush called Astilbe, that I have planted by my kitchen door. I also have some red and pink ones. I love the flowers.
Have a nice day!!!
Love
Edie Rose

Cheers,
MJ
Thank you for your comment Michel. I love photo number 3. Please forgive me if I do not reply so often, I rarely visit my Xanga site now days, due to the baby. Today is the last day of our vacation, I will write about it soon.
