    The countryside in Touraine
         ( France center )

Last week we were in South Touraine . We noticed a well balanced landscape parted in forest , fields and meadows . It was a real harmony .

The picture above is taken from the hamlet where we lived . I was admiring this beautiful oak grove with also some chestnut trees . You can see one of them at the edge of the forest , bloomed yellow .

Just at the side there was a wheatfield with at its middle …an old bloomed chestnut tree . Immediatly I was interested by its strange shape . Then I was wondering why it was at the middle of a field ! Obviously it should disturb the culture works . I asked the farmer owner of the field some explanations . He told me he always had known it . At the beginning it was probably at the border between two fields then one put together the two fields . The chestnut tree remained . Therefore it is standing now at the middle but the farmer wants to keep it there even if it disturbs . You can understand why , with such a respect for nature , the Touraine ' s landscape is remained so much beautiful .

  • Wow!  Very beautiful countryside!  Excellent pics, Michel.  By the way, Elisa is over here until the end of August and will go back to Paris.  She lives in Paris, but I think she has lived in Corsica, too.  She's very nice and is a great representative of your wonderful country.

  • Such a natural respect for nature is adorable! I admire people like the owner of the farm... so many peopel destroy natural resourses for much less than that! Keep posting those snaps, Mivhel. Thanks again!

Btw, only after I saw your comment to my  blog that have I noticed the number 150 in the license..

    Amité, Michel!

  • Beautiful countryside Michel, thank you for sharing the images

  • I have been watching the great French countryside on TV during the Tour , today Armstrong just up the mountain like a rocket

  • what a beautiful place...  and so close to you (compared to me, haha... )

thank you for sharing the pictures....  ciao!

  • Respect for nature is so very important.  We need to preserve for the generations that follow!  If the tree had been cut down to make room for more crops...you would never have had the pleasure and the chance to share with us...Thank you

  • What a knack you have for taking pictures. They are so beautiful. I especially love the way the field is freshly mown, with the contrast of the tall grass in the foreground.

I can almost envision that farmer sitting under that tree in the shade enjoying his lunch break.

Thanks to your imput, I am sure that most of us are becoming more aware of our beautiful surroundings.

    Have a good weekend, Michel.

  • What a beautiful countryside! And what a wonderful gift to share with your friends on the other side of the ocean!

    Thank you, Michel!

  • All that beauty to see there!  I love trees and it's remarkable that the one stands in the middle of the field.

  • That really is gorgeous!  I love trees!!  We don't have really big ones here in this area of Texas.

  • How wonderful!! That someone would respect nature so like that!! I wish more people would do that!! Have a wonderful weekend

  • Once the area where I live was large cattle ranches.  It is no longer profitable to raise cattle here.  However the climate and soil are very good for growing various kinds of wine grapes.  About a year ago a large area of land was converted from grazing land to a vineyard.  As a result many beautiful old oak trees were cut down to make way for the grape vines.  This has caused many people to be upset.  The county government is considering a law that would make it illegal to cut down trees without getting permission first.

  • Now that is gorgeous!!!! Bene'

  • ...wonderful photos! What is a hamel?
Beautiful countryside, "french country" such a joy. MuSe

  • En Voyageant de Belqique a Paris....la terre etait magnificant et beau.

  • Once again, you have blown me away with your beautiful words & pictures! Thank you so much! And thank you for your comment. The chestnut tree is beautiful. It has been years since I have seen a landscape such as that. As for the comment that you gave me, I don't know much French, I'm still learning. I like trying to understand your blogs in French before I give up and read the English versions!

  • I thank you for your visit to my site.  I also think you take some of the most beautiful pictures.  I just love the countryside and the chestnut in the wheatfields.  What I love more though is the farmers keeping the tree as he knew it.  Like it was an old friend.  That is what life is about living in harmony with nature, and looking on it as a good friend.  Which actually it is, for where would we be with out nature?  Thank you so much for sharing.  I was going to take a break, but I believe due to a lot of sweet people I will not be taking a break after all.  Thank you!  Have a great day and a wonderful weekend Michel ! ! ! ! !

  • Just beautifull Michel, you have an eye for beauty!!

  • In former days it was told that these trees attracted fairies. They watched the fields and they urged the gods to make the harvest abundant.

I love the photo's. Sooo Beautiful!

  • ..So nice. I hope one day soon to get to France.

Thanks for your nice words about my music. It brought a smile to my face.

  • This is so so beautiful... thanks for the images... some of it, though does resemble the Indian countryside... I guess the countryside is the same everywhere

  • Beau comme toujours, je veux visiter l France tellement!!

  • You ask of my death....it would seem so as mon amour is so cold today.

  • Ahhhh, I am so jealous of your vacation. I wonder when it will be my turn.

  • Lovely image of the tree in the middle of the field!

It looks so much like a large pecan tree, here in the North Texas farm country, in the middle of the farmer's field, just so.

  • La maladie impaire? Ma couleur de cheveux ou mon travail?

  • J'aime beaucoup les photos, Michel!

  • what a pleasure to be living in a house overlooking a gorgeous sight like this!

  • I am pleased you enjoyed your visit to Touraine.  It looks very beautiful.  The concert in the garden was a lovely event wasn't it.  I enjoy that sort of music too.  And such elegant musicians!  Best regards,  Tom

  • To answer your question, the WHL is Canada's Western Hockey League, and the NHL is the National Hockey League.
