    The train again !

On last Saturday 15 th June in St Valery sur Somme , little harbour into the estuary of Somme , the little train crossed the street in front us then starts to go across a bridge on the river Somme to reach the other bank . It was full of joyous tourists .

I could not resist to the "pleasure " to take these three pictures . Only simple pleasure ? I wonder what symbols are suggested to me by this valiant little train that crosses road and river and moves away . What do you think of that ?

  • Any room aboard the train today?  Great photos, Michel.

  • Wooooooo! OOoooooooooooo!

I love trains - reminds me of home. the rains all stopped running here after the earthquake of 1990

  • I think you are nostalgic.  The little train crossing the road forces a momentary stop to progress.  I also find that delightful!

Je pense que vous êtes nostalgique. Le petit train qui traversant la route force un arrêt momentané pour progresser. Je trouve aussi cela charmant!

  • I didn't know there was a train like that at St Valery.  I wish I'd seen it when I went there last year.  I remember the row of colourful houses next to the car park.  Tom

  • I think that I want a ride on that train - I don't care where it is going... I just know it is going to wonderful places

  • Extension pour les étoiles.....That is what a little train with me at the passenger going through France would mean to me.

  • I travelled on a canal boat the other day & it was beautiful & uplifting. I hope those on the train had just as much fun as me on the canal boat!
Thank you for sharing the photos.
    All the best!

  • I love to see pictures of where you live.  I would really love to visit France some day!

  • Beautiful pictures Michel!

  • Michel ~ I apologise. I think I might have not been very clear.
I am Zara (ZaraD)... but I had to start a new site due to someone bothering me because of my old one. I apologise for any confusion caused.

I have never tried the canals of France, but that is certainly something I will think about. I never thought of a canal boat in France! Now that really would be superb! What a beautiful idea!
All the best, Zara (under Octavia).

  • Vos photos sont toujours intéressantes!

  • Slow down, you move too fast, trying to make the morning last. Just kickin' down the cobble stones. Lookin' for fun and feeling groovy.Lalalalalalalala, feelin' groovy.

  • Reminds you of your happy time? Childhood? Michel, have you bought that train that I told you to? =)

  • I think its a wonderfull little train!!

  • Trains are such a lovely way to travel. Like in life - if the conductor is our "Lord" we can rest that the 'tracks' of life will take us to where we need to be. The companions on our journey we befriend and hope will continue on to the end of the line with us! Meantime we can enjoy the easy pace of travel, the view, the friendships along the way.

  • nice pictures :)

  • It is the little things that mean so much in life.  I have always believed this and I hope I always do.

    Great blog and pictures.

  • oh, how i wish it is him my opponent in my rugby matches! i'd love to tackle him. hahaha... michel, look what you've done by bringing that up!

trains are lovely. the sound of the 'choo, choo'. it's a pleasure if i can ride on a train someday. it's been quite some time since i last board one.

you always put a smile to my face, michel.

  • ...wonderful photos! It is an adorable little train. Serves as a marvelous way to view the scenery, don't imagine "the little train" has much speed.  Were you fascinated with trains when you were a "little one?"
...my brother-in-law (and sister) just returned from a month in Europe. While on a train in Paris his wallet was picked-pocketed. Had to have all travel cards cancelled and replaced. So they were grounded for several days until replacement cards arrived. Sure this wouldn't have happened where you live. Paris is a big city with big city problems. MuSe

  • I think it is so wonderful!  Trains are and have been so fansinating! Places to go places already traveled! Yes What JOY!    Simple JOY!  @-}-}--

  • Belle photos, comme toujours! Peut être le train est une métaphore pour la vie, en certaines manières?

  • Wonderful again!!

  • I love the idea of the train going through the town.  Living in Toronto, there are no sites such as that "petit train."

  • What wonderful photos and what wonderful memories. Jass

  • I think the trains are good, I would love to travel on them as I find French names fascinating, more romantic than English. Sadly I could never master the language but it sounds terrific.I haven't got a scanner. I bought one and it interfered with my printer so I returned it, I either take my photos into a camera shop or trust Paula but she needs a new one. Tomorrow I am taking some slides in, they are old so may have a line down each side but I took them on my trip, then I can write something about them. Cheers Marjie Am running out of ideas.

  • Answer to any comments ; It ' s true I always have been  fascinated with steam trains . They were so living .          Michel

  • Little Red Caboose, Little Red Caboose, Little Red Caboose behind the train, Smokestack up his back, going down the track, little Red Caboose behind the train. Toot,Toot!! This childhood song comes to me whenever I watch a train pass by.

Trains hold wonderful memories for me. My dad was a railroad man. My favorite aunt lived in two attached Red Caboose, which consisted of a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath. I was around 10 years old then and I always loved visiting with her. She had those caboose fixed up so nice-I wish I had them now. Have a great day, Michel.

  • Awwww it looks like they are enjoying themselves..

  • I like your answer: "they were so living". thank you for sharing.

  • incroyable!
j'ai astonishez comme bien personne read (couldn't remember this mot in French) nous blogs - what a following - I consider you one of our tribal elders perhaps......
Travels through India have allowed me to familiarise myself with the joys of the steam train in intense detail - of particular beauty is the little train that winds up the Himalayas to Simla (the Summer retreat of the British Raj).......

  • Just makes wish I could go on 2 holidays this year one to Ireland and then one to France

  • Ah, Michel. I like how you think.

To me.. what comes to mind is that everything stops, but none suffer from the pause in their daily activities... the break from their worries, for the train... which keeps chug-chuging along its joyous path. The tourists, perhaps, are the ones who support its survival (with money).. but how lovely that you and Janine and perhaps many other local residents also take pleasure and by the pleasure, also support it in its travels.

    Much aloha,
    Linda

  • Thank you!!!!

  • The train is so symbolic of life itself... on and on... over the hills, over the rivers... on and on... :)
